    Tip for smoothies, add frozen cauliflower for more vegetables and they add bulk and I can’t ever taste it! Also, beans in a smoothie for protein instead of protein powder, you don’t taste it and it’s unprocessed!

    I love the spice rack and I am jealous! Tip I learned that I want to share....putting in spices over the steam from the pan isn't good for the spices, so it is best to put all the spices you need in a little bowl separately and then add it in. The guy from Local Spicery says to never put in spices over the pot or pan because the steam gets in and affects the quality. 🌶

    I have to say this is my favorite "series" that you have done. I am barely 5' tall and my calories have to be low if my goal is to lose weight. Thank you for showing delicious meals around 400 calories. I am making your stuffed pepper recipe today. Yum. 😊

      Me too, I'm just over 5' but not quite 5'1", so my calories need to be low to maintain or lose weight. I feel like a lot of plant based channels use a lot of fats, and their calories are usually wayyy higher than mine. I like to lose the winter fat this time of year, so I've been binging these videos!

    I love the 400 cal meals. The two of you are a hoot - just like every other family. The pot stirring was hilarious - it is exactly my hubby and I (he never gives a good stir!). The pantry and spices is amazing - I’ve never seen so many spices outside of a grocery store. The other day I watched a video with Lex and laughed out loud. Everyone’s teen - I’m so out of here when I graduate. Lmao.

    Totally binge watching your content all day! I am so grateful that you are making videos like this. I struggled in the same way -hit age 60 and all of a sudden could not lose anymore weight on the starch solution. I have always been SOS free, but now I organize my plate differently. I eat unlimited veggies and greens, but make certain I am eating less than 1000 cal a day of starch. Now, the weight is falling off again. Slow and steady, half pound a week. I’m down 50 pounds! It means a lot to hear from you and your community that I was not all alone out there struggling. Thanks so much!

    I learned something important today, never would of thought of that. It’s psyllium husk. I’m not constipated but would like it to come easier without any strain. Do you think I could just add it to my cereal or does it have to dissolve in liquid. That’s the same as Metamucil right. I love you two and look forward to Tuesday so. You have helped so many including me. Eileen

    That looks amazing! But I don’t think nutritional yeast at 15 calories a tablespoon should break the bank. And it has wonderful nutrients and flavor that can make it worthwhile. Too many spices is a good problem to have!

    • @tosca...
      @tosca... 11 месяцев назад +2

      Agree. The nutrients make it worth it. Even brewer's yeast is a good idea for the smoothie to get the full range of B vitamins in as often as possible, particularly if there's been no mushroom in your 3 meals that day. The B vitamins are brain food (including anti-dementia)

      A cup of notch is about 250 calories. All my recipes call for a least half a cup. that is 125 calories and if we a splitting the recipe that is about 62.5 calorie extra. For a 400 calorie meal, it's an expensive topping. It also not something I need as far as taste.

    Lots of spices and condiments are the key to really tasty cooking, vegan or not. Insufficient seasoning is a problem I often see with plant-based cooking - my final amount is often two to three times what is called for in a recipe. This is especially important if you are cutting down on salt. I have two full drawers full. Being OCD, most are decanted into matching little glass bottles with labels and, of course, alphabetized. I seem to be the only one who pays attention to proper organizing after using.........

    Love your videos! When you enter this into your diary, do you indicate it as .5 serving or did you create this as a recipe and then set Il the serving size as 2?
    Not sure I would have been to go to Lowe’s and leave without a cart full of flowers 😂
    Our Costco in Illinois doesn’t carry a lot of organic produce and you have better prices!You’re so lucky

    • @PlantBasedDads
      @PlantBasedDads  2 месяца назад

      When I make something like this without a recipe, i enter it all into the dairy as grams and enter only my portion of the grams. If i do a recipe for it, then i set up the whole recipe with all the actual grams for the ingredients and then show the recipe as "Serve 2" and then I enter it into my dairy as 1 serving. Yes we are lucky with the prices here for produce.

    Wonder if you can post the final macros in Cronometer. What was the nutritional values at the end of the day with these meals?

    I love these recipes. I’m also trying to keep my meals at 400 for a total of 1200 cal a day however my BMR tells me I shouldn’t do more than 1100. Cal daily.

    Joey, let your poor husband speak!!!!! "Tell them about your spice rack" - Tim starts, Joey takes over after he's uttered a sentence. And it's not a one off.

    Since you are using grams, I am assuming you are weighing your foods raw? Just note that because a bag says the contents is 400g to be accurate you will want to weigh it

    • @PlantBasedDads
      @PlantBasedDads  11 месяцев назад

      Yes, we are weight everyone regardless of what the bag says. The only one we use from the bag is that berry mix. Its close enough to 100 calories either way.

    Oat milk has more calories than almond milk, so I am curious why you do not use almond milk?

    • @PlantBasedDads
      @PlantBasedDads  11 месяцев назад

      My oat milk has 40 calories for 1 cup and 0.5g of fat. Almonds are much higher in fat than oats are
