I know this isn't relevant but where is your halter top from. It's SO CUTE
As a canadian dietitian myself, I am surprised that IBS symptoms such as diarrhea/nausea were not disclosed as ozempic side effects more evidently. Approximately 50% of users experience these IBS side effets. It’s not just stress. Not to mention that Ozempic can most certainly exacerbate pre-existing IBS symptoms.
But also on the flip side, it can cure some IBS symptoms, as it has done in myself. The delayed bowel emptying means I no longer run to the bathroom every time I eat. I suppose it depends on each individual person and their health history and symptoms. It’s hard to “blanket statement” this.
These potential side effects are listed prominently everywhere. I’m not sure how you would deduce that they aren’t “disclosed evidently”
@@BoringTroublemaker she said her diarrhea was due to stress. There was barely any mention of the contribution of ozempic. Lets not get defensive here !
@@ladana02 I’m saying that it’s not accurate to suggest that IBS symptoms (nausea, bloating, constipation, diarrhea) aren’t clearly noted as common side effects of semaglutide, because they are well known side effects. I’m not being defensive, it’s just a fact. I take ozempic, I’ve had all of these side effects at one point or another. They are listed on the pamphlet, on the commercials, on the website, told to you by the pharmacist, by your doctor, on everything subreddit, in every RUclips video and in the comments section on every video talking about these drugs. You have to have your head in the sand to not have heard this before.
@@ladana02 I’m also not saying that Ginger’s diarrhea was caused by the drug, but it’s completely possible that it was. It can be transient.
Abbey!! Thank you so much for always making videos that are holistic and explore a variety of approaches to healthy living! I started watching your videos when I was a teen with an ED, and now I’m almost 30 and leading an incredibly healthful and vibrant life!! I truly couldn’t have done it without you, and I love to see you inspiring a whole new generation of young women to live healthily in a way that helps them!
This is amazing and why I do what I do. Thanks for letting me be part of your journey❤❤
I was on Ozempic for a year and a half due to being diabetic. I never lost a pound and didn't see a big change in my sugars, but I was sick most of the time becoming violently ill at times. Once I quit taking Ozempic I felt much better and actually lost 20lbs. Due to people looking for just weightloss I had times where I could not get my script filled as well
My neighbor, also a diabetic, had the same result on Ozempic. He said it made him really sick to his stomach, but he didn’t lose weight. Everybody’s body is different and reacts different different way. I remember when Humira first came out for psoriatic arthritis. It was so hard to get a prescription for the drug and it was so expensive upwards of $5000. when I finally got it , I was so excited and called my friend who was a nurse to come over and give me the injection in my arm. Ira did not work for me! It made me break out in hives and I got really fat on it. I mean I had hives all over my face and arms and stomach and I suddenly looked like I put on 30 pounds. it was awful and I was paying so much to look like this! I felt miserable, and still had psoriasis and then your body has to go through cleaning out. Before you can get on any other kind of biologic.
I'm a type 2 diabetic. Ive been on ozempic since June of last year and lost 20 pounds, then gained 10 back and have been stuck ever since. No major side effects for me, but it has brought my A1cs down. Honestly seems to work for some and others not so much. Can be discouraging seeing people say they lost 100 pounds when I'm gaining. Win some you lose some I guess.
@@AlishaB2 this happened to someone I know. But she was also going through menopause and figured out that she needed hormone replacement therapy and then when she got on that the Ozempic worked. And she started losing weight.
I am loving my Mounjaro. It controls my diabetes AND kicks hunger to the curb.
Thanks to the quieting of the food noise, I can now follow Abbey's advice easily. I feel a thousand percent healthier since November. I'm on 7.5 mg now and praying I can stay at this level until the shortage gets better.
I’m the exact way! I feel like a new person!
@@Isawthat411 did you start on .25 My Dr is suggesting very low dosage to start for no symptoms?
Hi Abbey,
I am currently a college senior graduating in a few months who has been running cross country and track for four years at the NAIA level. I recently came across your channel and I love the youtubers that you review. My freshmen year of college, have had many past struggles with perfectionism, exercise addiction, overeating, and unfourtaneltly tried yo yo dieting; I was studying and pulling way to many all nighters leading to falling asleep in class due to my jam packed schedule and never giving myself rest. I currently am seeing a counselor because your videos have encouraged me to not be afraid to reach out if you are struggling. and nutritionist and I have noticed extreme changes in my times and energy levels. Keep reviewing popular fitness youtubers because I love hearing about your healthy eating ideas and the research that you put into the reviews. I am doing much better today- Running and training with proper nutrition, sleeping better, and am finishing up my final semester as a college student working with a high school athletic director and will be graduating in May with my degree in education. Thank you!
I wonder if she could look into her Cortisol levels. She obviously looks VERY STRESSED, and this may be why her weight got stuck. She is an inspiration to those of us on this journey!
I think the title is misleading. You only talked about weight loss, we don't have info on what it did to / for the body. Has Ginger lost bone density? Stomach elasticity?
Why the hyper criticism? Studies have shown those on these drugs have a lower risk of heart disease.. pancreatic cancer etc so yay.
Muscle. That's a big deal
Abbey, thank you for engaging in such important conversations on your platform. Ginger, you are amazing. Thank you so much for sharing your story and embracing your vulnerability. You are both helping so many people❤
Frozen fruit is the best. My recent snack obsession is a super chocolate protein fruit bowl. I start by thawing a bunch of frozen fruit in the microwave (lately I've done a cup of sliced strawberries and a half cup of raspberries for about a minute) and then in a separate bowl I mix 2/3 cup of nonfat Greek yogurt plus one scoop of vegan chocolate protein powder. Then I mix it all together and it's Super high in protein and fiber and really chocolatey and delicious.
Ooooh that sounds so good, anything chocolate and berry is🔥
My fav is similar. Greek yoghurt, chocolate protein powder and frozen strawberries mixed in.
Do you have a favourite protein powder?
@@shannonsheed977 I use The Walmart brand plant based chocolate protein powder. I think the reviews said it tasted good and it was cheap. I can't remember why I didn't get the dairy chocolate protein powder since I'm not vegan. 🤷🏼♀️ I think I might have seen scary reviews about the flavor. I'm pretty cheap so I always get Walmart brand.
I love this series, it’s been leaps and bounds helpful and insightful! I hope it’s still ongoing ~ Also Ginger thank you for your vulnerability and I am rooting for you!
Great job Ginger! I have been on Ozempic for about 11 months and I am down 105 pounds! This drug has been major life-changing for me I have totally changed my eating habits how I think of food. I was dealing with the constant food noise in my head and Ozempic has taken that away. I wish you much success with your journey
What dosage have you been on?
The first.
2 weeks I was down 5 pounds. And then the next two weeks I was dtwo and a half. That was on the.
Point 25, I've been on the point 543 weeks and the first few days.I could feel the suppression, but my appetite feels almost back to normal. And I don't know if I am down any this month. I was excited to get on the point five but now i'm excited to get on the one because i'm not really experiencing the intensity that I feel like other people are
I wish I could take it but I csnt afford it. I'm 231 pounds and so depressed
@DogMommy. I'm on a georgia state plan am better. Just diagnosed with diabetes this year.So because of some medical reason to lower my blood sugar they cover just as ozimpic. The eleven hundred dollar medicine is only fifteen dollars. So I would see if you qualify.
For state insurance

Ginger and Abbey - these honest real life videos continue to be so valuable. I'm now on OZ and having great success -- and finding improvements in so many ways. Thank you since your videos helped me say yes when my doc recommended it!
I'm so happy to hear it. Sometimes I wonder if I should be putting my journey out there - I'm not a content creator and am not set up to receive the hate that I get. But it's been life changing for me. I'm wishing you all the best.

So much relatable content here. Thank you Ginger for sharing.
This has been a great series! Thank you!
Great job Ginter, you are doing amazing!!!!! And congrats on your launch, can't wait to try it
I am happy she had strong results, but I am curious about the long term prospect. Coming from a place of genuine earnest to understand, not to judge. Is the prospect of Ozempic like that of Keto in a way (not the best analogy, I know), but is this a lifetime pharmacological solution with a strong rebound when the protocol is ceased? I know that certain people do need lifelong medication, and that's fair, but this seems more like a bandaid on a symptom rather than addressing the root cause. I worry about the paucity of long-term studies surrounding Ozempic and could the treatment be worse than the "disease." Or is there a path off the drug since she has habituated her metabolism and habits to her new "normal?" I am not very sanguine one Ozempic (or the like) but if it is a short-term jump start, I feel a lot better about it than I am for a long-term/lifetime protocol. Not that people who take Ozempic give a damn what I think, but I say it out of true concern for the well being of people - a rare take on social media, I know.
All the GLP-1 receptor agonists are lifelong drugs because the issue is not "behaviours"- it is improper GLP-1 signalling. People need to build muscle and eat healthily so that they can titrate down for maintenance but it is rare to be able to come off them and remain slim.
Well I’ve seen that once you go off ozempic, your hunger hormones will return to how they were (unless u do actual damage to your body) and if the person hasn’t learned to control their eating habits, they’ll gain the weight back
Similar to insulin and other medications, Ozempic is a long term medication which balances out issues you have with blood sugars, insulin resistance and hormonal changes. In moreways than one, this medication has been a positive life changer in inflammation related diseases, mood, food and more.
Semaglutide has been around a long time. It isn't a new drug.
@happytobe_here9483 don't be disingenuous, this use case at a mass scale is new. The longitudinal studies have not been performed for weight control in non-diabetic patients.
I'm very thankful for this video and to once again be met by your scientific but kind approach.
To get to your "set weight" is something both society and health care providers need to be more aware of and I love how you are giving her credit and encouragement instead of focusing solely on what can be improved.
LOVE Ginger! I look forward to her updates so much.
I love how positive Abbey is.
I am so happy for Oprah, Ginger and everyone else who has suffered from obesity struggles their whole life and now can use these types of medications and finally lose weight. I hope the manufacturers make more to stop the shortages and I hope they put in the effort to eliminate the side effects even more. They have been doing this the last 15 years. All these fitness diet gurus and people in comments who are so sour cause finally weight loss has been made easier. And oh no! We can’t have that! It just has to be a life long struggle of suffering through the 12 steps. I mean there is actually a pill for alcoholism! It has been around for years. Why is it is a sin to make life easier for people? Go Ginger go!
Thank you for saying this. I was having the hardest time with my weight not budging and felt pretty desperate and down. I’ve finally been able to lose some weight with the help of medication (compounded semaglutide). It’s been 7 months for me and though I’ve lost slower than some, I’m still losing and that makes me happy. I’m less out of breath now, wearing the clothes that wouldn’t fit before, not thinking about food all the time, etc. Anyhow, thanks for being supportive of those of us that choose to go this route.💚
You are so right!!! Ppl are just mad because they’ve used their body to feel superiors to others and now this will level the playing field somewhat. It’s about time.
Keep up the hard work, Ginger! I am really interested in how your journey continues! ❤
I am one of those people whose insurance company will not pay for I need GLP drugs. So I decided to start taking walks, kickboxing, dancing, and mindful eating. I've decided to do it because I want to live past 100 years old healthfully. If I lose weight that's great too and I would love that but my focus is just really health and longevity at this point
I was just thinking like an hour ago that we haven't had an update in a while lol
It’s about time!!!
Had the same thoughts some days ago. Glad about this update now.
I know this isn't the point of the video but that quinoa salad looked BOMB
14 months on Wegovy and nothing more troubling than nausea for a single day after my injection. It has been amazing for my inflammatory markers, my cholesterol and weight loss, all per blood tests and check ins from my doctors.
Food noise. YES. I have never resonated with a phrase more.
I’ve been waiting for this vid. 🎉
From someone who used Truclicity, wow, those medications completely change your life. I was able to lose 40 pounds all together but I actually did have muscle. I tried my best to make the best food choices, but I also worked out hard.
Hiii I’m on my 2nd week of Trulicity! The lowest dose…when did you start to see results and what dose?? 😊😊
@@TVeeTime I was on the low dose. I believe it was in a few weeks. My advice is to eat intentionally. One day you won’t have the medicine anymore so it’s the perfect time to create healthier eating habits.
Abbey - Would you please publish a video on the Carnivore diet? It’s become quite the topic on You Tube. I’ve felt confused by all the comments about it. Thank you.
Research is indicating a 4 month plateau for many people. As with many dieters, control of foods tends to slip rather than the drug stops working.
I’ve been sort of hovering for 3 months starting at the 7 month mark - I’m sort of in the phase of “if this is where my body wants to be, GREAT” but also “no more can’t exercise excuses” - I’ve taken a few months off because I got too busy and it makes a difference (for me anyways)
I am just honestly so scared of some unknown side effects from it
Ozempic has been used for type 2 diabetes for 18 years, so there really aren’t any unknown side effects. It has just come to the general public’s eye in its assistance in weight loss, but has done this for type 2 folks for more than enough years to know what the dangers are and they are noted in the medications side effect list.
From what I read and understand about ozempic is that once you begin using it, you can't really ever get off of it. When you are losing weight with ozemspic, you are losing lots of muscle too and if you aren't resistance training 5 times a week and eating lots of protein, you will lose a lot of muscle on the semaglutide and your metabolism will likely slow down quite a bit. Once you get off of it, you will likely gain all the weight back plus more since your metabolism is likely slower than it was before you got on ozempic in the first place. Just something to consider. I still prescribe it for my patients who are very obese and for those who are pre-diabetic and those who have diabetes to help prevent further disease.
the perfect drug for the companies shareholders then.
I started Ozempic 3 months ago as treatment for my Diabetes. I have also had issues with eating disorders like binge and purge for years. Food noise has been a part of my life for years and nothing helped this. I've done damage to my body with disordered eating as it's effects wreaked havoc on my Diabetes. Since starting Ozempic I have lost 12 pounds but the amazing thing is it stopped the food noise completely. I'm amazed at my disinterest in food as I get hungry but eat till satisfied and nothing triggers a binge. at first I was skeptical and thought maybe this was going to be temporary. It's been three months now and I feel like for the first time in my life I have a normal relationship with food. I never knew what that was as my childhood was quite dysfunctional and food was always a comfort for me. I I was resistant to starting Ozempic as I saw a lot of people were losing weight rather quickly and despite the fact I wanted to lose about 20 pounds I did not want to lose it fast. I know this comment is long, but it's really hard to put into words how appreciative I am of this drug. I don't like taking medication, and I try to do things as natural as possible but this was very very hard to overcome. I wish I would've started Ozempic sooner, and I can totally relate to how your friend feels. ❤
Idk if this is an option for everyone in colder climates but farmers market produce lasts a long time! And it’s all seasonal. It helps incorporate more fruits and veggies into you meals.
I've been on Ozempic for just about 5 months. I'm 26 pounds down. I'm feeling good. I've noticed that I'm not obsessing over food, which is new for me. I tend to eat throughout the day and then by 4pm, I'm kind of done eating. Then at night befoer I go to bed, I have a small snack. It's so strange to not be eating all night.
I fasted all day long and I only eat at night
So what happens once you hit your goal? Do you go on a maintenance dose or are you weaned off it all together?
Depends on the patient and the doctor prescribing the medication.
It was so helpful for me to hear abbeys story. I haven’t had good success on ozempic but am hopeful to try wegovy and get some dietician help.
Excellent point on how do we feel after eating foods. It matters. Lately i notice cereal first thing is giving me sweaty shakes on and off during the day. It seems i over eat on those days so Im usibg cereal as an afternoon snack instead
I get shaky and nauseous when I do 24hr fasts.
Love your videos. I will be starting Ozempic ( a bit scared of side effects) . I have a question? Is it alright to eat Steel Cut Oats?
Abbey, people keep saying that "it quiets the food noise." Doesn't that just mean that it enables you to ignore your hunger signals?
No it doesn't seem so, it's more like it stops people thinking about what they're going to eat or what they have eaten all the time even when they're not hungry.
It means I don’t think about food from sun up to sun down. I still get hungry- sometimes my stomach growls in hunger but mostly I feel nauseous, eat, and feel better. When I eat, I just eat less. Also by quieting the food noise, it quiets the cravings so I eat healthier food and make better choices. Truly a life changing medication for me.
I never realized gut brain relations I’m a lawyer and EVERY trial I lose 10-20 pounds because I vomit and have diarrhea EVERY DAY. I can’t eat when I’m stressed. So, how did I get fat? Eating out and not exercising. Coupled with menopause. Ozempic is making me eat unprocessed and exercise because now I’m stressed about muscle mass. Thank you for these videos. Eye opening
How would Ozempic make you eat unprocessed foods when before you were eating processed foods? It seems like you were a busy lawyer and you weren’t cooking before. How has your life changed? Just because you’re on an injectable drug that curves your appetite?
Whatever about your diet or Ozempic: please mind yourself. It sounds like your mental health is not a priority for you and you are pushing yourself to an unhealthy place regularly
@@therabbithat trial is stressful. My comment was that there’s a brain gut relationship. Is this level of stress unhealthy? Sure. Thankfully it’s only 1-2 times a year.
@@HH-gv8mx i wasn’t eating McDonald’s. I was eating pasta and dessert at restaurants. I’m so much more aware of everything I put in my mouth now and not eating out at all. Trying to do this right and not have side effects. So I’m eating nothing that comes out of a box now
@@leahberry8490 so you are not diabetic, you just take Ozempic to lose weight? And how much do you have to spend on this every month to maintain your weight ? And do you see yourself ever coming off of it or is this as a lifelong drug for you?
Sorry if I missed it but what's her dose? When I hear Ozempic that typically caps at 1mg and in select countries 2mg. The Wegovy 2.4 mg dose will have much more profound effect on weight loss compared to 1 mg. Probably double the effect.
Well done Ginger! x
Abbey and Ginger yall deserve to get your bags!! but oof $85CAD per bag of protein…. in a paycheque to paycheque world is so out of reach for some of us who want to have more protein in our diets when the cost of fresh produce is already jacked up :/

Hi Abbey. Thanks for these vids. Would like to know your thoughts on compounding pharmacies. Here in the states weight loss prescriptions are not covered by most insurance. So the choice for most is pay $1300/ month or try a compounding pharmacy for a fraction of the cost.
PS. It’s disgusting that Wegovy is $1300 in the US, but SO MUCH LESS in other countries. 😡
The cost of drugs in the US is ludicrous. Big Pharma is a problem here. They run the healthcare industry in the United States and have their greedy hands in our political system. They are the wealthiest corporations And they don’t pay taxes. It’s disgusting. That’s why it’s important to pay attention and vote! 🗳
Yes, you can literally go across the border and get Ozempic, will Govee and all kind of diabetes, drugs and auto immune drugs like Remicade, which I was on the cost me $5000 a month, for a quarter of what they charge here.
The only problem is a lot of these drugs you’re not allowed to bring back into the United States. Because of course big Pharma wants to continue to make money off of. Us 🐑
The US is the most expensive healthcare system in the world. All your meds cost a fortune - like even if you have full insurance, your insurance is paying more for medication than other countries either their national healthcare, or their own system with insurance. I know that the UK is threatening Vertex that made the CF medication that can work miracles for people, and saying its too exoensive and the UK wont keep paying that much. Its interesting but i know in scenarios like this the UK usually manages to bring down prices
I would love to order your Neue Theory Protein here in NZ! How can I do that?
I appreciated this series, thank you both for navigating it with compassion! I would be curious, now, to hear your updated opinion/analysis of bariatric surgery, given that you last made a video about it years ago before Ozempic was a “thing”. It’s another medical way of treating the disease of obesity by altering how the body processes food (and how the mind deals with hunger).
So happy for her progress and this working for her. I will say though, in a weight loss focused world, it’s really hard to find resources on weight gain and developing an appetite. How Ginger described her transition from stress eating to feeling ill or forgetting to eat, it’s the opposite for some people. For someone who enjoys food and cooking and is food positive but just can’t get enough food down, are there resources for that? It’s hard out here for a naturally thin person looking to get stronger and healthier without feeling awful.
A registered dietician who has a special interest in helping people with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis might be a good fit, even if you don’t have Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis. They have probably worked with lots of people who struggle with low appetite and have lots of strategies to help people increase calories and nutrition and gain weight.
You do the opposite of dieting. You are going to have to push yourself to eat more.
1) set a timer to remind you to eat
2) eat higher calorie foods, with fats and carbs eg granola bars or nuts as snack
3) drink calories eg protein shake with fruit and add peanut butter
4) add carbs and fat to all your meals eg butter/oil plus bread/potatoes/rice
5) eat 3 meals and 2 to 3 snacks
This is literally the opposite eating plan to what this natural fatty has to follow. As I have to eat low calorie but high volume foods to stay full. But in your case, you need to focus on high calorie and less filling foods so you can increase your daily calories without feeling absolutely stuffed since you naturally eat small quantities.
I no longer have access to the medication, I’ll be honest, im sad. I have gained about half of the weight back and I do feel a sense of not being able to stop it. I believe I am at a point of maintenance, but only time will tell. I improved my health tremendously while I had the weight loss, so it’s been difficult to see not just the change in my body but my overall health. I had to go on it for my health so it wasn’t just because I wanted to be thinner.
I’m curious which apps you referred to that are helpful in learning how your body reacts to certain foods. Can you please share those? I’m on semaglutide and also have IBS. Being on this med has changed how my body reacts but I haven’t been able to dial things in like I had before.
She won't share something that she wasn't paid to share, so no.
i needed to see this thank you so much.
Hi I just found your channel. Great! Im a Calgarian who has just picked up my prescription for ozempic. However I am confused. My Dr. suggested that I start with only 5 clicks on the pen to start with. The Pharmacist thought it was not enough. I do know to take advice from my Dr. But do you have any input on that.. I believe its for low symptoms. Would love an opinion
Need to go by dosage. 0.25mg to start.
Is ozempic purely an appetite suppressant? Or does it cause weight loss in another way too?
It increases insulin sensitivity. It’s primarily there to control blood sugar, which reduces food noise because when your cells are using sugar properly so you aren’t triggering the hunger hormones like ghrelin at inappropriate times.
As someone thinking of going on ozempic for health reasons, I don't want to focus on the number on the scale at all. I would do it for my health, to get more energy and so I can be here longer for my kids. My mum died at 62 due to complications with her type 2 diabetes. If I'm taking a drug to controll my weight or taking a drug to controll my diabetes, I rather do the first one.
AMEN! I went through a series of meetings with doctors (my physician, weight loss MD and internist MD) to review medical histories - all agreed that given the rampant heart disease and diabetes on both sides of my family, this drug would be preventative. So here I am.
If your focus is health, avoid the standard American diet. Avoid white flour and cereals and anything in a packet, exercise daily, and eat some fermented foods. Ozempic can do permanent damage to your digestive system. Do some research yourself :)
Does the food noise come back though when you stop the meds? I don't get how this would cause a sustainable long term diet change....
I suspect yes. Most people say it does. I think that’s why this topic and these discussions have been so vital - bringing awareness to the brain/gut connection. I’m not really using this simply as a “diet” or “weight loss” tool, I’m using it for preventative measures given my family history of certain diseases, so I’m guessing I’ll be on this drug or something similar for the rest of my life. I would rather treat now, then have to deal with treating heart disease, diabetes, bad knees, etc. you know what I mean? This is not a short term fix for me.
It's meant to be used long term...you find the dosage that sustains a healthy weight for you and remain on the medication.
As far as I understand they want you to be o the drug for life is not something you can use for q while and then stop if you want the effects to last
You’re supposed to stay on it forever. They are working on trying to make these drugs in pill form but it’s hard.
WE LOVE U GINGER!!!❤❤❤❤
lol what i do with my chips is i always open my bags upsidedown. maybe an ocd thing but also, flavour sits at the bottom and that way it can *maybe* redistribute but lets face it, bottom of the bags are the best and i want it first lol. but i suppose you could also kinda shake the bag a bit and poke it around to distribute lol. im not a popcorn person, i like me my chips, but maybe this may work?

I'm in Canada. My local pharmacy put up a sign a while ago apologizing to diabetics because they were experiencing a shortage of Ozempic and could only give a limited supply if it was available at all. I hate rich people who misuse this drug 😡😡😡😡😡
Ozempic is prescribed for diabetics and Wegovy is prescribed for non diabetics for weight loss and must be over a certain bmi. Most rich people are getting the compound version perhaps different here in the US
This was last year. The shortage is over now, thank goodness.
I'd be interested in hear the other side of the story. Like what happens if you stop using the drug? And also after so much time does it impact your overall health not only on the weight loss side but like your bones and muscle? Where is this drug process like the liver or other organ and will it be affected long term?
Thanks for sharing your experience, Ginger!
So interesting!
I always have to meal plan at least 5 meals so my fruits and vegetables don't go bad. Because if I wing it, they will definitely go bad. But I also really wonder if she needs a full dose. Seems like she should be able to taper down and focus on food because at some point she will be off Ozempic and if she doesn't focus on her relationship with food then she'll set herself up for failure
honestly i started freezing my own veggies if i see them going bad ahah, another tip is to add them to scrambled eggs. broccoli is really good in it surprisingly, most veggies really
@@brookejamieson1523 oh yeah the egg tip is great!
This is so great! When it comes to getting extra fiber I recently learned that some "carb balanced" breads are extremely high in fiber. For example Franz "Keto" English Muffins boast 22g of fiber in a 60 calorie muffin. How is that possible? Is that a good substitute if you aren't able to get in enough fruit, veg to get to the recommend 25/30g of fiber recommended for women?
Sprouted grain bread also has a lot of fiber. Mine has 5g per slice, and the slices are small.
The problem with the “high fiber” foods is that hey are basically like eating paper. Yeah, it’s a lot of fiber, but it doesn’t contain anything else. Fruit and vegetables also contain a lot of complex phytonutrients and vitamins and minerals. So you can occasionally use the products to get some extra fiber but you can’t rely on them all the time. Also, be careful when bombing your system with that much fiber- a lot of these products rely on types of fiber that can ferment in the gut and cause serious pain if you take a lot of them at once.
I would love to know which adhd medication she’s on that helps so much. I have the food noise.. and also pretty sure I have adhd which honestly makes life so hard.
Nice job Ginger!!
Taking Ozempic truly relieved those thoughts for me. It was so amazing
Please do a video on ibs -d
Google FODMAP diet and Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) and stick to real foods, meats, vegetables (low FODMAP), and fruits. For me it took years of restricting my diet right back to a few foods and then slowly reintroducing foods to see what I tolerate and what I don’t, as everyone is different.
I hear that it paralyzes your intestines when you’re on a long time and your bowelsand hardens your stomach wall. That sometimes the these effects are irreversible.
Yep completely possible, Ozempic works by slowing your digestion, sometimes it works to well, permanently. I have a feeding tube due to stomach paralysis, not from Ozempic, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone it’s not worth it.
Well if you don’t moderate your digestion while on any drug that affects your bowls of course in can cause problems. But so does being critically overweight - and to a much higher degree.
my mom has diabetes and was on a medication to treat it with these side effects years ago. it has completely ruined her quality of life and she cannot go anywhere that doesn't have a bathroom. it's also very embarrassing for her, so she's socially isolated on top of being chronically ill.
I think people should do their research and seriously think about their decision to take medications that could cause long term side effects like this
I don’t know about irreversible, but experiencing side effects from a medication may take time to recover from, yes. many side effects are rare, but they do happen.
This is a very rare issue.
I am on Rybelsus, which is taken orally and is like ozempic. I have had the worst case of gas and heartburn, and feeling Nausea and it takes forever to digest foods. it is really uncomfortable. So much so that I stopped taking it until I took my certification test because I did not want to be stressed, bloated, and gassy. I will start taking it after test however as I need it for my A1C. It sucks because if I can figure out what foods do not make me feel that way, then I can prepare and my A1C will be great. I can also relate to stressy bowel movements, I have been calling it the Metformin effect.
The other day I was shown an ad for ozempic as a weight loss option. It was really upsetting.
I don’t know if it’s a coincidence but my mind has felt better.. my mood better.. since starting ozempic
Two questions for Abbey:
Are the physical concerns, weight loss results and even the stigma the same for actual diabetics who are prescribed these drugs?
Any thoughts on monjauro for actual diabetics?
Thank you Abbey’
Has Ginger had her ac1 checked and is it below her original baseline? I realize she hadn't hit a diabetes range before Ozempic but went on as a preventer
Ok, could you give some advice on portion control? I actually always eat fresh food and I believe my macros are good, just I never feel satisfied…. Especially breakfast is hard. I don’t think I could qualify for ozempic as I’m just 156 pounds and very sporty, but it’s a struggle. I am either hungry or gain weight.
Gosh that first protein in the morning gives me chills. Am I the only one? 😂
Same I’m not a breakfast eater 😂
I'm currently breastfeeding so I can't take Ozempic or any of the similar drugs but once my baby has weaned I plan to discuss it with my doctor. The thought that I could be free of the constant food noise in my head sounds incredible. Even if I don't lose a pound, it would be worth it to just have my mind to myself.
breastfeeding uses a lot of calories. If you eat a normal amount of food, you will lose weight while breastfeeding. No expensive injections needed.
carnivore did that for me. proper human diet. meat and fat. as much as I want. I'm about 260 days in.check out kelly hogan dr Berry dr chaffee
Please do a review on Sam Ozkrual, she has a ton of crazy and mis information about PCOS, bloating and gut. She uses all the TikTok lingo, but she has so much misinformation I think it would be great for you to show the science behind it all.she self diagnosed herself with PCOS, and has so much misinformation on this topic, its alarming.
Interesting, I haven’t heard of her before in the PCOS community.
Out of curiosity, what happens if people stop taking semaglutide? Is this something they need to stay on long term?
There bowels stop working. Paralysis.Shit gets built up. Lots of intestinal issues. Definitely gain the weight back I don’t see how this is sustainable. People are just willing to shuck out an extra $1500 every month ….seems like it would be cheaper to get a personal trainer and a therapist.
Everyone I know on any of these have gained it back and more -they have do many side effects -sorry I don’t know how honest they are being !
So in order not to gain back the weight, you take these drugs the rest of your life and put up with diarrhea and nausea? Doesn’t sound like a miracle drug to me. Sounds like a temporary fix with bad health outcomes. As a dietitian you should listen to what message you are sending. Intermittent fasting will lower insulin resistance and hunger will normalize. And if you then go protein forward and low carbs, you will be healthy and lose weight. Read Dr Fung’s books.
@@kham6006 what made them stop taking it? Because I only know one person ( who was not taking it for weight loss. He was taking it because he’s diabetic.) who stopped because of the side effects. I can’t imagine that anyone would stop taking it unless they couldn’t afford it.. They can’t stop once they start getting thin …..look at Sharon Osborne for chrissakes! She seriously looks like a bobble head.
Yes. They are working on trying to turn it into a pill but it’s hard
Could we have the quinoa salad recipe please?
Thank you for sharing that rice upsets your ibs
Mine are blueberries, cucumbers, and sugar alcohols. The bloat, gas and pain are not worth it
Love your body, don't love being unhealthy. Being fat is unhealthy and it is being normalized along with t2 diabetes. This peptide is a lifesaver for many! Stopping the food noise is like stopping an alcoholics desire for alcohol. 🎉
I certainly notice it if I eat pure carbs in the morning and try to work out, the other day I had hash browns and no protein. I tried to workout and after about 15 minutes I was shaking so bad I had to stop. Today I had a piece of toast with peanut butter, did 45 minutes on the elliptical no problem. What you eat can definitely affect how you feel.
Congrats on your success Ginger, it is great to see your wonderful smile.
As much as some people have obesity due to genetics, medical conditions, medications, or hormonal changes, I believe diet is the major cause. Countries that eat more processed foods have higher rates of obesity and vice versa. For example, here in Kenya, extreme obesity is rare because we still eat more whole foods. Also, low-income earners here are mostly normal weight, as they can't afford processed/western foods. They are forced to stick to whole foods straight from their farms or markets.
Abbey! Just found out I’m allergic to eggs. Normally I have eggs for breakfast can you give me some high protein breakfast meals without egg thanks
Thank you for embracing new things like this instead of digging in against this like we see some dieticians and trainers doing.
Erm this is an ad
I can so relate to her.. how she doesn’t have the bandwidth to cook whole meals and have enough protein. I’m just too overwhelmed to get to that level.
If she isn't hungry in the morning don't make her feel bad for not eating, geez! And if she wants a cinnamon roll instead of the perfect amount of protein in the morning, let her!
Shes a dietician, and this is a specific, consented, conversation about diet and Ozempic, and there are things that improve your health and results on Ozempic including eating more protein to maintain muscle mass. And she was really talking about what made her body feel good and asking jf the cinnamon roll did that! Yknow? It wasnt that bad
She looks awesome!!!
I'm on wegovy(same as ozempic) and I am SHOCKED to see how much she can actually eat! I also can't even tolerate sweets.
Mounjaro has been a life saver FOR me
ive been on Semaglutide since September, I started at 273 and I am at 218 now. The last time I was 218 was the beginning of 2020. I am only taking 30 units a week currently and notice my weight loss is best when i am active and eat enough protein
Protein is keyyyy!! Im on the absolute same page as you. I need to take my movement up a notch and focus on eating more well balanced meals. I know that when I’m eating out or eating any meal, I start with the protein!! It makes a difference. :)
I've been a vegetarian most of my life. Started lifting weights, and now only count protein grams, not calories
the subtitles on this video are hilarious. Whoever transcribed this has never heard of Ozempic or Pepto Bismol lol
"...after 7 months on OIC"
You mean like that?🤣
@@cyn4476 yes, exactly
I'm on contrave, which is similar in use to ozempic. It has helped me a lot since I have a lot of trouble losing weight due to metabolism issues and disabilities that prevent me from being able to exercise properly.. but from what I've been warned by multiple doctors is to avoid caffeine as much as i can because it can make you more sensitive to the active ingredients and that can lead to complications.
I wouldn't say Contrave is similar to Ozempic. Ozempic is semaglutide and Contrave is a combo medication of wellbutrin and naltrexone, which have completely different mechanisms than semaglutide.
@@happytobe_here9483 I did say similar in use, not similar in composition.
My father in law doesn’t listen to us telling him to stop taking this drug. Yet he complains of his stomach stopped working and constipated and he got a endoscopy and colonoscopy to investigate 🤦🏼♀️🙄
Isn't it better that he listens to his doctors?
I think the difference in how we view obesity lies in how it developed. If you have a family who are all obese versus stress eating and becoming obese. So for some people it may have gradually happened overtime and they are ok with that, but someone who has a genetic component may not view it the same. Either are ok.
I wish Canada would hurry up and approve the drugs for weight loss. It’s not fair the way we are always so far behind the states.
