The fact that If It's Over, Loverboy, Your Girl, and When Christmas Comes are only considered "hard" says a lot about her discography.
I think if it's over is impossible what the studio version has phrased G5S with growls , an A6 in the middle of those belts the low notes , the riff at the end is constantly alternating from C5 to E5 to F#5 .that song is freaking hard

If It's Over should be switched with Vision of Love. VOL is hard if you aren't comfortable with runs but a lot of people can sing it okay.

To be honest, the only hard part of CTTA is the F#5s, but the entire last climax of AAO is impossible
@@renanrpm not, the lows, melismas and transitions in the climax leading up to the F#5’s are super hard as well. Whenever I sing that part it’s so hard to keep my breath
@@onedollarbleach6891 Apart from the F#5s and the run right after it, CTTA does not has any complex run or melisma. They’re numerous, but not hard, since they’re simple melismas. Against All Odds has continuous phrased upper belts+sustained high note that is harder than CTTA since the breath management you need to this has to be way more developed compared to the one you need to do simple runs.
@@renanrpm But those numerous melismas, that are rather quick, is what makes it hard leading up to the F#5’s and the impossible run. It makes that part harder bc it’s harder to retain breath support. Personally, every time I sing it I have trouble doing it smoothly and flowey and it just sounds choppy and bad. It’s like similar to when I saw you’s difficulty. It doesn’t have that much of a wide range wise as I think the highest belt is like a C5 or something, it’s just so hard to sing bc all of the numerous runs it’s riddled with

But she never sang Emotions in the original key. She lowered it at least a semitone. The reason why I would say Emotions is even harder than If It's Over is because If It's Over has one climax whereas Emotions has no climax-the whole song is a climax. There is no middle ground in Emotions, it requires constant singing in the extremities of the voice. The stamina that the constant phrased E5's, F5's, and G5's require is insane, low notes with the lowest being C3, fast riffs/runs and arpeggios, and whistle notes. It tests almost every register of the voice. If It's Over requires you to belt many F#5's in a row which does require a lot of vocal stamina, but it doesn't test every register of your voice the way Emotions does, plus until the climax (where you belt those F#5's) there's not much going on vocally in If It's Over, unlike Emotions where, like I said earlier, the whole song is a climax.
With some of these songs people may be able to belt as high but not also hit the whistles in the song. She really is a force to be reckoned with.

3) Music Box - anytime you need a friend (even though Withou You is also difficult as hell)
4) Merry Christmas- Oh Holy Night

7) Rainbown (Bliss? Can’t take that away from me)

9) Charm - My Saving Grace

I Don’t Wanna Cry is harder than Vision of Love. The phrased high belting of it is really tough. Mariah already give justice a lot of times to VOL and even surpassed the studio in some of them, but never sang IDWC as it is supposed to be sang.
Subtle Invitation has an impossible climax, but Yours is impossible all around. It has lows, high belting, a chest to whistle transition and phrasing in whistle.
@@tomasck2973 Mariah already sang Yiurs live, while never did Subtle Invitation. It has a reason... You need an extreme phrased high belting and a lot of agility to do, what makes it impossible.

Vision of love is harder than IDWC because of the runs. The songs needs a lot of agility and stamina. Attacking the highest belt of the climax (G5) like Mariah does in studio is impossible. She has never done that in original key. Infact, as IDWC, VOL need good upper CHESTYYYYYYY belt, which is the main difficulty. If we sing it like charmbraceletriah, (heady mix) things become easier I think but less impressive
@@ylieszeg4106 You’re right in parts, but VOL has vocal layers, and you can chose which you will sing, as Mariah did live. Also, the runs are hard, but Mariah delivered them very well and even made them harder in live performances, but she never could surpass IDWC live, having her best performance in Paris 1996 (in my opinion). IDWC requires A LOT of stamina, breath capacity and breath control due to the constant phrasing in upper belting and the too small gaps between the words. Also, IDWC has closed vowels in upper belting range, which is one of the hardest things to do properly.
I’m saying that based on myself, ‘cause I have as much agility as 2013 Mariah so VOL runs are not really an issue, but in the other hand, my voice gets really tired and cracks a lot in the last chorus of IDWC 😥

Vision Of Love, Emotions, O Holy Night, and Forever are definitely IMPOSSIBLE SONGS. Vision Of Love, Emotions, and O Holy Night all require a huge range and they test almost every single register of your voice. Emotions also really tests your vocal stamina with those constant phrased upper belts! Those upper belts also have to be done in an effortless way to convey the energy of the song, and Mariah is a queen of making impossible things look and sound effortless. And Vision Of Love requires A LOT of agility, with all the jumps between low notes and high notes and also all the riffs/runs. Emotions has quite a few riffs/runs as well! I think Emotions is the hardest pop song ever, Vision Of Love is a close 2nd, and O Holy Night is a close 3rd. And the thing about Emotions, Vision Of Love, and O Holy Night is, there are many people who can belt in the 5th octave, but not many people can also hit those whistle notes.
I'll just stick to singing background every time.😅
Singing all her songs in original arrangement even if in lower key will tell that all is hard and impossible to sing by a normal person. Mariah has it all specially in her prime. When God showered talents and skills vocally, Mariah took it all. Hehe. Her techniques is a plus but vocals specially whistle tone and notes are God given.
O’ Come all ye faithful at the very end when she whistles away is amazing! This song has been in my top Spotify songs since 2016.

I think most of these songs are doable for sopranos with good technique *and* good musicianship. Also, everyone hyperfocuses on the high notes and belting and sometimes that is not even the most difficult part of her song's arrangement.

Outside is not even hard. The Roof is impossible with all the intricacies you have to fo in your own voice -- going from full-chest voice to whispery, buttery, falsetto-like spreschgesang (sing-speaking).

There's many songs where she's doing the exact same thing "Now that I know", "Never forget you", "My all"; matter of fact, I'd argue "My All" and "The Roof" are harder than "Outside" which is just middle-voice singing with some onsets into the 5th octave.
It isn't a super duper hard song to sing and to do. Just say you don't have the technique to do it justice and that'd be better.
