You can skip songs and change volume using the "paddles" on the back of the steering wheel. Not the shift paddles, look on the back of the steering wheel near where your fingers would be when your hands are at 9 and 3. There is a paddle on each side of the wheel that has 3 buttons on it. The middle one is menu-sensitive but it's usually change source/favorites. It's also possible to switch your speedometer to an "analog" one in the settings if you prefer that since there is always a digital readout of your speed on the bottom of the left screen. Race mode is the only way to drive IMO. Sounds so much better and shifts with a nice kick. Throttle is annoyingly sensitive for stop and go traffic though. The door carbon looks great! Rare option...
Normal Guy Supercar . So As far as Financing a used Ferrari let’s say like a f430. If I was to put down like 20 k or 30k would u recommend doing that? I have money saved but I have no clue how I would go about getting one. I would appreciate your advice
@@georgepanagiotou8673 I would put as much down as you feel comfortable depending on what rate you get. If the rate is low, then I'd put less than if the rate is higher. Financing them is surprisingly easy.
Back side of steering wheel on the right will allow you to change songs up/down. Center ball changes source. Volume is on the left back of steering wheel
What annoys me most are the indicators. Pressing the buttons on the wheel short will make them blink constantly, pressing the buttons for longer makes them blink three times. This kind of logic to me is inverse and a kind of weird. And the control lights for it are on both sides of the tachometer and are a kind of covered by it. So from time to time I forget to take the indicators back (if occasionally they are not taken back automatically) and drive around blinking on the left or on the right.

For my car I have built in Bluetooth streaming but it will not display any information on the radio, I just control everything through my phone. The phone holder adapter you have on your dash how is that attached? Also do you plan on getting a remote installed radar detector on this car?
Congrats on the purchase! Got a quick question for you. How do tall guys do in f430 and 458. I’ve been in both of them and it was bad for me. I’m only 6’2. Kinda shattered my dreams lol.

Great.vlog. Love the channel. I have a 458 and I notice when you were on media settings you had your iPhone connected. I’ve been trying to connect my iPhone to listen to music (iPhone X max) with no luck. Every time I go to media there is only HDd and disc. I’m connecting iPhone to usb (is that wrong) should I be attaching to the iPod connector (which is the old 36 pin reduced to lightening connector)? Not that I listen to lox’s of music but sometimes it’s nice to have on. I hope you can help

I'm glad to know the IPod cable disconnect/reconnect issue isn't just my car. That's the reason I don't use the Bovee either. It’s really not that complicated man....steering wheel buttons select tracks and volume. The dial selects across options and push enters. What else do you really need, what’s the issue?
Headunit looks like something you’d see in a 1995 riced out Maxima. But small problem to have when you own a 458! Love that both your Ferrari are red on black! None of that beige business
Hey Dan, that *mono* in the AC controls enables you to control both sides (driver & passenger) from driver side "adjusters". Generally that button changes the "dual zone climate control" to "one zone". For example push mono and turn driver side temp to 72F and AC will turn passenger side to 72F also.
"RPM on Steer" - I would assume means "Revs Per Minute on the Steering wheel". This is where the lights flash on the steering wheel and when it gets to red line it changes blue or something. Then you know when to change gear. Similar to the way they have it on F1 cars
Congrats on your new car. I had a 458 coupe and spider and although I loved they way they handled their set ups are behind. After getting an Aventador in 13 I never looked back and have stayed with Lambo since. I like Ferraris but I think they need to update their dash with better displays and better ergonomics. Say what you want about having some audi parts in my 19 Aventador but I will take that reliability and ease of use over any current Ferrari system today. Hoping after the Tributo that they will try to push the design envelope and move to a more contemporary design.
100% a programmers playlist! I have the same issue in the BMW, it won't recognize the damn phone 5 out of 10 times plugged in. What happens if you hook an iPhone to that port? They sell 30 pin to lightning adapters (if you have an iPhone).
The only time I’ve ever used a radio in a Ferrari was when I took my daughter on vacation and rented a 488. However getting used to the quirks of an Italian car can’t be over looked and the radio is kinda weird. I noticed someone else mentioned the buttons on the back of the steering wheel so hopefully you can figure those out. I know I thought the buttons on the wheel for lights and blinkers was weird at first but now I wish all my cars were that way. Good luck with the 458.
Is the reason that the iPod functions don't work anything to do with your phone not being an iPhone/iPod? It's likely that the iPod function is intended to be used with an iPhone/iPod, and therefore doesn't know what to do with your Pixel 2 in terms of controls, song lists, etc.
That’s like the stereo quality in my s2000. But the car isn’t meant for that, the engine and exhaust note is music enough for my ears lol. Enjoy it, Dan!

When u do the oil change on the 458 video, can u tell us what tools to use/sizes etc. You got a great price on your 458, the paint work can always be redone. Thanks for the great videos. It’s nice to see a Ferrari guy work on his own car! Luv your channel!
Dan you should drop by a few car audio shops and ask them how they might fix your audio issues. You will gain a huge amount of knowledge from the audio pros "trust me". and you might decide to try to fix the audio issues yourself or have one of them fix the issues for you. But really do you need a stereo in a car that sounds like that?
Back when I used to work on Ferrari's, I remember when the 458 came out. I would PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) the new cars and as part of the inspections, I'd have to check the radio functions. I remember it took me forever to figure out how it all worked. They did not make it very user friendly. I don't know if the 488 is any better as I left the Ferrari dealership back in 2012.
Have to say honestly, I like the 430 dash more. I want a full set of gauges full time, as well as the speedo. Definitely like the 430 half din stereo, as is universal and easy to put what you want in there! Other than that, the 458 is pretty sweet to snide, lol....
Your stereo in f430 wasnt oryginal Becker. In f459 you have oem one. In my f599 is oem Becker and I’m very happy with open flaps in exhaust cos I don’t need to turn on stereo.
Been trying to convince my non-car guy dad to get a 458 for the past two years. I’ll crack him eventually... Love how in depth this video was as I was already curious to see how the whole stereo iPod situation was going to be. Thank you!
I ordered the hi fi radio on my F8, they said Apple play was 4500 option so I said no thanks after the sales guy said I could stream music over BT. I hope they upgraded music to play off their BT. I’ll text my sales guy tomorrow and ask.
The stereo in my new NSX sucks too. The stock stereo in my Corvette Z06/07 is Bose........it rocks!!! Don't even get me started about all the advantages of the Vette over the NSX......I love the NSX but GM really nailed it with the C7 Z06.........heads up display, removable roof, ventilated seats, front cameras, on and on.................
You don't have to disconnect the bovee, just turn off and then turn on your bluetooth. The buttons on the back of the wheel let you change songs. Also if you're using spotify or apple itunes everything should display.
Ferrari radios have always sucked. The 488 has a similar setup, but even worse! I’m convinced these cars were never meant to have audio (other than that lovely exhaust note!)
Quirky audio like my Alfa 4c. I can source bt, however it has to be reset every time you restart the car, fortunately the phone resumes the music correctly. Love your car!
Nice!! The only problem with the radio is that it has one.... LOL I guess sitting in traffic you might want to hear the weather or bob your head.... :-)
I have the same Bovee adapter on my 458. Just disconnect it from bluetooth in your phone settings after you start the car and reconnect it. Not ideal, but takes 20 seconds and you won't have to mess with the adapter in the glove box. Also, you can change songs, stations, etc., with the switch on the back right side of the steering wheel (feel for it with your hand). You'll get used to the rest of the weird switchology with use.
@@normalguysupercar Yeah, also note that there is a volume on the back left as well and that the two buttons for headlights and wipers / washers are bidirectional (i.e., push and pull). Enjoy!
I had a feeling you wouldn’t dig the functionality of the system and the dash being so digital and arcade like. Ferrari doesn’t care about your music bro. The only note they care about is the only one they want you to care about! The exhaust! Congratulations again on a badass ride and your 1st world problems! 🇮🇹🥇
Normal Guy Supercar Yes, I do a couple of driving tours a year where I’m in the car for six or seven hours a day, for four or five days in a row. Anyway, I understand everybody is different of course, so a sub-par stereo would be annoying to some.

I have the same hard drive and iPod system.
Yeah, it's not ideal but it's better than finding an Ipod.
@@normalguysupercar Mine works pretty good for me. Most times.
When u do the oil change on the 458 video, can u tell us what tools to use/sizes etc. You got a great price on your 458, the paint work can always be redone. Thanks for the great videos. It’s nice to see a Ferrari guy work on his own car! Luv your channel!
Certainly! I should be changing the oil in it within the next week or 2.
Not really, no. I don't need to upgrade the stereo as it's only there for occasional use. :)
I heard the 488 is just as bad unfortunately...
Is Mono not to over-ride passenger side climate to match driver side?
That's my best guess too.
Have to say honestly, I like the 430 dash more. I want a full set of gauges full time, as well as the speedo. Definitely like the 430 half din stereo, as is universal and easy to put what you want in there! Other than that, the 458 is pretty sweet to snide, lol....
Yeah, I mostly agree. I do like modern dashboards... Mostly. But I like having all the gauges there all the time.
Well done, and keep up the good work! Looking forward to more videos!
Thanks!
How have you mounted the pitaka phone charger?
I didn't have the charger, just the little mount that clips on to the vents
Congratulations on the new ride dude! Dan the man!!!!
Thanks! :)
Hi Dan. Can you pls help with the mobile phone holder you have. Looks like it works well.
Thanks
This was years ago, I don't remember
The dumb and dumber part 💀
You literally have the best inserts of anyone I've ever seen. So hilarious.
Haha thank you
RPM on steer. I assume have to be for the shift lights on the wheel :)
You assume correctly.
@@normalguysupercar Good to hear. I have driven a 458 Spider myself, and it is just awsome :) Great videos, Keep it up :)
Normal Guy Supercar set/turn on RPM on steer. Cool lights, especially at 9k rpm.
So, why do you refer to the new car as "4-5-8" instead of 458.....and the old car as 430 instead of "4-3-0"?
Rod Dahl ‘Cus
@@XrayDean Thanks....that clears things up.
I have no idea actually.
Thank you!
Yeah, prepare to be disappointed when you try to play music... But everything else is pretty amazing.
I ordered the hi fi radio on my F8, they said Apple play was 4500 option so I said no thanks after the sales guy said I could stream music over BT. I hope they upgraded music to play off their BT. I’ll text my sales guy tomorrow and ask.
Yeahh... Hopefully they finally have that feature that EVERY OTHER CAR has since 2010. LOL!
Yeah the C7 is a damn good car
So I have a question is there no way to rent a car for just one or two days?
Yes, that can happen
Normal Guy Supercar ok that’s great but the website won’t let me choose 1 or 2 days
Isnt RPM on steer for the LED lights on the steering wheel tach for when on the track?
Yeah I figured that out after filming. 😂
Great video Dan, you always get a tbumbs up... Huge fan, and I think you are a hell of a smart guy... keep the videos coming please😁😁😁
Thanks as always. :)
Same with my Porsche ! The owners manual says “your Porsche is not the optimal place to listen to the radio” they deff did it on purpose it’s awful
Hahah! That's so German.
F430 very simple inside, timeless. A,d such nice V8 sounds when you place the magic button to open the valves ❤️
Yes!
You don't have to disconnect the bovee, just turn off and then turn on your bluetooth. The buttons on the back of the wheel let you change songs. Also if you're using spotify or apple itunes everything should display.
This guy Bovees.
Yeah.. I just gave up on it and use the HD now.
Ferrari radios have always sucked. The 488 has a similar setup, but even worse! I’m convinced these cars were never meant to have audio (other than that lovely exhaust note!)
Yeah, it's like they're discouraging you to play music.
Quirky audio like my Alfa 4c. I can source bt, however it has to be reset every time you restart the car, fortunately the phone resumes the music correctly. Love your car!
Ugh that's got to be annoying
I'd like to see these cars outside...side by side!!! Congrats on the 458
I will do that as well.
I saw you like Lindsey Sterling lol I am surprised to find someone else who listens to her music! My fav is Shatter me
Yeah I have to be in the right mood for it but I like it.
RPM on steer, isnt that the shift lights on the top of the steering wheel?
Yes, I learned that afterwards. :)
RPM on steer is you can have the lights on the steering wheel flash When its time is shift
Yup, I learned that after the video. :) Just strange wording.
@@normalguysupercar yea they always have some weird wording lol
Hey- at least it’s not the parrot from my Alfa 4c!! And it still sits inside a 458. Lol
haha true.
Nice!! The only problem with the radio is that it has one.... LOL I guess sitting in traffic you might want to hear the weather or bob your head.... :-)
I like it on long highway drives. Those can be boring.
Wait, there's a hidden switch on the back of the steering wheel?! Dude. That changes everything.
I'm ok with this being the only complaint. 😁
Does this have the same jbl stereo system as the 488?
I'm not sure actually...
I now have a PhD. In a 458 radio function!! Thanks to this vlog .
Lol you're welcome!
I've literally never used the stereo in my 458, the engine sound is more than enough.
Any 3+ hour road trips? That's when I start wanting some music.
Normal Guy Supercar Yes, I do a couple of driving tours a year where I’m in the car for six or seven hours a day, for four or five days in a row. Anyway, I understand everybody is different of course, so a sub-par stereo would be annoying to some.
I have the same Bluetooth adapter on a Porsche 911 and it works very well as long as you have an iPhone. Remember, iPod adapter
Yeah exactly. I'm am android guy so I'm hosed.
