This review convinced me to get a 458. It was already one of biggest dream cars. Not quite at the level to buy one, but I’m working on it! Unfortunately sells for 2-3x in my country.
I met Shiv a few years ago in Danville by chance at a VitalityBowls. My 458 was in the process of being shipped from Houston so I asked Shiv a few questions about his while we he was waiting on his order. The funny thing I noticed in this video is that he has an FF and so do I. That was cool to see…
i need to drive one of these one day. i really like how the owner of the car talks about how the car feels, as an extension of the person. that was really cool.
Ferrari AGM Batteries needs a battery tender, must charge it in COLD WEATHER, not normal mode. Pressure sensor fix is $9k to 10k fix at an indy. That is a one time fix bc the sensor wiring harness/clips have been updated to take more heat. Wet Mode is super super smooth.
Great vid! I'll be getting a tune for my 458 from Shiv soon. One comment about the maintenance question. For general maintenance, it's just standard oil/fluid changes, air filters, and a serpentine belt. Rotors could/should last the life of the car, and brake pads are a bit more expensive than standard pads but replacement is no different. There's nothing special or different about the routine servicing of this car as compared to my Ford pickup. For example I do the oil changes myself for about $140 in supplies. Mine is 7 years old and has had ZERO issues. They're shocking reliable.
Awesome! Thanks Randi for watching, were you already a subscriber or how did you come across the video? Thank you for sharing more insight on the maintenance aspect.
I have owned multiple Acura NSXs, Dodge Vipers, classic cars etc. and they've been all very amazing in their own unique ways. But my 458 is the all-around winner with it's sexy appearance, balanced and predictable power and handling. I don't plan on "upgrading" to anything else.
@@danielaaaabeeeceee5126 Most models have no traction control so it's easy to get 'snake bitten'. A friend of mine learned that hard lesson and nearly lost his legs in an accident. I do love the look of a late 90's ACR Viper. I'll take black with silver stripes please.
the italia has my heart due to its looks, going back to the first time i saw it... to this day. neat perspective here by an owner that loves his ride. if i had been homie in the passenger seat, all i'd have been thinking is... can i drive it?

F430 / 360 are far more authentic Ferraris. People think the 458 is the "last of a breed." It isn't - it was the start of the new more refined period for Ferrari. There is something visceral and edgy about the 430 and earlier that the 458 just lacks. It's almost too polished, almost too perfected that is loses a sense of feeling or emotion. If people that went straight into a 458 are able to take a 430 or 360 out and really stretch them out you'll see the subtle character differences. It's that rawness that is the drug. And the rawer it gets, the higher the high.
I own both a 458 Italia and an F430 Spider. They're both great cars. There is nothing more edgy than a bad F1 transmission. I had my F430 converted to manual. Fun car, but not nearly as fun as the 458.

@@shouldigetit no hater here, I love Ferraris in fact. But when it's 14k on a McL it's hideous, why would it be different on a Ferrari? By the way... A service is a service, that's quite different, isn't it? Cheers from Italy!
I would say, if Ferrari is not prepared to allow a "normal" person to review their cars, they shouldn't sell them to "normal" people either. Other manufacturers are all perfectly happy letting anyone test their cars, that says it all.
@@shouldigetit what do they benefit from not allowing people to put them head to head? Its just a video. Seeing one car beat another wont sway buyers away from the brand
would you let a "normal" person review any F1 car ? against another F1 car? when performance is way way beyond their ability anyway and they have no experience or benchmark? because that's basically what he's saying - that to review these supercars you have to be ABLE to review them - which is not a universal skill.

This owner is really likable. I definitely don't need to be sold on the 458, but I have to say, it's awesome to watch how excited he is.
The owner’s enunciation of what it’s like to drive a 458 is the best I’ve heard!
He is great! Thanks for watching

The 650lt is a really cool car. But different.
Exhaust brand?
Hey how did you find those Carbon Seats for yours?
I've been looking for my 458 spider!!
Months of ebay hunting!
Does the tune make a big difference? My UK tuner has stated only 29 bhp increase. And it’s £1300 for that.
Email Shiv at OpenFlash. The 458 can't get much bhp since it's NA but the delivery of power is where the difference is felt.

360 is fun but it’s slow as molasses. 430 is definitely the sweet spot with the manual & early F136.

Never lol I drive a 98 dakota clucab 4x4 v8 automatic!
I like to full use and functionality out of my vehicles....I can tow....go off road and load groceries in the back cab and tool box on a rainy day

Relative to the car MSRP it’s similar to having a $30,000 car and spending $6,000 on a repair.
14k for a job and it's okay?!
That’s 6% of the original MSRP. Imagine a $3000 service on a $50,000 car. Doesn’t sound super crazy, right?
