The GT3 has been updated!
Porsche has just lifted the lid on the mid-life facelift of the 911 GT3 & GT3 Touring, and Mat’s flown over to Germany to meet with the head of Porsche’s GT division to find out just what’s changed on the new car.
Following the unveiling of the updated 911 earlier this year, Porsche fans may have been worried that the new GT3 would roll up with an updated, hybrid-powered engine. But we can officially confirm there is NO hybrid powertrain in the new GT3! It’s retained the same 4-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six as in the previous edition, and it still produces 510hp and 450Nm!
In terms of the design, you’d be forgiven for thinking that hardly anything has changed on the new car. And in traditional 911 fashion, not much has! There’s an updated bumper and some new headlights at the front, while at the back the wing has been updated slightly, while there’s also a new set of taillights. Otherwise, it’s all pretty much business as usual with the new GT3. And of course, that’s no bad thing!
On the inside, it’s all still traditional Porsche interior goodness. But there’s one BIG change with the Touring. For the first time ever, it’s available with a set of back seats!
So it looks great, is 100% petrol-powered, and the practicality has improved. But of course, it doesn’t come cheap… An all-new GT3 will set you back at least £157,300!! But is it worth it? Stick with Mat and see for yourself!

still the same...
Andy's facial expressions killed me lol
r.i.p.
best update: The freakin headrest for the seat! That was a MUST!!!
Definitely worth $40k more! So genius 😎
@@ThomasTheTankEngine22the way you like Porsche doesn’t make sense
@@sir_kalaI'm guessing he was being sarcastic
took them few decades to figure out people wear helmets on a track
For everyone complaining that these cars dont have more horsepower, you do not understand the entire purpose of a GT3. Porsche has NEVER been about adding crazy horsepower numbers. They are building RACE CARS. A Ferrari is also a race car but its meant to be a challenge for drivers to tame. Porsche is trying to simplify the driving experience, make it safe, and make it EASY to hit high speed with the most control. There is a reason that GT3 RSs are always near the top of leaderboard times on alot of tracks. Thats an experience that can not be replicated with 900 hp. Its a road going race car in the truest sense. Race cars dont always have block breaking horsepower. They have enough to sometimes break traction but not enough to overwork the chassis. The price is definitely high, but you are clearly paying for performance. Want to go fast in a straight line or shatter windows when you start your car, go get a Lamborghini or Ferrari. You want ostentatious, you came to the wrong place.
Can confirm, Drove my neighbor's 718 Cayman S handles like a charm, it has more than enough power and feels light as a feather.
You summarized that in similar way I think about the GT3.Bravo👍🏻
Nah bro. People want more horsepower. There’s a reason most cheap cars are low hp, and buying a car with high hp costs much more.
@NotAdamSnider Buy a turbo s then. There is a reason a 500hp gt3 rs is in the top 10 of the Nurburgring. More hp doesn't necessarily means faster.
Totally agree with @erouse
Tje GT3 is about handling, braking and the spine tingling sound of that awesome NA flat six, there's nothing like it.
Andreas seems so natural/approachable; made me feel like I'd really enjoy going for a beer with him and just chatting about cars. Nothing he said felt like "corporate speak."
I like it, the only caveat is the Guage cluster, the analog tachometer just looks better
Andreas likes it better, I would have to try it out to make my final opinion.
Look it seems with GT models, Porsche listens to their customers AND the faithful fan boys. That's why they don't change too much with these cars.
So hopefully the digital display is optional.
Porsche is very clever. The last 4 seat naturally aspirated manual transmission 911 was the 997. Now it's called the GT3 touring and is near the top of the 911 price range. Amazing.
991.1 Carreras were N/A
The 991.2 gt3 was sold with a 6 speed manual option
Be honest, who really cares about the rear seats?
@@oxfordbambooshootifydid they have rear seats though
@MrInternFTL people with children, friends, and so on. If you can take your kids on a drive with the GT3 Touring, now you have that option. Most of the people who installed rear seats on their GT3s say that they use the car a lot more than before, mainly because some drives that would be impossible without rear seats, now becomes possible.
Matt will love his GT3 RS more.
The Touring looks fantastic and classy ! 👍
I just finished watching the Top Gear Review... This one is way better...
So glad I got a 992.1. I was exvoted for 992.2 but the digital gauge cluster makes me sad. Very sad.
And I am happy that I prefer digital gauges anyway. And that makes me happy.
I'm happy I got my .2 order in. Drove it already and the corner speed is soo much better than the .1, insane really. But then that's me, I'm more about driving and not cosmetics.
I agree, digital gauges seem so tacky, like an Apple watch instead of a Tissot. Don’t think they will age well either
The loss of the analog tach is a bad thing IMO, but overall I think this one is better. I was very impressed by this announcement
That and the $40K price increase ON TOP OF THE ALREADY INCREASED PRICE from 2024 is just insane!
FP1 is starting....
Ferrari is looking strong right now 🙂
@@ratuldeoun7228rb now
one thing that is vital for a top end car manufacturer and this is something barely anyone points out, the presentation and the flow of how you lead the hwole "show" showcasing your product, 0 struggles and confusions, this is absolutely spot on
Andreas is great to listen too. He’s relatable and honest. Well done Porsche
4:47 Porsche playing the long game here 💡
I dunno why but a german guy saying hes like 007 to a british guy is just funny to me.
So no extra horsepower? 40k more than the previous gen is insane this better be 5-6 seconds faster than the 992.1 on the Nurburgring
EXACTLY!!! 3 time GT3 owner. Now own a huracan because Porsche keeps increasing the price to Ferrari levels with no real upgrade . It’s been 500 horsepower for 10 years now. I’m done with Porsche
The new 8% lower gear ratio will improve an already insane time
Also, if price is a concern... May I interest you in a Ford mustang?
Give me one I know u dont like it@jimsteinway695
10 extra hp compared to last gen
10 extra mate lol
Shame about the lack of the analogue recounter 😢
What a nice and kind man is Andreas. Love to hear him talk.
About the GT3: Good product, as expected, Porsche never disappoints. Love the subtle styling compared to other cars from the last two weeks from certain brands.
Andy's just a vibe 😆
Reviewing car with the maker is next level car reviewing. love it.
This new Gt3 Touring (w/ manual) is going to sell like hotcakes and will hold its value increasingly well over the years. This will be the one to get. Very excited. Andreas was a great sport with all of Matt's question, big thanks to him. I think this will be a big success.
Andreas is so interesting to listen to. Love his attention to detail and knowledge on the cars.
What a Humble man
For "someone who takes his kids on the weekend" 😂 too true.
He's only 58? I thought he was like 68 at least, what a legend
@7:02 as a driving instructor that is AWESOME - the number of times I've had to look almost down at my feet due to aggressive headrests is insane - that is a HUGE upgrade and such a simple one. Wow.
2:16 OMG!! There's perfection in this sentence...
I've been waiting for the refresh to happen so now that I know whats getting added and I love it. Definitely going to order a touring day 1.
911s are legendary ❤❤❤..
$40k should get us at least a 10hp bump over prev gen..
I hope the 992.2 turbo s will run a sub 10 1/4 mile time..
Just like the man from Porsche said during the gt3 RS review "it's made for corners!"
@@KarenTondro At that price point there should not be a tradeoff between straight line and corners. I know there isn't a tradeoff at Mclaren. It is simply both at the same time.
With the new hybrid turbos, man I'm sure it will run sub 10. Hope it's more powerful despite these new emissions regulations that might work against it.
@@Supcharged , then you should buy the MacLaren.
the 911 will forever be iconic
It is so German to think
They literally watched every review vs the old version and literally counted the smiles. And so when he says “produced more smiles” he wasn’t speaking in hyperbole. He was dead ass 😂
idk ive sworn to myself to keep training till the day i die and if i stop i must realize that something is wrong and try to learn from my training
Andreas seems like a really nice cool guy. Good to see they listen to customers as well.
i dont really ahve memory like that, i always go of what i get and fresstyle second to second
They should make that vent behind the front wheel from the S/T standard on future sporty 911's, it looks so good! 👌
@22:35 Mine is the opposite. Back seats, PDK, stickers, roll cage, Carrera White, raw carbon fiber, electric sports seats, R.
If you get the manual and the buckets it'll probably be worth more later
also the mindset to stay just good no matter what the loss may be
My god I fell in love with this green colour 😍
Porche 911 is just amazing isn't it
Hmm
True. This one is a bit of a ripoff tho
as a GTS 2018 owner, I can only hope the turbo protection / seals / exposure to road has changed, less than 24K miles and the turbos need replacing, so you need a warranty otherwise it's just short of 15K, there are literally dozens and dozens of these issues, so check. There's even an internal Porsche service bulletin, for issues just short of a recall but still happening a lot more than expected, get the warranty
Is it / was it possible to get rear seats in the non touring version for 992.1 and 992.2
1420kg still seems a little heavy for a sports car, I’m sure you could shave a bit off with aftermarket exhaust etc
It's always normal for Mat to test the rear seats of 2-door sports cars even for the first time ever the GT3 Touring
I have the 991.2 gt3, a week ago took the new “hybrid” version for a test drive, the electric assist motor “not really a hybrid” was impressive but the new dashboard that has no mechanical parts was too modern for my liking….give me my analog rev counter
Touring has back seats yaaayyy
Imagine how good cars could be without so many stupid regulations.
Long life Andreas , you know what I mean, cos I love GT3 that much
Why aren't you viral yet?!
whats with the pink ish watch time bar, am i coulor blind?
Now I can’t unsee pink ffs lol
@@LEEROY_UK 🤣🤣🤣
My sister and I grew up in the back of a GT3 literally the reason I will one day buy my own GT3.
No surprise that it was a struggle to make any improvements of consequence - The 992.1 was already such a well thought out car.
I swear that Porsche does new 911 every three months.
Porsche still making manuals puts a smile on my face, even tho I'll never afford to drive one of them.
they need to bring back the LeMans key for every 992.2
Since you listen to your customers, please bring back the analog and manual options for all 911 models
The more I discover Porsche, the more I love it!!! That's sooo good! Life will be worthless if I can never own a Porsche!
My local dealer just dropped $20K off their 2023 GT3 this morning, probably has nothing to do with the 2025 GT3.
Backseats = Happy Family GT3
I wanted the winged car with the back seats
We need a GT3 Cabrio manual😭😭
amazing episode and mr Preuninger is such an amazing person.
Nicely done Matt. You had a willing and highly capable co-presenter to help you, I see!
Way better than the premiere presantation.
Getting rid of bumper turn signals was a big turn off for me..the signature is gone..
Mat, I think this is one of the best videos you have ever made. Really good balance of new information, your opinion and letting us know Andreas more as well. As for the car, disappointed in digital tach and of course the huge price hike - but otherwise good stuff! Curious to hear, how much it will be quieter than 992.1 GT3.
No kids here, but now my dogs can sit in the back and that's actually amazing.
Could watch Andreas all day--his insights and knowledge really add alot.
Porsche literally forcing people to like the same car every year 😂
Really enjoyed this with Andreas!! Cheers lads!!
Yeah I'll just keep my 991.2 3RS but still some cool improvements minus the digital dash.
Imagine lads McLaren w1 vs porshe mission x vs rimac nevera rs vs MC murtry ..ohh my days my dream race
Yeah I agree the exposed Carbon bonnet spoils the look of the car!
Would actually love to see Mat Watson sit down and just talk to Richard Hammond about Porches. Like history and Heritage and stuff while they have a drive in their "bucket list" Porsche's. MAybe stop by a diner and just sit down and talk Porsche. They both lover the brand and know a lot about them.
I'm surprised the comments aren't super negative like I expected them to be 🧐
Porsche is just on another level. Very impressive tech and somehow keeping it "analogue". I like
Damn should have waited for this before watching the top gear video
Green is perfection.
Getting rid of bumper turn signals was a big turn off for me..the signature is gone..digital speed meter is gone..turn key ignition is gone..it’s just a buff now
Matt would even suite very well to the Porsche guys. I met Michael Steiner already. Such nice personality. Like in all companies. Not all are great but the ones on top are really nice and this is most important.
Touring was way overdue since they introduced it a few years ago. Many people wanted a GT3 but didn’t want to look like they were driving around in a teenagers cars with a giant wing that only matters for a tiny % of owners.
Emission this, emission that. But no emission on SpaceX? What a sad world we live in
You always keep it interesting!
Can’t wait to see 992 GT2 RS
brand names changing is so common
Props Matt, you are good at your job. This was very informative and entertaining!
Only miss is the gauges
So wich cars he has now?
but don't forget to sell earbuds to the kids sitting at the back. else they would turn deaf with the 9k rpm engine 😂
Nice conversation. Andy is very eloquent.
Love the way that guy talks about cars. These Porsches are the only performance cars I’d ever consider buying if I had the money. For now, I’ll stick with my 10 year old used VW Polo 😂
Nice interview thnks
i wonder when there is going to be a new GT2RS version because i only hear about GT3RS even though the GT2RS has even more performance
In summary,
Porsche go vroom-vroom 🗿
This is why i love carwow , great interwiew.
What are the characteristics of GT3 RS
Don't like the full digital dash. Like the analog part in the .1
This is like matt’s complaining sessions on the issues he has with his 992 gt3rs
Please keep posting I love your videos
Me watching this with 100 bucks in my bank account
