Very enthusiastic about this new Porsche: 3.0L => 3.6L , new pipes exhaust location with better looking in my opinion. Seems to have better outside sound due to the cylinder volume increase. The inside sound has a bit of fake coming from the speaker. The front looking is ok for me, i like the clean looking without indicators. I like the rear too, simpler. My misunderstanding is why hybrid while it doesn't allow to escape from the malus ? In the other side, yeah i would prefer the analog tachometer.
Getting rid of the classic tachometer, so so sad somehow. From youtubeposts i 'heard', the new GTS somehow has drifted too much away from the typical sound of the flat six, even the latter models. It almost sounds like a BMW or Merc.

As a daily purely for your commute? maybe, if you are not a motoring enthusiast. but in terms of performance, build quality, attractiveness, joy factor, and pretty much any other category, either of those cars are more desirable than a tesla. A tesla is a one trick pony with 0-60 and is soulless in my opinion. The only one I would truly want would be a model s plaid with the track pack. Obviously to each his own, but I would without a second's hesitation take a base 911 over either of those cars... There is no substitute.
Porsche always nails their cars. I am not a fan of hybrids but still I can't hate this. This is such a beauty and how efficiently wants to deliver. I just love this.. ❤
We could have this argument all day and night! Some say it’s the 991.1 or the 997.2 or the 993! Some say air-cooled, some say water-cooled and some normally aspirated and others turbo charged. There is no real right answer as it depends on what you’re looking for from a 911 and it is so many things to so many people. I don’t think there’s ever been a bad one, forget reliability there, but from a driver’s perspective, it still has a lot of the characteristics of the older cars and is so recognisable on the road, which is what makes it so iconic. I love my 991.1 for its howling engine, but the turbo 991.2 and 992.1s are great fun too.
Porsche's design has been going downhill for a while. Used to rely on flowing, organic shapes... but for years now they've been trying to introduce angular sharp lines everywhere and it doesn't work. The flowing, organic shapes make for future classics... those are designs here to stay.... while most of the angular stuff is briefly cool and then loses all its appeal and becomes just lame.
I dont like the start button im gonna miss their key turn because it feels more crisp doesnt feel like its gonna be a potential failure like a stupid button feels like and its a lot easier to keep power to battery on and start up because there is no latency in a key system like there is with a button hope it comes with a manual still
@davidkn you can run a hybrid drive train with a manual. The ferrari 296 could be done with a manual if they chose to. Also if you haven't used the buttons to turn on accessories, then try to start or put the brake and hit button at same time you will notice a latency and if you have to hit button twice it increases that latency it's extremely noticeable in cars like the land rover defender or civic type r, with the defender if you put it in park and then hit the button right after then it won't turn off because the delay to register park, civic type r takes ages to start if you had accessories on and I don't mean slow crank I mean delay before starter goes. Honestly, a manual hybrid would be sick because no one would stall them because you would have torque to get you going if it was linked to the flywheel or crank and if it was an electric motor separated to do a awd system it could get you going before you dump clutch like the lmp1/prototypes.
@@davidknyou can have a manual hybrid it just isn't common. Honda had it down to a T 20 years ago but for some reason decided not to continue to give the option even though most of their hybrids sold were in fact manuals
I just rented the 991.1 Carrera 4 GTS in Switzerland a day ago, and comparing to the new 991.2 I have to say: - the paddle/key starter was weird but cool, new push start button is ugly af. - full digital dash sucks, the analog tacho was so nice to look at and helped with the Porsche design experience. - cooling vents for the mobile phone in the centre console is a god send, my phone was basically cooking itself and got very hot in there. - those matrix LED high beams are amazing, narrow mountain roads in the dark and fog weren’t at all scary to drive with them, and the fact they could precisely dim certain parts of the road ahead was very useful. Surprised they could make it better and showing the width of the car would have helped in narrower sections. - that hybrid whine would annoy me. The hybrid system itself is awesome though. If I could buy one, it would be the GT3 though.
Once the t hybrid is fitted to the 992.2 turbo s it will be epic. Good tech engineering. It's a Porsche not a surprise all it's perfect. Ferrari Lamborghini Aston Martin take note.

@@bluesky9093 I wouldn't be so optimistic about VW, but Porsche? I think you could be right
That mpg was impressive
The track looked quite a bit more wet when the older model was doing its lap.
Thanks for the review matt, no I need i will go with the Toyota 1996 land cruiser!
12:03 Yeah, not sure about that since I got stuck in the back of a 911 Turbo S once...
Easter Egg on the old car: If you count the number of fins before the two stop light bars there are 9 on each side of the lights which total 9 1 1 from either direction. BTW, I couldn't help notice those two scars on your arm at 21:49; Hope it wasn't serious.
Yeah i also saw that probably a accident
It stands for 992 as well, if you take the 9 from both sides and the 2 lights in the middle.
@@Yanni1610 911 and 992! True that! Man you have a great car collection. It would be cool to meet you if I visit the UK next year. Sure would like to meet Mat too but I'm sure he would be too busy.
What a start to my day thanks Matt
Waiting anxiously for the new gt2rs
I really like the look of those front fins on the bumper! Looks rad to me.
The comparisons of any 911 always make me pause the video so I can look for any slight changes for like 2 hours
Tbh i never liked the start switch but now that its gone i want it back 😅
Apple: We've invented spacial computing 🗣️
Mat: It's a VR Headset 🤣
It's just AR, remember Google glasses?
is that.....artificial noise through the speakers?
Yes fake sound....
yes 100% sadly. The outside footage was very quiet and all air noise, it sounds terrible from the outside. Looks like we are losing the pops when letting off the power too, which is sad. I might not order one after having had the last 2.
yeh Germans faking things again
@@davidknIm honestly just wondering why it sounds so grunty lol
@@davidknyeah right
So is this have pdcc.? Or did you switch to another system?
Thank u, Porsche, for making it hybrid enough to please the suits but still I.C.E enough to keep it in my list of dream cars. Thank you 🙏
Wtf is up with car manufacturers not painting the bumpers. Raw black plastic is all over the place on modern cars and it’s hideous.
Hate this on my car. Going to get them paint matched some day soon before I PPF the thing
“Timer not working” hahahaha here we go again
When's the manual coming? 🤔
Imagine the turbo s
The .2 is still a great car. But I'm plenty happy with my .1 version, with its analog parts that make it feel just a tad more special.
A lot more special with the analog tach.
Going to get one soon! Turbo-s cabriolet (911)
Lucky guy! A Turbo S without a roof? That's probably about as close to pure joy that one can get. I much prefer the hardtop's looks personally, but the experience of a convertible Porsche is truly blissful. Enjoy! I'm a jealous man. I hope to get there one day before they become unobtainable collectibles. Hope you drive the hell out of it! 💪🏼
As a long time 911 fan, My heart almost touched the ground when he said to avoid it💀
I know he said it as a joke but you scared me there😂
I love that Porsche have kept the weight down and not made it heavy because of the hybrid system.
So glad I got my 992 GTS when I did!
Just ordered the new GTS, so much of a step up from my current GTS. You'll be driving an antique once the new cars start to appear. LOL.

Hey Mat, can you run this new entry 911 with 396hp vs an A45s with 421hp, please!!!!! 🙏
If all you care about is 0-100 times, then obvs get the A45s (or a Tesla)
Tesla will beat them
911 base will be quicker the 60 and the 1/4 mile too
@@Lemingtona-x5gnot sure who would rather have a Tesla over either the 911 or the a45s.
@@blakewhite8831over an A45s? I would definitely get the Tesla. Over a 911? No.
The new fish gill air intakes is just AWFUL
Blub
As a hybrid user myself, this car gets me very exited. If I ever have the money I will buy the GTS for sure!
Porsche always nails their cars. I am not a fan of hybrids but still I can't hate this. This is such a beauty and how efficiently wants to deliver. I just love this.. ❤
I'm just hoping this means the new GT2 RS is coming soon
992.2 Turbo S engine on a GT 911 is wild
It’s death by one thousand cuts with Porsche. The 991.2 was peak 911.
Agree
Manual coupe 2wd GTS
Agree totally.
NO💀
I dont like the start button im gonna miss their key turn because it feels more crisp doesnt feel like its gonna be a potential failure like a stupid button feels like and its a lot easier to keep power to battery on and start up because there is no latency in a key system like there is with a button hope it comes with a manual still
what on earth are you talking about, failure, latency 🤣. No manual, can't with a hybrid
atleast you won't miss hybrid
@@Afraz_9n3 not with this hybrid you can’t.
That's a Rimac battery btw. Also, great use of VR! (/AR)
I just rented the 991.1 Carrera 4 GTS in Switzerland a day ago, and comparing to the new 991.2 I have to say:
- the paddle/key starter was weird but cool, new push start button is ugly af.
Looks like a maintenance nightmare. Whenever that hybrid turbo system gets a few years on it prepare to shell out some serious money.
Electric and sceeens. Ridicoulus!
Once the t hybrid is fitted to the 992.2 turbo s it will be epic. Good tech engineering. It's a Porsche not a surprise all it's perfect. Ferrari Lamborghini Aston Martin take note.
Mat you get to play with all the best cars
Looks great. Imagine the repair bills in 5-10 years
Another 911! Ohhh.. The Camry of sports cars.
I've decided there's not going to be a recession.
Lol wha? 😆
You mean *DEPRESSION*
A very large bank collapsed in China and Russia is kicking the West in the teeth.
I don't know why, but @5:00 when I heard the exhaust sound like a vacuum and then heard the fake noise piped in over the speakers, it really bummed me out.
You don't know why? Because it's sad af, that's why
@@jamiered7102 Yeah... sad to see it happen. The only thing keeping me going is the upcoming BMW M5. I heard a while back that its going to be a true driver-centric performance car with the best power-to-weight of any of the previous generations. It's going to look fantastic, retro styling and everything.
@johna.4350 the one that weighs more than every other car ever made? Lol, well almost. More than suvs and pick ups too
Not sure if a 4WD has only 0.3 sec advantage over the 2WD on a circuit lap. Great video❤!
Outstanding performance for sure, but the price politics of Porsche are sick. This alone is a no go for me. Got an Alpine A110 GT instead.
