The liftoff regen is such a misunderstood concept even manufacturers like Porsche can't be honest about it. Regen on accelerator release is a way to remove the lag between acceleration and deceleration: you absolutely *can* coast with regen even at its maximum setting, you simply need to be more precise with the throttle, which is why on the motorway you would lower the regen, while in town or country roads you would increase the regen effect. Obviously if you drive more sportily you would prefer less regen so you have a wider accelerator curve and you would use the brake anyway.

It will make the depreciation of the Taycan look sensible. I spoke to my Porsche dealer recently, and he is terrified of this thing, and basically wish it had never been created.
@@AB-80XPorsche will force future buyers to buy this thing alongside Taycan 🤣🤣
Good means the average folk will be able to afford it used
@@caidee They will try, but it will be a lot harder.
I was planning on buying a Macan next summer when my current car is paid off, now that it’s went fully electric I will not go anywhere near it! Very disappointing!
It gets a D.....for depreciation 😊
That's good for me in the future.
Like all the mass produced cars ever invented for the last 100 years. What r u on about?
@snakeeyes9246 good for a lot of people claiming the depreciation as a tax write off.
As opposed to every other car that appreciates?
It gets D, like your mum 😳
being electric isn't the issue, it's the looks. What they did to the back end is unfortunate
Did Porsche borrow BMW designers for a project, or is it a rule that EV crossovers have to be hideous? This is iX levels of being hard to look at.
To be fair, are there _any_ nice crossovers?
@@drunkenhobo8020 Not anymore, the last Macan was probably the only one.
It's terrible indeed
Agree. It looks like it's an obese version of last generation macan lol. All porsches, even the cayenne, look sleek and streamlined in some way. This just does not imo.
Nothing looks at fugly as the BMW iX.
God, I just loved the old Macan. The only thing I wished was the newer interior, now the only thing I wish it had is an engine. God damn it Porsche.
it is a beast of an EV.
i am pretty sure that it will sell well. the next iteration will be interesting, it is expected to have a lighter battery. maybe they can shave off 100kg. the motor looks heavy as well.
i guess the next version will not be a revolution but a small step of evolution
the HUD is so big
my gosh how did they manage to fit in there
So big I just keep staring at it ❤
As huge as the package Matt is carrying.
The panel on a 95k car moves when I press a button? I don't know if that sounds right
2:20 “Going back to their roots” yeah an electric SUV just screams heritage
Mat was on about the design when he said that, not the engine 🥱

Looks much nicer than most electric options. Tesla’s look like the front and back were designed by two different people who never met…
Tesla Model Y has different options.
new 2024 model 3 looks a bit better.
@@Just_a_random_birbno it doesn't this guys comment was spot on. The new model 3 looks like a weird Chinese fish from the front albeit more of a sleek design but then the rest of the car turns into the iconic tesla "blob" design. People buy teslas becuase they are cheap EV options not becuase they look cool.
@@G82Watts The old one looks like a frog. Which one is better? The chineese fish of course.
Its a huge misplay by Porsche to ditch fossil fuel from their most popular car. They will come back fast though.
Ever heard of emission regulations, especially in the EU? There won't be an ICE Macan (or 718) again. Also Porsche already stated a couple of weeks ago they were overwhelmed by the amount of preorders the Macan recieved (over 10.000)
Yeah,
"Novelty effect"

Not having an ICE meaning much less and much cheaper maintenance. It's a good thing, actually.
Data gathered by Consumer Reports from owners of over 330,000 vehicles ranging from model years 2000 to 2024 show that EVs are 79 percent less reliable than ICE-powered vehicles on average
I can imagine that EVs from the early 2000's are very unreliable.
Nonetheless, I was referring to scheduled maintenance (in Brazil, they are called "revisões"), which are very expensive for ICE-powered vehicles and, whithout doing them and paying whatever they ask, you lose the warranty.
Every disruptive tech starts worse than the previous one. Think SSDs. I bet the early SSDs were much less reliable than they HDDs counterparts. Yet, here we are.
I like the model before much more. I would go for an Audi SQ5 before I would get this one
The only Porsche that looks like a chinese clone of itself
Back from Peugheot, front from Fiat Panda, that is amazing Porsche design
i cancelled my order for this, ordered a fully loaded Polestar 4 performance and saved around 30k also.
You are not going to save anything pal. Vertical depreciation is the new term for EV cars. Polestar was valued at ZERO dollars recently, volvo are dumping onto the Chinese.
Can’t understand why would design the rear camera to stick up and be invisible whole time. Why not hide the rear camera under the spoiler. Where is the roof spoiler? wich would make the look less bald…. There is so many ugly and wrong details witch make me question about is Porsches head of design fit to job….
Poot guy
You saved $30,000 on the price tag, but you will lose that $30,000 on resale instantly

The switches in the back may be a real issue. I sold a Porsche Panamera the other day, AC toggle fell off in the rear cabin. Not snapped, just fell off and got lost.
New button - $4000. It requires a panel! Porsche have missed a trick by not supplying buttons on their own.
All the older versions of cars look way better than the new ones these days

This style of content and breaking down the interior are absolutely fantastic. Everything was so smooth and clean.

All cars look better in green - even the Italian jobs
Rear side airbags as an option is unforgivable!
Worst part is that having some air bags as a paid optional extra is a thing all German car brands do. Their true roots from Nazi-Germany never truly disappeared.
It has rear curtain airbags. We are talking about rear torso airbag which isn't standard in any car as far as I know, because it isn't needed to get a five star crash test and it is not recommended if you will be using rear car seats for kids.
If only they made a petrol version..... Porsche is so bloody annoying with the extras too
Baboon’s bottom 😂 once seen can’t be unseed!
😂very accurate

Charging people for airbags is crazy
no it's not
Not correct. Side airbags cannot be used with child seats in the rear. That is why they are optional.
@@BlixemBlixem Yet they cost money.... Not a valid excuse, shouldve been free to add then. Plus pretty much all cars got switches in the doors to turn off airbags wherever there are childseats.

Turbo's a trim level,
@@MrCosmin94 that’s what it is nowadays, back then it had an actual meaning, if there was „turbo“ written on a car from Porsche it actually had a turbo. I don’t like the new policy for usage of these terms. Idk just call it performance
@@Audi-Junkie_0210 all do the same. Remember then a T5 and a D5 used to show u got a 5cyl engine on a Volvo?
Hate they call an EV a Turbo, it's absurd
The liftoff regen is such a misunderstood concept even manufacturers like Porsche can't be honest about it.
Regen on accelerator release is a way to remove the lag between acceleration and deceleration: you absolutely *can* coast with regen even at its maximum setting, you simply need to be more precise with the throttle, which is why on the motorway you would lower the regen, while in town or country roads you would increase the regen effect.
Obviously if you drive more sportily you would prefer less regen so you have a wider accelerator curve and you would use the brake anyway.
They should named this car Taycan SUV instead. lol
Wonder when someone will start to release twin-turbo electric cars. 😂
Maybe an (B) i-Turbo ?
