Ferdinand didn’t originally design the VW beetle, nor the 356. Paul Jaray designed the first aerodynamic car, the Tatra T-77, Hitler was a big fan and got Porsche to “look over his shoulder” (creating the Type 64). Unfortunately because Jaray was a Czech jew, nazi germany have done everything they can to erase him from history. Tatra sued Porsche and won. Jaray didn’t receive a penny.
@@DYTASTIC You’re welcome. I only found it out recently myself. Jaray (Yareye) was very much ahead of his time. He worked for Auto Union (Audi) among others and designed the first car (Rennlimousine) to reach 320 km/h (198mph) in 1935!! *edit, Jaray was Austrian, Tatra is Czech.

1:15 I just need to clarify some stuff here. Peugeot sued Porsche because during WW2, Porsche and many high members of the company were really close to Hitler (like best friends) and Porsche forced Peugeot industry to make missiles for Germany, deported almost all high members of Peugeot and even executed one as a warning. So, many years later, Peugeot simply got their little revenge… (Peugeot didn’t sue BMW or Ferrari even tho they were using names with the "0" in the middle). Fun fact, Peugeot did everything they could to not make missiles, they even destroyed parts of their industry by themselves to not make one, and they amazingly never made one single missile for Germany!
Well to be fair Porsche was started by Ferdinand Porsche who was literally tasked by Hitler to create Porsche and Volkswagen Also which BMW and Ferrari have a middle 0 in their name?
@@Moakmeister yeah look into the history of the old guard when you can - it’s incredible. Mercedes-Benz is the oldest followed by Peugeot then Tatra. ^^
After WW2, France arrested Dr. Porsche, and demanded 1 million franc ransom. It took Porsche family 2 years to gather enough money to pay the ransom and get Dr. Porsche released from prison. I heard both father and son were arrested and put into prison, and the family decided son need to be freed first, since he could work and earn money, where as the father was too old to do so. So they paid ransom for the son first.
17:05 the 944 ended production in 1991, the front driver and passenger airbags were added in 1987. They were also only standard on the 944 Turbo, and optional on normal trim 944s
"Peugeot being the annoying joyless crybaby they are" Ferdinand Porsche stole their factories and deported the majority of the Peugeot family during WW2 and got out after a few months in jail unpunished for his war crimes but yeah... I guess that doesn't mean anything =D
on 13, the 917 (nine one seven, not nine seventeen) didn't have a v12, it had a flat 12 made from 2 flat 6s, because porsche had experience making the flat 6, but not any 12 cylinder, as the f6 is whats been used in the 911 since its birth

When it comes to the question of what vehicle in Porsche‘s lineup saved Porsche from bankruptcy, a more accurate statement would be the Boxster I would argue saved Porsche because it kept the lights on and the money flowing from it’s successful sales from 1996 to 2003 for them to make their next big project, which was the Porsche Cayenne SUV which made it debut in 2003 as the base model with the 3.6 L V6 with a six speed tip, Tronic automatic transmission or an optional six speed manual which no one really got so it’s a rare option Porsche released two new versions of the cayenne, the Cayenne, S and the Cayenne turbo S the turbo S was the one with the 4.8 L V8
Fun fact, The 901 maming issue isn't simply pegeot being a Karen. The pegeot familly refused to the nazis and the vichy France the use of their factory and tooling, going as far as asking the RAF to bomb it (some members of the familly where jailed for this "treason". So ferdinant Porshe, a nazi, naming his sport car the same as one of their best selling model was kind of a problem to them. Adding to that, they used the 0 as a way to recognise the brand trought the models names, as 0 was put around the lever before the apparition of starters. They normally would let it slide with other brands, but here used it to fuck Porshe in court.
Great video but as a long time Porsche lover, hearing you say the name wrong every time was a bit annoying. In all fairness you said you would be pronouncing it wrong. ✌🏼
Peugeot never threatened to suit. Porsche changed the name of the 901 of their own will to avoid future issues with the French manufacturer. They own the rights but never made a model with that name to this day.
PCCB used to only be availible with yellow calipers, but as of the newest generation you can have PCCBs with yellow or black calipers. also with the porsche custom program they will paint the calipers any color you want, if you are willing to pay porsche will do just about anything to your car through their special request program.

22:07 That is actually not true. Porsche did the Porsche RSR, where they swapped the engine and transmission, making it a mid-enigne car. It's not street legal tho
At 6:34 Fact Number #29, the so-called left hand mounted ignition switch was completely debunked by Porsche. This was a long running belief that the left-handed ignition switch was developed for quicker Lemans starts but was actually just the result of simpler design criteria. Jay leno also brought this out a number of years ago. (Not trying to nitpick here, this is still a great video - thanks for posting!)
Boy that left hand starter has the life of Bigfoot. The first Porsche was produced in 1948 ( type 356 ) The first Le Mans entry was 1951. Porsche had to be some type of of Nostradamus to say in 1948 “ Hey let’s build a car with the starter ignition switch on the left because it will give us an advantage when we race in Le Mans for the first time 3 years from now. Cost was the reason. Less wiring to run from the left. They were practically building these Cars by hand back then.

22:08 Nope, there's another one. In order to fit a big ass diffuser to the 2019 911 RSR race car they used the chassis from a 718 Cayman which is mid-engined. That diffuser wouldn't fit on a rear-engine.
One more fun fact: They once made the 911 engine into an aircraft engine since most piston aircraft engines are horizontally opposed, it's called the PFM 3200.
12:01-12:22 Correction on # 51: Porsche AG & Porsche SE are different entity (Porsche AG is an car brand/marque owned by Volkswagen Group (AG), while the Porsche SE is a holding company).
