Nice review, been a Trower fan since the summer of 76 when I picked up the new Live album and it blew my mind, right up there with Johnny Winter Captured Live which I purchased earlier that year, didn't see him live until 1986 at a club in Toronto, great show but wish I could have seen him back in mid seventies. Will be picking up this set but waiting for the price to come down, here in Canada everything is ridiculously priced, curious to hear the longer versions of these classics, would be nice to see a future repackaging/expanding of For Earth Below next year, Incidentally regarding the live album there are 5 yes 5 unreleased to this day tracks from that Stockholm concert that are available here on YT if you search and they are pro recordings just like the official lp ( Day Of The Eagle, Bridge Of Sighs, Fine Day, Gonna Be More Suspicious and Confessin Midnight (encore) ) so WTF still no deluxe edition of the complete concert to this day! Cheers.

The CDs are worthwhile, I'll be able to play them in my Car CD player. Decent review, cheers.

Ya know, with many cars now being produced without cd players I hadn’t even considered this. Probably wouldn’t mind the louder master in the car as it would be easier to enjoy over road noise. Thanks for watching and commenting!

The album blew me away when released. Still a favorite.

    Saw him in Tucson '75ish.
Frampton opened - taping his live thing.
    The rugs kicked in
and Robin blew the ceiling away.
His first album is cool too.
    Peace on earth.

About 1989 my work colleague Mark, who was a MAD JH fan, and I were chatting about music: I said I was a HUGE Trower fan. He very passionately said he effing HATED RT. Both RT and Mark lived in an English county called Essex and I asked if RT and he were neighbours and if RT had a cat that came and cr*pped in his garden. 'No, he's just a Hendrix copy'. After admitting he hadn't heard ANY of the music and his opinion was from the music press I lent him a cassette with the first three albums on it. 'FAN BL**DY TASTIC' was his reply when he returned it to me. Yes, influences but no NOT a copy. The same tired false accusations still around 20 odd years later when I had a chance conv with two guys on a train who were talking music. So sad that this is STILL the view over here in the UK but commentary I've seen from the US music press is just a distinct Hendrix influence...
Robin, now 79, played a totally amazing concert here in London two days ago: he truly belied his age, his aggressive style of playing and energy on the night you would have thought he was 40 years younger - I was in a group of 6 fans who have followed The Master for a minimum of 50 years each, with multiple concerts attended, and we ALL agreed on this. Finally, I really cannot imagine my life without Robin's amazing catalogue of music enriching it.

Hendrix is NOT Trower and Trower IS NOT Hendrix Jimi invented the art of psychedelic blues guitar. He Has no equal. Trower copped a few of his licks and uses one of the same stomp boxes. He is not a copy of Jimi. Stevie Ray took both of them deeper into the blues and was incorporating jazz into his playing when he was killed. I get tired of people lumping the three together and accusing one of them of ripping another one off. Stevie's brother Jimmie used to make fun of him by calling his playing "Robin Trower shit". But Jimmie, while accomplished in his own right, is an asshole. (I've encountered him a few times) So just let them each be who they are don't confuse them.

Well, this is discouraging.... I have a two-channel set-up like the boomer I am. I also have (and love) the MoFi disc. But I need the "unedited" material in spite of your concerns about it, and will no doubt end up getting this (to be my fourth, I think, copy of Bridge of Sighs as well). It just hurts. Thanks for your thorough breakdown, we always want the truth!

I agree with you on the unedited mix. I was going to buy the two album set on vinyl, but when I heard some sound samples of the unedited mix I just didn't care for it. It would be interesting to hear it a few times, but I would not play it it enough to make it worth while for me to buy it and this is coming from a long time Trower fan. Not criticizing at all, just my opinion.
