- Hi all ! Today I'm taking a look at the new Super Deluxe Edition of "Fragile" by Yes !

My first Fragile was the cassette version ( not the PINK plastic version!) In 1972.
I had the 8-track, 1 vinyl, 3 CD versions leading up to this release- not purchased.
Thank you, Ian. Enjoyed that. Now I need to get out Fragile and give it another full listen.

I've been a huge fan since 1972, I saw them live in 1978 at Wembley Arena, to this day its one of the top 3 concerts I've seen in my life, onto this box set I only wanted the Atmos mix and the live stuff so for me I hope they do a stand alone, £99 pounds is to much for stuff I don't need, Atmos mixes on this and other albums give a new listening experience, Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells is another stunning mix, its hearing the album for the first time, I did have a 5.1 DVDA of Fragile and it was good but Atmos takes it to another level, thanks for the review great detail and I'm glad you've discovered Steve Howe as a fantastic player.
@@clivesilver463 I wish I could find Tubular Bells 5.1 ! Maybe if I’m patient it’ll be reissued in atmos soon
@@ShedSoundsMediawithIanBeabout It was a Super Deluxe edition issue and a limited amount but it showed the power of Atmos, hope you get a copy.

@@ShedSoundsMediawithIanBeabout I just like it as a short alternative without all the stopping and starting of the fast sections. I still love the original, one of my many fave Yes songs.
Great review, Ian! I wasn't intending to get this, since I have the original vinyl and the SW box set of remixes. However, having all the early versions available makes this worthwhile for me.

@@liam8084 I didn’t catch that due to the fact that I’ve only heard Relayer a handful of times (and only once within the last couple of years) but that is indeed a cool Easter egg !!
I totally thought that the instrumental versions gave those amazing songs a TOTALLY different feel from what I was used to hearing! More of the subtle interplay is exposed!

I noticed the SW mix does have noticeable clarity. Darn good. You’re spoiled by the Tull sets. Bursting Out book is soooo good on loads of stuff. The Recording info is super. Such a quality package. Ideal to take in the car too.
@@Phlakaton88 I love it when people say “I wish I was a bigger Tull fan than I am cuz their reissues are the best !” Can’t think of many other artists I’ve heard that about. They are indeed the gold standard for me.
Although, Perpetual Change (live) is incomplete as it fades out at the start of the drum solo.

All vinyl records are cut to fit the medium. So, the flat mix will always be cut accordingly as for a CD. It isn't an easy nor fast process as it is done in either real time or half speed. What mix did Bernie use? I suspect it is Wilson's stereo mix.
@@ignatzmuskrat3000 he used the original mix, Wilson’s mix is not on the vinyl.
@@ShedSoundsMediawithIanBeabout cool. That mix is on the 2015 Blu-ray. I still have my original vinyl cut from that mix. I always wanted to hear it but sans the pops and clicks and they delivered. I don't know who cut my 1972 Atlantic records vinyl, though.
