No mention of African shell dwelling cichlids? They only get about 1-2”, have all the personality of the bigger African cichlids, and you can have a decent colony in a 40 gallon tank. I currently have 6 adult multifasciatus in a 40 breeder and they breed like crazy. Every time I look in there, there seems to be more new fry in addition to the older ones. I currently have maybe 50 fry in there with the adults.
I'm glad you mentioned the royal acara (the diadema) I absolutely love mine and I'm surprised they're not more popular. I have mine in a 125 planted tank and I'm looking to get other plant safe cichlids og similar size do you have any suggestions?
Yes Acara in general need more love! Depending on what type of substrate you have, geophagus steindachneri have great personality...but if you have dirt then stay far from them. I would stick with south American fish so other Acara like the electric blue is a always stunning... or maybe a dwarf pike, as long as you don't have fish small enough to be eaten like 1" sized fish
As far as the US native fish, I would also include bluespotted sunfish, banded sunfish, blackbanded sunfish, or orangespotted sunfish (if you can find any).
What's good DWS I have 4 40 gallon aquarium on a double stand in there I have Turkana Jewels Goldface compressiceps Fire fin compressiceps My other last 40 gallon is full of water but nothing in it but I'm Goin to pull 1 of deez fish not sure which 1 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾on video

Yes, that's actually a group of fish still on my wish list...the way they've adapted to use shells is amazing
Some beautiful choices. Many I’ve never seen before.
Your fish room is looking great! Thanks.
Thanks Ben

Bolivian Ram(s) with Tetras & Ancistrus
Apistograma(s) with Tetras & Ancistrus
Kribensis with Congo Tetras
Great video 😊 DETROIT
