11:12 this is not entirely true.. if you do occupy this pcie slot your thunderbolt ports will work but would share bandwidth with the device used here, however it could start to saturate the bandwidth of your TB capability. I've tested this to some degree but haven't found it to be too big of an issue using an eGPU. One issue does arise when you use that third PCIE slot is that you may not be able to send a DisplayPort signal through your thunderbolt to a monitor unless you have CPU with integrated graphics. At least that's what the manual suggests.
I'm excited to see how well tb4 will integrate with existing tb3 audio and video devices, like audio interfaces and blackmagic designs line of equipment
I understand that a lot of people are not happy that there's not a bluetooth option and to me wifi is pointless on a content creation machine, that being said I use a EVEO bluetooth 5.0 usb adapator on this board, Total plug and play no issues.$16.97 on amazon. it works amazing.

That's supposed to be fixed with AGESA bios update. However they're still in BETA so I can't confirm yet. So yeah, good board if you plan on taking advantage of thunderbolt. Otherwise there's better options out there for cheaper.

UPDATE: It's all packed up to be returned. this is the biggest pos i've ever purchased. they're just setting themselves up to be laughed at, or to even lose loyal Asus customers.

If you use a CPU without integrated graphics and you if you want to run a monitor through thunderbolt you'll need to send a displayport signal with the included cable you get with the board through your discreet graphics card to the displayport in on your IO. 99.9% of the time this is fine because you can daisy chain two capable 4k monitors or run a single 8K from that USB-C 1 port. This comports thunderbolt 4 standards. If for some reason you need both of those USB-C thunderbolt ports to carry a displayport signal you will indeed need a discreet graphics card and a cpu with integrated graphics. This would probably be a very rare case need. Edit, all this stuff only matters if you plan to run a monitor through thunderbolt, your two ports will still have bidirectional thunderbolt bandwidth out of the box without trying to run a displayport signal through them. Hope this helps.
Gorgeous board, thanks for the overview! Unfortunate that the board shares so much bandwitdth on multiple ports. I suppose that is an attribute of b550 which therefore I do not understand why they don’t just stick to x570. I don’t need thunderbolt 4 yet, would have preferred a 10gbe ethernet port, but this board is otherwise beautiful down to the colors of the usb 3.2 ports on the back that I love. The other board that is beautiful and effecient for creators to me is the Gigabyte b550 Vision DP. I’m confused about the Displayport In port… Do you have to run the graphics card through there or it’s only if you want to use a thunderbolt monitor? Otherwise I can just use the displayport from the graphics card straight to my monitor?

All the Ryzen's I'm looking at are rated at 3200Mhz DDR4 RAM, yet I see many people suggesting using Higher Mhz DDR4. I'm hoping/presuming that those people intend to overclock. Could you recommend DDR4 3200 MHz RAM for this motherboard given that I don't want to overclock but want the best bang for the buck? Thanks.
Apple monitors doesn’t work on this motherboard, very misleading compatibility issues conning from Asus, the thunderbolt is still limited to some devices only.

I bought this so I could plug in my egpu into this thunderbolt and have both my internal gpu 3090 and another external gpu thunderbolt 3 running. My wife doen't want to have the egpu 3090 on her notebook and hoped I might be able to use it to at least crypto mine with it while connected to my machine. But windows say error 12... it wont work due to not enough allocated resources to run it. I only have my m.2 card and an internal 3090 gpu... how can I fix this. Or is my only option is to sell the egpu? I'm not a content creator and can't think of any other use then for my thunderbolt 4 for me.

What happens if you connect a GPU to this mobo via PCI and want to use the TB4 port to drive the video output? Does it work or is video only going to work from the GPU?
There's a display input on the back of the motherboard IO that routed into the thunderbolt ports. So if the monitor doesn't have Dp but has thunderbolt you're good. Just installed this one this month

DDR4 motherboards are still best. DDR 5 4 RAMs claim only a speed of 3600 MHz.
Why not go for 3600 MHz. Just a little inj. won't make any difference.
