The ghosts in 3D land are because of the fact that theyre in 4-4 and 8-4 because 4 is a unlucky number in japan and the luigis in mario 3D world is because it came out in the year of Luigi or the 30 year anniversary

I'd say the Mario Maker door myth is _technically_ busted, only because it's not a _creepy_ Mario but rather a selection of variations of the weird skinny Mario that results from the skinny super mushrooms that sometimes spawn in place of super mushrooms.
Also, the "Owl kills you" myth should be considered circumstantial, since it's dependent on where you are in the level.
While we're at it, being able to jump on those bones isn't creepy.
The glitchy Mario in the Mario 64 thing was an old horror thing I watched and I shall type this comment every time I see it.

That owl one is technically incorrect. It CAN kill Mario if you hold on for too long. But you have control over the owl so you can prevent this from happening.

In Snow Man's Land there existed a unit called "Mini Chill Bully" and you had to defeat 3 in a quest called "Chilling with the Bullies" mirroring the Lava Land variant. The Platform was next to the boss, Mario now longer slides on the Ice when hit and for some reasons the Mini Chill Bullies are no longer present. 30 Star Bowser took 2 hits with his AI getting harder after the first one.
This video really makes you look at Mario in a whole new creepy light! 😱 I mean, the idea of a cursed cartridge is totally wild. It’s like that hidden dark side of gaming no one talks about! Plus, the ghosts being linked to unlucky numbers is a cool detail. Makes you wonder what else is out there in these classic games, huh? 🎮👻

Fun fact: did you know, (if I'm correct) there should be a Luigi on most stages of Mario 3d world (the one shown in this video with the graveyard) and if you time your saves just right you can get the Marios in the doors (in Mario maker) to be on your save thing when you get off the stage (it's a cool little addition to your stages)
That ghost in the window actually follows you throughout the game, not just those two levels, as SwankyBox found.
That Mario in the door is also a reference to a glitch turned feature. There was a bug with placing mushrooms when making levels where very rarely instead of the usual effect (at least visually) it would make Mario’s sprite all weird and stretched in a ridiculous, goofy looking way, the sprite seen in the door. This was found during testing and amused the testers and devs enough they kept it as a very low chance event (with a way to unlock it as a direct option when making levels) and called it the “weird mushroom” for… obvious reasons. 😂
