Drumdums Thanks a lot man! I love this shirt had to have it. Glad you enjoyed the intro I've been waiting to do it since I started this series. That was the part that was hardest to get myself to record again. Dragging my amp into the living room, getting the timing to match the song without headphones...pain in the ass! Lol Totally worth it though. Yes sir this movie is the shit and always will be one of my favorites of all time. Dream Master is right around the corner...wait til you see that intro! hahaha

One of the things I like about this movie is how represents teen angst.
Kristen is a product of a broken home
Kincaid is mad @ the world
Will would rather play fantasy games then face the real world.
Joey can't express how he feels
Jennifer would rather be someone else than herself
Taryn takes drugs to dull the pain

Dream Warriors, Dream Master and the original are my go-to Nightmare films whenever I am in the mood for a horror movie or a Freddy movie. They were also the ones I watched the most as a kid. Dream Warriors has the best group of teens out of any of the films. I love how well they balanced scary Freddy and comedian Freddy. It was also really cool to have Heather Langenkamp come back as Nancy!!! I just love this movie!!! ❤

  • @Xehanort10
    @Xehanort10 7 лет назад +8

13:16 That bit was always creepy to me because 3 is the first film where you find out that Freddy's victims don't just die. He absorbs their souls to become more powerful and their souls are trapped and tormented. The souls of Tina, Rod and Glen were probably in there. Jesse and Lisa too since I'm convinced Freddy killed them at the end of 2 when he rips out of Lisa's friend Kerry's body. The reason I think Freddy was killing again in 3 was because even though his plan to enter the real world with his nightmare powers intact by possessing Jesse failed he'd gained enough power from the fear and death he'd caused at Lisa's pool party to go back into the dream world and kill again. And either his attempts to kill the last Elm Street kids either backfired causing their parents to think they were trying to kill themselves and committing them to Westin Hills or he intentionally made his attempted murders look like attempted suicides just so he could sadistically draw out their suffering and trap them all in one place at Westin Hills so he can kill them all at once.

You know this review reminded me of a nightmare I had in the past once where I was attacked by Freddy. What I found most interesting though is what happened to me in the dream which actually ties in with the lore shown in Dream Warriors. In the nightmare, I somehow gained the skills and knowledge of a master swordsman. and a wooden sword I kept hidden next to my bed actually transformed into a real katana. What followed was a swordfight between me and Freddy which ended with me successfully defeating him; I didn't kill him though, since he uncharacteristically ran away following his defeat. Looking back on it now, I guess the dream ability I got kind of makes sense since I've always had a fascination in Japanese weaponry and warfare due to growing up watching Samurai Jack.
I'm just bringing this up mostly because I'm wondering if anyone else had a similar dream/nightmare.

Just rewatched this last night. Great movie. One aspect of the movie that people usually forget to mention, but you touched on was the house. The continued narrative of the House was great. Nancy’s house, then Jessie’s house, now Kristen having nightmares about the house. The line where the little girl says “Freddy’s home” is just a bad ass line. The opening of the movie is the best of the franchise. I wish the trend continued with the rest of the franchise.

No way. The second half goes to dogshit with that X-Men superhero nonsense. Part 2 is the better sequel in every way. Part 3's acting performances were piss poor for a feature film, the film's musical score was the worst and cheapest of the entire series, diabolically bad. Composer should have been fired for that amateur work. The dialogue is terrible and although the premise was superb, they couldn't have executed it any worse than they did. Total botched job. Freddy - to the cheap rubber makeup, corny cheap gags, and jumpscares, is just not scary. Part 3 is not a horror movie. It's a horror-comedy. A horror movie is supposed to scare or at least unsettle, which part 2 did in abundance. Freddy is scary in part 2 (and arguably more intimidating than he was in the original). After part 2 he's not scary, he's just a joke. And what's with the stop motion shitty effects 'Jason and the Argonauts' style when we see his skeletal form? What's with killing John Saxon, and I don't just mean at the end, I meant the killing of his entire character, reducing him to a security guard drunk? What's up with Neil, the K-Mart Bill Maher - the most mundane, boring and pointless character of the series? And the only interesting kid, the drug addict, Taryn, the writer's kill off. Plus, this 'dream powers' bullshit, is just that. Bullshit. It's so stupid and cheesy. Last but not least, the direction is shoddy, camera work is amateur hour and the editing is terrible. From a film making point of view, it's a terrible movie and cheaply shot. Sorry guys, A Nightmare on Elm Street part 3: Dream Warriors is just not as great as everyone has been hoodwinked into believing it is and parrot it is. The worst thing about Dream Warriors, if I had to choose apart from the fact the title, along with Dokken doing the main song to promote it, sounds like something to feature on the poster of a Conan the Barbarian movie - the worst would be the film's score/music. That is the cheapest, most unprofessional piece of junk Casio keyboard trash ever to be recorded in a theatrical motion picture. Angelo Badalamenti, the movie's "Composer" aka HACK should have been fired and put on trial for that abomination of an effort. Horrendously lazy and sounds like it could belong to any forgettable b-movie for its equally forgettable sounds. No distinct Nightmare theme or similarity to the original or part 2's amazing classical score by veteran Hollywood composer, Christopher Young, Badalamenti's BADalamenti shit-track does indeed sound like someone had recorded their first practice demo piece for a pilot homemade video they'd submitted to film school in hopes of a scholarship that was never good enough to get the scholarship in the first place.

Part 3 is by far one of the best. You have such real characters starting with Kristen (who's from a broken home and seen as a suicide risk although it was really Freddy). Kinkaid, who was angry and trying to find an outlet. Joey who can't express what he feels. And Taryn, who used drugs to cope. You also have the return of Heather Langenkamp as Nancy. I get chills when I see the scene where Kristen is afraid to take something to relax (because of Freddy) and Nancy finishes the freddy ryme and calms her down. It's the meeting of the new heroin with the original who survived Freddy's attack. You have the feel of the original (parents don't believe until it's too late), with the introduction of old new characters. I'm not talking just the side characters but new ones like the doctor and even Laurence Fishburn as one of the R.A's at the psych ward. Introducing Amanda Krueger too and his back story.
The only negative thing I have about this is how Nancy dies. To me it was too easy. I thought her just assuming he was dead... that left her open to get killed so easy wasn't to me a great end to her legacy.
My favorite scene was when Freddy and Nancy finally meet when she (Nancy) was trying to save her. Just him looking at her and saying "youuuuuuu" gives me chills. It's Freddy knowing, that was the one he couldn't kill. That got away and defeated him.
NOES easily is up there as one of my favorites in the series

The second half of Dream Warriors goes to dogshit with that X-Men superhero nonsense.

Excellent review! I think Dream Warriors is a great sequel. I like the way it melds old characters (Nancy & her father) with the new group of teenagers, who are a likeable bunch. I like the way it adds to the franchise - in the original, Nancy had to overcome her fear to beat Freddy; here, Kristen has the ability to pull people into her dream, and the teenagers have dream powers. They can team up and help one another against Freddy in the dream world. I think Patricia Arquette did a great job as Kristen. When she's flipping out, screaming and slashing nurses when she's admitted to the hospital, you really believe she's scared out of her mind. I give credit to Wes Craven for the original idea of Dream Warriors but I think Darabont & Russell's rewrite is a much superior script. There are some great kills in this film - Phillip (puppet death) and Jennifer (TV death). I also like the way Freddy uses the kids' skills or weaknesses against them. In addition to Phillip and Jennifer, there is Freddy using drugs against former drug addict Taryn. I, too, thought Will's Wizard Master was a bit corny, so I loved the way Freddy kills him: "sorry kid, I don't believe in fairy tales!" - no time for that nonsense! I love Dokken's Into The Fire. There are one or two flaws in this film. It pains me to say it, but I thought Heather Langenkamp's acting was very hit and miss. Check out the three lines she says when first meeting Phillip and Kincaid - ""why's that?", "thanks" and "nice work" ... on the plus side, she delivered the line "let go of him, you bastard!" very well. All in all, it's a good film that adds to the original and is the best sequel in the franchise, I'd give it 7.5/10.

Yeah, agree. I remember hearing Robert Englund say that, for many fans, this film is the best in the franchise. Although I don't necessarily agree, I can understand why. I was being a bit stingy giving it 7.5 - let's call it 8/10 ...

The movie is awesome, and your review was awesome Cody! Too bad Wes was too busy directing, "Deadly Friend" to direct Elm Street 3. That too was a good movie, but things happen for a reason. I'm glad they went with the fantasy of the series, instead of the dark, and crude story that was originally conceived. The nurse scene left a lasting impression on me as a child too. Lol.

While this wasn’t the best film in the franchise (that honor will always belong to the original), it was by far the best sequel.
And although this film was the beginning of freddy’s descent into comedic buffoonery, Dream Warriors still found a perfect balance between horror and humor that gave Freddy a sense of humor while still being a frightening menace rather than the cheap standup comedian he became in part 4 and beyond.
