- And now we start our downward slope into the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. Full of huge, wild, and off-the-wall ideas, A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master became the definitive MTV-generation slasher movie and the highest grossing movie of the franchise. Unfortunately it also set a precedent that snowballed into the downfall of our favorite horror icon.

This is actually my favorite in the franchise, maybe because I watched it so much as a kid. Aside from that, you have to admit the soundtrack is freaking amazing.
my second fave!
It's my favorite too. The ending is the best in the entire franchise.
This is EASILY in my top 3 Movies, as it concerns this Franchise. The reviewer here is entitled to his own opinion (As we all are!), but he's riding this movie way too hard. I know it kinda set the stage for one of the biggest disappointments in this series, but it is what it is.
I wish, though, that they would've just left Freddy Krueger dead, at the end of this movie. Look at how confusing things were, in The Dream Child. They had Freddy Krueger, re-born, but too weak to get any souls inside of himself...and, of course, Alice and Dan had had some nooky-time together, and Alice gets pregnant from that, so...
Freddy decides to get some kills in, and then, at some point, take the souls that he was storing in Jacob, and reclaim them for his own.....
Which, when you think about it, makes no sense at all! None! Freddy had already been re-born, and should have been able to store the souls within himself!
What a totally messed-up storyline! The Writers totally messed that movie up, Big-Time!
Then, there's Freddy's Dead:The Final Nightmare.
Nah...we won't even discuss that one.
It ain't worth it!
I never looked at it as Freddy being brought back by dog piss. I always looked at it that he wasn't fully defeated at the end of 3, only very weakened and he has been trying to get someone to dream him back to life with their fear, give him enough power to come back. Joey and Kincaid were warning Kristen to stop being afraid or she would bring him back, BUT it turns out to be Kincaid's fear who does it. The dog pissing is just Freddy's way of manifesting himself in Kincaid's dream. I hope this makes that scene easier to handle ;)
+dokboy77 lol I always interpreted the same but visually he's revived by dog piss so it's hilarious lol
It is hilarious, especially in "Never Sleep Again" when Rachel Tallalay does the Reny Harlin impression "A dog pisses fire" haha
The way I interpret it is that Freddy was strong enough to possess Kincaid's dog due to Kristen's fear of him (because the dog is aggressive towards Kincaid and then runs away when Freddy comes back because he's no longer possessed) and that when the dog pissed on the grave, it desecrated it and made the grave unholy so Freddy was able to resurrect himself. It's definitely one of the weirder moments in Dream Master.
It's a combination most likely a possession and Grave desecration. Because with dogs mean in regards to the gates of the underworld. And Freddy possessing the dog too reactivate his contract with the dream demons by desecrating his own grave through the dog.
Yes it was desecrated by the dog but in 3 Amanda told Neil that he needed to be buried on hallowed ground. They buried him in a junkyard not hallowed ground. Just because a DOCTOR used holy water, a crucifix and a prayer doesn't make it hallowed.... He wasn't buried right, only slumbered and Kristen brought him back by dreaming of the house and pulling joey and Kincaid in therefore putting Freddy back in the forefront of their mind. As for the dog, it was Kincaid's best friend. His friend turning on him could possible be his worst fear. Maybe...
The Tuesday Knight track at the beginning is quite memorable!
+TheUnderdog1026 Yeah it's decent. It never hit me like Dream Warriors did.
The best opening in my opinion
@@CodyLeachYT Well, to be fair, that's a really, really high bar to measure a song by.
@@kforcer exactly.
I just watched the movie and it's a good one.
This movie gave new meaning to the phrase "it was the dog, I swear"
Kevin Riley lol no shit
"My dog pissed on the script!"
I think 'The Dream Master' was a masterpiece!
Dreams are weird, and this movie had some of the most original death scenes!
I loved everything about this movie.
I agreeee!!!!!!
I agreeee!!!!!!
AGREED !!!! "ANOES 4: The Dream Master" was my favorite sequel alongside "Dream Warriors" because of Alice as well as the amazing practical effects used for the Freddy death sequence in the end of the film among many other things ! The movie poster for "part 4" also has... in my opinion... the BEST artwork compared with the other ones in the series !
Kinked's death was weak, but the junk yard scene was very scary, especially the pan up into him being trapped and surrounded by cars gave me nightmares as a kid. Car claustrophobia, I guess. I met him at a convention and he was super nice and I went up to his table and was just like "Freddy's Back, Freddy's Back, Freddy's Back" and he did the rant and I told him about my nightmares of that scene, so awesome. I met Renny Harlin earlier this year at a screening of his movie The Bricklayer and he was so nice and I complimented him on this film and he was really cool. Met the case of this movie at a horror convention in Orlando, all so nice, especially Dan Hassel and Brooke Theiss.
That....intro...was gold bro. Only Nightmare would revive Freddy with dog piss! I've always liked Dream Master because of how inventive it is with the dream sequences. And I love the soundtrack (who knew Tuesday Knight could sing!). Great review as always bro.
Drumdums haha thanks man. I knew you would love the intro even if noone else did. Yeah it's probably the most imaginative of the series that's for sure. If Freddy wasn't so corny I would eat this installment up. The soundtrack was pretty cool it was definitely smack dab in the MTV era. For that style alone the movie is cool to revisit.
I hate this movie
"Freddy is pissed"...get it? thats what is supposed to mean, i think.
So what you're saying is... the... movie....
SUCKED YOU IN!
😈🤣🤣🤣
@@CodyLeachYTDid Freddy win a moon man?
😈🤣
These openings are priceless
+Tony I Thank you. Glad you enjoy them
I'm guessing if Patricia Arquette had comeback Renny wouldn't had killed her character off and made her the sole surviving protagonist of Dream Master instead of Alice.
Wtf is renny
@@111highgh why is 18 hours long of my comment is a big deal?
@@dredre_lj2003 Renny Harlin is the director of the movie.
@@darkmarv8045 oh
I doubt it, Iheard another rumor say Patricia didn't want to come back because she was going to be easily killed off in part 4. If thats true, then they probably already had her demise on the menu from the start.
This movie has slowly over the years become one of my favourite nightmare films! You gotta love the effects created in this film
Kincaid's death was awesome because you care. The zoom out was always so menacing.
This is legit the most negative I've heard anyone speak of this movie
True.
part 4 was where they got the mix of horror and comedy perfect in my opinion. i recognize that the story and character's aren't as strong, but freddy has alot of screen time in this one. part 4 is my favorite because i like how much freddy is in it. the invisible fight scene is garbage though.
TheBombShhh part 3 had the best mix of horror and comedy with Freddy but to each his own.
I sort of agree with u. The mix of scary and funny freddy is ok in this movie. Hes more funny in this movie, but he still has his scary moments. Not a bad ratio, but not the best in my opinion. It's definitely better then 5 and especially 6 though, I'll give it that.
I gotta disagree. There was way too much comedy in this and we saw way too much of Freddy. He puts sunglasses on at the beach, for fucks sake lol
This movie isn’t bad if you just accept it for what it is. It’s entertaining (I swear I typed that before he said it in his review). But as a Nightmare sequel, it’s middle of the road.
The invisible fight scene is so bad it’s just hilarious.
TheBombShhh this ain’t a good mix at all
This was my favorite when I was a kid
I disagree about how Freddy Krueger was actually ressurrected. Kristin brought Freddy back by thinking about him and remembering his legacy. The fire piss from the dog was nothing but a crazy dream sequence. At least thats how I take it. Patricia Arquette would have reprised her role but she became pregnant.
I understand it was a dream but the visual aesthetic of being ressurected by flaming piss is ridiculous
Cody Leach I agree with you. It's ridiculous and misleading.
No, the filmmakers proudly used the dog piss to resurrect Freddy. No subtext, nothing.
I've watched Nightmare on Elm Street 4 277 times and it keeps gets funnier ever single time I watch on DVD
I think you have a problem bro
NOT TO MENTION THE FACT YA TALKING TO A DEAD GUY NOOW WHADDYA THINK think am qualified
@@TS-wy9ir what we mean is can you be scary?
Beetlejuice référence @@thebeeshow6496
Nightmare 4 was the first movie where Robert Englund got top billing.
Thank you about the bit regarding Tuesday as Kristen! I could not agree more!
I love Dream Master. Definitely one of my favorites in the franchise.
Alice's transformation with that rock interlude was always my fav
This and Dream Warriors are the sequels I watched most. I know their are tons of faults and I miss Patricia as Kristin terribly but I liked Rick and the music in this is awesome. I just like this movie despite its faults, no where near as excellent as Dream Warriors or New Nightmare but it’s still good.
The only things I hold against NEW NIGHTMARE not enough Freddy screentime or creative kills or enough kills in fact only 2. 3 counting the two guys at the opening
Kris Daugherty 4 kills not 3
I like this movie.
I like it too I just have huge problems with it
I love when you do your beginnings this way !!!! it cracks me up the dog the cars!!! hahaha love it!!!
I thought The Dream Master was a very mixed bag of a movie. I though Sheila's death (suck face) was the best death of a poor bunch. Rick's death was ridiculous. I gotta say, I don't like jokey Freddy. It worked well in Dream Warriors because part 3 trod a fine line between Freddy being scary and coming out with one-liners here and there. But it didn't work well in The Dream Master. I have two fav scenes: first, the practical effects of Freddy's skeleton reassembling and growing muscles and skin, and second, the practical effects of the children's souls escaping Freddy ... 5/10 for this film.
The only thing thing I like about Tuesday Knight is she made the intro song for Elm Street 4 they really needed to bring Patricia Arquette back pay her more money. She made that character. They killed the last of the Elm Street kids too fast. I hated Rick dream fight they could of dream up something better than that. Lisa Wilcox I loved her in this I love how she became a shy girl to kicking Freddy's ass. But other than that I that it was good entry into the series. Until the Dream Child...
L.A. MALDONADO I agree! and yeah...until Dream Child lol
LUIS her singing was ass
I love that song so much I BOUGHT IT OFF iTUNES. (I have spotify don't worry)
You can thank the asshole that knocked up Patricia Arquette. Otherwise she would have reprised her role as Kristin.
@TheLegendkiller2100 yes?
How's this for a wet dream is my favorite Freddy one liner
😂😂😂
The soul pizza scene was a low-key Freddy classic.
Nice to see editing go to good use. Amazing intro as always.
After rewatching dream warriors let night, that was the first movie that really went in a different direction. After 1 and 2, Freddy was more comedic and less scary in 3. Still a great movie. Just was not scary at all. 4 reminds me of Chucky 3. I say that meaning, it’s just Freddy being unleashed the same way Chucky was. They just went for it. 4 always has this great tone. It just captures the 80s so well.
Great intro! Love watching these older reviews. I’ve probably seen them but I like hearing people talk about the things I like. Lol. Your like my internet buddy, in that not really sort of way. Dad Jokes Unite!!
This is actually one of my favorites. I always thought of this movie as a dark comedy instead of horror but a great movie in my opinion. The visuals are fucking awesome.
Brian Outlaw The visuals are pretty cool for sure. I have a small grudge against it for starting the 100% comedic Freddy
I know right?! I love the effects they used. I don't know if they're practical or stop motion or something else but whatever it is still holds up amazingly well 30 years later. This is my favourite sequel aside from New Nightmare. Alice is badass!
@@jessica23claire everything besides some small New Nightmare stuff, a bit of FvJ CGI and totally CGI Nightmare 2010 (the look is practical) everything from 1-6 was FULLY practical, i think Dream Warriors is the best one looking
I mean the effect in the elevator of buttons showing up. Like it was made 15 years later. I was afraid of some of the scenes - not while watching as seven year old - but they stuck with me.
4 is the scariest one for me ... every nightmare scenario hits home to the worst fears personally .. its really scary ...
Even though the movie wasn't that great, I give the guy credit because he sadly didn't have much of course being homeless and I give him much prayer for trying.
I love these openings you do. Hmm...You must do a lot of research before turning on the camera. Great review as always Cody!
Metal Horror Pack Thanks man. It depends sometimes I research some and most times its just useless knowledge that I gained along the way. haha
I like to think Patricia Arquette rejected this turd of a movie when she saw the script.
The only film in the whole series I don't enjoy is Freddy's Dead. All the others I can find things I enjoy about them, even if they aren't all objectively "good movies".
My order from Best to Worst: 3, 4, 1, 2, 5, 6.
(I don't personally include New nightmare because it isn't really a part of the main series it is its own thing that uses imagery from the series, but if I did it would be pretty high on the list.)
+zetaboy33 Wow you put Dream Master above the original?
The original is fantastic and I could watch it anytime, but my ranking is based on my overall enjoyment and Dream Warriors and Dream Master are just more fun for me.
zetaboy33 pretty much agree! I would put 6 definetly last, after that 5, ANOES 2010 (man, only Jackie as Freddy was good for that movie), 2, 1, WC, 3,4
My ranking is 3-1-8-7-5-4-6-9-2
I am and was TNOES fan since i was 6. I’m 40 now. Watched first 5 on VHS constantly. Although watching your review series was sort of like my mind would play-out, I think you were a bit to hard on the dream master :) I agree with 95% of what you said, especially Tuesday Knight. BUT, you failed to say this: sound / music (not the 80s scores through the movie) is the best one in the series. I love what they did expanding classic theme during nightmare scenes. Also, resurrection scene - it was not the piss :) yeah it’s funny but also reverse melting practical effects of him getting the meat back to his bones - it’s awesome and holds up to this day. And - Freddy might be funny but one liners are really good and while he is funny, the overall atmosphere is really spooky and nightmare-like, almost a little bit leaning into David Lynch teritory. And back to Tuesday - i know you love hard rock, I grew up on it, but loving pop 80s stuff too, I can say “running from this nightmare” is epic. Also, character of Alice is really good. She has transformation and is good looking heroine. Apart from that, yup, I agree :)
your intro is always comic gold
See, this one was always my favorite. They used either the strengths or weaknesses against them. Kincaid's strength and ego caused his guard to come down. With the girl in the classroom, she had asthma so sucking the air straight out of her until she deflated me horrified me as a child, plus I thought the mechanical arm was always a throw back to the fact that she always made things like that. The bug...strength and weakness. Her ego and her fear. Everyone thought they were kinda strong and they all got taken down because of over confidence. Except Joey...he just saw boobs and died, lol. This one and Dream Warriors have always been my two favorites. More kills. More story. I wouldn't touch claw sinks for years after Dream Warriors lol.
😂😂😂 “ Freddy Kruger gets resurrected by a dogs piss”
Hey man I'm new to your channel and I've been binge watching you're reviews. I think you have a nice style and you speak clearly. You obviously have passion for the movies you talk about. But there's one thing in this review that really hit me and led to me commenting. When you said it was too metaphorical for Freddy. That irked me. He's a killer that kills and dreams and what is more metaphorical than dreams. And while I agree this movies lacking but still enjoyable. I personally believe that the kills in this movie are some of the best in the franchise. Cuz they all work on the characters fears or personality traits the one girls afraid of bugs so in the dream her fear is becoming a bug. The one girl has asthma so clearly if asthma plays a big part in your life you're going to fear running out of air. The only one that sucks is the karate one. What Freddie should have done was have him fight his father because his father seem to Lord over his life so fighting his father in his dream and then losing would have worked better. I'm done with my renting take it easy man continue the good work
+Vin Grier Thanks man. You have a point. I think my metaphor comment was mostly directed at the way she kills Freddy and that's it. The evil seeing itself was a bit too far for me.
I like a mixture of scary creepy Freddy & the funny Freddy, the funny moments are sometime entertaining (my fav funny Freddy line is in Freddy vs Jason) but creepy is the better version for me. I always thought that junk yard scene was cool too & the scene where the souls come out of Freddy that you talked about. This one is fun & entertaining, for sure not as bad as the next 2 which are horrid. Thank goodness we got new nightmare & Freddy vs Jason to bring it back to awesomeness. Lol
Ashley Grady Exactly! if Freddys Dead was the last Nightmare itd be a crime against humanity. lol
So true!
@Cody Leach is your dog still alive? I do like this one despite its flaws, mostly for the part of the movie when Alice goes badass with the powers and abilities of her friends but it also has great effects and kills by Steve Johnson and Screaming Mad George.
That kissing death scene was filmed at my high school lol I forgot which room though lol
Web-Linez oh that’s cool does your school have like something there saying it was in a film ?
@@thegraylink8269 nah the only thing they acknowledge is that Greese was filmed there lol
Web-Linez screw grease I’d rather know about Freddy lol
I’m 35 and I found this movie when I was about 8. I became completely obsessed but it also terrified me! I couldn’t get enough of it! This will always be my favorite out the entire franchise
It's my favorite in the franchise too
Rick's death was the absolute worst and painfully boring. I get what you mean about the nod to old kung-fu movies, but we also have to remember that Alice receives the dream powers of her friends after they die. Kristin's was gymnastics and Rick's was karate, so while the martial arts stuff was weird, it did make sense in the context of Alice's evolving character. Great analysis. This movie was my favorite of the franchise to watch just for the sheer spectacle of it, but Part 3 will always be, as you said, the perfect mix of everything right in this series.
One thing that I think gets overlooked here is the way Freddy takes out Kincaid and Joey.
With Kincaid, he puts him on what is essentially a junkyard planet with nonstop blaring horns and flashing lights, making it a very confusing and disorienting maze like area where Kincaid has no idea where Freddy is or where he could come out at, he has access to MILLIONS of different places he could be hiding, waiting to jump out.
In regards to Joey, Freddy remembers that Joey's Dream Warrior ability was his sonic scream ability so by distracting him with a beautiful girl and then quickly yanking him underwater, Joey has no chance to use his dream power, he is struggling just to try and catch his breath, let alone have a chance to scream.
I’ve also noticed people were confused on why the windows broke after Ricks death but it’s simple when you look at it after Kristen died Alice somehow absorbed Kincaid and Joey’s powers and Alice screamed after Rick’s death so she was accidentally using Joeys power and broke all the windows in the classroom
And I think Alice saying “Fucking A” was her having Kincaids sassiness
You could change out the music in that powering up montage to "You're The Best Around" and it would fite the tone of the scene. Its post-Karate Kid for sure.
I actually love this film, Cody. Our opinions are quite different, and I can respect that. The characters, music, nightmare scenes, visuals, and effects are amazing in my opinion. There are like 2 moments that I don't fully understand, but it's like that with every Nightmare film. 9/10 for me.
my favorite scene is when i believe it is still kristin or some other kid i can't remember but first she is in the boiler room yet she closes her eyes and she is on a beach, it's calm a little girl is building a sand castle the little girl's name is alice, she comments hey that is my best friends name. she relaxes and enjoys the sun. suddenly a clawed hand comes out of the water and just cuts through the ground pulling her back to the boiler room. i loved it for it caught me off guard, i seriously thought she got away just to have freddy pull her back and i wish they did more scenes like that.
FYI Brooke Thesis who portrayed Debbie was in the ABC just of the ten of us a growing pains spinoff which also had an nightmare on elm street star Heather langenkamp
This intro is just getting good. Cody I totally agree with everything you say.
Question? Do you think the supporting characters got minced to give main girl stuff?
I always really liked this film and I think it was a good follow up to part 3. Freddy had become a pop culture icon at this point so it seems fitting that they make him the main attraction to the point that we love his quips. While he was definitely going down the comedy route, he still had an intimidating and maniacal edge to him, which was completely gone with the films after that.
In part 5 and 6 he was dumbed down to such an extent that he almost could've appeared on Sesame Street
I've still got "Running From This Nightmare" on my iPod. lol Some of the kills in this one were really weak but I think Sheila and Debbie's deaths make up for them. Giving a character asthma and having her dream about having the life sucked out of her until she's a shriveled up husk while in reality suffering a fatal asthma attack... brilliant. And that cockroach transformation? Very impressive effect fabrication for 1988. It really looked like a human being turning into a bug!
Hey Cody are you going to be coming out with merchandise?!?
+J.Ebbing715 Looking into it. Keep an eye out for a video announcing it.
Cody Leach awesome!!🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I actually still enjoy this one. I didn't like the resurrection, but I thought Freddy still had that sinister, sadistic side in this. Also the character growth of Alice snd her final battle was cool. Some of the stuff like the coffin and Alice's brother in general were bad.
The intros you make are always on fucking point haha seriously
+Brandon Back haha thanks man. Always one of my favorite parts to come up with
I saw the never sleep again documentary Tuesday knight looked horrible in that interview
David Cottone Oh god...her and the blonde from Freddys Dead are scarier than Freddy on his best day
Lezlie Deane? I haven't seen what she looked like in about 20 years; I thought she looked good back in the day but jeez...now I'm scared!
David Cottone omg what happened to her lol plastic surgery? Botox?? She was puffy like a water balloon
Cody Leach the blonde from Freddy's Dead was in makeup with a girl resting her head in her lap, um. . . . Wtf🤔 what was with the grease clown paint on her face in the "Never Sleep Again" documentary?
Tuesday got real fat
The trend from 3 to 6, is horror comedy with progressively less horror and more comedy. By Freddy's Dead, it minimum horror, maximum comedy (maximum silliness actually).
They're all different forms of psychological but it's more campy in the depiction.
Kung Fu older brother used to keep his mind off his true problems but doesn't truly believe in the true nature of the philosophy of the martial artist. Essentially not truly being able to actualize is to opponent.
The geek girl afraid of intimacy and that she might die of an asthma attack.
It would be jock / biker girl is afraid of being seen week and girly. Along with the fear of bugs.
Alice's overall ability as dream master is a fact that she spend so much time daydreaming / in the dream world that she was living there instead of in the real world. That combined with Kristin's ability to pull people into the dreams created an ability to take on the specs of for her friends fantasy/ideal selves as a sense that she didn't have a true dream of her own so she took on the dreams of her friends.
Love ur channel bro. Also u sound like Kenny powers
Sorry, teacher. My dog ate my homework, then he pissed Freddy back to life.
"If the food doesn't kill you... The service will.. hmmm" I love that scene myself!! 😂
I'm not exaggerating, but that meatball scene put me off meatballs for years as a young child. My siblings used to shout "don't let him do it"
the karate kill was gobbage, the classroom drain and cockroach kill were very entertaining kills.
This is the best soundtrack! 3 had Dokken and 6 had Goo Goo Dolls, but this movie had Tuesday Knight's songs (her best contribution to this movie), Dramarama- Anything Anything, even the score is fantastic!
Damn Cody, There is so many things I agree with you on, even if my opinion is different than yours on a topic, you have a way of making me come around to how you see it. But with this movie I can't disagree with you more. This is the absolute best one in the franchise hands down in my opinion. From the opening scene, to the movie score, to the soundtracks, to the dream sequences... It was just dope!! I clicked on this thinking you was gonna praise this movie, I was highly surprised with the outcome 😂
I always thought the dog pissing was about desecrating the hallowed ground they consecrated in 3. Always made sense to me.
Patricia Arquette reprising her role as Kristen would have made The Dream Master feel much more complete to me. I totally agree with your reviews for part 5 and Freddy's Dead, Cody. They were terrible and almost unwatchable in certain scenes. I actually consider part 4 the book end to the series. The soul release was perfect and all of the Elm Street kids had been dealt with.
I agree. I kind of wish 2 didn't exist. I think 1,3 and 4 are the series.
My favorite out of the entire franchise. I live the art direction of it and that they made Freddy the star
Let’s talk about that badass soundtrack though. Tuesday Knight actually has a great track on there, “Nightmare”, as well as rad cuts from Drama-Rama, Blondie, Divinyls, Love/Hate and more. I’ll also add that this movie solidified my lifelong love for Punk Rock and doing Martial Arts in the garage.
Roach Motel is definitely in my top 3 kills from the franchise ever since I was a kid, I had no idea people didn’t like it!
Omg you have the low tone synth in the background lol
I love the dog flame piss resurrection. The low tone synth lol
Also it recreates what I think part one did. U thought Tina (Kristen) would be the heroin or last girl and it ended up being the opening scene random friend.
I've always wondered what Nightmare on Elm Street could've been like if the Dream Warriors had become the 'Tommy Jarvis' of the Elm Street series, so to speak. The idea of the series continuing on with all of the Elm Street children having been killed off just didn't seem right to me. Plus, they were great characters and Kincaid was extremely popular--I guess he got a ton of fan mail, which he was totally unaware of until later. They even reference his popularity in a "Making Of" video on Nightmare on Elm Street 4. Just wish they'd stuck around.
I loved the Dream master because even my dad liked this one...Dream Masters was a great ensemble to take on Freddy..Alice had the awesome showdown! Before Buffy the Vampire Slayer..Alice was my favorite kick ass girl!
Idk what it is but I love the theater seen. It's my favorite in the franchise.
I love the opening theme song sang by Tuesday Knight. Running from this Nightmare always made it more teen angst.
I loved this one too.i thought it was great. I loved the Tuesday Knight song in the beginning. I loved how they brought back the three survivors of the previous one they are out of the hospital and in high school. I loved the Lisa Wilcox character as Alice. I thought she was pretty good. I thought it was awesome and cool. Now I lay me down to sleep I pray the dream master my soul to keep in the reflection of my minds eye evil will see itself and it shall die. I loved the character of Rick Alice's brother I thought he was great. I loved his fight scene with Freddy.
Shit....you got a husky too? Fuck....now i gotta subscribe
Do a review on the Hellraiser series
What's your doggo's name? This is my second favourite Freddy film! What about Rick? He's awesome in fact my favourite character of this franchise!
55bueller His name is Jax. Rick is ok the karate thing is just silly to me.
Cody Leach Jax Teller? Haha
I like Rick because I'm a Kung Fu man myself!
55bueller That is correct! Lol He even has a SOA collar
The only one I got to see in the theater when it came out. My dad did rent part 3 for me as soon as it was out, though. I remember him walking in during the topless scene in Pt 3 and he was cool with it. Thanks dad.
And Lisa Wilcox is really good as Alice. I buy everything she says. I've always liked her underrated acting. Like Heather Langenkamp. We have such radically different views but I can see what u mean too
I know this movie kickstarted the “100% comedian Freddy” but I think in this particular movie the character was still good. He’s definitely a lot more comedic starting here but he still has that same mean edge as in Dream Warriors, in my opinion. I think it was still a pretty good balance. 5 and 6 are where it gets really screwed up.
Favorite Nightmare film! Incredible intro, Alice is awesome and I like the aesthetic
Even though some of the effects in these movies are pretty bad, when they do practical effects right, they are pretty amazing. Freddy's death scene was awesome it even left my sister in disgust. Even though Freddy's resurrection was weird the look of him being reformed was so cool.
Yes I agree I loved 3-4. I like 4 but I think three was a perfect balance
I disagree with you about the cast. I loved them especially Debbie. She was like the Taryn of this film. Yeah that would've been nice to see Patricia Arquette in this one but what can you do lol!
great review, thanks.
For me when it comes to Freddy I am ok with funny freddy scary freddy or both.I think for me it comes down to writing. If the film is well made I think a funny an or dark freddy can either one work.
I can agree with that. For me the 100% funny Freddy has never been written well.
I felt this movie did a descent job with it.Here I felt he was funny but still intimidating in 5 he gets to goofy at times an it hurts the film for me.Cause 5 has a very dark dramatic gothic tone. But at the same time Freddy has constant jokes the most hes ever had up to this point. Its upset the balance of the film I also felt his jokes in 5 werent well written .I still think 5 is an ok film for me I like the gothic tone an the cool effects like the comic book death but the film felt very watered down like there was not enough new story elements or there ideas werent pushed far enough.I hate Freddys dead. Not because its funny but I just hate the script. They went with a Freddy that wasnt just funny he was a cartoon.I really like New Nightmare
I saw a behind the scenes of this on the 8th disc of the first 7 film boxset that robo arm is practical
the 80's 👊👍
This is my third favorite Nightmare film after the original and the dream warriors. Karate dojo scene is stupid and a dog pissing fire yes but besides that its so cool and fun. Cochroach kill and "wanna suck a face" kill are one of mine favorite kills on entire saga. Series takes a nose dive after this one.
One dynamic i realized after all these years was when Freddy kills Kristen she successfully gives Alice powers but Freddy ALSO receives Kristen' s power which Alice didnt know how to control yet which Freddy took full advantage of
If this film had Patricia arquette back it would've been so much better. I still love it, but Tuesday knight was definitely the biggest flaw of the film IMO
Lol the dog peeing fire to resurrect Freddy 1-3-4 are my faves
Patricia arquette was considered to be pregnant so I heard that's why she wasn't in elm street 4
David Cottone Possibly. All the cast in the Never Sleep Again documentary make it seem like politics.
Freddy has always been my favorite because of his personality. So I do like the comedic freddy.
