Hi James, hope you get some sleep. I noticed when you were editing that the shirt you’re wearing in this video is the same one Chelsea was wearing when you guys hit 1 million subscribers. Ah yes, Jason’s VERY well known aqua phobia, that’s why he has never even gone near water, and never even gone in it, and even if he did, he never would go under. Such a famous weakness
I really hated that plot point. It was completely against Jason's previous characterizations.
If it was a new version of Freddy and Jason, than the water weakness would have made sense. Only add that with Freddy fearing fire. But since they're the same characters from the original movies, that just backfired.
He went under water in the final chapter

Dream Warriors really had a whole lot of great scenes. Truly a great movie before the series started going kinda downhill. And the fact that Nancy was back is a BIG plus! But the first 3 are definitely the best, the order is interchangeable but I agree with this one for the most part, but the whole top 3 I would agree with for sure
I agree
My fav part was when nancey said her iconic line "so that's it? What we some kinda...dream warriors?". Chills man.
Not sure why, I always loved how they amped up Freddy in each film. It was like we discovered more of his abilities through different generations of teens. When I was a kid, I always looked forward to seeing how his abilities changed a bit here and there…. Until we were introduced to the dream demons.. 😅😂
I agree the first three are the best. I love number two.
I really Love this trilogy! The first four are definitely the best. I'm going to watch number 2 tonight
Still hoping for recounts of this franchise someday. I’d love to see him go in depth behind the scenes for these movies, especially after seeing him do the same for F13 and Child’s Play/Chucky.
And for scream
a big franchise like nightmare is guaranteed views but without a new movie or tv show count for the end of it, i doubt we'll get a recount anytime soon because it takes such a big chunk out of the schedule. i hope we get it but i'd place my bets on next year at the least. f13 is kind of a special case since it was the first series he ever did
“Fred Krueger is like sleep malware” is actually such an accurate comparison even as a throwaway joke. I love James’s humor, he seems so smart and genuinely kind
@Miguel Messina in my opinion, yeah. He essentially functions as a worm sometimes and a trojan horse at others. He can freely spread himself across the lives and dreams of people and will sometimes present as benevolent or harmless to lure someone deeper into the nightmare he’s woven for them. Some parts of the metaphor don’t work, obviously, because he wasn’t written specifically to exist as a human version of malicious programming, but I think that the way he functions, travels, manipulates, and destroys people is accurate on a base enough level that I like the comparison.

@@greatestnitemare6626 Easily. There are no redeeming qualities in that one.
Never understood why everyone was creaming over a new nightmare. I thought it was mid.
It had great concepts that were either poorly executed, or done horribly (or atleast went nowhere).
I love how supportive he is of Taryn's "beautiful and bad" line.
An interesting aspect of Freddy Krueger as a character is that he manages to have a distinct personality, unlike Jason and Michael who are just psycho zombies, but still scary, unlike Chucky and Leprechaun.
Yeah, I wouldn't hesitate in saying he's my favourite horror movie villain, at least from the big franchises.
To play devils advocate, Freddy's distinct personality is a positive & negative with every sequel he became more comedic & cheesy by the end he became a full blown joke full of one liners this is my main issue with the character I don't find him scary he just makes me laugh & for me that's the worst thing you can do in a horror movie, I understand Michael & Jason are zombie like lacking emotion but that's what's scary about them. I recognise Freddy's impact on the genre & I actually enjoy some of his films Freddy v Jason & the remake being my faves this is just my opinion I respect yours aswell. 😈👍
@Miguel Messina I know, what I meant was that he acts like a zombie: doesn't talk, doesn't gesticulate and always moves slowly.
Just to clarify, I do like Michael and I the first Halloween is my favourite slasher film. But Freddy has much more personality, a thing that makes for a more enjoyable experience even in the bad Nightmare sequels, compared to to Halloween Resurrection or Curse where Michael shows to not be a compelling character outside of that first great film.
@@ValentinoTarhan I can see that, but as James said, Freddy's creativity makes for more diverse killings that give each sequel a uniqueness to it (part one has Glenn's eating bed, Dream Warriors has needles Freddy, Dream Master has the bug killing scene) compared to Michael's knife stabbings that after the part 2 becomes boring and predictable.
@Miguel Messina That's fine, I still like the first Halloween over A Nightmare on Elm Street 1 and Friday the 13th
The only other contender for interesting horror villain in big franchises is Pinhead, but Freddy is easily more known so I get why people choose him.
Imagine telling young dead meat James that the main character in the original Nightmare on Elm Street was going to officiate your wedding in the future. Life is crazy lmfao

Now that he's married, James is still super happy and on break! Which is good for him
I think 1 through 6 are all fun movies so you'll get your money's worth,so in quality I think the nightmare franchise is more consistent than Friday the 13th or Halloween
I appreciate how the remake is at the bottom of this list, making it a true ranking between the movies with the remake as an honorable mention
IMHO Freddy looked the most menacing and stylistically scary in Freddy's Revenge. The creepy contact lenses made him even more otherworldly. His burnt face makeup is the most real and gross-out looking from all the films (where in most of the Freddy movies it looks a lot of times too slick and pizza'y) Also Robert Englund's serious acting and expressive body language and gestures with the hat are the most cinematically strong and horrific.
@Nightmare1398 Yes totally, also the music in Freddy's Revenge is super intense and for me the best out of the series. Those slashing violins and that menacing tone, really dark and disturbing and pulsating with raw energy. Especially during the scene where his best friend is killed.
Plus the blades coming out of his hand instead of a glove is just straight up gross and disturbing
Always thought the menacingly evil brown eyes and thick brow should've been the signature of Freddy. Imagine how scarier the other movies would've been with that Freddy look?
I completely agree and was at his most brutal
What is IMHO?
DREAM WARRIORS is so amazing on its own. Also, Lisa Wilcox is a national treasure.

Lisa is still fine, even at 57.
A nightmare on elm Street 3 is actually my favourite even better than the original Wes Craven classic

I read the most incredible Fan-Theorie:
Freddy is kind of a jokster from the beginning, but gets more and more goofy and creatively playful, right?
Well, he feeds on the souls of TEENAGERS (which is implied even in part one)!
I always liked that character-arc (yes, it is one) and I think it makes sense that those souls would influence him.
Notice the huge...development....from part II to III. He kills the most teens in II- in part III he really gets it started with puns and playfulness.
Yeah that’s fucking stupid
I'm the only one who likes the remake. It's definitely got that creep factor in which 7 of the other movies don't have.
I like the remake a lot aswell. The only bad scene is the cgi wall Freddy. Cut that out of the film and its a solid horror film and is faithful to the original nightmare on elm street. People just dont appreciate it because it was mostly just the first film again (which is fair enough) and because its not Robert England (which is also understandable but the new Freddy was very good imo).
@@jxsh03 Exactly
It's definitely better than most of the sequels, James was definitely a little biased since he did say in his review of the remake that he hated it. Also Mr. Krabs (Clancy Brown) helping kill the human Freddy in the flashback is amazing and no one can convince me otherwise
Only *hate* (of the remake) being a confirmed repulsive kiddy fiddler and the way sexually harassing Nancy - unbearable to watch 😒😡

"It's travellin time!" was a reference to the Fantastic Four's, The Thing's catchphrase- "It's clobberin time!"
A friend of mine worked on Robert Englund's indie film "Inkubus" in 2010 and my son and I visited the set. Aside from the cool body bits lying around and occasional severed head on set, I was able to talk to Robert about the then recent remake. He was surprisingly candid and said he wasn't a fan because he couldn't believe in the actors playing the teens. He felt they just didn't LOOK like scared teens - they looked like drugged up adults. He didn't say much more, but that was pretty telling. And I'm sure it doesn't need saying, but I will say it - Robert is an amazing guy and spent a while discussing his love for independent horror films and named quite a few. Class act. He needs to don the glove one more time.
Wow, such brutal honesty from Robert. Although funny at the same time as one of those “teens” Jesse Braun aka Thomas Dekker ended up working with him on Fear Clinic

God, I agree with the remake. When they were toying with the idea that Freddy was innocent that really got my attention but then they had to have a twist on that twist.
When the movie was being made that plot point leaked, and allegedly he was originally going to actually BE innocent. There was a furor over that and I'm not sure if it changed the original planned ending any (like what happened when Terminator Salvation's ending leaked) or that was the plan all along. Regardless it is the worst of the series bar none.

@@DodoRibeiro-ts6po Probably because the Halloween remake did was more original.
@Miguel Messina Rob Zombie one better?
Yeah. The more I look at it. The remake is.... Ok. It services what its out to do. Modernize the classic.
I got a little misty eyed hearing about Heather Langenkamp becoming ordained for your wedding next year! Your lives are the coolest!

Please do a Halloween ranking! Also I'd love to see you do a ranking between Michael, Freddy and Jason! Release it on the 31st!
Not until franchise completed with this year's _Halloween Kills_ and next year's _Halloween Ends_
I personally liked Dr. Gordon's character in Dream Warriors, he felt like one of, if not the only, adult in the series, outside of Nancy of course, who really seemed to care about the kids' well-beings and wanting to help them instead of being dismissive of Freddy's existence.
Congrats on the wedding and getting Heather Langenkamp to officiate it. That must be a dream come true.....as long as Freddy doesn't show up and turn it into a nightmare.
Agreed! He genuinely listened and wanted to help. His business with Amanda Krueger wasn't boring to me either, it helped establish some interesting lore about Freddy in his backstory. Plus, his relationship with Nancy helped add layers to the connections the characters in the movie had.
I love how fun dream warriors is. It’s honestly a blast.
What was your favorite kill in it?
@@beybladelover2759 well all of them were my favorites especially the one where Freddy issues one of the kids tendons to control him like a puppet and force him to jump off the roof it was cool and very disturbing especially when he was smiling.
@@elijahbaker781 the puppet kill was the most bone chilling which is the reason why I liked it too.

As someone who’s never seen any of the “big 3” movies, I love watching these so that way, so I know if it’s worth watching them 🤣😅

NANCY THOMPSON IS OFFICIATING YOUR WEDDING?!?!?! HELL YEAH!! That's so awesome for you two! I'm super giddy for it, please please please release a wedding video! Heather sounds like an absolute treat to be around.
I think they said they won't release one because this is a private thing for them
i loved the nightmare on elm street series on the kill count
Same
Same
yeah it was good
It was really good
Me too. I actually laughed in some of them but it's common in this channel!
I totally shed a tear of joy when I found out you were getting THE NANCY THOMSON to do your wedding! That’s so amazing!
I don’t know why but I like that the “big three of horror” all have four syllables in their names. It just makes me laugh for no reason but also adds a weird sense of dread when I hear some names.
I like seeing other videos than Kill Counts sometimes. It shows James’ diversity in his content. It’s also one of the things that I think makes him one of my favorite RUclipsrs of all-time.
Yeah, like the podcasts, these ranking videos, his annual supercuts, and now Zoran's new show "They Talk"
Also there's so many rankings and other things he can continue to do. I hope we get more What's Your Favorite Scary Movie? I freaking love that series.
Freddy Krueger: in James dream
James: not scared
Freddy: thanks killing 3
James: screams louder than Reggie

He’s got the hat, he’s got the sweater, his face looks like burnt cheddar. Missed opportunity IMO
I've only ever seen Dream Warriors one time, this was when I was very little. I never gave it another thought because a child's focus is fleeting, but watching these clips again... All the scenes I remember from Elm St. movies are mostly from Dream Warriors, and I had such a good time watching those and holding on to the memory of them. I thought those kills were from seperate movies, but no. That's crazy. Definitely went down memory lane with this list, especially the number one spot. Thank you.
Wow, this must have taken a long time to make. Hope to see more rankings like these in the future.

Ok having Heather officiate the wedding is the DOPEST THING EVER!!!
I love Heather Langenkamp so much!! She seems like such a nice person and I wish she had more roles and more known outside Nightmare
her together with Freddy... the vibe is perfect.
@@JordetheArtistone of my favorite lines in new nightmare was Robert and Heathers conversation after the interview
Robert: they want to see us together again
Heather: like what a romantic comedy?
Robert: well just because it’s a love story doesn’t mean there can’t be a decapitation or two
After that I always wondered what a romantic horror comedy about Freddy and Nancy would be like. Besides Alice, Maggie/Katherine and Kristen, Nancy is the og final girl of the nightmare series and probably Freddy’s favorite despite her being dead
James, buddy, Renny Harlin is Finnish. Not French.
My bad!! Sorry about that.

Getting officiated by Heather Langenkamp after becoming friends with her, thats just freaking awesome :). Great ranking, and I agree. The movies with Nancy are the best. I love that John Saxon is in all of them :).
