If you're an 18-55yo man interested in using fasting to cut hunger in half and lose up to 7lbs of fat a month, I made this for you: bit.ly/FastToLast It's happening THIS WEEKEND! I'm wondering if some supplements can break the fast? I have magnesium glycinate in capsules. Not sure if some filling stuff or the capsule itself contain some sugar? For potassium I use potassium table salt, which is 66% KCl and 33% NaCl.
@@cancelled_user the bio availability of those neutriun, as in the ease of access and utilization for your body, is far better when they're in their whole foods form. I think the biggest benefit of fasting is that it changes your relationship with food. You understand you don't need to eat as much or as often and you'll be just fine.

Just completed a 15 water fast. 32lbs loss, it was definitely something. Taught me I didn’t actually like food, I’m just addicted to sugar, oil and salt. New paradigm shift for sure. Also made me realize how much little food I actually needed before being full, which makes me very conscious of what I’m putting in my body. I don’t have to always clean my plate, leave it for another meal to be.
@@ohsnapitsdiana Since I was used to OMAD the first 24hrs were easy. 48-36hrs later I was very irritable. I have high blood pressure and ADHD working against my mood, so I just left work and stayed home lol. It didn’t fix my ADHD but I was able to catch myself when my mind started to drift, almost felt like I could see where it started and were it ended. Still, as I kept losing weight my blood pressure got better. Overall changed my whole mindset about all sorts of things but more importantly my it means for my health.
Day 9 - 22lbs down /9Kgs. I never knew all I had to do to loose weight was stop eating. I’ve got no more pain in my knees, no longer snore and always wake up at 3:30am 😮

It amazes me how clueless society is. I found myself in rabbit holes of Industry lies after reading "The 23 Former Doctor Truths". There is so much we are not getting told!

Just finished my 7 days fast and planning to extend it. One thing helped more is drinking warm water. Fasting make your body goes to rest and can get cold easily. Drinking warm water give an illusion to my body that I’m still producing heat. Every type of body is different so do what the best when you’re fasting :D
That's awesome! Previously, I've attempted 48 hr fasts a few times previously, and would often notice lowered motivation, lack of blood circulation in hands and other extremities, and generally feeling weak. These days, I tend to consume less carbs in general (20-40 net gm) w/ working out 3 days /wk and regularly intermittent fast. I feel like this made the mental & psychological affects less severe than previous attempts on longer fasts. Currently on day 4/7 of water fast. I notice I actually need less sleep (5.5-6hrs) and that mid day cardio helps me to get to sleep at a reasonable hr. Today, I woke up feeling empowered and energized, with barely any issues w/ hunger. Sending well wishes on your fasting journey 🙌🏾🎉
I'm on day 6. I struggled terribly on day 4 as well. Went and bought some 1000mg potassium supplements and immediately took 5. I slept like a baby, and on day 5 took 2 in the morning and 3 on the evening. Again slept really well and now on day 6 I feel great. Muscle issues were gone, brain fog gone amd energy levels back up. And I feel really tranquil.
You body needs sea salt while doing a 7 day fast or you will get sick. You can also drink green/black tea, some coffee, or use a teaspoon of lemon in your water each day. Your body also needs to be use to producing Ketones from fat. If your already in Ketosis before you start the 7 day fast your body and mind isn't craving for glucose. I have also found that it is best to start a 7 day fast on a Monday. Remember this 7 day fast first 10 to 12 lbs is just water weight. The main reason for a fast over 4 days is to recycle old cells. If you are doing this to lose weight you will need to remain in a Ketosis state. If not you will gain back all of the weight in 2 weeks. A Ketosis state or Keto diet is meant to allow your body to burn excess body fat. If you don't stop eating sugar, glucose, carbs, excess fats; this is just a stunt. Just remember you lost the taste for sugar and carbs during this fast. A Keto diet does the same thing. don't fall for buying Keto snacks, desserts. Just stick to eating vegetables.
Could you make a video about noise affecting health? Ambient noise in cities are often seen as just minor inconveniences, however there is research it actually has a big impact on health, for example stress levels. Not only does it affect the body, it also affects our behaviour, in an environment with higher noise levels people are more likely to end conversations prematurely, be less patient, less generous, to name a few. The book "Curbing Traffic" has a chapter about the health impacts of noise pollution, but you are an expert on going through research and distilling them into awesome videos, big thank you for your work!
For sure noise pollution is way worse for us than everyone makes it to be. We existed without it for millions of years. It doesn't really make sense that we have any mechanism to cope with it.
Just finished a 61 hour fast and realized I probably didn't take enough electrolytes during the fast. Had just one packet of element, but probably should have had one every 24 hours. I'll be shooting for a 5 day fast this fall. No one has mentioned that one benefit of fasting is not having to buy food. Anyone can beat the ridiculous inflation at the grocery store by regular fasting.
For the video creator: How pathetic that you shaved your face and put it as a thumbnail to show a difference in your face. I laughed at your thumbnail and clicked to write this comment while pausing the video. Now I’m gonna click away after I thumbs you down :)
Started the keto diet three years ago and lost 50 pounds in 60 days and then over the next three years of cheating and indulging on sugary snacks gained 25 pounds back. I constantly do intermittent fasting and once in a while 24, 48 and 72 hours; this time I did 14 days with nothing but water, green tea and electrolyte supplements. At the end of 14 days I had lost 26 pounds, still engaged in exercise and a daily 10 hour work schedule. FASTING WORKS!!!!!

@notyourmom You're in the same camp as me then. The lethargy isn't exactly conductive to productivity, but not having an appetite most of the time does have its perks. The moment I do get an appetite is usually only after not having eaten for 12-16 hours. At which point I usually aren't lethargic, which makes it the sweet spot for working out. (Then again, at this point it might just be hunger, and my body mobilizing energy to go get food.)
This exactly, I'm on day 4 of a fast that I'd like to take to 2 weeks and the hunger has passed but I miss eating, not because I'm hungry but because I enjoy eating.
usually within the first day you feel your skin healing at a really fast rate. Interestingly enough on day 4ish I get a HUGE burst of energy, I feel like I can do way more pushups than I usually do. The euphoria you get on day 7 when waking up is INSANE
that’s an interesting claim. I feel like I was the only one who felt that too! I had a weird skin bump on my head that hadn’t gone away for months and day 3 into my fast it had completely disappeared as well as the dark circles under my eyes. I feel like it’s great for skin.
Love this I been doing 24 hours fasting then I'm still doing 48 hours fasting 2 hours EATTING then back at 48 hours of fasting again I feel amazing 2 inches off my belly in 1 week ! I'm going to keep doing this next 14 days
I recently went through an involuntary fast(because I was going through something mentally) and I will say the 2-3 days that I didn't eat really did seem like it reset my appetite, hunger, and cravings as you said. It actually blew my mind how much it helped me. I actually feel like I have control now of what I eat, when I eat and how much of what I eat.
Same, I involuntarily had a fast for 5 days. I ate nothing and drank only some water. I used to be a binge eater, now I can discern the emotional eating from true hunger. And I'm in complete control of how much I'm going to eat. Before I didn't know what "I'm full" meant, now I can feel that and stop. It's amazing.
I was strictly intermittent fasting (22 - 24 hours daily) for around 7 months initially, but then loosened the rules and now do anywhere from 14 to 22 hours fasting which is easier in the winter (Dry Fasting). I always think that being too harsh on yourself can create an elastic band effect....although you could call it self control....
I have done 7 days of water diet (includes 1 coffee and coconut water) a year ago and break the fast with a pumpkin soup 🍲. It was the best experience I ever had. From that day onwards my eating window is 1 hour in 24 hours, no carbs or sugar but a tonne of vegetables and fish, meat or eggs. I lost weight, my allergy to pollen is gone, my nose is cleared and never had breathing issues after. Fasting can make wonders to your body, mind and soul.
One in 24 hours! That's tough. I am sure doable for a week or two, but continuing? For me, the biggest pressure during fasting is social. You want to join people for meals. Also, to get the best from intense workouts, it's best to have food soon after, protein especially.
@@EvgeshkaVideo I do have social gathering with friends and family. If we are eating out then I will stick with steak or baked fish and drink only water. I swim 3 miles every week but stay away from protein powder as it is highly processed and spikes up the insulin. I stick with natural protein. It is tough for the first month but your body will get used to it.
@@sofiamarie9136 Vegetables are carbs, I try to stick with less than 5% carbs (more than 25 of them to choose) so I can get the maximum amount of nutrients that our body needed and avoid underground high startchy veggies.
The dips in energy and motivation is not only related to electrolytes but also to lack of usual (hyper)stimuli or dopamine release. Because for majority of the people, food is a big source of dopamine release, especially junk food, which is now cut off. Many can even try to not fast at all but eat say 3 meals a day without any modern foods and they'd also feel sluggish, anxious and unmotivated despite getting more than enough electrolytes and calories.
I was anorexic for 15 years. After day 4 the hunger pretty much subsides and food becomes more of an obsession. I have been recovered from anorexia for about 6.5 years now. I refuse to skip meals.
Fellow recovered anorexic seeking a comment similar to my opinion. Totally agree! I started to get addicted to feeling hungry and empty during my fasts and then would inevitably binge. I don’t see how fasting like this can keep weight off. Anorexics have proven it isn’t sustainable. But to each their own I guess. Glad you’re recovered now! 🤗
Fasting is NOT recommend for anyone that has a history of eating disorders. It's like giving medication to someone for whom it is contra-indicated. Doesn't mean the medicine doesn't work, just that for a few people it can be dangerous due to their unique medical history.
@@Itsjess505 Anorexics are probably not taking in salt and other minerals or having nourishing, low carbohydrate foods in between fasts, no? Like an anorexic wouldn't eat just a fatty steak and vegetables with butter, they would eat something with lower calorie and nutrient density or binge with junk food?
I fasted 50 straight days from mid Feb until April 9th, then refed for a month. All my blood markers were perfect after refeeding. I am currently burning off the last 25lbs to lose through rolling 6 day fasts (eat only on Sundays). I am already 2+ weeks into these rolling fasts. I supplement salts, magnesium, and a multivitamin, but it honestly hasn't been that hard. I was 258lbs in Feb and am currently 205 after yesterday refeed. I should hit 180 by end of August. Fasting is the best way for me to lose body fat rapidly, and is not the hardest thing you could do, and well worth the results.
wow, 50 days straight that's pretty incredible! I hope as you approach your ideal weight you work on building lean muscle mass to help boost your metabolism and burn more calories at rest. I bet your resting heart rate is pretty low. Ever since I lost a ton of weight doing OMAD and sporadic 3 day fasts, my RHR is generally well under 60 BPM and my BMR seems much lower, which sucks because I'll gain weight on 2,000 calories unless I burn a lot through exercise. My body got WAY more calorie efficient thanks to 2 years of calorie restriction and IF. When I slack on exercise, I lose muscle mass, and consequently, fat comes racing back to replace it.
From my experience when you are fasting you are detoxifying, your cells are repairing, your immune system is resetting, etc. etc. So actually during this fasting time I usually feel like crap. BUT, once I finish the fast this is when I feel the full benefits of all the healing that went on during the fast, not while I fast. 👍🏼
I have found that is a lot more healthy to just fast for 4 or 5 day periods. I mostly do 3 or 4 day fast. I also do 2 on 2 off for weeks on end or , 3, 4,, 5 or 7 day fasting when my body stops losing weight while I'm on a Keto Diet. I also switch around my daily eating cycle to throw my body a curve. After around 40 to 50 lbs of weight lose requires your body to reset or go back on a maintaining weight diet for a couple of weeks. I use fasting to aid me once I reach a plateau. I've done 4 seven day fast; I think I will stick to doing 4 to 5 day fast to replace the seven day ones. I have never gotten sick while doing a fast. Remember to only drink or eat a small amount of bone broth, light soup or fruit for the first day or plan on running to the toilet. I only normally eat 1 meal a day. I took me a while to get use to drinking tea and coffee without real sugar. When I'm on a strict Keto diet, I don't use substitute sugars.
100%. All kinds of detox all the time. But no doubt fasting is detox in earnest. Like running a car through a car wash vs paying for a premium detail crew. True story, no bull. I've put hundreds of hours into podcasts, books, studies on fasting, it's an off the wall hobby. Peace out @@coolermoss
I'm just gonna put this into the ether: if you are a female with a cycle, you probably need to fast differently than males. As much fasting as you want in the first part of your cycle, but little or no fasting once you ovulate through to your period. Dr. Mindy Pelz was one of the first people I found to talk about how females need to eat/fast differently than males, it was a big help.
Dr. Mindy Pelz Is the expert on women’s cycles and fasting. She actually has a book called “fast like a girl”. This woman is amazing and I highly recommend searching for her on RUclips! I have lost 22 pounds thanks to her advice
Big shoutout to this channel. Since the 2nd video you posted. I got into fasting ever since and I have no regrets on the amount of money I’ve saved and how much healthier I feel. Thanks buddy
Abraham, based on this Video I'd say you were insulin resistant at the start of the fast. That's probably in part why you had mood struggles, because your body couldn't access your body fat as easily
Before you do a 7 day fast you should be already use to doing one meal a day Keto diet. If you body is use to burning fat, a 7 seven day fast is not as hard to do. Only eat a max of 50 net carbs for the 2 weeks prior to your seven day fast. ( no sugar, carbs like bread, snacks, grains or other) Count net carbs per day. When you do your 7 day fast: drink items such as green/black tea, small amount of coffee per day, real apple vinegar cider - up to a 1/4 cup per day, couple tablespoons of lemon juice in your water, and make sure to eat a little bit of sea salt every couple of days. (No added sugar). I don't take my Vitamins during my 7 day fast. I walk or ride a exercise bike each day. You will lose up to 15 lbs depending whether or not your already in Ketosis or not. Your fat cells will shrink after a couple of days if there is sugar glucose still in your body. If you go back to eating sugar and carbs once your fast is done, you will gain back up 10 lb just in glucose in your cells. Your body holds an extra 10 to 15 lbs in excess water. If your in Ketosis before the fast and your maintain Ketosis after the fast you will not gain weight back. I do 2 to 3 day fast regularly to drop weight and I do a couple of 7 day fast each year. No need to do 7 day fast, It more healthy to just do 2 day fasting, 2 days of meals fasting schedule to drop weight or doing 4 to 5 day max days of fasting. Remember to break the fast by only eating bone broth or a light soup or pieces of fruit. If you eat a huge meal after fasting plan on running to the toilet.
I'm 56 years old. I started a 16/8 fasting first week of February. I'd have my first meal at lunch, which is chicken and a bag of frozen vegetables either seasoned or sauteed, then something small for dinner. While I've lost a few pounds, what I've really noticed is the reduction in the inflammation in my joints. I also have more energy and a better mood. The body doesn't need all that food in three big meals a day to have to digest. I had planned on doing prior my doctor's visit, but she suggested it as well. I'm definitely going to stick with it!
@BaoLin i do 16/8 almost everyday because it is easier for me to eat in a small window. (Not right now though since i currently have covid) If you want to fast for weight loss then in my experience the longer the better. I like to pull 3 day fasts where i only take some salt and drink water in the peak of summer because the temperatures and constant water drinking strongly suppress hunger. You should only fast as long as you really feel well enough to do it. Edit. To be more precise my daily non-eating window is more like 20 hours and then 4 hours where i eat. I usually eat at or after 4pm and stop before 8 pm
I think starting slow is key. People are very impatient these days. But you will grow extreme levels of indurance when you start slow. 1. Deal with the emotional dependence on food. 2. Maintain for a prolonged period of time. 4 year plus 3. Cut out breakfast for 6 months 2 meals a day 4. Switch to one meal a day This was my journey and I feel great, stable and healthy.
I’ve experimented with several water fasts ranging up to 18 days. Typically lose 1 kg per day but the first 3 days is typically only water weight. I use electrolytes daily to offset the headaches and tiredness which you experience when the body is transitioning from glucose to ketones as it’s principal source of energy. An aspect of fasting that I particularly enjoy is the deep sleeps I have. I wake up feeling incredibly refreshed. My resting heart rates slows down to as low as 45 bpm from a typical 53 bpm and I need to be careful when getting up due to lower blood pressure. Have had a couple of fainting episodes when getting up too quickly.

@@antiquenotdead7 - you may also want to try a low carb/keto/carnivore diet to reduce inflammation, if you aren’t already. Once you get into ketosis, or fat burning, fasting is much easier, because you can use body fat for fuel, instead of just feeling as though you’re starving. Plus, particularly a carnivore diet can lead to recomposition of your whole body (less fat, more muscle) without exercise. In fact, a lot of doctors now say that exercise has very little to do with weight loss. Check out Dr. Ken Berry on RUclips. He and his wife Neisha are low carb and discuss a lot of topics. That’s the only time you allow your body to heal and fix many things in our body that hasn’t been tended to for a very long time due to being full everyday since day one. Regular Fasting is crucial(especially sugar/carbohydrates fasting), start now
This video is everything. So many videos of people just rambling about their experiences fasting with no real tracked results. Thanks for putting so much detail into the actual scientific benefits
You're definitely right about fasting getting easier the more you do it. The first time I did a fast, I was exhausted and literally couldn't do anything but sleep and sit around for probably a solid week. Plus I was cold and had to constantly wear a sweater, socks, and long pants. I have been lucky to not have symptoms like headaches and body aches. But I've done it a few more times since then and have even done a 19 day fast with minimal problems. It does take me a bit longer than 3 days for my hunger to go away though. Everyone is different, but fasts definitely get easier the more you do it. Fasts are a great way to lose weight fast, save money on food, and reset your body. Fasting also helps to avoid a lot of excess skin if you plan on losing a bunch of weight.
Sometimes, fasting can develop into anorexia, which can make your brain volume smaller than that of a depressed person’s brain. I hate when people want to call it “fasting” even if you go 30 days without eating. In my opinion, going more than two weeks without eating is not healthy. You also need food for the body.
I think most people should cycle 3 day fasts 3+ times before you try a 7d. I believe it helps your body figure out the electrolyte issue. I don't use electrolytes unless I'm sweating a lot. I think if your body isn't used to fasting completely and going into ketosis, it dumps your electrolytes as normal, preserving none.
I just finished fasted my first fast for 24 hours. My negative thoughts completely disappeared. I normally have trouble reaching out to my friends because I worry about them secretly disliking me. But that fear was gone, and I actually reached out to people for the first time in weeks. I felt extremely focused, and I was able to pay attention in lecture instead of falling asleep. I felt my depression leave. I was able to actually get important tasks done instead of procrastinating. Now that my fast is broken, I’m expecting all the negative thoughts and depression and procrastination come back. But this is definitely something I would do every week.
Interesting. I noticed something similar after 36 hours into my fast. I felt my head was elevated as in less lower vibrational thoughts. My mind noticed the synchronicities better and going with the flow. Thank you for sharing.

Try fasting from Sunrise to sunset. No food and no drink. Eat food and drink before sunrise and eat and drink after sunset. Thats what the Prophet Muhammad Peace Be Upon Him did. It is the biologically natural way to fast to get the ultimate benefits.
@@daphne201239 Yes it is the Prophet Muhammads way of fasting. There were many times in a year that was religiously obligated to fast, for example fasting awhole month called Ramadan. Basically that was fasting from sunrise to sunset and being able to eat and drink from sunset to sunrise. (doesnt mean you should). But apart from those obligatory days, the Prophet fasted the rest of the year when he willed. Again they were sunrise to sunset though.
Literally 2 days after this video came out I started my own 7 day water fast drinking nothing but water and salt. I started on Monday and today is Friday. I previously did a 5 day water fast a few months ago but this time round I think I can totally beat that record
Every single cellular function in the body requires sodium/potassium… you’ll do much better with adding salt. Potassium is found usually in the diabetic or health food section at stores… in North America brands like “No Salt” are common.

1st day: stay busy and away from food! 2nd day: chill day - low key, best a day off of work. It’s the lowest energy point. 3rd day - most people feel great and don’t want food at this point. Brain usually clears
Excellent information. I am two days into a five day fast. I have a few fasts under my belt and learned how important it is to start almost into ketosis. Makes all the difference.
I have started a 3 day fast today, but the first day is easy as I only eat once a day anyway, at around 6pm, so I normally fast for 24 hours. Day one done, setting into day two. I guess it's harder when your used to eating 3 or more times a day.
Fasting definitely gets easier with practice. I try to do multiple fasts a year. The first one years ago felt hellish, but during my last fast (July 12-14, just a short 3-day one to reset some things) I never felt tempted to break it once.
I don’t feel it’s universal, the first time I was really determined and spent the time reflecting on my relationship with food. The second time I just went through the motions and it led to me craving more and resulted in a food scarcity mindset that lead to overeating when the fast was complete
I did a 12 day fast once. I am doing another one now. The first 3 days are the hardest. The key is to stay busy and keep moving. Do not sit all day. On my first fast we were on holiday in the mountains, doing 15-20 km hikes avery day and I felt great, not tired at all. After day 4 or 5 I did not feel any hunger at all, and felt great, full of energy. Of course I missed food, but more in the sense of sensory taste deprivation than hunger. Once again, the key is to move!

i did 45 days on day 15 or something it turned into a mild acid trip and it was pretty easy onwards, massive boost in intelligence and "unity" feeling visions of Lays chip and Coca-Cola (my fav combo during schooldays) like it was calling me
The feeling of hunger is super interesting on a fast. The only way I've been able to explain it is when I fast for like 4-5 days, I stop being hungry in my body, and start being hungry in my head. Its not the body telling itself to keep the blood sugar up, its the body telling itself to get nourishment or you will die. I start to think about food in a different way. That experience alone is worth fasting for at least once imo, not mentioning the health benefits.
I agree with the mind being more hungry than the body, in my case, I was constantly going back to planning my future meals or just staring at culinary videos, but I wasn't physically hungry. In retrospect, that was just my food addiction, and I was getting my fix another way.
And I've started to feel that effect after several weeks of fasting for a few days straight. It's weird, not being hungry, yet thinking about food for like an hour. In fact, I don't think that my mind is on food for nearly as much when my stomach is actually telling me to eat. I start planning my meals for when I get off my fast, something I was loathe to do in the past. I also get the urge to try some cooking, myself. But funnily enough, with a full month of doing this coming to a close, I find that I'm thinking of food less than I was for the second and third weeks. Noticeably, at least. I think I'm really acclimating to the process. We'll see how the coming months treat me.
A big thanks for this video on RUclips gave me new life at age 30 and rebirth of mental health towards everything. I fasted for 6 days and will go for 9 days after two months.
When I first started fasting a year and a half ago, I noticed the 2nd day was tough. Your body adjusting to burn the fat for fuel. After that, it's been a breeze. I have no issues fasting any length of time now days. Just have to train your body. I eat my one meal in the am, so I don't go to bed with food in my belly. Plus it's better for your insulin resistance.
Trust me, a very long fast is virtually impossible and quite dangerous if you don't consume salt. My longest water fast was 23 days. I tried to complete it on just water. After 10 days I felt ill and was considering ending the fast. Then I added a teaspoon of Himalayan Pink Salt to my first litre of carbonated water of the day....GAME CHANGER in a massive way!
This video is irresponsible Careful people! THIS IS NOT HOW YOU START A LONG FAST!!! THERES A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN KETOSIS AND KETOACIDOSIS AND THE BODY NEEDS TO RE LEARN HOW TO WORK ON KETONES BY DOING KETO DIET FIRST !!! People should not do this without a proper method 🚫
As someone who has Achalasia for 25 years which unfortunately causes involuntary fasting the one thing that I’ve seen is how powerful the mind is when it comes to eating. Thinking about food is something that most people do on a regular basis and it makes you hungry. I’ve had to learn to not think about food or eating. Once my body and mind adapts to running on empty it’s much easier. Definitely relate to the mood swings and lack of patience.
My husband has achalasia so often he’ll find food sticks and he’s almost choking when he starts eating; usually standing up and walking around eventually means the food move down. He has now started “prepping” for meals by having just a couple of spoons of something smooth like yoghurt or apple sauce. Then after about ten-fifteen minutes he tries to eat his main meal slowly and that has definitely improved the number of meals with which he has issues. He has had it for over 40 years. It’s sure a challenge to live with.
@@pennystonks2838 I’ve noticed that can help. Quite often I’ll have soup first and then eat solid food a little later. Has your husband had surgery? I just saw a new GI doctor last month so now I have to get more tests to figure out new treatment options.
Me and my wife have been doing a 24hr fast once a week and have had amazing results. I'm doing a test to see it's impact on my performance as an athlete and her as weight loss. So far only positive results about a month in
dropped 91 pounds in just a few months fasting 10 days at a time, refeeding with steak and salad, sipping salt water during fasting periods (NaCl & KCl)
I been fasting on and off for 4 years now. I am 47. They definitely new to it and did not prepare right but I don't blame them. U learn many things over the years. After lots of trial and errors, I learned that you should eat lots if dark green veggies because they have fiber and lots of pottasuim. This will prepare you when you fast. After 4 years, I can fast 5 days without any struggle or dips in the mood or being light headed. I even work out on my day 3, 4, and 5 with weights and jogging. That will sound crazy, but my ketone strip was dark red. I was running on fats. No worries.. The reason I lifted weights was because I wanted to see if your muscle grow. In theory your testosterone and growth hormoen will sky rocket.. my other tools is of course water, salt, black coffe, sometimes water with lemon and salt. Being busy is huge in being able to not think of food. It's not just your stomach you have to deal but also the habits and mind you have built in your life. So to think that I am not deprived I actually go to Starbucks and just order a carbonated can water or black coffe. This way I feel that I'm not doing anything drastic. So some self trickery might help. The benefit. Some have said I look young, no muscle or joint pain, u can see easy better, your face will slim and not round, of course fat loss,, more time for your self, etc. Who would have thought the fountain of youth is something u don't have to travel anywhere. It's in u already. All you do is learn to fast gradually.
Starting my 7 day fast today wish me luck Day 1 complete ✅ kept myself busy so that i won’t think about the food Day 2 completed ✅ had an amazing dayy loving it Day 3 completed ✅ tried so was on the bed all time Day 4 completed ✅almost quit it but gathered some motivation and did it was so tired that i was unable to walk
@@ebirch90 well I completed the 7 days and look slimmer But I switched to 3 days soft dry fast it was far better than the water fast and in 3 days i lost exact weight that i did in 7 days of water fast 5 kgs
I'm on day 7 of a 10 day fast. I was mostly doing OMAD prior to this so I was probably fat adapted becauseI have had zero hunger so far but feel a bit tired. Here are some stats using a Precision Xtra monitor (finger prick) for anyone who's interested. DAY 1: No tests. DAY 2: 52 glucose, .4 ketones, 7.2 GKI. Weight 176lbs DAY 3: No tests. DAY 4: 52 glucose, 2.4 ketones, GKI 1.2. DAY 5: 32 glucose WTF that's low! 2.7 ketones, 0.66 GKI. DAY 6: 171lbs. DAY 7: 87 glucose! THIS IS VERY HIGH what's going on? 3.7 ketones, 1.2 GKI. THEN I did another reading this day about 8 hours later and my results were: 74 glucose, 4.2 ketones, 0.98 GKI. Weight 169lbs.
You don't need to fast because of OMAD. I too follow OMAD and sometimes 2mad,... Those glucose readings are just what happens internally, I mean the blood transporting fat/minerals/healing action and other things... There's no such thing as normal glucose levels,.. if you ask me, I'd say 70 should be the max for any person..
I have found that if I felt hungry at day 3 to day 5 meant that I had parasites. So I bought internal cleansing tea. Day 6 I was pooing the parasites out and I felt so much better and that knawing feeling stopped. So my opinion is to get a cleansing tea to drink so that you can clean out completely and minimise the painful stomach/intestinal cramps. Happy fasting. Peace
I did a type of fast several years ago. I’m only 110 lbs so I did a 4 day Daniel fast. Have you ever done that one? It totally changed so much in my system. It really did reset my appetite and I had a loss of anxiety and more focus. Food can either harm or heal, I think that is the key. What we are ingesting is probably the cause of many psychological problems and bodily diseases. On the other hand certain foods can heal anything, even cancer.
I think it would be interesting to compare your Oura data with the week after when you were eating again. See if you retained or gained any benefits from the fasting week. Also with the week before fasting if you have that data. If you plan on doing this periodically, the longitudinal data on those 3 weeks could be very insightful.
I did a 6 day water fast 4 weeks ago. I also used In Body to check stats. I lost 7.1kg ( 2.6 kg fat & 4.5kg water) Went back to eating normally and did an In body 3 weeks later. Gained back 3.1 kg. (1.2kg muscle gain, 0.2kg fat loss and 2.1kg water gain)
Just finished 7 days fast recently too. It helps a LOT to do keto for a week prior starting the fast, also you can keto out of the fast too - and never feel all that hungry. First day some HIT training can reduce glycogen and get you into "deep fasting" next day. If you ever get stuck in restaurant with friends - some crystal salt can provide a nice snack, while everyone is eating.
Careful fasting like that, i've read some studies that have changed my mind on it, its short term benefits come more from the flush your body does and the fats converted to keytones for the cells. The longer it goes the more risk and damage arises, its less hormetic and more hacking away at any recent muscle gains. And it can effect recovery and sleep quality too. Intermittent fasting is how we were once naturally, but day by day fasting triggers a famine survival mechanism, those who fast for days are basically letting their body eat itself, its not just fat you lose, it has a greater cost to the body too. The clarity of mind comes from the keytones and its another survival mechanism that allows one to process and escape the dangerous environment of famine and death around them. So intermittent fasting on keto diet is much more healthy in the long term. You will have better outcomes keeping weight off by keeping portion data and loss/gain data with activity. Its very easy to increase the physical output if unwanted weight gain starts and theres no mood and energy swings. Even with Liquid IV and 5HTP and tryptophan it can be depressing when your ignoring real hunger and not just the Candida bacteria cravings.
For me a day or two low carb going into a 7 day fast is sufficient to cut the hunger pangs. Then again I stay away from high carbs and sugar to begin with.
@@woorosa Personally I find that as long as my ketones are ~2.0 of higher when starting the fast - it goes much smoother in general. Sometimes a few days of prep is enough, sometimes more.
I know for myself, the mood enhancement comes from having nothing in my stomach. If I am constantly consuming, my stomach hurts, but the pain gets mentally pushed to the background, and becomes anxiety. Makes sense when you consider the nerve connection between stomach and brain.
Was doing IF and keto for a year as well as walking and hiking several times every week and lost nearly 27kg of my weight and dropped by 2 sizes in clothes. Then things changed cause I was going through a hard time in my life and started messing up with my nutrition and gaining about 7 kg. That's why I thought of changing and starting another method. Have just finished my first 36 hours fasting successfully. When I woke up today I was surprised because I was not hungry and even thought of extending my fasting, but then found it better to take things slowly. I didn't feel tired or hungry till the evening, so I took a cup of black coffee and felt much better. I will be doing alternative fasting, which means fasting for 36 hours and eating for one day and then fasting again. I am surprised that after my breakfast I feel so full and far better.
Would love to see the same experiment done when you’ve been following a keto or carnivore diet. Being fat adapted seems to make the experience far more enjoyable with fewer lows. Great video.
I second that! After becoming fat adapted, doing an 8 day fast to heal a tooth abscess without antibiotics was a breeze, whereas previously I had been climbing the walls after 3 days. The 8 day fast also ended a period of chronic fatigue and breathlessness which was a fantastic unexpected bonus! For that reason, I'd be interested if fasting might heal some of those experiencing long covid (though as far as I know that's not what I was suffering from.)
My current record is 6 days. I'd like to do a 10-day fast at some point - maybe later this year! It's so interesting how resilient our bodies are when put to the test. When stressed in specific ways, many health parameters actually improve, which is amazing!
After experimenting with all kinds of diets and exercises I’ve come to the conclusion that mindset is key. If you aren’t disciplined and strong willed to say “I will only have a bite of this” or “I will do this and there’s nothing that is going to stop me from doing it” and actually being able to execute your plan nothing you ever try for your personal well-being will be able to benefit you. I was depressed and sluggish and the more I thought about how depressed and tired I was the more depressed and sluggish I became. Then I learned about the hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid axis and how you are your habits. I wanted to do things but I always listened to the back of my head bringing me down because it was easier to not do anything than to get started, so that creates conflict and contradiction which is extremely draining to our body because you are causing it to fatigue by just giving it the chore to make a choice, it spends it just going back and forth between options. Little by little I’ve been getting my life back, I don’t give myself choices anymore, I give myself a task and that’s it, the only goal is to complete the task. The energy I’ve been able to cultivate is amazing because it gave me the power to go after what I am truly passionate about which is creating the person that I want to be and giving it the things I want to have. I work full time, I go to school, I clean, I cook, I do laundry, and I exercise. However do give yourself a day to relax, be bored and not do anything because cultivating having nothing to do also builds the energy to want to do things later on. There’s power in making a decision and sticking with it til the end regardless of the outcome.
Just need a lot of electrolytes. In my local store there is a mineral salt with sodium, potassium and magnesium for 4€/kg. Don't buy stupidly overpriced electrolyte products.
When it comes to fasting I would just do Water and Salt. People say to drink Black Coffee. Depending on who you are. Coffee is stress in a mug. I have more success just sticking to Water and Salt. Alway start small maybe 16 hours once a week. Then try 24 hours. You want to go slow.
@@yeetdeets Here's a cheap trick.. get a salt lick. You'll get a pound or more of tailored electrolytes in a block for like 2 dollars. There's a lot of ones for certain animals but I recall pigs might be pretty close to our needs?
Started my (hopefully 7 day) fast at 6 pm today, will be updating: Day 1: Feeling great and energized. Surprisingly I'm rather warm than cold, like I just ate a big meal Day 2: Considerably weaker but more focused, felt cold today
I've taken his advise about salt and electrolytes. But instead of once a day I used flavorless liquid electrolytes. I drank some water with the added electrolytes and some salt after everytime I went to the bathroom. Also, one thing people may not take into account is caffeine withdrawals. If you normally drink tea or coffee and go on a water fast then the headache may be as a result of no caffeine as opposed to lacking salt, magnesium, or potassium. Important to keep balance though as caffeine is also a diuretic. This is why I took electrolytes more than once a day.
I just did a 6 day water fast... One of the best experiences and total shift in my mind abt my relationship with food. I just realised we dont need so much of nutrition to our body that we usually think. This is health hack for life...
Day 2 and sometimes into day 3 I often have an extreme reaction of anxiety and anger. If I get through that I can do 4-8 day fasts fairly easily. Longest was 18 days. Been 3 months since I did a multi day long fast. Thank you. Time to do one. Teeing up a fast starting in 3 days.
Do you lose weight when you do these? I am majorly overweight and I did a three day fast months ago and my parents wanted to send me to the hospital lol. They think I’m starving myself to lose weight when really, I’m just fasting. I never got to do it for any big length of time because of that.
Thanks for sharing this video! I've practiced intermittent fasting (16-22 hours per day) for most of the last 5 years. I've found it helps with my mental clarity, energy levels, and digestion. I have yet to fast much longer than 48 hours, so I really appreciate the info and experience you share here! I appreciate all the data you collected and shared on your blood sugar levels, mood, and other journal entries. I've also noticed a huge difference from adding salt into the mix while I'm fasting. My energy level, mental clarity, and ability to resist hunger are all a lot better with salt. I'm surprised you didn't emphasize the importance of the salt being unfiltered, especially since I saw you using the Real Salt brand at one point in the video. I usually go with himalayan pink or celtic grey salt. These options (and Real Salt) include trace minerals, whereas common table salt doesn't. Many people probably don't know there's a difference. I used to laugh in my mind at people who cared and were vocal about using other forms of salt- 'It's all just salt bro...' Standard table salt is also going to taste nasty in comparison to unfiltered options, so will be harder to consume.
Suuuper help full ! I am currently trying a 5+ day fast and was looking for a video where I could kinda understand my ups and downs better. I can really relate to your progress and experiences, so it has given me confidence to get more days done! Really appreciate the content 🙏🙏🙏
Been watching your videos for a while now, and this one has made me make the decision to set an appointment with my nutritionist to talk about getting my eating habits back on track and lose extra weight
I haven't done a 7 day fast but I have been doing 23-24 hour fasts once a week for about a month now and had a week where I did it twice that week. It definitely helps with sugar cravings and also portions. Moving around helps a lot. I do a lot of walking every day and that really helps as he describes in the video. I think that also helps get the body feast on ketones faster if you are looking for a tip. Walking isn't overextensive either. Can burn a lot of cals that way. I've lost a ton of weight with a lot of walking and eating less portions of everything and then eventually cutting out as many unnecessary carbs as I could.
On day 6 of a fast right now. Day 3 for me is the wooooorst. I only drink green tea and water and salt. Each long fast feels like a different animal. Some are easy, some are hard the whole time.
My 5 day fasts go like this: Day 1) most temptations to eat. A little moody. Normal workout 2 hours weights and cardio. Day 2)temptations decreasing. Headache and moody. Normal workout. Day3) temptation to eat virtually gone. Light headed. Begin adding salt to my water. Normal workout. Poor sleep. Day 4) no appetite. Laser focused. Normal workout but noticeable lack of power. Poor sleep. Adding salt and cream of tartar (potassium). Day 5) slight appetite probably due to expectation of food. Laser focused. Normal workout but lacking power.
The amount of potassium and magnesium in LMNT is trivial-practically nothing. It's basically just sodium, which you can buy for much cheaper with just regular salt.
I've been doing 40:8 fasting for a week now and have lost 4-5kg. I drink slightly salted water all day and after 24 hrs I have a bulletproof coffee (black coffee with a tablespoon of grass-fed butter and extra virgin coconut oil. I walk, v light exercise and a swim every day - NO cardio. Its working really well and I'm finding it quite easy.
I've been intermittent fasting for just over a month now doing OMAD with exercise. I did do two 48h fasts in that time as well. I was 16st and this morning i was 14st 2. for me OMAD seems the sweat spot and has made feel a lot happier. Best thing I've done in long time 👍
8-1-22 - I am currently on day 13 of my fast. I've done many types of fasting in the past, just as you have mentioned. My longest fast was for 28 days and that was approximately 10 years ago. This time I'm not sure how long I'm going to go but it will be longer than 28 days. I feel great, lost all sense of hunger on approximately day 6. I've also been doing a lot of research on fasting just to keep me motivated. I have fluctuated in weight from approximately 1990 to the present; I was fluctuating from 180 to my top of 350 pounds. At that highest weight, it was very uncomfortable and I was having other physical symptoms, finally, I was able to motivate myself to start losing weight. In one year I lost 150 pounds by doing my own type of intermittent fasting. Some days I would fast for three to four days some days every other day, it was a complete mix, but it worked for me. I was able to keep the weight off for six to seven years. After my mother passed and other family-type issues I started to regain weight again. I hit 325 pounds two years ago and didn't even realize I was that heavy when I saw that number on the scale. I slowly started working on losing weight but wasn't as successful as I wanted to be. I just wanted to make sure I was under 300 pounds. So I stayed in the 290-pound range for two years and now have finally reached the point to remotivate myself and find my WHY. I'm doing this fast to of course lose weight but also to cleanse and purify my body and my cells as much as possible. There was a point when I was towards the end of my 28-day fast years ago where I thought I could never have to eat again, I felt like I could live off the energy of the sun, it was a strange sensation, but also a very pleasant sensation. You have to be very dedicated and motivated to do these types of fasts, but if you're 'ready' you can see wonderful things happening to your body, to your thought processes, and you have a new sense of being... I love it! PS I'm writing this to hopefully motivate someone else!!!
@@Oneworld1984 your skin improves during an extended fast, some research indicates that autophagy processes/recycles worn-out/unnecessary tissues, Dr Jason Fung's own fasting clinic also found that in the vast majority of cases, people did not have any issues with loose skin after fasting. Typically even when you fast, your body will process around 20-30g of Protein, a small portion of this being your muscle mass, while some comes from your own skin tissues/membranes. From my own experience, I did a 43 day water fast and had almost no loose skin when I ended the fast.
I was doing int fasting 18/6 for a year and decided to step it up . Began doing 36 hours , then 48. I now do 60 hours ( start fasting 1900 hours Sunday and eat again sometime around 0800 Wednesday ) once a week. I train most days except tue as this is my weakest point . I started doing this to get rid of the stubborn belly fat that is hard to shift ( I’m 43 btw) but now it’s more for the cleansing and autophagy effects. I would like to do a 5/7 day fast maybe once every 6 months but happy with what I’m doing for now. Would deff recommend fasting but if it’s something new just start with something simple like the 18/6 hour fast and progress over time as you get used to it.
@saiyanelitessj5516 That's great! I'm currently going through the same. 6 months ago I started IF 16/8 and weight training 5x a week. I experienced amazing fat loss results and even some muscle gain, I went down from 180lbs to 150lbs. Eventually I started fasting longer and longer, for the past 2 months, I've been fasting 48hours twice a week, it makes me feel lean, strong and great overall. Somehow I can't get rid of the last bits of "stubborn fat" over my belly button and lower chest areas. I think I might hit my first plateau. I decided to step it up and do a 5 day or maybe 7 day water fast for the first time ever, with the purpose and hope of losing the mentioned stubborn fat that is so hard to lose.
I live in mild ketosis and don't generally suffer from weakness or fatigue when I do an extended fast. I don't always get amazing clarity either but it does wonders for my musculoskeletal pain. I think you're setting yourself up for struggle if you're not time zone adapted or sleeping very badly. Being fat adapted helps too. I also think that for most folks, working up to longer fasts helps to weaken clock-related and situational hunger.
There's the need of a fasting video showing how people around you get offended when you're doing a fast, and how they turn "making you eat" an obsession
I've been experimenting very similar to you for about 5 years on and off, especially with keto and fasting (obviously much easier !) I've no doubt that your body adapts more and more to fasting and the hunger strikes less and less, or is perceived differently. I also find that keeping active is key. If you give in to the drained malaise that can occur in low points it just makes it worse - better off like you said taking water/salt/ electrolytes and get moving imho ! Great video, I'll never stop learning about this fascinating subject.
Proud Abraham for sticking with it. Very informative video and the differences in fat adaptation between the 2 of you. I tended to drink too much dark coffee in mine. Now I drink green tea instead bc it doesn't hurt my stomach. Thank you for this video.
I've done a 5 week fast only consuming water (3 64 ounce bottles daily minimum) and once a week I had an herbal tea as a treat. The first week is very hard but hunger does disappear nearly completely. I was cooking for a family of 5 and even then the hunger wasn't present. The harderst part is after the fast I was unable to consume most foods. I had to start with liquids and wing myself back on my more solids for the next week because my body spent so long with out any intake it could not handle any solids at first which is why you get full and in my experience after fasting for that long and them going back to a normal diet is dangerous and can cause many health concerns. Just a note for if anyone is trying a long term fast your friend after 2 weeks is vitamins make sure you get what you are lacking and check in with a doctor before the fast and every couple of weeks incase something happens. Just for long term fasting be sure to be safe and dont ignore warnings signs.
At one point, I was 287lbs with a 42" waist at 6'1". At first, fasting was hard. But then combining that with a strict gym routine, has taken me to levels I never thought I could do. First was a 3 day fast, then 1 week fasts and then finally, doing fasts for a month at a time. By day 4 my hunger is gone entirely. Got all the way down to 180lbs. Now I'm 200 with visible abs. 31 waist with 17" biceps and a 56" chest. Save a ton on food as well. Coffee in the morning, then Gatorade and energy drinks. Water, of course, mio, calorie free tea, etc. But one of my best tricks was calorie free jello with calorie free canned whipped cream. I think the biggest benefit of fasting is that it changes your relationship with food. You understand you don't need to eat as much or as often and you'll be just fine.
its learning the difference between real nutrient deficient hunger and the fake all day cravings the Candida sugar loving bacteria that can overrun the gut causes as it makes the neurotransmitters that signals your brain to feed it more carbohydrates. Just finished my 7 days fast and planning to extend it. One thing helped more is drinking warm water. Fasting make your body goes to rest and can get cold easily. Drinking warm water give an illusion to my body that I’m still producing heat. Every type of body is different so do what the best when you’re fasting :D
Really nice tip thank you ❤

haha I was thinking this as well, I drink warm water because if I concentrate hard enough, it can taste like tea or milk
It’s much better to drink warm water generally for the body!
5g sodium, 3g potassium and 0.5g magnesium is the recommended per day, even more if you sweat or exercise.
It makes it much much easier.
@@freeubi Even when not fasting I go thru a lot of salt.
Tranquil that's the word utter peace when past 5 days
What potassium would you recommend for daily consumption?
Could you make a video about noise affecting health? Ambient noise in cities are often seen as just minor inconveniences, however there is research it actually has a big impact on health, for example stress levels. Not only does it affect the body, it also affects our behaviour, in an environment with higher noise levels people are more likely to end conversations prematurely, be less patient, less generous, to name a few. The book "Curbing Traffic" has a chapter about the health impacts of noise pollution, but you are an expert on going through research and distilling them into awesome videos, big thank you for your work!

@Grey oh, leave him alone. At least his comment is probably real.

For sure noise pollution is way worse for us than everyone makes it to be. We existed without it for millions of years. It doesn't really make sense that we have any mechanism to cope with it.

One important thing to understand is that there is a difference between hunger and wanting to eat.
True. A lot of fat people eat because they are bored.
Sometimes my stomach is hungry and sometimes my mouth/tongue is hungry
@@WanderTheNomad One is hunger, the other is just -craving- appetite.
Many people don't actually know the former.

How many "48 hours fast" did you do? And how much total weight did you lose?
I'm doing OMAD for almost a month. Very low carb. Haven't weighed but lost inches.
Hopefully your doing better now 👍🏽
Hope you're doing better now 🙂
Thats awesome man
I have done 7 days of water diet (includes 1 coffee and coconut water) a year ago and break the fast with a pumpkin soup 🍲.
No carbs but you ate a ton of veggies? Didn’t your veggies have carbs?
@@EvgeshkaVideo I do have social gathering with friends and family. If we are eating out then I will stick with steak or baked fish and drink only water.

Jason Fung pointed out that hunger comes in waves when you are fasting. Like anything else in life, self-awareness is the key to self-discipline.

@BaoLin i do 16/8 almost everyday because it is easier for me to eat in a small window. (Not right now though since i currently have covid) If you want to fast for weight loss then in my experience the longer the better.
@noahbrookes1190 many people have cured “incurable” disease through prolonged fasting. Your opinion is not worth much.
Yeah, I found I was still ravenously hungry @ day 4 of a water fast.

@Nokhchi I have a friend that does this. Is it one certain religious belief?
@@daphne201239 Yes it is the Prophet Muhammads way of fasting. There were many times in a year that was religiously obligated to fast, for example fasting awhole month called Ramadan. Basically that was fasting from sunrise to sunset and being able to eat and drink from sunset to sunrise. (doesnt mean you should).
But apart from those obligatory days, the Prophet fasted the rest of the year when he willed. Again they were sunrise to sunset though.

Man, that's exactly what I was telling everyone!
It's called starvation

Did you have any gallstones issues? Google says fast weight loss can cause gallstones but I dont know if that’s common or not
I been fasting on and off for 4 years now.

I'm on day 7 of a 10 day fast. I was mostly doing OMAD prior to this so I was probably fat adapted becauseI have had zero hunger so far but feel a bit tired.
Many Jains in India do 8 day total fast. Only drink warm water sip by sip
I think it would be interesting to compare your Oura data with the week after when you were eating again. See if you retained or gained any benefits from the fasting week. Also with the week before fasting if you have that data.
If you plan on doing this periodically, the longitudinal data on those 3 weeks could be very insightful.

And then that making fun of you eating salt 😂😂
I love meeting more people like me that study these things fasting ketosis primitive ancestors and much more
Careful fasting like that, i've read some studies that have changed my mind on it, its short term benefits come more from the flush your body does and the fats converted to keytones for the cells.
Yeah, I'm carnivore and it's so much easier starting out already fat adapted.
This speaks to me so much.
I am fasting for 4 days already and I forgot to drink salt. I had 0 intake of salt for 4 days. Thx for reminding me. It helped a lot.

I used to laugh in my mind at people who cared and were vocal about using other forms of salt- 'It's all just salt bro...'
Standard table salt is also going to taste nasty in comparison to unfiltered options, so will be harder to consume.
FYI: our bodies pump out muscle sparing hormones up to the 2-day mark. After that, the body starts cannibalising muscle.
Eric, how much salt did you intake? Did u mix it with just water?
I make my own Liquid IV mixes and use Himalayan salt thats more dense in nutrients than basic iodized salts.

Don't you lose glow and elasticity from your skin...I am very curious to kbow about skin health after such long fast
@@Oneworld1984 Not losing any of that because the toxins are leaving the body the glow actually gets more intense From the purification
You have an eating disorder and should get professional help sir
28 day fast! That is amazing. How did you do it? Did you keep a journal? I would love to know.
It's amazing how much we think about food. Prepping, cleaning and eating...
Awesome! I started with 19:5, and only have done 48-72 hrs a few times. Autophagy and the extension of talemeres are motivators for me too.

That's great!
Watch out for the re-feeding syndrome. Please be mindful what you eat after a longer fast. Be safe! And great job!
Your body wants to survive. It could adjust to drinking piss if you kept drinking it. Fasting can be highly dangerous for women.
Tricks your mind and stomach into satiety thinking you're eating food, but in reality it equivelates to nothing. Ha grelin!
Thanks for the jello with whipped cream tip!
if you're eating jello and whipped cream, albiet calorie free, you aint fasting
@@sandycultofthesun your body doesn't know the difference. Zero calories is zero calories. As far as your metabolism is concerned, you're still fasting.
@@charlestannehill7537 I've done a few fasts in the past on just water, period. And I always caved after about 48-72 hrs. I'm on day 4 now but I've been drinking zero calorie drinks and occasionally chewing zero calorie gum and it's made it way easier. Once your past the hunger there is still the desire to eat that is separate from hunger. Having something flavorful, even if it's just gum or seltzer, helps get past that. I gotta see if I can find zero calorie jello, that sounds like a great idea.
@@siggyincr7447 yeah, it's the flavor that psychologically tricks you. As long as you're ingesting something with zero calories, and it has flavor, it's going to work.
