Great Video and information Dr. Ekberg. I just did a 5 day fast and I'm thinking about a 24 hour fast on Monday's, Wednesday's, and Friday's, do you think that would be ok? Or is it more beneficial to fast 3 days 3 times a year? This video has helped me a lot to understand the benefits of fasting!!!! God Bless You and ALL Your Family Dr. Ekberg FOREVER AMEN🙏

What kind of minerals or how much, ect per day? Can I just drink some mineral water from the store, or do I need to buy something? What about salt per day, how much and when do I start that? Is salt the mineral your talking about? Do I need to worry about electrolytes? Is that just salt? Maybe a whole video on just "minerals". I don't want any negatives from fasting. Thanks.

I just did a 72 hour fast. The hours from 24 to 48 were the hardest when I was hungriest and ready to give up and eat, but after 48 hours it became much easier. I'm nearing 72 hours now as I write this. I'm doing this for health benefits--not for weight loss as I'm already slim enough but hoping these fasts can help with cancer suppression.

    I’m 40 years old
I do a 24 hour fast once a week and a 5 day fast once a quarter but following that quarterly fast I do one week of eating anything Ive been craving whenever i want. That usually means beer, cheeses, fried chicken, beans, mac & cheese, bread, deserts, fruit & hamburgers/hot dogs. I try to plan out in advance so that im not restricted at big social gatherings like Christmas or july 4th. Ive started not feeling so great after 7 days of indulgence and my belief is that its great reminder to stay on track. On a daily basis i eat within a 6-8 hour interval. In 2 years of doing this ive dropped from 390lbs to 195lbs and I’m within 10lbs of my division 1 college baseball days. My health markers are around a healthy 25 year olds now per my doctor and im off all medications. She’s got a before/after pic of me in the office. When she asked for permission to do so we both cried.
If anyone cares I don’t count calories I just divide my plate in half (normal 9” dinner plate and one half is eggs, beef, fish or sometimes wild game and the other half is cooked vegetables. most days between my two meals i eat a good size salad with vinaigrette style dressing & no crutons and 2-3 dark chocolate squares & frozen berries or chia pudding for desert.
My exercise consists of sprint intervals 2-3 days a week (or swim in a pool for 30-40 minutes) and 2-3 days a week I do some basic weight lifting and go for a 30 minute walk after. Typically 5 days total but sometimes 6 but never on my fasting days.
I started in absolutely terrible health and with zero motivation. As cliche as it sounds if I can do this anyone can!

I did 20 days of water fasting. I was fine. I read an old medical journal beforehand that described medical fasting in great detail.
    1) fasting for extended periods will cause pain in areas where you had previous scar tissue, like old wounds. I had pelvic inflammatory disease 20yrs ago, when I fasted my ovaries seemed to both be in pain for one night only. I believe during the first week. After the one night of pain, it was gone. The reason for the pain is that your body is eating the old scar tissue. But it’s helping you, even though it temporarily hurts it’s good for you.
    2) do enemas. When you fast you will experience less dizziness, nausea, and other problems if you do enemas. Your bowels slow way down and don’t pass stool as much when you’re fasting, so it’s good to get the old stool out and helps your body detox faster.
    3) you will have stomach grumbles, maybe even some cramping in your stomach, but you are not in danger of starvation unless you have sharp stabbing pains in your stomach. If you feel sharp stabbing pains in your stomach then you should begin to drink juice or broth which will break your fast. Usually this does not happen until between 20-40 days of water fasting! So you can go quite long on a fast as Jesus did.
I wouldn’t stop fasting just bc if dizziness or headache bc I always feel those when I begin fasting for the first 1-4days. After about 3 or 4 days I am much clearer and feel much better.
Fasting for 20 days I did feel weakness and dizziness more toward the end, I lost about 15lbs. I’d recommend eating healthy for a few days to begin with like the doc said in the video.
Lastly, if you don’t know Jesus I urge you to seek Him. I was not on a health fast, I was on a spiritual one, and I felt a huge weight of un-forgiveness lift off of my shoulders in the last week. I didn’t even realize I needed that, but the Lord knew. And He knows what you need. Don’t waste all your time trying to perfect your health for a body that will die. Work on your soul more. You have a living King who would guide you in EVERY PERFECT WAY, if you would just give over your heart to Him. Jesus Christ is who the Bible says He is. May You seek Him and gain eternity in heaven.

    • @kallen9731
      @kallen9731 2 года назад +2

@@NeverendingSaga it’s hard, but it’s possible. I got really weak in the second and third week. I was cold all the time and my daughter and two neighbor friends kept an eye on me. I still had to prep my daughters food for school and make her dinner which was hard but yes, I did a 20day water fast and it was worth it. I’m leading up to doing another fast which will start this week. This will be no food except for dinner and dinner will only be certain foods. I used to love water, after my fast I craved juice a lot more bc I was so sick of water. I’m finally just getting back into loving water the way I did before. Anyway, don’t be such a skeptic. Fasting is not that scary, most ppl these days just listen to the fearful media and are too scared to try, also most ppl these days lack discipline. But if you set your mind to it, you can achieve it.

Yes. You're absolutely correct. The Lord has provided His creatures with healthy foods. Man's greed for money has no limits. We're tempted by tasty garbage and succumb. I started fasting since July of 2021. A lot of friends ask me how do I do it to have a slim body but also very muscular, they compliment me by saying I look really good; but when I tell them I fast they immediately start saying “oh well your just starving yourself, I can’t never skip a meal”. And it’s almost always the same thing. They see me and see and ask me the same question and I always give them the same answer and when they hear that I’m fasting they immediately say “nah that can’t be it, all your doing is starving yourself”.

I love this channel! Always such great information.
I'm a homesteader/farmer so I find more than 24hrs no food is too much for me because my days are physically demanding. But I really find that I only eat between the hours of 9 or 10am to 6 or 7pm. It works really well and I feel my energy levels are sufficient with one large meal in late afternoon and one smaller meal mid morning.
I really don't feel the need to eat breakfast but water and herbal teas are my go to...sometimes fruit.
The biggest lesson I have learned about my body this year has been knowing the difference between:
    1. When I'm thirsty.
2.When I am hungry for body fuel.
    3. When my stomach is just empty but I don't need fuel.

During those 65 hours I had coffee (of course just black with nothing else in it like I normally take), about 1.5 L of coconut water (8gm of sugar per 500 ml, which is not too bad I believe), and 1L of maple tree water (about same sugar content as that coconut water). And on my second day I went to the gym (did almost same routine as I would normally do, just a little bit less). Now I am fasting every week.

@@mikedemonbreun6639Hope it’s been going well. If I could give you a little insight as to what I did cause maybe it’ll help. I used to weight 205 and wanted to get back down to like 160. When I first started, I did intermittent fasting which is awesome. I got to eat whatever I wanted. I was eating tacos and pizza and still losing weight. All you have to do is just eat once a day and make sure you eat slowly. Savor and enjoy every bite of your one meal and drink liquids as you eat, juice or water, doesn’t matter. Eating slowly and enjoying the food not only really let’s you appreciate the taste so much more, but it gives the food time to reach your stomach as you eat. Eat till you’re full, but don’t gorge yourself to the point of nausea or discomfort. I typically just ate whatever I had bought for the night. A $5 box from Taco Bell with a burrito, a combo meal from Wendy’s with some ice cream etc., and then called it a night after that. Also, great to do it at night so you can just sleep right after and not have to go through your day knowing you can’t touch anymore food. This way you can wake up and see food throughout your day and know that in a few hours you’ll have a feast and can include whatever it is you saw in that meal. Though after a while, you may reach a plateau like I did, and this technique will no longer make you progress. You’ll either have to cut calories, or switch to something else. I just started eating two meals a day and counted calories. I reached my goal weight and I’m now working out for muscle, lowering body fat %. I eat 2 or 3 times a day, I don’t track calories, but just make mindful food decisions which is all you really need. Do you really need that much food on the plate? Shouldn’t you opt for that lower calorie baked potato rather than French fries? Is that one slice of cheese really worth the calories? It’s not really changing the flavor all that much. I could eat a biscuit, fries, and some deep fried fish.. or I could have the lower calorie alternative of grilled fish, diced oven baked potatoes, and veggies, which is still delicious if prepared correctly. Stay away from that donut. Stay away from that cake. Alright, you can have some, but only a very small piece or two. Just don’t eat half of it in one sitting. It’s all you really need to do. Just make some mindful decisions. Good luck to you!

Having been quite skeptical of this whole intermittent fasting idea, I did decide to try it. I'm happy I did!
I was a competitive athlete when I was younger; national caliber swimmer, and also a Rugby player. Started a business and didn't take care of my health, so ended up at 227 lbs at age 60, which is 50 lbs over where I should be if I was in great shape.
Started doing the OMAD, as suggested by Dr. Ekberg, and am 6 weeks into it. Lost 23 lbs, and it wasn't even that hard! I eat dinner with my family at 6:30 every evening, and that's it. A couple of cups of tea during the day, and I'm finding the OMAD relatively comfortable. I swim 1500 meters three times a week (with 5 sprints of 100m and 50m at the end of the workout), and do a couple of easy Mountain Bike rides with my daughter, and that is a sweet spot for my exercise routine. I don't feel like I am lacking energy during my workouts; 1500 meters at a fast pace is very difficult, but I don't feel it is more difficult than when I wasn't fasting.
At the moment, my resting heart rate is 53 bpm, my blood pressure is 118/68 and my blood test results look really good where previously I was borderline hypertensive and pre-diabetic.
The reason I like Dr. Ekberg's approach, is that he explains all the science and reasoning behind his advice; he's not some fitness influencer who doesn't grasp the basic science of the process.
My next step is to try and go to a Keto diet and see if that helps.

That gives us a 48hr fast and it didn't take much effort. Seems like once you miss a meal the body resets the timer and just waits for the next eating period. This is excellent information and well delivered.
I’m 62 and started water fasting when I was early 20’s then after years I went to juice fasting and certain detoxes over the years. I also developed at a young age serious addiction to sugars and carbs that’s taken me many many years to break and it’s still a mindset for me.
Today I experience chronic pain and difficulty symptoms of cptsd and gut challenges ; SIBO and other bacterial gut challenges that have at times been crippling.
I decided about a month ago to reinstate prolonged water fasting. I’ve been IF for about 3 years but I haven’t been consistent with it nor do I follow a strict keto diet. I now utilize a combo platter of Whole30 , Paleo and some low FODMAP foods.
I’ve been water fasting for the Last month 24-48 hours . This week I did a full 3 day water fast with a total of over 90 hours starting from my last meal.
So my question is pertaining to what Dr Egberg ended with. What and how do I add minerals while I’m water fasting so not to break the fast. I did use a bit of salt and maybe 2 tsp (total each day) of pure lemon and 2-3 tbls of ACV each day (total)
I read cream of tartar will add potassium and not break the fast.
    Is this correct ?
Thank you in advance for any information that may be Beneficial to my prolonged fasting.
Oh and is it ok while I go through this healing crisis if we do a 72 or 3 day water fast weekly for a couple of months and continue IF in the other days.
I feel that may be ok and I can just try it and see how it goes. When I read about prolonged water fasting ; most of what I read is to do it once a quarter at most.
    Thoughts ??
    🙏❤️😎

Teaching myself to deal with hunger and not “have to” satisfy it has been the number 1 thing that helped me fast and lose 17lbs so far. I would go 16-20 hours fasting, and would break my fast with no carb foods. I would allow myself some carbs on the last two hours of my fast if I absolutely wanted to. So if I did a 16 hour fast, I’d still be “carb fasted” until hour 22.

My first ever water fast was 4 days long. Day 2 and 3 SUCKED (super low energy, hallucinating food, etc.). I was coming from an unhealthy (unrestricted) eating baseline. However, I stayed in ketosis after the initial 4-day fast, practiced intermittent fasting as well, and started feeling really good. A few months later, I tried prolonged fasting again - I made it 5 days EASY and felt REALLY GOOD the whole time. So if you feel like garbage on your first try, don't give up. You should actually be even more motivated if that happens, because it's a clear sign that something is wrong. I wasn't terribly overweight, but I still lost 30lbs, which put me exactly at my ideal age/height weight. My body stayed at that weight pretty much no matter what for the entire year without fluctuating much. The most difficult part (initially) was getting used to keeping net carbs under 20g per day (finding all the right foods and filling up).

@@georgeyau92121 Exercise during fasting should be avoided mostly. You can do a little bit of gentle exercise if you are very well fat adapted, Meaning you have been in ketosis for at least a couple of weeks. Just because you are in ketosis it doesn't mean that you are automatically fat adapted. Your body has to ramp up its ability to draw on fat stores for energy and that takes a while. Think of fasting as a time of rest for your body. Arrest your metabolism and your muscles and if possible your mind. Some gentleexercise like walking and maybe short bike rides that don't make you terribly wind it would be fine. Most importantly if you do do a little bit of gentle exercise it should be aerobic in nature. Lifting weights or doing cardio should be avoided as much as possible during fasting. You need to consume protein when you do these kinds of exercises.

I was a competitive gymnast. Coaches telling us constantly that we are fat and not working hard. We were often injured and exhausted. I am desperate to reorient my relationship with food. My mindset in my relationship with food. I want to break the cycle of fear and addiction to the binge/purge cycle. It’s hard to wrap my head around it. It’s a very different thing to fast with a purpose as opposed to being deprived of food and then binging and purging so you don’t get screamed at during weigh ins. I guess I just want to reclaim control over my fear my body and my mind. I’m not overweight but I’m just squish and tired all the time. Perhaps a fast with intention is what I need to reset everything. I’m going to try!!!

@Elberg Thank you so much for great videos once again. I was 80Kg by this beginning of 2022 and started doing intermediate and gradually from 4 months. I feel that now I can. I learned many good information and strategy about fasting during this period from you and it keeps me motivated. I now weigh around 72kg.

I just was Covid positive and immediately started a 72 hour fast. By day 5 after my Covid positive test I completed my fast and I felt great. I had no symptoms and I felt like I had never been sick. I drank lots of water every day with two packets of LMNT and a multivitamin. I also took an extra B1.

Hello everyone, I read a lot of people here sharing their stories about IF (Intermettent Fasting) and just wanted to share my 2 cents.
Started with 104kg on 184cm in january. Now I am at 86.7kg (today) and lost roughly about 15kg (30lbs? sorry I'm from europe lol) Sten Ekberg does an incredible job to describe what to do and what not. Here is what helped me:
    - Started out to skip breakfast and only drink water + black coffee till 12:00 o'clock, last meal at 20:00 (so 8 hour eating window), no limitation on what food I ate or something just 8 hours of eating. Progress was like maybe.. 1-2 kgs? Since I started to eat the same stuff just in a shorter time = no calorine decifit .. ugh!
    - Cutted out carbs to a maximum of 30-50g per day (if it's possble sometimes I go for zero) and tracked ma calories to eat around 2-2.5k each.
    - Started working out (Hiking HUGE factor, MMA (fun!!!) and jogging (relaxing!)
    - Getting more quality sleep made sure I slept 8 hours
    - drink atlest 1.5l water per day
Basically I didnt start a diet or something, I changed my lifestyle. I am a active and confident person now. Hope my comments boost your motivation to keep going - discipline will take you anywhere!

Yours is an amazing story but surely you couldn't have started like that all of a sudden maybe a slow but gradual change I don't know depends on the willpower and inner mental strength to just start... You could add exercises later else it's too difficult not to eat anything for that long after exercising or something

@@sizzlingschumi9005 Hi! I guess I have phrased myself wrong regarding my "switch" to IF and my eating habits. :) You are right, don't just turn a switch on and shock your body.. Take tiny steps for example first skip a meal.. afteer 2-3 weeks, reduce your carbs, after a 2-3 weeks reduce sugar intake etc. and than start out with some activities - some gym, cardio etc. adept and dont be afraid of your scale!! that's really important I personally weighted myself every day since january. Listen to your body and just adjust how you need it.
Since you wrote willpower and inner mental strength - what helped me the most is to disconnect "Food = Happy". I just saw food as my oil to function, I had no emotional feelings connected to it or trying to release stress by eating lots of stuff.. I just ate and just said ok i'm done, dont think about it anymore

I started end of January too. But for me it was easier. I was already skipping breakfast. Had decided I was not hungry until 10-11am. Had not been a big sugar eater. But found out about carbs and intermittent fasting. Had only been two meals a day by then. Lowered the eating window to 6 hours then four hours the first week. Found I was forcing the second meal, so within a week was omad. Have been since then. Hunger left after 3 days. That convinced me to carry on. Have been doing under 20 carbs a day. Had to watch lots of videos to get the info. This Dr is one of the best. This week, early May down by 17kg. I am 69 year old female. It's not just the weight loss, my whole body has changed, can feel the adaption. People are now noticing and ask me what I am doing. Never intend to go back to high carb.

I don't think I ever went 2 whole days without food until this week. I was trying to go three but by two I threw in the towel. I definitely can tell the difference and the benefits. I had inflammation really bad internally. I need a few more sessions but I'm glad there's a tool in the tool box to fix these issues that isn't going to cause other issues like medication.

Excellent rundown of what happens. I do OMADand throw in a 48 once a week .I have had several attempts at 72 hours but came to a halt about 54 hours and when I break my fast, I realise I could have done it and that I wasn't really hungry. I have written this into my notebook and will give it a go. Thank you.

Thanks for these videos. A bit complicated to me, but pulling out the basics I went on a fat/weight loss journey. I started not eating breakfast, also doing low impact cardio/standing abs exercise videos (your belly fat burning ab exercises too) Mon thru Fri, then after 2 -3 months I quite lunch also. Now I eat only dinner no later than 7:30pm, no snacking either. So after about 6 months I have reduced my weight by around 25lbs. Can't wait until my next Dr. visit to see what my labs look like!

Just broke my 50-hr fast...next is 3 days. I wasn't really hungry, but kinda miss the taste of meat and good food. So I broke the fast and had some juicy roast, aged Cheddar, white asparagus and homemade broth.

I was recently in a difficult situation stranded by flood waters in northern NSW Australia. Four days were spent in an evacuation centre and although the food was by all account well prepared, I decided to fast and avoid the carb rich food on offer. For me it's easy. I was prepared to go days without eating because the fasting alone would be of great benefit and avoiding the tasty well intended food would also be of great benefit. It was a win win situation.
