Do you have or can you make a video about what happens with the eyes. I need to know about vision improvements and floater reduction with fasting. Thank you!!
Thank you. We have a family member going through end-of-life food and water minimizing--just enough to take medications. Also had a friend with stomach cancer that could only take in little sips of water and he lived another 3 months. It's amazing how the body can adapt on its own.
I have cancer and take weekly chemo treatments. I have had 13 treatments. I watched an oncologist RUclips video and she said she recommends fasting for 48 hours before chemo treatments to her patients. The ones who do so have less side effects from the chemo. So I have fasted all but two times. Those two times I felt much worse. I was exhausted, had blurry vision, some chest pain, and back ache. I went back to fasting and feel fine after my treatment. I get a little tired but nothing like the times I didn’t fast. There is also the possibility that the chemo treatments will fight the cancer better when it’s given in a fasted state. My prognosis is good. Fasting rocks!
I had cancer 23 yrs ago. Took radiation for may lymphoma. Get rid of as much sugar as possible! Take as much cucumin, beef, fish, pork, cabbage , Krill oil, Vit D3, B1, asparagus every day as much as you can. I gained 8 lbs on radiation . Proton radiation treatment. Keep goi. Check out stem cell treatments. It has really worked wonders for a lot of people. It is your life. Check into everything.
I'm a person who usually sees through anyone who is trying to butter me up with sweet talk. But somehow I just love the way this guy calls us 'health champions".
I’ve been intermittently fasting for months, recently started fasting over the weekends, not eating from Thursday night all the way to Sunday night, it’s tough but it gets easier every time I do it. I am coming to a year now since I started my health journey, I lost 40kg of fat, and feel my best. God bless you Dr. Sten Ekberg.
I’m carnivore and have been fat adapted for almost a year now and I do really well at the OMAD fast, but the last couple of 3 day fasts I’ve tried have been miserable and by day 3 I’m so dizzy, weak, and sick that I have to eat. I have a keto mojo and by the morning of day three, I’m at glucose of 71 and ketones of 4.9. I drink my electrolyte fasting drops, but I still get dizzy. Since I’ve been eating zero carbs for months and feeling great, I thought fasting long term would get easier, but it’s getting worse. People say they love the mental clarity when they long term fast but I get brain fog. I seem to be experiencing the opposite of normal. I want the benefits of a long term fast, but maybe I’m just someone who can’t do them. I still have 50 pounds left to lose, so plenty of fat left to work off, but I’ve lost almost 100 pounds so far! I wish I could say the more I do my 3 day fasts, the easier they get, but I’m one of those that keeps getting worse. It also creates stomach issues for me when I start eating again (even though I start slowly with introducing food)
@@tb54321 it’s my third weekend in a row now, by Saturday I will be dizzy and feel like I want to faint. I found resting is essential, drinking water, tea and coffee, the later two with coconut cream really takes the edge off. I’m sorry to read it isn’t as easy for you as it may be to me, but know it’s not “easy” it’s definitely effort to keep it going. My goal essentially for me is to lose as much of my left over fat as I can, and be able to go without food for at least 3 days a week while only eating dinner for 4 days. But I also been thinking maybe eat every 48 hours that could also be powerful. About that mental clarity, I’ve had it throughout up to Xmas where I took a “break” from the diet, it was really really bad and I wish I didn’t take that break it took me a whole month finding back to it. But you’re doing the right thing, defeating the hunger and food addiction is the best thing you can do. I feel free
Thank you @retrospectivelyspectacular2331 for sharing your great results and helping inspire others. That is so awesome. I am thrilled that you have seen such great results. Keep it up! 😄
_Because of the courage I gained from watching your in-depth videos about fast, I started fasting 14 months ago._ *My longest water fast is 134 hours and my longest dry fast is 69 hours.* I'm at my ideal weight, my muscle tone is fabulous, and my histamine intolerance (extreme asthmatic problem) is *GONE.* Thank you so much for your life's work - it changed my life and my 77 year old mom's, too. She's an avid faster, now, too, IF and prolonged. Oh, and it goes without saying we cleaned up our diet to as close to perfection as we can get.
Another man mentioned the same thing on the ‘Healthy Alternative’ YT channel. He lost over 100+ lbs and still going and cured his allergies through water fasting. No more pills to take for him.
@@jactac838 Sorry, just saw this today. You can do a search on "high histamine food" to answer your question; it's extensive. Beef is especially high because it's all aged at the butcher before it's sold and that allows the histaDine to break down to histaMine and become a big problem for the histamine intolerant folk. But lots of spices, vegetables, and fruit have histamine, too.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am a 50 year old woman in perimenopause and intermittent fasting has changed my life! I do periodic 48 hour fasts with no problem..and now I would like to try longer. I don’t do long fasting a week before my cycle and add a few healthy carbs to help with progesterone and my oh my! What a difference. I still have 15 pounds to go to my goal weight if where I was in my 20’s and 30’s. I’ve had 3 children (my last at 41 years of age) and I NEVER thought I could combat belly fat and insulin resistance. Thanks again for sharing your free knowledge!
I started regular fasting and exercising at age 62- (both induce autophagy) I went very low carb and am down 88 lbs! I read that sitting 8-10 hours a day is worse than smoking for the body, so I'm walking my dogs 2 miles a day. Keep it moving people! Thank you Dr. Ekberg! ❤
Exercising induces autophagy in skeletal muscles, the brain, some of the organs, adipose tissues, it's body specific. Fasting induces all over autophagy. So what happens if you Fast and also exercise Fasted near the end of your Fast. Is that process synergistic? I'm going to look that up 😊
@@Dgyhjigtjm no- but they should try to take a 30 minute walk after work . As long as you exercise minimum 30 minutes per day you can be healthy and sit at a desk job.
My four day fast brought my blood sugar down to 63. I didn't tell my doctor the day of the checkup. When the results came in, he told me my blood sugar was low and not to fast. He didn't know I went into the checkup on a 4 day fast.
@@osmosisdaily Ooh, I took it down as I am not a doctor and never want to misinform anyone… but thanks, I’m glad you read it. I guess it won’t hurt to mention the key part: 63 is Low! 80-90 is normal. But if your blood sugar is 63 after 4 days of fasting and it is stabilized there, that would make sense. But if you are eating normally, NOT fasting, and the bloodsugar is that low? You don’t want to do anything that could drop it even lower.
Here is a summary of the key points from the video: - Fasting for 100 hours can have many health benefits like weight loss, reduced inflammation, improved mental clarity, lowered insulin resistance, and possibly reversed type 2 diabetes. - When fasting, the body primarily burns glycogen stores for the first 24 hours. This releases water stored with glycogen, resulting in initial weight loss. It then transitions to burning more fat. - Fasting lowers insulin levels, helping the body become more insulin sensitive. This promotes fat burning over storage and reduces hunger. - Fasting activates autophagy, the process of cellular cleaning and rejuvenation. It also increases growth hormone and BDNF levels, both beneficial for tissue repair and brain function. - Fasting may reduce inflammation by lowering pro-inflammatory immune cells and free radicals. It can improve gut and microbiome health as well. - Electrolytes like sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium should be supplemented during extended fasts to prevent symptoms from their loss. - LDL and total cholesterol levels may rise with fasting initially but LDL particle counts fall, reducing heart disease risk. - Most people will not lose muscle during shorter fasts due to growth hormone elevation. Bone and organ reserves also allow fasting without nutrient deficiency. In summary, intermittent or extended fasting can provide various health benefits by inducing metabolic changes like autophagy and ketosis. Electrolyte supplementation is recommended for fasts over 24 hours.
Just one thing to clearfy ldl levels irrelevant or relative in atherosclerosis. The real issue is oxidised ldl and it has lower volume than normal ldl,you need to look for ldl size distrubution to see that tho which no one really looks for although when when oxidation of ldl is high ldl cant clear trigliserids body produce more ldl to clear trigliserids only to get more dysfunctioned ldl that accumulates and do nothing increasing dysfunction even further so if you have high ldl and low trigliserids it just means you just eat a lot of fat thats it.. Trigliserit numbers is a clear indication of both oxidised ldl and atherosclerosis along with hba1c levels.
I started my 100+ hours fast yesterday after my dinner. It's been 18 hours since I started it. I hope I will make it to 100 hours. If I could complete it this time I am planning to do this once a month 🙂. It's nice to read comments here and get motivated Edit : I have made it ( 1st 100 hr fast in march)

I am 70 years old, a Muslim. For 10 years now, I have been fasting on Mondays and Thursdays. Every morning, I walk 1 km to the mosque for the past 5 years. No diabetes, no hypertension, fit, and increase memory by reading the Quran. What foods do I eat? Anything but a moderate amount (as our prophet said). Take care.
Our Orthodox Christian religion exist longer as the Islam and we do fasting so often and longer as most religions, that is why so many older people in our countries (Habeshas) live very long and are healthy. As the prophet of the Islam used to have a good relationship to our vorfathers and our Kingdom the „Nejasti“, he than accept many wise Christian rituals into the early Islam. All praise to the Lord for the wisdom he gave us humans.🙏🏾✝️
The way of the holy prophet Muhammad ( salutations of Allah and peace be upon him and his noble family), encouraged people to fast every Monday and Thursday and on the 13,14 and 15 day of lunar months. He also advised people to only eat when they are hungry and only eat less and never overeat. After watching the recent videos and advice from several top doctors to adopt a lifestyle of reduced eating has given all the reasons to follow the Sunnah of the holy prophet. May we all get blessings of adopting his lifestyle and teachings- Ameen Love and peace for all!
@@nazimawan6641 The Prophet Mohammed did not invent fasting and definitely not that way of fasting, which is talked about at this video. Like I said Christianity especially the orthodox did exist long before the Islam and they used to fast very often exactly the way wich modern since is proofing, which leads to healthy way of Life. God bless all people, may Jesus the Lord and savior lead us all to right path. Peace and Love to any human Kind and the whole World. 🙏🏾✝️

I lost 54 pounds from your advice, I am 63, 153 pounds lighter that how I was back in January 2024, have no fatty liver or pre-diabetic! Thank you dr Egberg ❤
I highly recommend going low carb and definitely no sugar before going on a fast. In my experience, it helps me get on the fast so much easier. Also, know that you’re training your body for future fasts. All the best to you.
All the benefits of fasting are well known. The one benefit that is never talked about is the fact that you are disciplining yourself around food. That benefit is great.
It’s a mind shift to discover we’ve been taught that we’re broken and we don’t listen to our intuition. I’m practicing being more natural like deer would. Wild animals don’t over eat. All the sugar and processed foods are so bad for us yet our culture and advertising and big companies present it as a treat. Unfortunately sugar isn’t just in a the Sunday afternoon pie. It’s in almost all/ most all processed foods.
Dr. Ekberg, extended fasting also reverses periodontal disease as well. Over a number of years, my pockets were getting deeper and deeper, my periodontist increasing the frequency of my treatments until they were every three months, costing me boat loads of money. When I conducted my first 14-day fast, I noted my gum health was improving, they being very tight, no redness, an especially no bleeding. A few appointments ago, when my periodontist asked me how things were going since the last treatment, not wanting to bias her, I said, okay, but I would discuss the details after she and her assistant collected the numbers. As they called-out previous numbers and collected the new numbers, it was more than evident that there was a marked improvement, an improvement that left her bewildered. Afterward, she asked, "okay, what have you been doing?" Then I told her that I was extended-fasting to treat my hypertension and found that my gums were improving as well. Apparently, she had never heard of this novel approach.
That is awesome! Just a few tweaks and we have life renewed.❤ I hadn't thought about it from a dental aspect. All the more reason to use the Eulyte . Sweet with no sugar!❤❤❤
I still have to try that…I haven’t gone past fasting for 24 hours. I did it for 4 days. Just eating a meal every 24 hours each of those days. 100 hours…. It seems very long. But I’ll try it one day. You guys are very strong.
I did a 110 hour fast last week for the first time. I felt absolutely amazing. High but stable energy, slept well, very clear headed and no hunger at all. I look forward to my next one. Maybe in 3 months.
@@Mhantrax Looking forward to fasting… wow. It sounds strangely amazing to look forward to not eating…. I still have to get there. Us women, we enjoy food too much it seems. Nature just urges us to eat, gain weight and make babies. When we don’t eat we think and feel like we are dying!
I've been intermittently fasting for 12 years, now - long before it was an internet sensation - and I am the healthiest person I know. I have so much energy and sleep very easily. Now, I cannot say that it is all because of fasting, but I don't know anyone else my age (turning 40) that can say the same. I haven't always been eating healthy, either, but gave my body enough time to heal by fasting almost every day for 12 years.
I did a fast of 30 hours, then one of 50 hours, then 120 hours. An absolute breeze - I felt very little hunger, and I felt calm and well. Break your fast with a egg or two, start re-feeding gently. It is worth it. Drink water, throughout. In summer it is much easier than winter.
I was thinking of doing my 1st 36-72 hr fast this summer when we're in the 100s. I never feel like eating then anyway! I've been doing 16/8 IF for 5 weeks with one day of OMAD. I'm going to try OMAD on Mondays, except next week my yoga and fasting buddy and I are going to do our 1st 36-hr fast!
I'm going to work up to 100 hour fasts - all the benefits will be so helpful for my chronic illnesses. Thank you for your very precise and helpful explanations.
60 hours into a 72 hour fast. Walked 7 miles yesterday at 30 hours in and jogged for 35 minutes at 50 hours in. I’m 70 years old and wondering how age and exercise plays into these fasts. Good health, no meds, male 5’ 10” 150 lbs. Weight loss not needed but hoping for the other benefits.
Sounds like you're doing great! All of us have become accustomed to eating way too much; the body is overloaded. I'm learning that the body does not require food to be stuffed into it on a continual basis. I'm cutting way back and I'm not even terribly overweight; I just want to start cutting back on my eating habits. It's all a habit. Restaurants everywhere; food everywhere. I'm going to cut back on food. Again, it sounds like you're doing great. I'm not a doctor but just keep watching things closely. I'm doing somewhat the same thing; I'm going to fix all of it myself.
Que hayas corrido 35 minutos con 50 horas de ayuno es asombroso. Felicitaciones. Entonces si siento energía en el ayuno y quiero correr no pasará nada malo?
Great video! I did fast for 144 hours last month and I felt incredible ! I understand that I can’t do it often ! But definitely I will do as you said at list 4 times per year! Very helpful video thanks Dc.sten😊
The best part of all this video is having a tea especially green tea when you feel hunger but trying to maintain fasting cycle. Always helps to keep hunger down
I had stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma. While I admit that the immunotherapy got rid of the cancer, I probably lasted the 8 months before I started getting the treatment because of fasting. It wasn't voluntary fasting. I felt so much pain when I ate because it was effecting my pancreas. Basically, I was taking 45 milligrams of morphine just to eat and the constipation was so bad, I sometimes didn't eat. Fat was the worse. Needless to say, I had no visible body fat by the time I was getting treatment. Anyway, I believe fasting helps keep cancer away.
I’ve done 5day fasting months ago, doing it again for detox. It’s been 34hrs since i started.. avoiding the kitchen and dining room, goodluck to others but it’s worth it.

This was the perfect video to share knowledge of fasting benefits with family and colleagues! I have done 35 three day fasts and two 7 day fasts in the past two years! Your videos have been motivation during my toughest times! Thank you!
Today is the 39th day of a 40 fast for me. My body took about four days to clear of all glucose in my system. Usually, by day 7, I get extremely sick. This time, since I've been on a keto diet for six years, there was no sickness. By about day 20, I felt like I could go on without food forever and even came to despise the control food has on me. I have felt just fine. By the 30th day, my ketones started reading 7.6,to 8.0 (just this morning) and three days it just read "HI". By sugar for the last week has set off alarms on my continuous glucose monitor. I silenced the one that signals lower than 70, but at 55, I can't turn off the alarms. My sugar for the last week has been about 50-54. To prevent it from sounding an alarm while I'm sleeping, I force stop the app on my phone before I go to bed. I'm not doing this for weight loss, (though I've lost 35 lbs.) I'm doing it for spiritual reasons. This is the fourth time I've done this in the last 30 years. I'm just doing water, filtered and spring water. I'm feeling great. Coming off the fast, I plan to go carnivore. Of course, breaking the fast will take a few days, just waking up my system. I plan to come off with bone broth, and then egg custard. Eventually, I will introduce meat, maybe starting with some chicken. It's not scary. I started January 2nd, after the holidays, and will come off Feb. 10th. It's an experience I have learned to embrace, because of all the benefits.
@@simondunne5362 Thanks for your interest. This was the fourth time in my life that I've fasted 40 days. I didn't do it for health reasons, but for spiritual ones. I have always planned them starting the day after new years day. That means, beginning January 2 and finishing February 10. I do that because there are rarely events happening in January, and my birthday is February 15th, so I want to be finished and back to eating regularly by then. I started wearing a CGM (Constant Glucose Monitor) just before I began. I wanted to see how my body was reacting to the fast this time. As in other times, I only drank water. We have a whole house filter that removes all chemicals from the water, so that's what i drank. I stopped all supplements and prescription medicine while fasting, since whatever you take during that time is magnified in it's effect on the body. I did take a pinch of salt occasionally to help with electrolytes. The first few days, my body was using up all the glucose in my body, so my blood sugar remained pretty consistent until its depletion. As mentioned above, Usually by days 7 to 10 my body will flush out all toxins. During previous fasts, I would get physically sick. But by day 15, it was not a problem. By the 20th day, I feel like I could go on forever, and by the 25th day, I began to hate the way my body was controlled by food. My blood sugar had gone down to 70's and 60's. At times, I was awakened at night by my phone indicating my sugar was done below 55. I eventually stopped the app before bed so as not to be disturbed. I test my ketones every morning. By the 20th day, my ketones were in the 5's and 5's and by the 40th day, they were consistently in the high 7's to 8, and three times, it just said, "high". Since I had not been eating food, I was extremely cold. I wore thermal underwear to bed and wore heavy sweaters during the day. By the end, I had lost 30 lbs. Following the fast, I had chosen to go carnivore, which is meat and meat products. To break the fast, the first day I had some bone broth from the freezer. By noon, I added an egg to equal parts of bone broth and steamed it for egg pudding. I repeated that for dinner. The next day, I had scrambled eggs, adding a little more solid food each day. By the evening of the third day, my wife and I went out for a date night, and I ordered a steak. It was wonderful. My stool took several days to regulate. But if you consider, you are awakening your system, you just have to exercise patience. I could probably tell you more, but that's the important stuff.
So grateful you took all that time to give me the most amazing response. I'm teaching the powers of fasting with regards to mental health. I firmly believe that a lot of mental health issues is from dysfunctional gut health inflammation and digestion issues which then cause inflammation in the brain. So your experiences will help others and I wish you perfect optimal health and happiness. Thank you.

I did my first extended fast last week, 86 hours. I only stopped because I am a bit lean/underweight and didn't have enough fat to keep going. I plan to gain healthy mass and do 100 hours in a few months. My biggest takeaway is that all my unhealthy food/carb cravings vanished on the morning of the 3rd day, and my entire craving structure changed. I no longer veiw sugar and carbs as primary food and my energy levels skyrocketed to heights I didn't believe were possible. I feel great, and everything I eat tastes better, and I sleep better. Thanks for everything!
*I went 6 days, straight. That is 144 hours. Your stomach bile passes with water through your backside. It is sticky. It sucks. You can't hold it either. So, you run to the bathroom 6+ times a day. You cleanse your system out. But you also have energy surges. A massive plummet of energy, then a massive burst of energy. Non-stop.*
Surely you went too long. I started slowly. 12 hours daily for one week. 16 hours there after. Results for me were excellent. Now back to 12 hours but truth is I do not really need to do any now.
Sounds stress inducing? I would be afraid of adverse effects of cortisol on your body if that is how you reacted. Maybe a more gradual approach in your case? Everyone is different and we need to read our bodies.
That must be the most comprehensive, informative and detailed video on fasting I've ever seen on fasting. Thank you so much for sharing all thisresearch! You have a new subscriber. 🙏💕
I've been doing this for 3 years. I water fast 2 to 3 times per year for 72 hours, and I regularly practice OMAD during the week, taking a break on weekends by eating healthy 2 or 3 times a day. It has yielded surprising results for me-I've gone from 220 to 167 pounds. I've also been weightlifting, which has helped me burn fat while gaining muscle mass. Those who claim you cannot make gains while following the OMAD diet are mistaken. While you may not gain as much muscle as with bulking, I prefer to build lean muscle mass and maintain a lean body rather than becoming bulky.
I have been carnivore /low carb and intermittent fasting and can see results. I will try to do longer fasts. I wish my late husband and I had found this WOE years ago. He might still be here.

Now for the 1st time I'm into a 72 hour fasting, started on Thursday evening and I'm now into my 34th hour. No hungry feelings or thoughts. Let's see how the coming hours will bring. These videos are very helpful and give good information, thank you for that!
I just finished a 7 day consecutive prolonged fast and wow I HIGHLY encourage everyone do this at least once a month. I slept better, had more energy in the morning, more mental clarity, sure I was physically weaker, but the pros outweigh the cons. But the best thing I obtained from doing a 7 day fast was that my STOMACH (the organ, not just my torso) shrunk! I broke my fast having a single bowl of chicken and rice soup, followed by a rotisserie chicken leg. And I was full instantly with no desire to binge on anything else. Cravings were completely destroyed and I lost 8 pounds during the fast. The food industry is LYING to you. They tell you you need to eat three meals a day. And honestly, you should only eat three meals a day if you haven’t finished puberty and if you are severely thin waist, thigh, neck and chest circumference, but if you are an average to obese weight, you should really be eating 1 every other day or 1 day within an hour AT MOST.
@Ms.AnatomyGeek i would be careful as it can bring issues. If you have good reason to do it like an illness or big weight problem, you are better to look up mindy pelz who will teach you how to do intermittent fasting appropriate to you age and cycle. Start fasting always wuth learnibg to do the shorter fasting periods first like 14 hrs, 18hrs, up to 24 etc. At your age doing it wrong can stop periods, mess up hormones , alsorts, but you used right it will get your health on track. Started a 100 hour fast lastnight night at 8 p.m. 10 hours down, 90 to go! I am fasting for health and for weight loss. I will check back in in 90 hours and relay how am did and how I feel!
My family has known that fasting is good for body and soul for decades. I remember my uncle fasting and praying for days at a time! He would be in his office, and we were not to interrupt, except when he would come out for water or coffee. He was super healthy and happy until his death in his 90s. May God richly bless you and your family ~
I'm literally just about to make it 100 hours. 4AM CDST tomorrow morning, I'll hit 100 hours and will get up, eat eggs, and meat. Later in the day, some cheese. I started both at 12:15AM on May 1st, I started my fast and at 8:30, I started walking again. I feel sure I actually made a couple of weeks straight of this back around 1989, but that's so long ago, that I can't recall. It's a whole lot harder when you don't have a handy distraction. I can't tell that I've lost any weight or fat, but as far as walking goes, I'm not even quitting.
@drekberg , could you please create an in-depth video about breaking a prolonged fast? I believe it merits as much attention as the fasting period itself, due to the potential benefits of protein and fat intake when levels of HGH and other hormones are elevated towards the end of the fast. This contrasts with the intake of high glucose/fructose, which can result in a significant insulin spike and drastic changes in electrolyte balance, potentially leading to issues with the kidneys and heart.
I am a 63 year old woman and wish I had learned what you are teaching years ago! I found your content about a week ago and as I watched the lightbulb came on because I feel chronically fatigued. In fact, I went to my doctor last year and they did a complete work up and according to him I was healthy with nothing abnormal, just needed to lose weight. I started the low carbohydrate high fat diet as you recommend that very same day, and I am amazed at how much better I feel already! Thank you so much!
(losing weight) "I knew you didn't want that to happen ... oh, well." 🤣🤣🤣 His dry sense of humor kills me! SO much better than my college nutrition class. 👍
7 day fasts every 6 months has greatly assisted my workouts and fat content. Oct of 2022 i was 245 with a 33% Body fat. Im now 210 with a 9.6% body fat. I feel better. I look better. Not only fasting but ive trained my body to crave healthy stuff. When i get a sweet tooth i eat a large amount of protein so my body now equates protein with satisfaction of cravings.
I’m 62 and I just finished a 48 hour fast. I could have easily gone another 24 hours as my hunger pains had vanished halfway through. We had relatives coming to visit and that’s the only reason I didn’t extend it. I love the benefits of fasting, although I do feel weird for a day or so after I resume eating. I do this about once a month, but I practice 24 hour fasting (one meal a day) most of the time. I love the way it helps me maintain my weight.
Going for 100 hours right now, longest i've ever gone is 69.5 hours. Day 1.5-2.5 is the hardest but once you make it to day 3 its quite easy, been doing if for around 1.5 years now and done multiple 24, 36 and around 5 or so 48 hours in that year or so time frame. I never get hungry anymore and usually on a fast only feel my stomach begin to grumble around 28-32 hours in, so my body is definitely mastering utilizing ketones as an energy source. I have under 50 grams of carbs each day too, i eat purely carnivore, with fruit 1-2 times a week for added nutrients and minerals etc, and to introduce carbs into my body as a re-feed. I'm lean af and healthy af, around 9-11% bf, 179 cm tall and 73 kg. Doing this longer fast i hope to have a total clean-out of my system, and the stem cell growth too which is crazy.
Dr Ekberg thank you for creating and making available the content on your channel. I have learned a great deal from watching your videos and have made changes to my eating habits, especially switching to low carb, high fat diet and starting intermittent fasting. The results have been unbelievably good. My metabolic health has improved significantly. In my mid-forties now and I have never felt better. Thank you very much. Keep up the good work Mr Ekberg.

Dr. Ekberg please don’t change what you’re saying regarding fasting! It’s imperative that people know the benefits of fasting. I know the body positive renegades have been trying to target anyone that is giving information about fasting and raw foods lifestyles. Do not be swayed please. I have experienced the true benefits of fasting.
Thank you @afterdark6822 for sharing your great results and helping inspire others. That is so awesome. I am thrilled that you have seen such great results. Keep it up! 😄
I fasted for two days…I break my fast at 11pm with spring mix salads and nuts no carbs. I got weight, stomach flatter now and I feel I don’t need the gym to loose stomach fat! Feel so good!!
Thanks for the fasting video Dr. Ekberg. I'm doing a 46 hour fast...feel great! I'm a little scared to go longer than 72 hours because I don't know enough about refeeding syndrome. Hope you have a Happy Friday!
Thank you @angelfriend3710. Congratulations. Just do it and learn. You can always increase a little another time. 72 will basically give you all the benefits mentioned in the video. 😄
Go longer, I'm at 218 hours and plan on longer, for re-feeding, I am actually going to do at least half the time I fasted after with just bone broth then slowly add in like eggs for a meal and so on.
You are a great educator. I’m going for 40 days, I’m on hour 36, felling great. I am drinking hot water and with a pad of butter. I’m felling great and I’m not experiencing cravings or hunger pains.
The only doctor I truly trust. I bought two euLyte. The electrolytes are excellent. It was somewhat difficult to collect at Thai customs. I'm not sure if you'd like a distributor to sell the products in Thailand. I would be excited to make a contribution for the Thai people.
Hi Dr. Ekberg! I'm wondering if you can do a video about what happens to body when you donate blood during fasting? (If there are benefits or disadvantages of it?) I've been doing OMAD (5x a week for more than a year (not strict), but I'm used to it. The other day, I came to pass by a blood donation drive, when I was about 23 hours in fasting, and did weights workout in lunchtime. I did it without feeling lightheaded or anything. I'm just wondering though if there is an effect to the body when doing it while fasting. Love all your videos! PS: Also, does it bring benefits to the donee, like the autophagy? I'm curious.
Thank you @jdp5974. Interesting question. I'm just shooting from the hip here. I think a healthy body can adapt to a whole lot more than we think. I don't think it's a big deal to donate blood whether you are fasting or not. You do give away some resources though, which is why they don't let you do it very often. It's possible that by giving away some blood protein, you increase the autophagy effect. I don't see how the donee would receive any additional benefit, since the benefits are due to limited resources in the person who is not eating. It is an adaptation response. Even if there are some compounds in the blood to be transferred, I don't think there is enough of them to create significant benefit. 😄
@@drekberg ohhhh thank you so much for your insight dr. Ekberg! I appreciate it! Keep up your excellent work in educating a lot of people for a healthier living! 🤩
Hello Dr. Sten Ekberg - First of all I would like to compliment you on the site and the good and accurate films that are told in a simple way that everyone can understand - I learned a lot from you. - I have a small comment - people are frightened by the word fast, because they interpret it as not eating and not drinking - we should call it a water fast, say that when we say fast, in short, we mean a water fast - and right at the beginning explain that in a water fast we only do not eat and it is permissible to drink water when you want - it's very relaxing. Thanks again for all you do. Uri

The symptoms of my low electrolytes included the usual; headaches, fatigue, nausea, loud rapid heart beat and tingling of the finger tips. It took me about 3 days to reverse these symptoms by taking your electrolyte powder. Looking forward to new flavors. Thanks

A useful experience to share- Thanks

저도 그렇습니다^^
I feel free

Amazing!
What did you eliminate from your diet that was causing the histamine reactions
Another man mentioned the same thing on the ‘Healthy Alternative’ YT channel. He lost over 100+ lbs and still going and cured his allergies through water fasting. No more pills to take for him.
@@jactac838 Sorry, just saw this today. You can do a search on "high histamine food" to answer your question; it's extensive. Beef is especially high because it's all aged at the butcher before it's sold and that allows the histaDine to break down to histaMine and become a big problem for the histamine intolerant folk. But lots of spices, vegetables, and fruit have histamine, too.
I guess you do weight training for the muscle tone?
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am a 50 year old woman in perimenopause and intermittent fasting has changed my life! I do periodic 48 hour fasts with no problem..and now I would like to try longer. I don’t do long fasting a week before my cycle and add a few healthy carbs to help with progesterone and my oh my! What a difference. I still have 15 pounds to go to my goal weight if where I was in my 20’s and 30’s. I’ve had 3 children (my last at 41 years of age) and I NEVER thought I could combat belly fat and insulin resistance.

@@Dgyhjigtjm
Yes. You should quit your job. 🤦♂️

My four day fast brought my blood sugar down to 63. I didn't tell my doctor the day of the checkup. When the results came in, he told me my blood sugar was low and not to fast. He didn't know I went into the checkup on a 4 day fast.
Is that good or bad? He saying it was low as in concerning?
@@foreverealmmakes sense, thanks for the reply
@@osmosisdaily Ooh, I took it down as I am not a doctor and never want to misinform anyone… but thanks, I’m glad you read it. I guess it won’t hurt to mention the key part: 63 is Low! 80-90 is normal. But if your blood sugar is 63 after 4 days of fasting and it is stabilized there, that would make sense. But if you are eating normally, NOT fasting, and the bloodsugar is that low? You don’t want to do anything that could drop it even lower.
Did you then tell him?
The low blood sugar is IRRELEVANT if you're fat adapted. You are burning alternative fuel
Here is a summary of the key points from the video:
- Fasting for 100 hours can have many health benefits like weight loss, reduced inflammation, improved mental clarity, lowered insulin resistance, and possibly reversed type 2 diabetes.
You the 🐐

Now, I cannot say that it is all because of fasting, but I don't know anyone else my age (turning 40) that can say the same. I haven't always been eating healthy, either, but gave my body enough time to heal by fasting almost every day for 12 years.
A twelve year fast.....that is truly amazing! 🤣
@@Spork123able I didn't fast for 12 years, I intermittently fasted for 12 years.

Right on. Just more testimony to keep me going. Happy for you.

Yes. Summer I found is easier too
I was thinking of doing my 1st 36-72 hr fast this summer when we're in the 100s. I never feel like eating then anyway! I've been doing 16/8 IF for 5 weeks with one day of OMAD. I'm going to try OMAD on Mondays, except next week my yoga and fasting buddy and I are going to do our 1st 36-hr fast!
I do a 7-day water only fast every January to reduce my risk of disease. By day 4 I have no hunger whatsoever and feel great in every way.
Thanks to Dr.Ekberg I'm down 45+lbs in 5 months. I OMAD M-F,and 2mad on weekends. His knowledge is truly life-saving. Thank you Dr.Ekberg

Wow, would love to hear your experiences in full detail.
Thank you.
@@simondunne5362 You're so welcome. Praying you will find great health and stamina through fasting.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience as I am a diabetic and also want to do it for spiritual reasons.

I have over weight ,a lot of fat in my abdomen area .You take electrolytes ? What are those exactly?
Sodium, magnesium, potassium, calcium. These are essential and help the fasting process by keeping your energy levels up.

Non-stop.*
Sounds amazing....
Doesn t the energy regulate to a somewhat stable level without that many ups and downs?
Another quite good doctor that I follow didn t suggest to go above 40 hours in one fast if you do keto
I am at day 16 of my fasting period of 40 days. So far I am very well and can recommend fasting.

68 hours in, 4 to go to make 72 for the first time!!! Reversed type 2 over 4 months, 2.5 day fasting every 2 weeks, thx Sten!

Hi Dr.
I'm 72 hours into a 120 hour water fast. I do it every month. I love it, love how I sleep solid and wake up fast!
Do 1 year
Excellent explanation!
Thanks Dr.

Uri

I have been watching for a long time. You have helped my on journey trying to reverse pre-diabetes. With your help, I am doing well. Keep on making videos as they are very helpful.
The symptoms of my low electrolytes included the usual; headaches, fatigue, nausea, loud rapid heart beat and tingling of the finger tips.
It took me about 3 days to reverse these symptoms by taking your electrolyte powder.
Looking forward to new flavors.
Thanks
Take pink Himalayan salt or Celtic salt with water to replace your minerals. The salt brings the water into your cells and will keep you hydrated.
