      I love these eufy cameras! My front one is still going strong on the original charge with 44% battery life remaining. My backyard got to 3% after 101 days but that's because I have three dogs that go outside 6-8x per day and they were creating erroneous recordings.

    Loving the info good video. To be honest I purchased the Eufy doorbell last week, and I’ve made the decision to return it. Reason being the detection is horrible, there’s been a few time I’ve gone outside and purposely walk directly in front of the camera I get any notifications. The only way it worked for if I turned it from human detection to all detection. I’ve also have the Eufy 2k flood light, I haven’t that camera yet because I’m a lil reluctant based on my bad experience with the doorbell. I do love the picture quality though that’s the one thing I can honest give 2 thumbs up to Eufy, but they have to fix there detection software it’s really bad well at least for it was.

    Can you use one Homebase to connect to your doorbell and cam together? Are those homebases are same or just different?

    • @techbets102
      @techbets102  2 года назад +2

      So, this one's a bit weird. For some reason, Eufy's camera offerings have been fragmented a bit. My Eufy 2K pan and tilts do NOT connect to the homebase. They feed directly into the app and use microSD/Cloud/RTSP for recording. My doorbell and outdoor cameras ONLY connect to the homebase and then feed into the app. I'm not sure why they've done it this way.

    I currently have Ring, and i'm debating on replacing them because of several reasons. #1. Quality: can't read license plates. I need 1440p minimum.
    My issue with WiFi cams is powering them...the Ring Solar panel from what I've read doesn't seem to charge the wireless battery camera overnight (of course) and it dies after a couple of days because it can't keep up the charge to 100%.
    I'm searching for a 1440 camera that i can attach to the mail box because we have had mail thieves here the last couple years. I don't want to have to constantly recharge batteries though. Any insight? or suggestions?

    • @techbets102
      @techbets102  2 года назад

      In my experience, my Ring solar panel worked fairly well. It's certainly not an end-all and won't do you much good if your mailbox is covered under a porch or something similar. If you're just looking to capture your mailbox, most battery-powered external cameras should do the trick. Just narrow your activation zone for motion to just the mailbox and area approaching it. That way, you can avoid recording/sending erroneous motion alerts for auxiliary things. I'm hoping the Eufy cams noted in this video truly do have 365 day batteries but time will tell. Whether they do or don't, charging them will be much easier as I only have to climb a ladder and grab them off of their magnetic mount. No fidgeting with brackets, battery covers, etc.

      @@techbets102 the battery life of my eufy cameras is dependent on the amount of triggers they get and the amount you look I look at the footage.
      We have many neighborhood, cats, dogs, raccoons, and possums roaming at night triggering the cams. We installed solar panels to all except our doorbell, that will happen soon. We have had to charge a couple of cameras due to constantly gray skies and camera locations but that's not a big deal. Our door camera can be wired in but because of our porch shape we opted to place the camera for different viewing. Works great but for a solar panel to be installed husband has to do a work around and build a different platform but at our Temps it's too cold to worry about it right now.
      Our cameras simply screw off their mounts if needed. The solar panels keep the cameras charged pretty good even with mostly gray skies. We did not want to deal with having to take down and charge nine cameras, especially since we have a dvr with eight full time wired cameras.
      One thing we did have to account for is birds. They love attacking the lights. Husband eliminated places the birds could cling to, ie. branches. Another thing, we recently had to take a two hundred mile trip and had no trouble viewing the cameras, both live and recorded.
      Oh and for better battery life watch the settings for your cameras. Some settings deplete batteries faster.

      @@techbets102 forgot there is one more thing. We live where Temps have at night 35f to 25f. There is almost always air movement at night. The wired and wireless pick up moisture. Some nights it is so bad that it looks like a snow blizzard is happening. We really cannot see anything till our motion solar lights are triggered. Still I love these cameras. We started getting them to protect a work van from theft and kept adding. Will next be adding four more wired and a pan-zoom one or two.
      Another thing is the eufy picks up license plates well and the alarm setup is great.

      @@marypettit5523 I'm a bit more than two months into mine and my driveway camera- which gets a ton of triggers from vehicles is at 76%. My backyard camera is at 44% because I have 3 dogs that go out back and run around to potty multiple times per day. I'm still super elated with these cams given how good the cameras are but I think I may look into the solar panel solution as well!

    • @marypettit5523
      @marypettit5523 2 года назад

      @@techbets102 we started with 2 eufy cameras with a base last spring adding more as we discovered what more we wanted viewing of. At first it was to protect a work van. These vans are used for oncall work for emergency lockouts and have to be available to the oncall locksmith. One van was robbed.
      So there are a couple of things you can do to lessen daytime triggers. For the dog area look to see if the camera you have has the privacy zone in the cameras settings. Figure out where your camera is being triggered by the dogs and block those areas from being seen if possible. You can also go to motion and lessen the sensitivity of the camera and set detection to human only. This last is not perfect but helps. Note that human is only daytime, my cameras are all motion at night.
      Look through security settings and see if there are adjustments you will be happy with. Remember that you can always change things back. I have experimented a lot. Eufy has some nice tutorials to help.
      Oh and each of my cams can be snozzed for the day or even turned off. Just remember to turn them back on. So many functions to checked. I have not played with all.

    Few questions :
    what's the real battery life on this cameras without huge solar panel installation. Ring or eufy has longer life and how long on avarage days.
    Videos are stored on that white box? can you download directly to the phone footage or you need cable to download it from that box. Can you access past videos when you not at home or is it only available when u connected to hone wifi network

    • @techbets102
      @techbets102  2 года назад

      1. From my experience, it definitely seems like the Eufy cameras last much longer. They were originally built to operate standalone without a solar panel (though you can now add one) while the Rings seem to be built with the intent of using a solar panel so the eufy's were built to be more power efficient.
      2. Videos are stored on the white box inside your home. They can be downloaded to your phone and storage can be added via a USB drive to the back of the white box.
      3. You can access past videos remotely!

    I can't find myself in your findings. The compression I see in your ring footage is dramatic and not representative for the many ring cameras I got. I even solved a burglary with authorities through ring image quality. Even the detection speed is seconds and reviewing and bringing up footage is only seconsds as well, where I see you struggle to bring them up. Your bandwith and speed is very fast where I only got a 10th of it. But even then it worked all fine. So it probably depends on many factors. I will take a better look into Eufo expacially when there have 4K now. Thanks for you review.

    My Ring doorbell camera sits farther then my Eufy 2 pro but the Eufy won’t even pick up if someone turn around in my drive way, but my ring doorbell will capture a car 50 yards away 🤦🏽‍♂️
    I added the solar to my mom and girlfriend camera. I have mines actually plugged into an outlet I installed on all four corners of my house.
