I have Eufy E340 and Eufy S340 (2 of Each). I replaced some PTZ cameras from several years ago that had blistered in the sunlight under high temperatures. The video that you have presented is excellent. Eventually, I intend to get the hard drive station to record with a hard drive and connect to my router. I agree that you explained the two cameras' characteristics, advantages, and similarities. The installation process was straightforward; comparatively, too many items that I have purchased in the past sometimes don’t have clear instructions. The application that goes with the program is marvelous and very easy to work with. I installed these cameras about 30 days ago and saw this video on RUclips. You did a great job, and I wish you the best in explaining some of these items to homeowners and families concerned about the day-to-day observations needed in almost any neighborhood. Well presented. Good luck. (I used Grammarly AI to clean up the writing - a Berkeley Haas tool)
Thanks for the great video! Couple questions. Have you run them both with and without the homebase? I’ve been reading some people say the cameras seem to perform better without it. Also on the wired version running continuously, if you want to see a delivery that was made do you have to scroll through lots of footage or do you get a separate detection notification. Thanks
Good review, ive had mine up since the release day and its great having 24/7 footage but ive had to turn notifications off because you cant select notifications for humsns only, the app is broken and every time you close the app it activates notifications for all types again such as animals, cars and all motion, also the AI on the homebase 3 is terrible too, it thinks a bicycle, a slide and a huge gazebo roof are all humans plus many random other objects it decides is human on a windy day when things moves a little. Its a pain in the butt
Very detailed review sir thank you. I think this black Friday Im getting the S340. Question, if the home base memory is full does it just delete the very first recording?or you have the option to delete them yourself. 2nd question is did you use a wifi extender? Thanks alot.😊
Thanks for the great video! I have the E340 and S340 sitting in the box and yet to install on my driveway and backyard - Your videos are to the point and very informative! Would you recommend installing them high enough so it doesnt get stolen? These cameras are so fancy and I am afraid they may get stolen :) Also, what is the ladder you used in your video? I recently bought our first home and I have no ladder - Thanks for your help!
Great video and I was torn between these two cameras. I eventually decided on the S340 - but I'm curious what you think of the spotlight on this unit - is it bright enough to light up the area in front of a house?
Thanks for the review. The folks at Eufy tell me that the E340 has the Patrol feature but the S340 does not. In your replies to comments you say that they both have Patrol. I'll be mounting the camera on the corner of my house (270 degrees) so the patrol feature is a must. Does the S340 have Patrol?
Your follower from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, use the translation program. Your explanation is really wonderful. I loved this camera through your beautiful explanation.
Thanks for your excellent review. Is there any difference in the time that notifications arrive when connected to the home base or to wifi? How high have you installed the solar camera? Is it higher than Eufy recommends?
Another great review & comparison on these Eufy cameras. My question for you probably pertains to both units, because they are so similar, but I'll direct my question to the S340. You stated that it takes roughly 7-10 seconds for the alert to come to your phone once the camera detects motion. I can live with that delay. My question for you, is how long after you receive the alert before you can actually watch the video? I have (or had) 2 S40 cameras that worked pretty well for the 1st 6 months or so, but then the length of time between my phone alert & being able to see video went from about 5 or 6 seconds to 30 seconds or more & actually would time out and quite often not give any video. The video for both cameras would just sit & buffer. A month ago one of the units must have gotten moisture in it or something & quit working. It got a huge brown spot in the lens and dim light shines behind the lens cover. I need to replace it and am thinking about either a new S340 or an S230 to replace the bad S40. From what I've read the S230 is just a model # change of the old S40 & I can't find much info on it. I need to make an informed decision as to whether stepping up to the S340 will let me see video of whomever is at the front of my home before they actually leave or die of old age...
I've got mine higher, around 12ft. It still doesn't have an issue with facial recognition that I've noticed but ideally you'd want the angle a little lower to get a better shot at peoples faces walking up.
From what I have found out...Yes. the included solar panel uses a port for charging the batteries. The S340 comes with a short weatherproof adapter cord, that let's you plug any USB-C cell phone charger into.
Now worry part is that, bad guys are using wireless jamming for all these type of cameras. Does these camera have optional hardwired network cable connection?
Thanks again for the great comparison. Just found your channel few days ago. What’s your recommendation on using a mesh system vs a router for outdoor battery cameras? I’m trying out a new router that I was recommended but signal seems spotty.
Thank you for such a great, useful video. Tried to activate three wireless Arlo Pro 3 wireless camera's and a doorbell into their app - it never found the camera's, the doorbell kept going offline. I've seen a few Arlo vs. Eufy video's and ready to go Team Eufy. Just need to pick the products. Your video on the uses, features, and differences of these camera's was so understandable. I appreciate you, DIYdad!

I reveiced these from Eufy to test (hence the paid promotion stamp on the video). I do my best to give honest reviews and point out the pros and cons. I used these two becuase I wanted cameras that tracked, the solar one on the front of my house was used where it is becuase I don't otherwise have any power where I installed it. With it's location I still havn't dipped below I full charge. The other one took the place of a standard light so I already had power in place .
Hi Great video, can you tell me if the E340 records 24/7, in other words works non stop and if you want to look back say 3 hrs ago you can? or does it need to trigger the motion detection to record, hope this makes sense.
Yes it does, I have two of them. I have the cloud back up but for 24/7 recording you do have to have a micro sd card in for local storage for 24/7 recording but then all those recordings go to the cloud for 30 days after the fact.
❤ I truly appreciate the way you lay out your videos with primary features & benefits / pros & cons. In the mfg literature & specks it is not clear as to the E340 on & off of the features of the lights. Can the lights be set to on & off at motion only? Automatically at dusk to dawn or can they be set to on & off at will any time? Also with the E340 mounting it under the soffit. I have 6” gutters that drop 3” below the horizontal plane of the soffit. Will there be enough clearance? The existing floodlight junction box is only 1” deep. Most of the details shown in the mfg lit shows wall mount straight forward instructions, but very little details on soffit or ceiling mounting. Mounting the E340 to the soffit will require rerouting the wiring through the top of the camera body. Will the E340 accommodate a soffit mount and will there be a clearance issue with the 3” overhanging of my gutters? Regarding the S340 is there a recommendation for separate gutter mounting brackets to the gutters for cameras, solar panels separately and as one unit. Thanks again for your channel,
I have a question, I bought the E340 & when the sensor picks something up, the flood light blinks on & off for 10 seconds then stay on for the amount I had set it to. How do I turn off the blinking part? BTW awesome video review!
Good presentation! Can you please advise: (1) if the video recording is saved and if so, for how much period? Saved on our local mobile phone or some cloud website? (2) Also if its not solar powered one, then is the source of power, battery-operated or electric supply? (3) If battery-operated how long does the battery last? and how easy it is to recharge the battery (assuming its rechargeable battery).? (4) If its electric, does it needs drilling holes in the home walls to connect the camera wires to the power supply source within the home?
If you are using these without the base the video is stored until the memory card onboard is full, so it will depend on how large the card is in the camera. If you are using the base it will record until the base is fill (I have a year + of footage on my base). In both cases it will loop record, deleting the oldest footage to record new footage. On the non-solar one, there is no battery, it needs to be hard wired and is designed to be mounted to a junction box so you would need a J-box to install it to. If you don't already have power in the location and don't want to modify your house I'd go with the solar unit. Even if there isn't direct sun light, you can remote mount the panel or take it down to charge it via USB.
Thank you so much for the detailed review, this is very helpful. I have another question and I hope you can help me with your feedback. I am planning to installing the wired variant at my place, however internet is a little spotty at time and the camera might loose the internet connect for some time (2-3 times a week). Does the camera save the clips to the micro SD card when the internet is gone and when it is back online, save that clip on the base? Can you please share your experience on this. Thank you!
I’m thinking s340 plus the newer base station 9:24 and also either above or below the camera that adding a separate motion solar light as running power out would be to cumbersome and expensive. I plan on getting these soon.
Thank you for the informative video, I need one thing to clarify, If I purchase the Eufy S340 (Solar) and connect it to the home base, will it record 24-hour footage in the home base or only when there is motion?
As for the light on the solar model if you don't have access to electrical and/or don't want to fiddle with adding it and you don't mind the looks you could get a solar floodlight of your choosing and mount it by it/where need be.
Thanks for the informative video. Do you know if Eufy fixed the issue where if you hold the sync button to reset the cameras that it tends up not only removing the camera from your network but also deleting the footage that was recorded with that camera?
Great review, thank you. I did not see anything in the comments or a mention in the video - will these work with the new 5GHz Routers? I have the Verizon Cube, I could not connect my Arlo base stations to it according to Arlo support because it wouldn’t connect to the 5G Wi-Fi. Thanks in advance.
Thanks, lots of good info, just received my S340 and the collar around the lens was loose, don’t think this is normal, called eufy and they are sending me another unit.
@10:11 you say let's look at what kind of footage they capture in the dark and don't show footage LOL! Was curious about how the solar one looks at night...
Hi very informative video many thanks for that. I bought the E340 recently to replace my nest camera and standalone drive light on PIR. Question is if the Eufy works well, I would consider changing my doorbell camera from blink to Eufy, can they share a Homebase?
Great video! Just got the wired E340 but I’m noticing it rarely detects anything at night including passing vehicles. However daytime detection is great. Any suggestions? I’ve already set detection to the highest, reset it removed and added it back to app etc. is it time I call Eufy?
@@DoItYourselfDad I have it a little over 8 feet high onto my wall above my garage. Passing vehicles are about 18 feet away as there’s no sidewalk. The strange thing is I installed my S340 I have in my backyard in the same area to see if it has nighttime detection problems but it detects every single passing vehicle. I emailed Eufy support over a week ago telling them my findings and have yet to hear back.
@@guitarhero9592 Im not familiar with where exactly the PIR sensors are on the E340, is it possible to adjust them? Maybe they are detecting movement to the sides and not directly out in front of the camera. Seems counterintuitive, like it would make sense to have the camera pointed directly in front of what youre trying to watch, but I know with the S340 eufy actually recommends you not point the camera straight at the area you expect to get detection traffic, its preferred to mount it off to the side.
Hi I've just bought 2 of the electric cameras and got electrician coming to hard wire both so just quick question does the cameras get plugged into sockets ?
Can the light be disabled for the S340/solar camera? If I wanted it to be hidden and stealth? My wife is home alone in our cabin deep in the woods at night while I'm at work. I just need something that notifies my phone if someone is approaching the house. No wiring option, so the S340 seems like the first camera to get if I wanted to add more and a base station in the future. I'm hoping our satellite internet will be enough to keep it running. Thanks!
Yes, the light can be disabled and you can set the camera up to just run with night vision instead. If connectivity is an issue I am currently playing around with one of their cameras that connects via WIFI but can also use cellular data as well.
*QUESTIONS* 1: How far from the router can the SoloCam S340 connect? Since it is wireless, I'm thinking of putting one way out in the back yard. Does Eufy give any specifications about WiFi range? 2: Can the E340 lights be set to turn on and off at specific times? 3: Can the E340 be set to have a low brightness when it's on, then turn on bright when motion is sensed?
I’ve noticed I’ve had about 75-100ft of range with these cameras, but it will also depend on walls, interference etc. I’ve noticed better range when connected to the hub. You can setup a light schedule for the light, I currently have mine to be on low from dusk to dawn and get brighter if it senses motion.
Get yourself a mesh network, if you haven’t already. Easily spans 1/2 acre lot. If your lot is bigger, you may need to add another access point but mesh is the way to go.
You could try a long range access point like the ones Unifi make (LR MODEL) I’m sure there are other options, but these are quite affordable and should cover an average garden.
If you have a homebase 3 it will record without sd card but motion based recording only, you need to install a 2.5 inch hard drive to get 24/7 recording
Can you just remove an outdoor light fixture and replace it with an Eufy E340? I can picture what a junction box is, and I don't have one for a spotlight - so, would a light fixture location be the same? Thanks for your video! I already see that both of these models would be useful for my security setup.
OK You asked for questions, here I go. I have both these cameras and several S330 as well as a couple others. How do I get this on my desktop computer? Can I use an external HD with the S380 (there are 2 USB ports on the S380) as well as the internal hard drive? Is there a way to se either a computer or a notepad to use a say an entry way monitor and not have it access the other cameras? I have not set up the S380 yet as I am waiting for the SSD HD, but does the AI recognition stuff only work from the homebase or is it usable from the cameras alone? I thought I read that their AI was on board and not dependent upon the Homebase. Thank you in advance.
You can get them on a desktop, sort of, and not well. Burried in the app is "web portal access", which got me very excited, however it's slow, buggy, and only allows you to view one camera at a time. I haven't tried using the USB ports for storage, I always assumed those were there to charge the cameras, but I may try plugging something into it so just see what happens. You can share your camera feed with other people, they have to have their own eufy account and then, they can view them on their devices. You can share management, or just single devices. We used this with neighbors that are looking over the house (a few of us have the same systems). As far as the AI is concerned, Im honestly not 100% sure, my understanding was that some AI is built into the cameras, but there are additional features in the base, but I could be wrong on that.
I have 5 eufy 2C pro cameras with Homebase 2. I find the delay from detection to alert a problem. By the time I get an alert that someone or something is in the driveway, they are already at the door. I was looking at the E340 in hopes of shortening that delay. But it doesn’t look like that will do it based on your video. Also the E340 is not compatible with the Homebase 2 if I want Homebase functionality. I could go with either wired or solar setup. Doesn’t seem like it’s worth the camera plus base 3 even with the AI. Agree?
Hi, you showed how long it took for the alert message to get to your phone, but when did the camera start recording as surely that is what matters most? Thanks
Can you do a review of the video output? I.e download a a clip from both cameras. (With sn SD card in the e330) I have a suspicion the Sola one streams to the Homebase while the E330 records to local storage and sends to the Homebase. Hope that makes sense
Do the new hardwire models have out of range detection, the older floodlight camera if the camera was looking in one direction in a default position and the motion sensor saw motion 180 degrees in the other direction it would spin and follow the movement. These appear to just have a sensor on the lens side which would mean they might not have that feature which is a selling point on the old version.
Few question on the e340 flood light one. #1 I'm assuming you gotta keep the light switch in your house on at all times to get power right? #2 adding to #1 the lights are only turned on by the app or by motion? #3 can you move the cameras manually in the app. "PTZ' when you wanna look around? #4 in the app are you able to presets where the camera starts out facing and where it'll return after it records something. Or does it anyways face straight forward. (Ex: I want to have the camera face all the way to the right for it's detection area not straight forward, and then will it return facing all the way to the right after its done).
Yes, you do need to leave the switch on. You can turn the lights on and off though the app and also set it up with motion detection. I have mine set to be on dim after sundown and then go bright when it detects motion. When you setup the camera you can setup what it’s “home point” is, and it will return to whatever that point is after panning and following someone. I hope that answers all of your questions.
6:35 Have you tried to mess around with the settings? I don't have these cameras but I have the 4 EUFY cam 2pros and home kit and remember my notification was delayed until I went on the app and adjusted the "Notification" tap to most efficient "Get notification without delay only text included." I don't know if that's a feature on these cameras tho so that's why I ask.
Yes, it does. They do have remote mounting kits if you need to mount the solar panel in a different direction or in a different area to get direct sunlight though.
Looking for a solar powered camera and live in an older home too, but i worry about wifi signal having a tough time getting through the walls to the camera
Do you think i should replace my light on the front of my house with this and use this as a light/camera, I'm really considering the wired for that reason it continues recording and powered flood light
That’s exactly what I’m using the side yard one for, the ability to change color, temperature and color intensity of the light has been really nice as an ambient light in the side yard.
How do these PTZ cams detect people of they are walking to the side of where the cameras are currently pointing, so if the person is out of the main and zoomed cameras field of vision, do they have some kind of 360 degree's PIR sensing ? Sorry this may seem like a totally dumb question, but I am new to security cams
Great question and I'm surprised the video didn't cover this. The E340 floodlight camera has two PIR sensors, so it is able to detect movements outside of the camera's default view and point to it (out-of-view detection). It even allows you to adjust the range of each PIR sensor (left vs right). The S340 does NOT have a PIR sensor, so it can only follow movement once it's detected within the camera's view.
@@josephlee1255 Correction here, the S340 DOES have a PIR sensor, but it faces the same direction as the camera. SO its important that you set up your default view (135*) to catch as wide an areas as possible thats important to you. It wont detect motion in its blind spots. So mounting location is a bit more important than with the E340.
Looks like a good choice; I wonder about ice, snow, hail, rain, sunbleach resistance throughout the seasons. Is it for nice Texas weather or will it be suitable for Canada and the cold? Also, I'm looking for a cloud video saving solution, or, is the local saving solution good?
I can only speak to the heat (I live in the desert) my original Eufy cameras that are several years old now are still going strong putting up with the desert heat. The local storage is a decent solution, the only issue would be if you wanted an off site backup. That is available but it costs.
Nah… That is why you’re basically overpaying for the brand “eufy” name versus not going with the generic Chinese named cameras for half the price that you’ll see on Amazon etc. *Which I am NOT knocking “all cameras are built from china” I’m simply stating the obvious you get some no name camera with all the great features but if they don’t update there apps… THERE CAMERAS THEN BECOME USELESS BEST WiFi cameras out there with no monthly subscriptions is by far 🥇EUFY & 🥇EZVIZ!🚨 Ezviz gets no love while in years past there cameras have had all the technology 2-3 years before all the competition.
My current flood lights are mounted under the eves, can I mount this unit horizontally vs wall mount? Or do I have to construct a 90-degree box of some sort?
Thank you for the detailed video. Supper helpful. QQ, please, does S340 have a security alarm like E340? Please let me know. Thank you. Does anyone know the answer, please? Thanks
Yeah, I would. You don’t want the camera so low that you only see the tops of heads. On the flip side, that does put the low enough it could be tampered with.
Good review, thanks. Are you able to offer a brief comparison/opinion to the RING FLOODLIGHT camera? And if you can offer a comparison to RING, which would you consider a better overall camera/system ? Thanks, Greg Schwartz p.s. I’ve been using Ring cameras for several years and I’m considering switching over to Eufy.
Hi I love the idea of the hard wired unit but no one has said about a smart crook turning off your mains power or about when a power outage happens! Is the hard wired version going to still work with no mains power? In Australia we don't lock our mains fuse box as the metre reader needs access!! Love to know if has backup power when no electricity, it's really useless if a crim turn off your mains power and robs you blind mate. Thankyou Stephen
It’s hard to say without more information. Is the ear trying to put the camera far away from your router? How far away is it? A repeater may be necessary, or using the base station may help as well.

I’ve had a couple in the past, most recently Wyze cameras. As far as solar ones go Eufy has been the most robust.
You can record 24/7 to the homebase 3 if you insert a 2.5 inch ssd or hdd or you can use a micro sd card inside the actual camera
Does the wired camera light stay on when it’s activevated? Or does it shut off after nothing been moving for a while?
Thanks for the video. I don't remember you testing the detection range. Can you give me an idea what detection range of these cameras are?
The furthest that I’ve had my detection zone set is about 40 feet from my garage wall to the base of my driveway. I haven’t tried past that distance.
Thanks you for the review. Are the lights on the hard wired camera motion activated? Or do they have to be turned on and off yourself?
You can set them up in the app to come on and off whenever you want .
Is there any kind of subscription service with these?
Yes and no. You don't need one (and I don't have one), but you can pay extra for offsite backup and monitoring.
@@DoItYourselfDad Do u have to opt for 24/7 subscription plan monitoring for home insurance to credit u an annual discount?
Thanks again for your channel,
thx for the video.. on the s340, do you also use the home base for recordings? And if so how do you like it?
Yes, I’m using the Homebase. I prefer the Homebase as I seem to get allerts faster using it wrather than Wi-Fi.
Really enjoyed this review. Thank you.
I have a question, I bought the E340 & when the sensor picks something up, the flood light blinks on & off for 10 seconds then stay on for the amount I had set it to. How do I turn off the blinking part? BTW awesome video review!
Good comparison review. Thanks
Good presentation! Can you please advise:
(1) if the video recording is saved and if so, for how much period?
Thank you!
In your case get the homebase3 it kind of help where internet fails the home base will keep you connected
I’m thinking s340 plus the newer base station 9:24 and also either above or below the camera that adding a separate motion solar light as running power out would be to cumbersome and expensive. I plan on getting these soon.
Very helpful comparison. Thank you.
Thank u for your input very informative
Thank you for the informative video, I need one thing to clarify, If I purchase the Eufy S340 (Solar) and connect it to the home base, will it record 24-hour footage in the home base or only when there is motion?
The solar one will not, the one that has contact power can.
Great review, thanks!
Hello, thank you for a well and described video. I have a question for you: Can I uses a home base for solar cameras? Please advise.
Yes, I have mine hooked up to the HB3
As for the light on the solar model if you don't have access to electrical and/or don't want to fiddle with adding it and you don't mind the looks you could get a solar floodlight of your choosing and mount it by it/where need be.
You would still need power of some sort to power the camera, unless you went with the solar one.
Thanks for the informative video. Do you know if Eufy fixed the issue where if you hold the sync button to reset the cameras that it tends up not only removing the camera from your network but also deleting the footage that was recorded with that camera?
Yes, that was fixed with a firmware update.
2.4 you have to use
Thanks, lots of good info, just received my S340 and the collar around the lens was loose, don’t think this is normal, called eufy and they are sending me another unit.
New here. Wondering how e340 compares to Reolink duo floodlight & s340 with Reolink Atlas PT ultra.
Very thorough video.
@10:11 you say let's look at what kind of footage they capture in the dark and don't show footage LOL! Was curious about how the solar one looks at night...
Shoot! Bad editing on my part. I will try to get a clip for for you shortly.
I was waiting to see the night comparison too
@@MX-5_RF I just got back in town a few minutes ago, Im going to have some night time shots up very shortly.
Hi very informative video many thanks for that. I bought the E340 recently to replace my nest camera and standalone drive light on PIR. Question is if the Eufy works well, I would consider changing my doorbell camera from blink to Eufy, can they share a Homebase?
How has the E340 held up? Thoughts? I’m thinking about purchasing on Amazon! It’s on sale right now for $160
Yes, they can share a homebase, you can connect up to 16 camera devices to the HB3. I have everything connectrion thorugh my HB
So glad I bought the Eufy, so impressed with it, will be switching to the Eufy doorbell and HB3 as soon as I can.
FYI - the HB3 will only store continuous recording from 4 devices.@@DoItYourselfDad
@@StressedSeeker I wouldnt buy from Amazon as their return window is short. If you have any issues later you can't return it.
Hi, where is the link to how to install an electrically wired camera?
For the tracking does it it need to be connected to the homebase? Or does this feature still work just over wifi?
It will still work over wifi, with these the AI is the same in camera as it is in the base, the base just adds additional storage.
Which of the two cameras ...
Great video! Just got the wired E340 but I’m noticing it rarely detects anything at night including passing vehicles. However daytime detection is great. Any suggestions? I’ve already set detection to the highest, reset it removed and added it back to app etc. is it time I call Eufy?
How high off the ground do you have it mounted? How far away are the vehicles you are trying to detect?
Out of all Eufy outdoor cameras, which camera has the clearest picture and farthest detection range?
Hi
I've just bought 2 of the electric cameras and got electrician coming to hard wire both so just quick question does the cameras get plugged into sockets ?
No, no into sockets, they are hard wired into the boxes.
Imo, the Eufy S3 pro has a better solar panel than e340 & gives a better image in the night.
Very interesting. How do you secure your camera against theft when it is installed so low?
Both are screwed to the wall, there is also a tampering alarm you can setup in the app.
*QUESTIONS*
1: How far from the router can the SoloCam S340 connect?
@@DoItYourselfDad Thanks for getting back to me. Those are the answers I was hoping for. Now I'm *SUBSCRIBED!*
Get yourself a mesh network, if you haven’t already. Easily spans 1/2 acre lot. If your lot is bigger, you may need to add another access point but mesh is the way to go.
You could try a long range access point like the ones Unifi make (LR MODEL) I’m sure there are other options, but these are quite affordable and should cover an average garden.
for me the most important to know is. Can i watch the cams (i need 3) on a TV screen or Computer or on Handphone ONLY like the V380cams ????
You can now, there is a feature to view on a computer (I'll have a video out soon), I havn't played around with it took much though.
The AI processing option is the likely cause of the alert delay.
It's not, if you run it in the "most efficient" setting, which I am, it bypasses the AI on the initial alert.
Nice video, but one question,if have a home base, I don't need to insert a microSD card for local storage??
How to install the wires? Please post the link on how to install the E340. Thanks
Agree?
Did you happen to test if the camera is facing the sun, how good they perform when sun is glaring at the camera?
Mine gets the setting sun in the afternoon, if its looking straight at the sun it does get some sun flair and blow out.
Great review and narration.
Hi, you showed how long it took for the alert message to get to your phone, but when did the camera start recording as surely that is what matters most? Thanks
Exactly what I was thinking. I have a Reolink at my front door and I lose people behind posts because of how long it takes to start recording.
Thank you
I bought both! They are great!
Thanks for the great review.
Glad it was helpful!
Does it have to be in direct sunlight?
Yes, it does. They do have remote mounting kits if you need to mount the solar panel in a different direction or in a different area to get direct sunlight though.
During daytime, does it turn the light on?
Yes, mine is setup to be on dusk till dawn, but it can be setup with specific times as well.
Looking for a solar powered camera and live in an older home too, but i worry about wifi signal having a tough time getting through the walls to the camera
I think you did a good enough job for me to make a decision
Is there a under eve bracket for the camera and solar panel
Unfortunately, no, you would have to make something. The brackets that they come with are meant to screw into a verticals surface.
Is there lag in motion detection before starting to record ? was camera slow to record when person came within sight ?
I didn’t notice any, there is a lag between sensing motion and getting a detection, but I didn’t notice a lag in the start of the recording,
Will the cameras work with the Arlo Base?
That was a great question because I was wondering the same thing
@@josephlee1255 Correction here, the S340 DOES have a PIR sensor, but it faces the same direction as the camera. SO its important that you set up your default view (135*) to catch as wide an areas as possible thats important to you. It wont detect motion in its blind spots. So mounting location is a bit more important than with the E340.
Can you use this s340 cam with the homebase 3 that comes with the s300 cameras? Thank you.
Yes, that is how I have it hooked up at my house
Hi, why you skiped the dark footage? 10:10
Can you mount the E-340 from an Eve and not on a wall ?
does the solar one have 360 deg detection? Can you sneak up on the camera from the back? (if it were placed where your floodlight camera is)
Looks like a good choice; I wonder about ice, snow, hail, rain, sunbleach resistance throughout the seasons. Is it for nice Texas weather or will it be suitable for Canada and the cold? Also, I'm looking for a cloud video saving solution, or, is the local saving solution good?
Also, can the wired one be installed under the soffit, that is, vertically?
I can only speak to the heat (I live in the desert) my original Eufy cameras that are several years old now are still going strong putting up with the desert heat. The local storage is a decent solution, the only issue would be if you wanted an off site backup. That is available but it costs.
Thank you for your input. @@DoItYourselfDad
Hi, will the camera return to a default view setting after sensing motion?
The problem with most of these gadgets is their apps could be discontinued like Hero cams , and you ended up dried .
That is true but I doubt that Eufy/Anker will be going out of business anytime soon.
They should still have the app active and not have to modify anything if they go out of business. Hopefully they don't
Nah… That is why you’re basically overpaying for the brand “eufy” name versus not going with the generic Chinese named cameras for half the price that you’ll see on Amazon etc.

My current flood lights are mounted under the eves, can I mount this unit horizontally vs wall mount? Or do I have to construct a 90-degree box of some sort?
Thank you for the detailed video. Supper helpful.

Does anyone know the answer, please? Thanks
I just checked on mine, yes it does.
wondering if you run passed the zone , how quick can it record from when & where
I read that 7’ is the optimum height for a security cam. Do you agree?
Yeah, I would. You don’t want the camera so low that you only see the tops of heads. On the flip side, that does put the low enough it could be tampered with.
Good review, thanks. Are you able to offer a brief comparison/opinion to the RING FLOODLIGHT camera? And if you can offer a comparison to RING, which would you consider a better overall camera/system ?
Thanks,

p.s. I’ve been using Ring cameras for several years and I’m considering switching over to Eufy.
Unfortunately I don’t have any experience with the ring floodlight
Hi I love the idea of the hard wired unit but no one has said about a smart crook turning off your mains power or about when a power outage happens! Is the hard wired version going to still work with no mains power? In Australia we don't lock our mains fuse box as the metre reader needs access!! Love to know if has backup power when no electricity, it's really useless if a crim turn off your mains power and robs you blind mate. Thankyou Stephen
The hard wired ones don't have a battery backup, so if your breaker is thrown the camera will be off.

I'm in an area that does not have good WiFi. What camera is best in that case?
It’s hard to say without more information. Is the ear trying to put the camera far away from your router? How far away is it? A repeater may be necessary, or using the base station may help as well.
Can I take the solar camera and mount it on top of a surface so that the camera is on top, and then go into the app and flip the image?
Question how much of a power draw is the wired one. For example, how much more would you say you electric bill increased with the wired camera.
Near nothing, it's basically the solar one with a few more lights.
