    The one security weakness is that if local storage is in the doorbell it can be damaged or stolen. I also find that the delay in getting the video after an event suggests that even without a subscription there may be uploads to the cloud.

    • @FortKnoxCo
      @FortKnoxCo  Год назад +5

      These have the option to have a Home Base which is extended memory that can be in your home in a secured location to circumvent the problem of a damaged or stolen doorbell. You can keep all the memory safely at home still and home HAVE to pay for storage in a subscription format just to be able to use the features of your doorbell camera. I found that as a negative when you buy a Ring doorbell for all the cool things it can do but you don’t get all those features unless you continue to pay for them.

      Eufy does allow for local storage, and if you get a Synology NAS, you can also back that up to a cloud service of some kind (or even another Synology NAS you have stored at a relative's house that you can sync the data between) and there is a Synology app to view your video feed remotely as well.
      I haven't gotten one yet but I am planning on it may be more steps than what most people want, but the important thing, is that you are in control of your won data. Ring freely gives your video feed to policy agencies when they simply ask, not even under subpoena.

      @@cybernoid001 this is a big point! One of the main reasons I like having the storage in the owners control 100%. Plus you aren’t subject to rings fees and service or nothing. With their device you don’t have choices.

    Eufy wired dual camera is good. Eufy app needs work. Experiencing random indoor chimes and doorbell notifications, not sure what causes the false rings. But as long as you have the storage available then I say why not go big. As far as a specific brand I don’t really have one. I know Eufy is coming out with their “professional” camera system for 24 hour coverage cameras. I’m going to be trying those when they come out.

    I was using a Eufy 1080p wireless doorbell, which was OK, but then switched to the Blink doorbell, as I have other Blink cameras and thought it was a good idea to have it all on the same platform. I'm think now of putting the Eufy back.
    With the Eufy, when the doorbell rings, I get a notification, tap it and see who's there.
    With the Blink, it takes longer to view who's at the door. By the time I'm able to see who is at the door, they're usually gone.
    Also one advantage to the Eufy wireless doorbells is that the data is stored _inside_ on as SD card in the _chime_ , not in the doorbell itself, which is a good feature if a perpetrator rips the doorbell off. The video is still in the house. I don't know why the wired doorbells don't do it that way.
    The only thing the Blink is beter at is battery life. the lithium batteries seem to last longer than a charge on the Eufy. It seems like I've been charging the Eufy every month.

And then after the 30 days I got a notification saying I can’t view any of my videos from events u less I now subscribed….. I didn’t like that. I felt I already paid a good penny for the device, why can’t I see any of the advertised features. Without paying more money forever I would only be able to view stuff at my door during the moment it was happening or else it was not accessible later. And what made me mad was when I got a notification that someone was there at my door and I would quickly try to open it up and view or communicate….it lagged and had delays and I lost the window to actually see who was there when they were there.
      So I just felt there’s gotta be a better way. Give me the option to at least store some amount of local video storage and then give me the option to pay more if I want extra stuff like monitoring service and cloud storage.

    • @FortKnoxCo
      @FortKnoxCo  Год назад

      The ring, and the Eufy doorbells all have a plug-in remote doorbell that chimes whenever someone presses the doorbell outside. This is a benefit because you can plug that doorbell in anywhere you want and even put it in a better place than the house one is located. Some people put multiple doorbells within their house to be able to hear it in different rooms. So it’s just another option.

      I don’t know much about all of this. I’ve been looking into however. I like my existing doorbell. Also to think someone could just tear it off the wall and walk away with it… I’m personally just thinking of trying to put a couple of wired cameras around, 2-3 that are Wi-Fi connected. I have whole house generator if power is lost. I’ve been looking for some cameras that notify human movement, day or night. I have outdoor lighting pretty much everywhere from dawn to dusk. So a floodlight isn’t needed. Also I would like to have an app that I could pull up all of the cameras if I heard a noise or something. I’ve read some have SD slots that roll on for a length of time, and record over after a period of time. I really don’t want to pay a monthly fee if possible…. Any suggestions from any you that are familiar with security cameras….

      @@ronharrington8659 I get what your saying. As far as the doorbell these have a storage unit inside that some come with so your video is stored inside.it’s their HomeBase. Also they have their wireless door chime which I believe has the local storage too. So even if someone took the doorbell off the wall you’d have your video stored inside your house on one of those devices. As far as camera systems there are lots of choices that offer motion/human detection and notifications. They also all offer local and cloud storage. So you might just need to pick a couple brands and read what they offer, because most of them offer those features now.

    • @FortKnoxCo

      You’ll have to use the plug in that comes with it. Unfortunately the way these door bells work with having a constant supply of electricity they don’t activate the traditional type of door bell. The benefit though is that you can plug it in anywhere you want. It could be in your bedroom or the garage or wherever you might want the notification to be utilized best. And it can be an outlet that is not being used or somewhere out of sight if you prefer. It’s kind of cool that you can put the bell anywhere you want.

    I got this doorbel for a while now. Few points: it only lasts 3 months instead of a year. Has a proven security flaw that video files are stored out of the country. Which can be accessed by Eufy. The doorbell is so slow establishing a connection that the package guy is already gone 9/10. Although i do have 1000mb internet. So that is a couple of things from a longterm user. What is also funny is that if you also take the camera's with the base station.. you can steal it, and reset it. It will delete remotely all the content from the basestation. Leaving you with an empty basestation. It is the perfect scenario for burglars.

      Sucks to hear that. I haven’t experienced any of those problems. The notifications come in quick, usually within 1-3 seconds of the motion my watch and phone are vibrating. And I’ve been able to catch people at my door before they leave and speak to them through the doorbell very well.
      As far as a base station storage and if your not storing anything in cloud, you’d want obviously want that in a secure location. Not out in the open or easily grabbed. That would be the same case with any security system that’s stored on property. You don’t want anyone grabbing the storage device.

      No need to get all emotional. Obviously they have batter power versions and hard wired versions. If you would take a second to read the descriptions you’d see I have links for both options. Pretty much every manufacturer now a days has a wired and battery version for that exact reason. If possible I’d try to do the wired version because they seem to be more reliable overall with constant power and not having to change/charge the battery is a huge plus.
      As far as compensation, I wish. I did this video just out of the kindness of my heart. Wasn’t happy with Ring, found Eufy and wanted to share the Info. It’s the cool thing about having a RUclips channel, it’s just like a co-worker sharing a brand or item with you that they purchased and loved and think other people will love too. Either way it’s all information to digest and take as you will. No one’s opinion or RUclips video should be taken as gospel. Always do you research and try out things. See what works best for you.

Some of the newer chimes or larger combo packs have the option to add your own memory card in increase its storage too.

Still have a Ring doorbell button, though - two more months on my subscription before it goes. Wanted a doorbell camera that uses existing doorbell so I have a Lorex doorbell camera. But the mounts on Lorex doorbell cameras suck. Very wimpy plastic mounts. Plus, they don't provide a base big enough to cover existing holes from previous doorbells. Not sure what to do for mounting this one.

      With ring I just never had the quick responses or notifications. I also didn’t like that you had no other choice but to sign up for a subscription. But either way whether you push the button or not it captures your image and video of you approaching and leaving. It notifies the owner of motion, person detection and package detection and captures that and has it saved no matter what. Pushing then button sends A different notification and allows the person to speak through the camera doorbell. Pushing the button tags the video different in The saved memory.

    I had been a Eufy 2k Doorbell user for 2 years. It sounds nice that no subscription, etc.. However after going through two wireless doorbells, they have two significant flaws they couldn't fix.
    It has two powering options. a, Battery that could be charged via USB, b, direct wiring via 12~24vAC
    1. IT WILL NOT WORK CONTINUALY OVER A MONTH WHEN IT IS HARDWIRED, the battery need to be fully charged and reset, this requires pulling the bell wire out reinstalling
    (personally went thru 3 or them and two software updates.
    2. SHORTAGE OF STORAGE NOT EXPENDABLE, I have a high number of the visitor in installation and local storage in EUFY HOME has 16GB of storage, and it has a USB that doesn't extend the storage via USB Sticks, they never implemented via firmware upgrade.

      That sucks you’ve had a bad experience with it. I know the battery option is less preferred because of the hassle of having to pull the batter or unit and recharge and then stick back out there. I had a battery one at first and hated having to do this.

      Before those, I have 4 Arlo cameras on the outside and they work fine and store all the videos locally, can see them from anywhere in the world, but the lag between activity, being triggered, and starting recording is so long that I most often get nothing on film. Useless unless the person stays in frame for more than 10 seconds. I wouldn't recommend the Arlo system. So far the Eufy seems the best. I had the Samsung in the past but were so bad I gave them to my elderly mom so I can watch her from across the country should she need help. The information at the beginning of the video claiming that ring/blink cannot store video locally or has no access after the FREE trial subscription ends is just FALSE. If you buy it with the Sync Module you have the ability to locally store and remotely view any and all motion alerts and videos from all of your cameras on that system. As stated by another user at least that is inside the house so you don't have to lose everything when someone just rips the camera off the house. Also to buy the blink/ring system with that backup option is still less expensive that what you're proposing here. In addition you can use your existing Alexa or blink mini camera's as chimes in addition to your mobile devices and tablets by just installing an app and setting up which ones you want to ring. Just tell people the truth rather than a paid marketing scheme. Otherwise a well made video, and no beef with using an alternate product that has the same or maybe better features.. but don't lie about a competitor to make a quick buck.

      @FortKnoxCo  Год назад +15

      I appreciate the feed back. I make videos on all the stuff I buy or use to just give insight or instructions on installing/problem solving. But was not paid by Eufy to do this. I was making a video about my ring doorbell and then learned about how I’d have to have a subscription or buy more equipment to store my data/alerts n such. I then researched, found eufy and liked that with just the doorbell it had internal storage and the ability to expand, but didn’t have to buy anything else other than the door bell if I didn’t want to. I was mainly focusing on using the door bell as a stand alone and having the ability to access all the creatures these door bell talk about. With ring I lost most those great features after the trail unless I wanted to pay for something in addition. With the Eufy i was able to install and have full access to the features as advertised and didn’t have to pay for them down the road. I also had a lot of connection issues with my ring doorbell. Not saying this is a problem for everyone but something I experienced. With the Eufy I’ve had a way better experience with opening the app and I’m the video feed popping right up. The ring lagged or didn’t connect. And when it did half the time it would notify me that it was doing a software update and would be back online shortly. Super annoying.
      But again I appreciate the feedback. Never intentionally hiding any info from people. I may be pumping up what I’m doing or expanding more on what I have in my hand vs the other options, but that’s only because it’s what I may have more experience with or actually have experience using. I usually just make videos about stuff I find or have used. There’s plenty of other options out there. Im not testing and doing break downs on all systems like a tech channel, just trying to help people with getting more info out there.

I’m impressed how it has the facial recognition and sends you a snap shot of the persons face as they are walking up. And you are right with how fast it is. I hated getting a notification about someone at my door and by time I get it open to view they are gone or walking away. Not with this Eufy.

    PROBLEM WITH IT IS THAT IT ONLY USES 2.4 GH WIFI. I USE 5 GH AND NOT GOING BACKWARDS. SO I WILL WAIT TILL DOOR BELLS GET THEIR SHIT TOGETHER !!!

      Did not know this was a factor. I hope they all step it up and become more competitive

    Can it automatically display on my Samsung tv? No. Not interested.

      Not sure if it displays on a tv. You may be able to download the same app on your phone onto your tv and see if it allows you to connect to your doorbell.

    I’ve owned eufy for years and I’ve gone through several devices and their biggest fault is the protection lense keeps falling out of their door bells

      I haven’t had that problem. Seems to work and stay true. The only thing I notice on my door lock doorbell camera is when the sun is hitting it directly and it’s over 100 degrees it give some type of heat warning chime. It’s weird but only happens once in a while

    What if you don’t have a doorbell? Can you still use it for the camera?

    • @FortKnoxCo

      Yep 100%. They make a wireless battery operated model, that can be mounted anywhere you want basically. And it can come with a plug in chime if you want the door bell to ring inside too. That plugs in anywhere in your home that you want and it goes off when the button is hit. Otherwise your phone/smart watch gets notifications from the door bell too

    EUFY is rubbish - There is a delay in the recording so I choose RING

      I felt like Ring was rubbish. Had delays on notifications and it was always updating when I went to go look at my camera feed. So I found Eufy and haven’t had any of those problems. Seems like everyone’s situation is different. I think it all might be with how well the doorbells work with each persons WiFi signals and strengths.

    If you have two camera's one front door and one back door. Can the doorbell be used for both camera's

    • @FortKnoxCo
      @FortKnoxCo  7 месяцев назад

      The doorbell camera itself has two cameras on it. One facing forward, and one facing down they cannot be removed or positioned elsewhere. If that’s what you’re asking. You can easily mount another doorbell video camera on the back door and within the app you’ll be able to view both doorbell cameras. But you cannot separate the two cameras on the one doorbell.
