Another EXCELLENT video! So much helpful information! There is so much to consider when upgrading our systems, your insights are key in making informed decisions! I will be in touch with you soon about updating our system!
Thank you! 😊
Great video, and i appreciate your straight forwardness and honesty. Also saw your review on the Eufy S330, which i have perchaced. went with the 4 camera system, my house is old and wifi wont be and issue.. Thanks again. Also forwarding your videos to my friends who are also interested in securing their homes..
Thank you. Much appreciated. You’ll have to let me know what you think about the S330 after some time with them.
Thank you, informative !
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching!
Thank you sir! you gave me some valuable and much needed info.
You’re very welcome. Glad it helped!
Great topic & advice!!

@@GeorgeLangabeer been following your channel for a while. Should be getting a system in next 6 months. Thanks again for all your help and glad your health has allowed you back 🙏👍👍
@2005Pilot Thanks for the continued support!
Wow, great information given. You have given me a lot to consider before I buy. Thank you.
Happy to help. Thanks for watching!
I did ptz and 16 Mp 180 stitch camera. Best of both worlds.
Great explanation 💪, tx
Happy to help!
I live in an apartment, so wired is really not an option for me. Very good video and info , thanks for your expert advice.
You’re very welcome. Thanks for watching!
Great Great and informative. How do we protect our NVR from being stolen along with the other items? Because the NVR has the footage only?
I’ve been doing this for over 20 years & have installed NVRs for thousands of people & I’ve never had one stolen…BUT, if you’re really worried about, install the NVR somewhere a thief wouldn’t look. Like a laundry room, or a closet that has power (or add power to a closet). There are plenty of places you can install one if you get creative.
Great content! Thanks for sharing.
Ive built a new 4 home and tossing up between Reolink and Unifi. It will be a 6 Camera setup like you describe. No indoor ones needed.
What would you recommend.
You’re welcome & thanks for watching!
For a new home, I wouldn’t recommend either. I’d get something better & professional grade. Alibi Security is my go to for a new build. If you check out the description of this video, you’ll find some of my videos on Alibi.
What is a good wired security camera system for homeowners who want to install themselves without monthly service?
This is my go to system…there is an updated version for 2024. Feel free to contact me to discuss. My contact info is in the description.

@@GeorgeLangabeer appreciate that
Thanks for another great video. It helps a lot. I’ve been going through a rabit hole trying to find the best security system for my needs. There’s maybe something else that I would add to the list: NVR security. I’ve read that isolating your NVR from the internet with firewall rules is really important to prevent hackers from getting inside your network. What are your thoughts about that? And are you doing something else to protect your system and network when installing these devices? Thanks again!
NVR security is very important. Nowadays there are a lot more options to maintain your camera system privacy. Alibi for example uses a Peer to Peer connection. So instead of your router & port forwarding like the old days (which is the least secure), your system is being hosted on a secure server with end to end encryption. The sole purpose of that method is to maintain your privacy.
This is another example of “you get what you pay for”. If you go for the cheaper entry level “big box” systems, your privacy is more at risk, because those companies barely have privacy on their road map. Yet another reason to always go professional grade.
@@GeorgeLangabeer I agree, and I think it’s something that is mostly overlooked. It will definitely impact my choice. Thank you!
Overlooked indeed. You’d think that wouldn’t be the case in 2024, but it is.
@@GeorgeLangabeer Is this possible to do with using synology surveillance station?
Knowledge is power , I've got it ...
lol. I’m glad you do!
Hey George , Great video. Want to know what's your feeling on the Lorex systems? Thanks
Thanks! Not a fan of Lorex. If you watch enough of my videos, you’ll find out quickly I call them “drug dealer” cameras. Lol
Thanks a lot for the education but sir where the best place to put your server

I went with Unifi UNVR & I love it. I'm not going to recommend nothing else for anyone. The network & controller plus the UNVR-UDM-Switch Love it...
Unifi is always a solid choice.
motion vs full time and can you mix them
George, what do you think of Backstreet Surveillance? I think they are based in Utah, and mostly do business systems but I understand they do home systems as well. I'm looking to buy 6 outside cameras + NVR, and a few wi-fi for inside needs.
Never heard of them, so I’m afraid I can’t help you there. If you’re interested in a good system, my contact info is in the description of all my videos. Feel free to contact me.
Regarding a wired system. Is the wiring that comes with the kit sufficient or would you recommend upgrading? I ask because my uncle is a retired contractor and we both installed a system on my mom's house. He insisted going with a better quality Cat 5 wire. I'm just not sure if I want to spend that extra money.
It’s worth it. I’d at least upgrade to Cat5e or Cat6.
Totally solid advice. Nice job.
Thanks! 🙏🏻
George Langabeer Could you tell me what is the best trail camera for my woods let me know thank you.
I don’t use trail cams, so I’m afraid I don’t have a good answer for you.
@@GeorgeLangabeer OK thank you.
What brand would you recommend for 3 wifi based 2k or better canera system for indoor hime use? I will have it professionally installed.
Eufy all the way.
Good video. Just finished. I enjoyed very much.
Awesome, thank you!
I've studied this for many days trying to decide what is best for me. Everything I learned is explained in your video. Great job. I wanted something easy for my parents to be able to view, they aren't so great with phone apps and stuff. I installed a Tapo camera because the app is about as simple as it gets. I'll install another camera and perhaps one indoors. I guess the only thing not mentioned in this video is some cameras can back-up the video on a memory card and or cloud storage. Or someTapo cameras use a hub that you can put a memory card in. Tapo also gives you a free 30 day cloud storage for every camera that you buy. And perhaps another topic is some cameras have AI features, such as people detection, animal detection, and others.
You covered some good points here. Thanks for sharing!
Opinion of Unifi connect cameras? I have Lorex now.
Unifi is one step above entry level cameras like Lorex and they are one level below professional grade cameras like Alibi. Definitely better than Lorex.
Recommendations for best Dahua NVR and 4K camera?
I will never recommend Dahua cameras because they are not NDAA compliant. Basically meaning they are prohibited by the U.S. Government.
@@GeorgeLangabeer what are camera/nvr systems that would fall into that Fall into that category that aren’t drug dealer cameras? I want a prosumer type set up for my home.
Thanks! We are looking at a solar camera system, having 140ft across the front of our home, and 80ft to the dirt road from the front of the house, distance is our consideration. Local people watch our home, and have drained our fuel from our motor home, or brazen as they are, just kick or bust out the window. Sheriff office tells us do we have proof, yes we need cameras. Looking at the eufy system, but any help would be appreciated, thanks Charlie and Linda
In that type of situation, you’re going to need something more robust & reliable. I’d suggest a good wired Poe NVR system. WiFi cameras aren’t going to cut it.
@@GeorgeLangabeer Hello George, so we just got a call from our neighbor, this thief was on our property again. We have almost an acre, lots of Oak and Pine trees and need a system that this brazen person will not cut power to cover his tracks, as he did to our next door neighbor. We thought the Eufy was one choice, no wires to cut, but you mentioned Poe NVR. We currently do not have wifi, and again thought something like the Eufy might serve our needs, if this type of system does not need wifi, thanks in advance for your advise, again, thanks Charlie and Linda....
what do you think about ubiquiti security cameras
Ubiquiti makes some decent stuff. They are right there with Reolink, being one step below professional grade. But they are way too proud of their stuff, as far as being too expensive for what they are. They also seem to always be out of stock, which is annoying.
What do you think of Wyze camera’s for budget WiFi system?
Im not a fan of Wyze. There is “inexpensive” and there is “cheap”. Wyze leans a little too much on the “cheap” side for me. Wyze is an example of, “you get what you pay for’. Better than nothing, but not an ideal option…in my opinion.
@@GeorgeLangabeer The new starlight night sensor is somewhat impressive though don’t you think?
@Cmurda22222 Yeah, Starlight is a great sensor to have on any camera.
Wyze also doesn’t have the best track record with privacy concerns. So that bothers me.
@@GeorgeLangabeer thank you for all your replies! I appreciate your time and value your opinion!
Since Alibi cameras can only be purchased through a dealer, can I buy them from you?
Yes you can. My contact info is available in the description of the video.
what everyones opinion on zosi poe nvrs?
Zosi is on the very low end. Cheap junk in my opinion.
@@GeorgeLangabeer Thank you I was about to drop another $250 to zosi since my previous cheaper system died out blaming it on just being used previous before me, im going to go check out my local security system shop again this time a little more experienced
What is the possibility reasons of my wired cam is not catching the evidence ?
Depends on the camera & the settings
Are Tp-Link Tapo cameras any good?
Depends on the model, but yes, I like several of their cameras. They’ve got some pretty cool stuff coming out later this year and early next year (that I saw at CES).
@@GeorgeLangabeer Thanks for answering. Models im thinking about to buy C320WS and C520WS.
How can you get monitoring wholesale
I’m not a big fan of monitoring, so I’m the wrong guy to ask
I bought every camera Reolink sells. I will install them all and see what I like hahah. lol
Good luck!
1080p can suck it
Yep
