Update review: I have had the Wifi Eufy Cam 3 system for about 15 months. Overall camera's (4G),and control center work well. The only problem that I have experienced was with the front door camera (lots of use) that went bad. Eufy has 1yr guarantee and the camera died at 14 months. They do not fix these camera so you have to purchase another and discard the camera. I had to purchase a new camera with no special discount given their camera was faulty. I will continue to monitor the rear door and it's life expectancy. Depending on the camera life cycle these units could get expensive over time. Basically, it cost about $179. for replacement camera after purchasing the control center with 2 camera's for $446 last year.

No Homekit support is a downer and the erasing of video on the Homebase when you reset a camera is a silly oversight (one that I hope they fix very soon). They are getting close but not quite there yet. I'd like to see 180degree FOV like the Arlo Ultra provides. What is the bitrate for the 4k files and are you able to access video files stored on the HomeBase3 via the Eufy web portal on a PC?

I got the first Eufy cams through their initial Kickstarter page. They promised to add Apple HomeKit support right up to when they released the 2nd version and dropped support for the original. The next lot of cameras had terrible battery life or didn't work with Homebase, preferring to use onboard storage (terrible idea). I guess it could be worked around slightly by glueing a washer over the reset button so it can't be pressed by hand, leaving just enough space for a pin to press it. It's not foolproof but maybe it would buy enough time to capture the persons face before they realised they can't reset it on the scene.

I'm guessing the notification from face detection is because it's more for looking through things after. Doing it real time on 4k footage would take crazy processing power. It's probably about video processing time and a trade off between late notifications vs quick ones with less info.

Contrary to what you said, it doesn’t appear that Eufy has any plan to integrate any of their wired doorbell cameras to HomeBase 3, or HomeKit for that matter. These, and their lackluster audio quality, remain like thorns in their side. Eufy is close to perfect, but not quite there yet. I also dislike not being able to view more than one live camera view at a time, on any dashboard for instance.

Arlo Ultras, which are 4k, work in HomeKit. When streaming, they do get resized to 1080P. So it’s not a limitation from Apple, it’s Eufy not coding for the stream change.

I liked your video. I prefer reviews by a person I can see, who has actually installed and used gear. The info you gave was concise and your video example help a lot. One thing that is barely mentioned in all the reviews I've seen is the app. I've been using Wyze for a few years. The cameras are fine for the money, but their app is too unreliable. It often fails to send notifications and in some cases, doesn't record an event. All the cameras are pretty good these days. The app seems to be what makes or breaks the system. Perhaps you could do a review just of the apps. Thanks for your video.

  • @Starkman3

Don't be fooled by their claim of no fees! I purchased and installed this system along with a video doorbell. I am happy with this except for the access to the videos from a PC. The Eufy portal won't let you retrieve events, and you can't install the Eufy APP on a windows PC. So your only option is to pay for Cloud Storage at a minimum of $100 a year. It would be a 5 star, but with this expensive access, I consider it 3 stars.

  • @SevenDaysToNoon

Everyone should know the shortcomings of this camera. The active area is the bottom half of what is in the camera view. This means that is will only detect things once they enter the bottom half of the view. So if the bottom part of the view is your car, but the top half contains the pavement and the driveway that leads to your car. You will only be notified once they are at your car. Your neighbours could have a barbecue on your drive and you would never be notified. Also the cameras have to be mounted very low on the wall to combat the previous issue. I’m talking about a height that would be reachable! Also their customer support is laughable. At least in the UK. They invariably do not understand what is being put to them. I asked them a question about a feature of the camera and they replied saying “I’m sorry you have a fault with your camera”. I asked them to advise me how to return a doorbell to them as it was no longer needed due to the whole system being returned to the retailer I bought it from and they replied saying they wanted me to return the system to them and that they would send out a replacement. This was after they had told me the camera would not work at my property, because of the initial issue I described above. They are a joke!

I would suggest you ReoLink cameras. They're hard wired, have fantastic quality video and are cheaper than most cameras in the market rn. They have basic AI human detection and have a ton of options in the app. They come with 256mb SD card storage and can record up to 6 full days before rewriting everything again. In the app you can see the whole day, with human events highlighted in different color for an easy search and trim clips if you want. And you have the option to use a device to continous save everything too (but keep in mind 24/7 storage can be really expensive, realistically you can't save more than three months in home cameras)

Still a lot of storage but who knows how much storage future cameras will need for higher resolutions. I'm interested, when the price lowers some.

    WARNING for those considering purchasing.
I purchased 3 Eufy cameras in total. Two of which were different models. In 14 months, one of the cameras went faulty, wouldn't charge and wouldn't turn on. Eufy support wanted nothing to do with it and we're adamant that as it was outside their 12 month warranty.
Another camera has gone down and will only hold a charge for 9 days. After contacting support, as the camera is 17 months old they will not do anything about the warranty.
It's not like their products are cheap either.
I had purchased a replacement for the first faulty camera but I will not be buying a replacement for the latest faulty camera. The products are not cheap and do not even last one year.
Horrible customer service and warranty. Do yourself a favour and purchase another product.

Hello, First of all thank you for your neutral review!
I have a question for you. Seen that you analysed both the EUFY E330 prof as well as the REOLINK DUO 2 Wifi. Which do you think comes out as best? For the Eufy I love the very clear video recording during day time, the AI face & pet recogitnion and its homebase 3. For the Reolink I love that it offers 180° angle, it's strong Wifi connection, strong lights when movement is detected during nighttime. Eufy claims that they can cover up to 10m during daytime and 8m during nighttime for clear and movement detection. Reolink claims it can cover up untill 30m, regardless day or nighttime. In your reviews I have the impression that the Eufy detects further than the Reolink. Is that correct?
Also, Eufy doens't have a dekstop coerage? Only through smartphone?

Was very disappointed to learn that the only thing my Eufy system will do without Internet (local Wifi only) is live streaming. No detection, recording or notifications. In fact all the wireless systems I've know of have the same problem. I don't get it. Why with local storage and a base station does the system need the Internet? It shouldn't. I assume the EufyCam 3 system works the same way.
