Update review: I have had the Wifi Eufy Cam 3 system for about 15 months. Overall camera's (4G),and control center work well. The only problem that I have experienced was with the front door camera (lots of use) that went bad. Eufy has 1yr guarantee and the camera died at 14 months. They do not fix these camera so you have to purchase another and discard the camera. I had to purchase a new camera with no special discount given their camera was faulty. I will continue to monitor the rear door and it's life expectancy. Depending on the camera life cycle these units could get expensive over time. Basically, it cost about $179. for replacement camera after purchasing the control center with 2 camera's for $446 last year.

Just found your channel. Great video. I am slowly switching all my Arlo cameras to Eufy. You can't beat the quality for the price point. Keep up the good work.
Great writeup. Time to get rid of my useless camera I have had for several years now. Two of the 3 brands still work well but one is a regrettable decision moment one I will definitely check these out. Thank you.
Yes kind of a dealbreaker @10:40 that all evidence videos stored locally will be erased via the reset button without any kind of protection i.e. password or 2FA, baffling that Eufy still hasn't addressed this counter intuitive issue for a security camera/product despite the big complaints, at least make it optionally available to enable 2FA or similar, if maintaining an easy reset out of the box is the higher priority.
I like eufy because you don't have to pay a monthly fee. We've had good luck with their cameras in the past so we ordered a couple 330's with the solar and a few 300's for indoors along with a 1 tb ssd for the base station.
Seems like an easy fix for security. Just add an algorithm in there when resetting it you have to be no more than a foot away from the home base or only allow a reset on your phone app or on the physical home base instead of the camera. Also send a two step verification code when attempting to reset.
Everyone should know the shortcomings of this camera. The active area is the bottom half of what is in the camera view. This means that is will only detect things once they enter the bottom half of the view. So if the bottom part of the view is your car, but the top half contains the pavement and the driveway that leads to your car. You will only be notified once they are at your car. Your neighbours could have a barbecue on your drive and you would never be notified. Also the cameras have to be mounted very low on the wall to combat the previous issue. I’m talking about a height that would be reachable! Also their customer support is laughable. At least in the UK. They invariably do not understand what is being put to them. I asked them a question about a feature of the camera and they replied saying “I’m sorry you have a fault with your camera”. I asked them to advise me how to return a doorbell to them as it was no longer needed due to the whole system being returned to the retailer I bought it from and they replied saying they wanted me to return the system to them and that they would send out a replacement. This was after they had told me the camera would not work at my property, because of the initial issue I described above. They are a joke!
i think eufy is a clever brand. Your recommendation are point on. Also a person with bad intention that know eufy could annihilate the whole thing by stealling the home base and reseting the camera, eufy need to work on that.
It looks like a nice camera but anything that I can't tie in with Home Assistant(rtsp would be great) at all is out for me. I recognize power is an issue but at least being able to make an api call when something's triggered would be an improvement.
Pretty bummed about the lack of HSK support, but if HSK still only supports 1080p, that might be why eufy didn’t want to support it on a 4K camera. The cameras seem great, but doesn’t seem like enough better quality of the eufycam 2 Pro’s that I have to justify a pricey upgrade. And the spotlight seems rough! Why even include it if the quality is that bad?!
@@SmartHomeSolver Yeah I’ve been using HSK on the eufycam Pro 2’s that I have. I just wonder if they figured that anyone buying a 4K camera isn’t going to want to have the quality reduced to 1080p by HSK? Because HSK reduces the quality even within the eufy app
I think it would awesome for you to check out and review Blue Iris. For the technically inclined, it has some pretty decent features for smart home integration. There's also a lot of compatible cameras.
These look great and I was looking to get the V2 until I read they are not really willing to support matter when it was released. Yeah matter doesn't have camera support yet but I would love to just have everything work perfectly in 1 place with 1 protocol instead of having different hubs and connection points that brands like to create to work just with their smart home bits and bobs. I am wanting to start to go into home automation, as I finally am getting a house, and I feel overwhelmed that everything I want to buy requires their own base or I will need to learn how to setup a home assistant server, ensure everything I buy works there and be cautious of how to setup the network for privacy in case something wants to connect to the Internet and be exploited etc. All this seems to be quite overwhelming for me and getting into the smart home stuff. So Anything that can alleviate my pain is the +1.
I'm in a similar boat. We just bought a place and now I'm excited about making it smart. There are so many cameras to choose from. Eufy is the most appealing to me. No subscription and the hardware is not expensive like Arlo. Idc for homekit integration bc I'm an Android user. I also don't want to keep kicking the can down the road until matter starts supporting cameras. I'll likely just go with this eufy
Never ever buy something on the promise of features in the future. It rarely happens. If anything, they'd release a new version if that time comes (with the excusing being the older hardware doesn't support it and can't be upgraded). Wait until they have homekit support not just announced, but IRL before buying (if that's a priority).
@@ivanzirdum2080 I know that’s true. Thank you! But I kind of trust Anker/Eufy. They at least will try before disappointing us :). I completely agree with you though, it’s completely true
@@prabjotusa trusting Eufy is a fool’s errand. Look at the track record of empty “promises” since they were on kickstarter! There are features / integrations that they promised with Homebase 2 that aren’t even available yet with the brand new Homebase 3! As of this writing, none of their wired doorbells even work with Homebase 3 and more than half of their products wont until April 2023 or later!? I don’t know why they release a Homebase a year before it’s able to do what it’s promising to do. Weird strategy imo.
Poor Luna. Thank you for this video. I was not considering security cameras, but now I am. Really good deals on the 2 Euphy cams but I like the features of this camera. Of course since it is new NOT on sale. We don't have motion lights so thinking this should be added first. Going to look thru your website to see what you suggest. I love Euphy products. Thank you.
That reset problem is definitely an issue. I guess it could be worked around slightly by glueing a washer over the reset button so it can't be pressed by hand, leaving just enough space for a pin to press it. It's not foolproof but maybe it would buy enough time to capture the persons face before they realised they can't reset it on the scene.
You are right solar is important. I ordered solar and have a couple that are not. I'm going to order a couple of solar panels and run wires to the ones that are not. Thank you for the videos they helped 😊
Arlo Ultras, which are 4k, work in HomeKit. When streaming, they do get resized to 1080P. So it’s not a limitation from Apple, it’s Eufy not coding for the stream change.
I have a few Eufy cameras for an apartment I have in another state. I just ordered some additional ones but was notified 3 days ago that the order was being returned by the carrier - assumed because of damage during shipment to the box/container. Good for me because now I'm going to be ordering these updated ones instead. Thanks for the review.
I was really excited to see these new cameras, I already have eufy doorbells and 5 2k cameras. I was going to do some upgrading with the new base and replace at least 2 of the cameras but the lack of homekit is a deal breaker. I already had to do some home bridge patching to get the doorbells on homekit and they are a little glitchy .
I truly enjoyed your review, this will probably push me to add this system to my home. You mentioned the pole mounts however I could not find your link.
Nice review. I regret to hear there are no improvements regarding integration with other platforms (e.g. home assistant). I'm moving away from my eufy door sensors and cameras (20 devices) due to this lack of integration. For HA in particular, there is a good extension developed by a few members of the community, but still far from providing everything is needed (and not their fault... eufy has limitations).
I bought into Eufy based on this channel's reviews and I'm not at all impressed with the real product. There's a lot of false alarms and lag (even though the signal strength is great and have made a lot of setting adjustments)
I liked your video. I prefer reviews by a person I can see, who has actually installed and used gear. The info you gave was concise and your video example help a lot. One thing that is barely mentioned in all the reviews I've seen is the app. I've been using Wyze for a few years. The cameras are fine for the money, but their app is too unreliable. It often fails to send notifications and in some cases, doesn't record an event. All the cameras are pretty good these days. The app seems to be what makes or breaks the system. Perhaps you could do a review just of the apps. Thanks for your video.
Looks very promising, but I can’t believe Eufy is ignoring the reset button security flaw. It was mentioned here in several comments. Not sure which is worse, the security flaw or Eufy ignoring the issue along with every customer inquiry. If there is an answer can you please share or point to it? Is it possible you could get us an answer? Do you have an opinion? Are you ok with this issue? Seems like a show stopper.
Great review. Thanks! This is exactly what I'm looking for in a security cam system. 4k, no subscription, long/everlasting battery life. Now to shop for a deal... :)
I wish they had some different color offerings other than white. Maybe some wraps in black, brown, camo, etc.. I guess you could use duck tape. It does come in colors.
Thanks for the review and thanks for mentioning the terrible sync button vulnerability, hopefully they fix that soon. After the Eufy privacy breach last year I tried to disconnect my Homebase 2 from the net, but found I could no longer use the app to view recordings or cameras as it relied on the Eufy cloud for authentication. Do you know if the Homebase 3 and cams can be disconnected from the internet, or do they still need the cloud for authentication?
Contrary to what you said, it doesn’t appear that Eufy has any plan to integrate any of their wired doorbell cameras to HomeBase 3, or HomeKit for that matter. These, and their lackluster audio quality, remain like thorns in their side. Eufy is close to perfect, but not quite there yet. I also dislike not being able to view more than one live camera view at a time, on any dashboard for instance.
I'm guessing the notification from face detection is because it's more for looking through things after. Doing it real time on 4k footage would take crazy processing power. It's probably about video processing time and a trade off between late notifications vs quick ones with less info.
I still can’t get my Eufy floodlight camera to work with Alexa. Will the Eufy home base help with that? All I want is for my Alexa devices to announce when it sees something on the camera…
thanks for letting us know footage can be deleted from base from the camera, that is a dumb design might as well put an SD slot on the camera. I assume you can purchase a cloud backup as an option but don't really need it but for a situation like this, assuming cloud backups isn't also deleted. The panel seems a little weak as well won't work so well during colder months with less sun or if the location is bad. Maybe a larger panel like the one for ring cameras would be better. Eufy has some work to do here, also need continuous recording which may be possible with SD card slot, better battery tech in the future or better solar. Notifications should be pretty fast though battery cameras tend to have more latency than wired in general.

I found out not to use refrigerators and freezer type products for power testing over a time period unless it’s weeks/months and the temperature outside of that device is also a near constant. 3 hours of the fridge was never opened, it may only run a few times. If you leave the door open I’m sure the battery would’ve died
No HomeKit, no purchase. I know HomeKit isn’t perfect but it’s very important to me especially since I have the Apple TV 4K in the basement and being able to view camera feeds on the tv is huge.
Make sure you check out the latest on Eufy details regarding their claiming not to upload to cloud but then doing so anyway, including images of your face(s). Also, Anker is a Chinese company so that should give some cause for concern. I had ordered them, excitingly due to the quality, but cancelled my order due to the above.
I'm loving my Eufy dual doorbell camera, but I wish it could push a feed to an Echo Show when it detects motion at the front door. Waiting for the notification, finding the phone, calling up the video takes a lot longer than simply going to the door and looking. Also wish they would fix the local feed in a browser. I'm looking at the base on my desk yet I can't access it directly or with speed. ...if it works at all. Still better than Ring, tho.
Would have been awesome review had he given a “distance” on street view, etc. So far, 4K & 8K suck for bird watching @ 17’ - all blurred - not even as good as his street view. Bought 2 cam kit - both zoom very lacking.
So Eufy sent you this camera to test; Does Eufy not have a testing facility / operation ? Also, you mentioned that No Money was exchanged; Do you regularly test Company products for free ? Test Engineers usually charge a fee for this sort of thing !
I have a question. If the camera dose not detect beyond 30' and can't do continuous recording. Why would it matter how good the camera resolves images 50 to 60' away? That would only matter if you were able to record live?
I think it does work with Synology. I haven't tested it out yet but it's on their website if you scroll to the bottom of the table support.eufylife.com/s/article/Differences-Between-All-eufyCams
Same size battery, but the solar panel looks smaller? 16 TB is a HUGE amount of space, for one camera. I bet Eufy was thinking about people who might have 12 or more cameras. Still a lot of storage but who knows how much storage future cameras will need for higher resolutions. I'm interested, when the price lowers some.

Lack of Homekit support is a real bummer, come on Eufy
In case anyone doesn't know. Eufy is a branch of Anker, so quality is pretty much a given
This is the perfect camera I would want for my home up until the no HomeKit secure video…😤
Way overpriced and can't view multiple cameras at the same time and the ai doesn't work very well lots of false alerts too.
I'm definitely interested in the new home base features and plus I'm able to integrate my old system with the new is a plus
Just found your channel. Great video. I am slowly switching all my Arlo cameras to Eufy. You can't beat the quality for the price point. Keep up the good work.
Yes, and the customer support form Arlo sucks!
I've been waiting for a long time for a 4K from Eufi. Definitely getting some to add to my current eufi network.
Color night vision got you looking like you're walking through a Thanos snap 😭
Great writeup. Time to get rid of my useless camera I have had for several years now. Two of the 3 brands still work well but one is a regrettable decision moment one I will definitely check these out. Thank you.
Which one was regrettable
And ? How did it go
Please share how it works for you? Thank you
@@dinas9528 Works great. The solar cameras always stay fully charged. Never have to take them down and recharge them
Seems like an easy fix for security. Just add an algorithm in there when resetting it you have to be no more than a foot away from the home base or only allow a reset on your phone app or on the physical home base instead of the camera. Also send a two step verification code when attempting to reset.
Great new features! Really like the new resolution, no hard drive capability and upgrades for future software capabilities.
Hey Brett! Yeah the missing HSK is a bummer and Eufy has added HSK to their 2K cams so not really sure what's going on.
I think I will get it, but a dealbreaker for me is the lack of matter or HomeKit support. Maybe in a future software update?
@@victorvek5227 yeah you’re right! Thanks for sharing your assessment! I appreciate it
Thank you.
I’m going back to wired for 24/7 monitoring. Eufy adds that feature I’ll buy it.
That reset problem is definitely an issue. I guess it could be worked around slightly by glueing a washer over the reset button so it can't be pressed by hand, leaving just enough space for a pin to press it. It's not foolproof but maybe it would buy enough time to capture the persons face before they realised they can't reset it on the scene.
does reset button take video off of home base so it is no longer recorded?
Fixed issue
You are right solar is important. I ordered solar and have a couple that are not. I'm going to order a couple of solar panels and run wires to the ones that are not. Thank you for the videos they helped 😊
I would love to upgrade my eufy cam 2, but without HomeKit support i wont be able to do it. HomeKit is a must for me.
Also was excited about this until the HomeKit note. Potentially due to 4k? Homebridge I suppose could bridge the gap but feels odd.
Yeah I would have done the same. I think this has to do with HomeKit not supporting anything over 1080p. That is dumb on apples side smh.
I already had to do some home bridge patching to get the doorbells on homekit and they are a little glitchy .
bad news for you, i would check recent yt videos on what eufy is doing... scary
@@JL1 fearmongering lmap
I truly enjoyed your review, this will probably push me to add this system to my home. You mentioned the pole mounts however I could not find your link.
Supporting devices which were previously standalone like the floodlight cam is pretty cool, unfortunately, no homekit support = no deal for me.
You should contact the company and tell them what you're going to do
@@hotlou2 Many users already did that (including my self). There are many threads about this on the eufy community :)
I saw on there website that apple support is coming soon??!!
I bought into Eufy based on this channel's reviews and I'm not at all impressed with the real product. There's a lot of false alarms and lag (even though the signal strength is great and have made a lot of setting adjustments)
Thanks for the review, I have the prior system and just ordered this because of your review 😊
Compared to the other popular wireless cams, you're paying a premium for the local storage...even considering monthly fees. To each his own.
Thank you for the review. I will probably buy this system in the future. Your insights helped in this decision.🙂
Amazing review👌💯
Many thanks for taking the time 👍
Looks very promising, but I can’t believe Eufy is ignoring the reset button security flaw.
HKS support is a must for me. I’ll be passing on these
Thank god I waited and didn’t buy the old 1080 wireless when they were on sale. These look brilliant.. price is decent too for what your getting
Just what I have been looking for. It will work great with all the sunshine 🌞 here in arizona.
Great review. Thanks! This is exactly what I'm looking for in a security cam system. 4k, no subscription, long/everlasting battery life. Now to shop for a deal... :)
I’ve been using nest for awhile but I’ve never really been satisfied tbh. I think this will be the replacement I’ve been looking for.
Thanks for the review Reed.
I hope it works better than all my solar lights which die after every winter.
I'm guessing the notification from face detection is because it's more for looking through things after. Doing it real time on 4k footage would take crazy processing power. It's probably about video processing time and a trade off between late notifications vs quick ones with less info.
Since Arlo stopped the free 7 day cloud storage plan… I need a new system. Looks like I’ll try Eufy!
Your Great Great Grandchildren would LOVE to see you washing your car in 2022.
Great review!! Very detailed!! But the starlight sensor makes the color at night so unreal😅
Wish there was an easy way to get these on Home Assistant.
What is missing is, Homebase should have also batteries. In electric shortage it should be available until electric comes back.
Does the base unit have its own built-in Wi-Fi or is it using your home's internet Wi-Fi?
No HomeKit Secure!!! Will wait till this is enabled - common guys!!
Your great grand kids would likely love to see you doing things.
Hello friend Inlove solar solutions. Living in a country where blackouts and power shortsges are a dayli basis reality I find this video and your solar sponsor a great Discovery. I send you blessings for this wonderful video made with such detail and professionalism wao awesome all together this video covers every aspect from security, the non-subscription solutions which are truly what msny of us look for...and solar goodness
Nice camera with almost all the features one needs... But it still expensive
Thanks - about to order. I have yet to see or read a bad review. Will get the 4 cam pack plus the Ring door cam
No HomeKit integration is a deal breaker for me. I’ll continue to use my eufy cam2
I’m definitely getting this security camera thanks for the video
Going to wait for Eufy Cam 4
Happy to be corrected here, but the largest 2.5" HDD/SSD I'm aware of is up to 5TB, not 16TB (which would be a 3.5").
Great videos. Do you think they will be HomeKit compatible in the future?
I have a question. If the camera dose not detect beyond 30' and can't do continuous recording. Why would it matter how good the camera resolves images 50 to 60' away? That would only matter if you were able to record live?
Would love a cam like this but to use with synology
I think it does work with Synology. I haven't tested it out yet but it's on their website if you scroll to the bottom of the table support.eufylife.com/s/article/Differences-Between-All-eufyCams
@@SmartHomeSolver oh nice!
Pls make a review about your Tesla too
Same size battery, but the solar panel looks smaller? 16 TB is a HUGE amount of space, for one camera. I bet Eufy was thinking about people who might have 12 or more cameras. Still a lot of storage but who knows how much storage future cameras will need for higher resolutions. I'm interested, when the price lowers some.
