As a 44 year old metal guy who NEVER listened to punk music, I stumbled upon your rig rundown like a week ago and I’m hooked. Actually picked up my bass again. Your stuff is on point! New fan for life!! Bass Bunker forever!!
Matt, the thing I think I like most about your Bass Bunker is we get to see how normal and human you are. Growing up, being inspired by how you have crafted your Bass playing skills, getting to see you in a more "intimate" setting showcasing the things we all love about what has inspired us is a blessing we never knew we were going to get. Thank you for videotaping and editing, we appreciate it!
Matt, you are doing great with this channel. Just do you man. We are here for it. We are lucky to just get videos of you having fun playing your songs. Everything else is frosting on the cake. You are doing a great job for just "learning as you go".
Nothing like having a great drummer to play with. Doesn't happen too often. You have had 4 great drummers that I know of. Dance Hall crashers makes it 5. That's amazing.
I know you end all the videos saying you really appreciate us but trust me we really appreciate you for taking the time and effort to make these videos for us. Plus it doesn't need to be perfect, it's punk rock!
Dude. I'm a 49 year old bay area kid, and when I first heard OP IVY I was absolutely hooked. Then in my twenties I started listening to rancid and my God man you are amazing. Diz this show that you're doing now is so cool. So so cool!
The production got really good, much better to hear the bass clearly. Thanks for the explanations about the process and for playing along with the song. That was sick!
Love watching someone who has the exact bass playing style as myself!! Not interested in Jaco/Geddy/Flea wankfest thats normally on here... this is the real deal!! Cheers Matt 👍
Love the new video intro! I LOVE this song. So sick. I remember when the "Collision Course," "Honor Is All We Know," & "Evil's My Friend" video was first released. I watched it like 200 times in a couple of days.
Thanks for the great channel, Matt. Got to meet you after a show 18 years ago in Minneapolis, and my youngest son just got to see you play during the Green Day tour. Your music spans generations!
I should show my bandmates this video, because they complain that "I'm too critical, never satisfied with yourself". This man has sold millions of albums and is still doing the same thing.
Mr. Freeman sir don’t be bummed or discouraged with what you put out to us. Your time for us is a gift and if it’s too polished it wouldn’t be you. Anyway, question do you remember your teen days of drinking and stuff and thinking to yourself in 30 plus years I’m still going to be playing music for the masses? What if any was your fallback career/ job would you be doing? Thank you sir for all you do for us out here. From a US Navy Veteran
Love the new intro!!!! Thank you for the amazing effort to put out these awesome videos and bass breakdowns for all of us! The gear, bass and tour vids were top notch too!!!!
The new production is cool. I like how you broke it down and explained the relationship between the bass and the drums. I bet it would be amazing to see how all of you collaborate. It's definitely one of my favorite albums
This was great Matt. I would like to request for you to breakdown Honor is all we know? I love that all 3 of you sing on that song. I’m interested in hearing how you wrote the lyrics (or maybe you didn’t) and your approach to writing your bass parts. Also I love the grit in your voice when you sing this song. Thank you for creating the Bass Bunker. Cheers
Hey Matt, have you considered including the key of the song and the chord progressions at the end of your videos, or a breakdown of your favorite riff/verse/chorus from the song? Something to get the kids going, ya know?
It’s wild to see guys like you and Brian Baker go from “first” bands, then launch into these iconic bands (bad religion was already a thing before Brian, but he landed there and has been there for a very long time). Plus super cool side projects like Charger!
Bro, the way you kinda gave a simple run down of the licks and shit before you actually played the song is great. Keep doing that. I'm not saying to do a breakdown or tutorial of every song, but just giving some commentary on riffs or parts of particular interest is super insightful and cool as shit. Any information I can glean from you is pure gold. Maybe a quick little anecdote about you and Lars, or Tim coming up with a riff, or something. Whatever you want to share, I'll be more than stoked to listen. Anyway, you're doing good. You're format is coming together. I love it. Much love. Be well.
I know it has to be a coincidence, but me mentioning a microphone in the last video's comments, and here he is with a microphone on his shirt collar, that and this video just made my day.
Did you played with downstrokers from the start or just evolved in time, 'cose man, this is clockwork! Well, for sure this videos are the most "myth buster" stuff since you can't find much live stuff to clear the mistery around how they're played. Love your work! ❤
Matt should have a "bass bunker" T-Shirt for sale with "thanks for watching, I really appreciate it" on the back :)
"so there you go" on the sleeve
@@iocat I'm Matt Freeman...🔥
Bass Bunker shirts is a great idea

Love the old school rock n roll chord progression and the boogie style bass on this one. a little bit reminiscent of Radio Havana
In a world of pitch-correction and auto-tune, it's so refreshing to hear the warmth of real human music presented, flubs and all!
Thanks "MAESTRO" 🙏
Love this song. It took me back to the and out comes the wolves days.

Favorite track on “Honor is all we know” and you guys should DEFINITELY put it in your setlist on your next tour.
“It’s not perfect” Matt F. Yeah it’s pretty close to perfect. Don’t sell yourself short this is amazing.

Love how the channels evolving! Any behind the scenes stories and things like your writing process means alot to lifelong rancid fans!
Look at you with a dedicated mic. Channels really getting more "professional" with every episode. Awesome stuff
It's absolutely perfect even when it's not perfect. Thanks for sharing Matt!
Great to hear about the writing process. Thanks Matt
Love what you are doing here. Keep on rocking.
Love your bunker and your playing. Introduced you guys to my daughter in Minneapolis in August. Gotta request...Let Me Go. Love the baseline in it
"Ok, let's see if we can pull this one off!" sounds alot like a motivational motto to me! Thanks! ❤

Great video!! Being able to hear the bass line without the guitar and drums is incredibly helpful!!
Great. :)
Love this!!! Really fun to see your process
rock and roll!!!
dude.... you are just the best... your smiles while you play are infectious...
do y'all record your albums live or one instrument at a time?
Best song on that record!
I love getting home from work and a new video from you is what pops up first.
Thanks Matt! Thursday is my favorite day!

Thx for uploading Matt!!!
Love this album
Amazing!
Matt, did you play with the silencers? I can't remember
Have you ever recorded a song in an alternative tuning?
Please do a Maxwell Murder solo tutorial/breakdown
great bass playing went slightly entwhistle i liked that
Matt, are you gonna showcase that dark 6 string beauty/oddity hanging on your wall? 👀
Matt please do Maxwell Murder!!!
Sounds way better than album version with more prominent bass . It’s too drowned out by the guitar on the album version
As rad and essential Tim and Lars are; Rancid wouldn’t be Rancid without Matt.
1998 or A Clockwork Orange Please.
Still not sure why he hasn’t changed the name of the channel to ‘Matt Freeman and the Basstards’. But now I see it spelled out I understand why.
