1994. Was 16 and saw Rancid three times throughout that spring and summer.. 1st was just went to the show by chance.. and had never heard rancid.. mind was blown. Good times.
I was 12 years old when Let’s Go came out, I’m 42 now and I still listen to it regularly. One of my favourite albums ever even after 30 years of listening to it.
Not sure what equipment Brett is using here, but the band used this same studio and engineer for their 2000 self-titled album, and you can hear the similarities in the drum sounds for sure.
This is exactly what I want to see. Some background on the song and how it was recorded, how you approached it and what you do different now live. I can’t count the number of times I have heard this song from playing this album over and over. Now I get to see how it’s played up close. Thanks Matt!
Haha love it how you go "off piste" with your songs!! I have a habit of doing the same when blasting thru Rancid tunes myself... keeps things interesting.. 😎👍
These longer videos with a bit of instruction are amazing. Thanks, Matt! It’s great to see some of the riffs slowed down and without the ‘backing music’. Harry Bridges is a great song too. These videos are gems 🙂
Love how Matt loves bass av played the bass for 25 years now big fan of rancid since I was 15 years old wish I could play like Matt please come an do more gigs in England rancid 😂😂🍺🍺🏴
Ha! That's awesome. I never thought about the entwhistle thing, but now that you mention it, I'll never unhear it. I mean, My Generation? Hell ya. That's basically Rancid. You're the man, man. Much love. Cheers. Also, got dangit, that bass sounds killer.
This song always brings back good memories from the summer of 1998, when we were traveling around Europe, and Let's Go was the only album we listened to that entire month.
Over and over again the doors are locked and the windows are broken. One of my favorite slower tracks off that record. Matt, could you PLEASE feature the Rancid song Ghost Dance. It's one of my favorite unreleased tracks. The bass line is perfect on that track.
I cannot overstate how much I enjoy the new format for the channel…. The play-throughs and back story are absolute gold! One thing I would love to see in the future is the process of writing bass lines for new songs. Are you just sitting down pulling root notes from the guitar chords and creating fills around them, or how do you come up with such unique and amazing lines? Love the channel, keep it up!!
Love that you're mixing up the albums so much, would love to see Rejected, Not to Regret or Axiom, such killer bassage. Funny i think that LP is the same as i have, the original double white vinyl 10", one of my most prized records. Much love Matt
Mr. Freeman sir unacceptable to show a little human mistakes within your catalog of a bazillion songs you have to recall. 😂 it was great as usual sir and thank you. To make time for us while your kid is practicing is awesome and we thank you for giving us your time. Have you done “officer” yet? That bass line is super rad! From a US Navy Veteran
Great video as always. Love how you go through and talk about your bass parts before you play along. Also, when you were playing the parts by themselves I could definitely hear some John Entwistle. So rad that you put those little touches in to honor John.
This is not my dream of meeting you, but, living in Uruguay i'm pretty sure this is the closest I would get. So, please, keep em' coming, and consider some merch, t-shirts, stickers, anything
just killer man, and i gotta comment again saying that ive sat down a few times in the past few years trying to lay down Bad Trip Auntie Christ and would fuckin love to see a play through. Maybe itll be something new for some fans that havent dug that much into some deep cuts youve done. cheers!
Amazing! Thanks so much for playing and explaining. Have you got an acoustic bass? Maybe play one of the acoustic song versions you’ve recorded with Tim?
Always been really interested in the song Brad Logan. Ha. How did that come about? Was it recorded specifically for chef-aid and did Issac Hayes really sing with you guys or was that done in post? Ha. Great song. I would love to see it done. Take care, people.
Love the new format of picking the song apart before you play and giving a little history. It's by no means the most well known or complex Op Ivy song, but I've always liked Bad Town? That'd be an unusual deep cut to hear. Or Take Warning.
1994. Was 16 and saw Rancid three times throughout that spring and summer.. 1st was just went to the show by chance.. and had never heard rancid.. mind was blown. Good times.
Matt Freeman doesn't make mistakes, he makes improvements
😅
Seeing Matt having a laugh while playing a song from 30+ years ago is everything I need in this world.
I just really wish I had the same smile while playing the bass :)
I was 12 years old when Let’s Go came out, I’m 42 now and I still listen to it regularly. One of my favourite albums ever even after 30 years of listening to it.
Brett's snares always absolutely slapped.
His snare's sound on Let's Go is still my favorite snare sound of all time
@@hopelessaquarian 100%. So good! Pops so nicely.
He fits so well in rancid
Not sure what equipment Brett is using here, but the band used this same studio and engineer for their 2000 self-titled album, and you can hear the similarities in the drum sounds for sure.
I like Brandon, but no doubt the Brett era was just perfect. His style is unique. They should try to emule that sound more often.
This is exactly what I want to see. Some background on the song and how it was recorded, how you approached it and what you do different now live. I can’t count the number of times I have heard this song from playing this album over and over. Now I get to see how it’s played up close. Thanks Matt!
Same, I love seeing him explain the process and how he plays things differently from the record.
For a bass player, this channel is gold.
Giving a quick bass line tutorial is a nice addition. Please keep it up!
This somg has been stuck in my head since 94'
Every track on “Let’s Go” is 1 of the greatest for 1 of the best albums released then!!!!

Thanks Matt most fun you can have watching the Bass Bunker
Yes!!! This was one of the first Rancid songs I fell in love with. This and Black and Blue sucked me into music for LIFE!
Love that Entwistle inspired lick. Killer.
Let's Go has so many fun songs
Очень нравится песня Harry Bridges! Не знал, что стиль исполнения The Who так же оказали влияние. Спасибо, Мэтт!
Haha love it how you go "off piste" with your songs!! I have a habit of doing the same when blasting thru Rancid tunes myself... keeps things interesting.. 😎👍

Love seeing you smile while playing.
Matt Freeman is human and makes mistakes?! 😲

I'd love to see anything and everything from the debut album of Rancid.
That was fun. It's hilarious that your mistakes still sound great. It's awesome that your kid is a drummer. We know where he gets his rhythm from.
Free lessons from one of the best bass players on how he plays his songs…..priceless big thanks Matt you rule!!!
Thank you Matt! Long live The Bass Bunker! Would love to see a video breaking down Axiom. -jRay
Thanks masterrrrrrrrrrr 🇦🇷 come back to Argentina! Viva Rancid

Over and over again the doors are locked and the windows are broken.
One of my favorite slower tracks off that record.
Matt, could you PLEASE feature the Rancid song Ghost Dance. It's one of my favorite unreleased tracks. The bass line is perfect on that track.
Absolutely LOVE the inclusion of each part you are playing before the actual play through.
Matt Freeman= G.O.A.T. 5he master in his domain with his instrument that is an extension of him! He is the bass!!!
I cannot overstate how much I enjoy the new format for the channel…. The play-throughs and back story are absolute gold! Also see you and Charger on the 8th!!
The passion that goes into his playing is amazing, his face says it all
Fuck yea, one of my favorites but that whole album is great from front to back
Over and over again, Matt Freeman vamps on his tricky basslines
Love that you're mixing up the albums so much, would love to see Rejected, Not to Regret or Axiom, such killer bassage. Funny i think that LP is the same as i have, the original double white vinyl 10", one of my most prized records. Much love Matt
Matt… Damn man, Another killer vid. Finally seeing the Who thing in your playing. Would never of looked back without you ranting bout em
Really enjoyed this one! I like to hear you breaking down and explaining, in addition to playing through the song.
It was perfect to me. Thx for doing these. You are definitely my personal favorite bassist.
I LOVE the bass bunker videos!
Matt the maestro!!!
I'm dying to see him play 1998!
What a great bass line. Really is what makes this good a song a GREAT song.

Mr. Freeman sir unacceptable to show a little human mistakes within your catalog of a bazillion songs you have to recall. 😂 it was great as usual sir and thank you. Awesome tune ! That album really still holds up. Wanna say I saw you guys in Philly w/ Fugazi on that tour ? Maybe it was before Let's go was out idk.
just killer man, and i gotta comment again saying that ive sat down a few times in the past few years trying to lay down Bad Trip Auntie Christ and would fuckin love to see a play through. Maybe itll be something new for some fans that havent dug that much into some deep cuts youve done. cheers!

Hey Matt, can you do some Devils Brigade stuff , cheers from the UK
truly my bass hero!!!
Any chance to see/hear one of Devil's Brigade? Wanna see you playing upright bass (maybe desperate times? 😊)
It would be awesome if you could do a video on the song “Let’s Go” from the same album. My favourite song of yours.
I Love the new intro.
Any chance on getting a MDC bass video? Feel like most people don’t even know you had a stint with them
Amazing! Thanks so much for playing and explaining. Have you got an acoustic bass? Maybe play one of the acoustic song versions you’ve recorded with Tim?
Thanx for all Matt
Always been really interested in the song Brad Logan. Ha. How did that come about? Was it recorded specifically for chef-aid and did Issac Hayes really sing with you guys or was that done in post? Ha. Great song. I would love to see it done. Take care, people.
What do I want to see? Well shit, Matt, I'll take whatever you got!
Love the new format of picking the song apart before you play and giving a little history. It's by no means the most well known or complex Op Ivy song, but I've always liked Bad Town? That'd be an unusual deep cut to hear. Or Take Warning.
The first time I compared Paul McCartney's bass line on "Twist and Shout" to John Entwistle's when The Who covered it live, it blew my mind.
Matt is thee best.
U just got a new subscriber!! Much love homie. C ya in the pit...
Thanks Matt. can you do Bloodclot next?
I know this will sound very "hit" person, but, i want the salvation ohhhhhh, and if i fall back down... you are gonna help me back up again! Blessings
