Bridgestone S22 Review on a Honda CB650R | FEELS LIKE A DIFFERENT BIKE

  • Having ridden the lovely 2020 Honda CB650R for just over half a year, there are some things I wished it does better which is not entirely due to the bike itself. It came with Metzeler Roadtec 01 as stock tires which I do not agree for it to be fitting for this bike. Having only 2,800km on the clock, I decided to replace the stock tires to a more familiar hypersports tires being the Bridgestone Battlax S22 Hypersport.
This video covers my review of the S22 which I had covered roughly 500km under various conditions. Enjoy!

Due to their high price, you must be mandatorily satisfied with this kind of tyres.
Of course, the driving sensations will be very different from those you have with the genuine tyres.
Personnally, I still have the standard pair of Metzeler Roadtec01 on my CB and after 8,500 km they are not totally worn.
I drive normally, the roads in my country are very curvy and in a rather medium condition.
There are no highways and almost everywhere, the speed limit is generally of 80 or 90 kmh (50/55 mph).
I will probably put afterwards a pair of Michelin Pilot Power 1 or Continental Motion, they are cheap and efficient tyres for riding secure in almost all conditions, and for a rather long mileage.
The basis of the Honda CB650R is already very good (fork and rear suspension, and the overall weight is not too high), so if you put a high-quality tyres it will be obviously improved.
But it depends on how you use your bike, since most of us do not ride everyday in a racing mode, especially when road condition and traffic do not allow it.

Just picked up a set of these s22 for my 2020 z900abs ... the stock Dunlop’s back tire only lasted 5,500 miles which isn’t so bad , but I should of replaced it sooner , cause the back tire blew out on the freeway going almost 70 or 80 mph , I think they were too thin in the middle and might of pinched a 1/8 inch (maybe a bit more) hole that was too big of a hole to patch up without it leaking air , but lesson learned the hard way Could of been much worse of coarse , but replace your stock tires ASAP when you start to see a bunch of wear on them , going to enjoy these new s22 if they are anything like they say they are ..? Safe riding y’all , and thx for sharing your knowledge on this RUclips platform 💯❤️👌🏼🌊💪🙌🏼😉👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Wow scary man! Hope nothing happened to you when your tire blew out. How's the S22? One of my good friend is on a z900 as well and I remember he complained that the stock Dunlops are not very good, got them changed (cant remember to what).

I just installed these tires on my CB650R, and I get a little bit of wobble around 140~150km/h when I full throttle. Do you also experience that?
Other than that, these tires are fantastic. Literally feels like a whole new bike.

    • @RUBBERNMETAL

Definitely feels like a different bike! I don't notice a wobble around those speeds, it feels normal. Maybe you should get your tires rebalanced? It happened to me before where the weights fell off.

Hey buddy, I only have done 1,000km on them. So far loving it but I have to say it may not be as free rolling as a Michelin pilot road 5 (I have these on my other bike) probably because it is made of stickier compound. But it’s a small observation. So far I’m really happy with it.

Show me the damn straight behind view of the tire man! I wanna see how wide or narrow its design is. Some tires sized for example a 180/55 actually doesnt measure that wide and instead more 170 and when fitted looks like a 160/55 instead of a 180 etc..
