    Been thinking between these 2. Your review did help a lot. I am riding a Tiger 900 and its a great Adventure bike. Though it is a bit heavy for me since i have my lower backache. I am living n and off with herniation. Then I think now that will try a lighter bike, and cb500X seems matching my intention. I tried it. Better maneuvering, easier cornering, comfortable seating etc. i like everything about it except it is a bit less power for me. Maybe I’ve got used to bigger engines. At the same time, the cb650r provides great power, very exciting feel, and the rev sound, excellent! But when i tried it, i feel less comfortable seating that might make hurt my back for a long ride. Your input on this point is much appreciated! Many thanks

    This is the best review I’ve found on this topic! Realistic and honest and helpful. In Australia And NZ the CB650r is limited to half the power to make it usable for learners. And at 6’2” it looks like the cb500x is a no brainer for me for a first bike. I just love the look of the cb 650r, I think it’s the best looking bike out there! Also we can’t get a full powered 650r here, so you can’t upgrade. You can get the air intakes changed and the cpu remapping but that could be an insurance issue and technically make the bike illegal as it’s a modification. Anyway for now thanks to you the cb500x looks the way to go, and it’s cheaper too! In a few years when I have more experience I may just have to jump to a cb1000r for more power with those incredible looks!
    Good luck with the Chanel mate.

      Hey thanks for the comment you made my day! I feel it’s weird that the full power (not that it’s that fast 😂) CB650R isn’t available in aus and NZ, yea best not to mess about on anything that will be an insurance problem.
      I would go for the 500 as well if I were you, I had a 500R it was an awesome bike but I needed something more after a few years. now there’s a CL500 that looks like a bonneville if you’re keen on the more classic look.
      The CB1000R is definitely something to aim for in the future - it’s a lot of power and it makes it seem too friendly in a way.

    I really like my cb500f. It fits like it was made for me. I’m 5’5, female. It just hugs my legs and I sink into it. I lean on the tank. It’s pretty powerful for around town and highways. Good gas mileage. 55-64 ish mpg. More or less, depending on your driving. Very nice bike.

    I've heard the turning radius on the 650r isn't that great. What do you think about a slightly higher and wider bars for comfort and leverage?

    • @RUBBERNMETAL
      @RUBBERNMETAL  Год назад

      It’s not the best I believe. Having higher bars will make it easier to manoeuvre I guess but the trick with this bike being heavy is the balancing act countering the bike’s weight at slow speed turns.

    Hi. I have a question. I have had the new cb650r and it is an awesome bike. I love this bike. so easy to ride it but the the reaction of the throttle surprised me after the duke 125. I am under the break in period and it consumes relatively much petrol related to my duke. fuel consumption will be better after breaking period? My question can be naive because i know this is a much more powerful bike. I am just curious what an experienced cb650r owner says. thanks.

    • @RUBBERNMETAL
      @RUBBERNMETAL  3 года назад +2

      Hi there that’s a good question. I don’t notice any fuel consumption difference between before and after break in of my CB650R. I usually get 18-20km per liter. How much do you get?
      I had scooters before a long time ago but never really monitored the fuel consumption so I never really compared. But for a ‘big bike’ the Honda is pretty economical. I have a Ducati monster that I can’t get more than 15km per liter. I had a tuned GSXR600 previously I couldn’t get more than 12km per liter.

    If you want traveling the cb500 its better bike. So its different bike in my opinion.The one its 2 cylinder so its better and in town and can handle the highways. The cb650 its look like fun bike 4 cylinder need more rpms and the summer you will have problem with warm legs.I think the cb500x can handle every situation on traveling for 300-400 kilometres and more with pillion and luggages. But the cb500x its one allaround bike for me and for my country. If you need faster have a lot of bikes if you need economical you can see 125. if you need traveling you can find better bikes.but cb500can do all enough good .but no perfect.

    • @RUBBERNMETAL
      @RUBBERNMETAL  3 года назад +2

      I agree the Cb500x is a very good all rounder at a good price point. I’m trying to find something similar but they’re all either too small or too expensive. Out of all the Cb500 range I think the setup and engine character suits the bike best on the CB500X too it’s definitely one where you can take for cruising.
      You should try the Cb650r though, the torque comes in particularly early for a 4 cylinder bike. It’s not a typical 4 cylinder character and I’m really enjoying it. I disliked the lack of usable torque at low rpms on my previous Suzuki GSXR600. The CB is much better.

    Dah setahun lebih guna CB650R. Boleh kata puas hati, langsung takde masalah. Cuma, rasa macam nak kena downgrade lah ke CB500X. Setakat ni memang itulah keputusannya. Tapi masih berfikir lagi.
    Isnin-Jumaat kerja dari rumah. Nafsu nak ride tu datang memang time weekend je. Bila weekend je mesti nak ride jauh. At least 100 km ke atas, nak naik highway PLUS. Dah jarang bawak CB650R dalam town.
    So setakat ni akan guna CB650R jelah ke mana-mana walaupun ride long distance. Hari tu balik dari KL ke Kedah pun naik motor ni. Tak pasang windshield sebab nanti dah balik KL kena bukak balik, rasa hodoh Neo Sports Cafe ni masuk windshield tinggi2😂 Malas nak bukak pasang.
    Jadi bila dah ride jauh dgn motor naked ni, angin tu faham2 lah. Memang penat. Sekarang ni bergantung pada core workout & juga earplugs. Maintain 2 benda ni dapat la kurangkan sikit penat tu.
    Bro rasa macam mana? Orang macam saya ni lagi patut pakai CB500X kan? Tak minat kelajuan sangat. Tapi kadang2 macam layan gak 4 inline CB650R. Tapi kalau fikir overall, jiwa macam lagi suka jalan jauh, nak riding position yg selesa, santai2, layan highway tenang2. Umur belum 30 lagi tapi taste motor taste warga emas🤣
    Taubat taknak test ride CB500X tu. Dah la yg version 2022 ni banyak dah upgrade. Takut bila dah teracun tu takde ubat dah😭😭 Nak tido malam pun selalu terganggu selagi belum dapat motor idaman ni😭😭
    Dalam dilemma teruk ni. Rasa macam dah kena jumpa psychiatrist pulak😭😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣

    I went to a Honda dealer and look for a 2022 CB500F or CB650R. After test ride I bought the 500F. The 500 twin may be boring compared to the I4 on the 650 but it more comfortable to ride and more suitable for my needs. But I think the CB500F is a little bit overpriced.

      @RUBBERNMETAL  Год назад

      Congrats on your purchase, I wouldn’t say the I2 is boring I had fun with my 500R and to be honest I had a hard time finding excuses to sell it for an ‘upgrade’.
      Honda is slightly overpriced if you look at purely on paper. But the value is reflected over longer term where you’d see the difference in the bike’s quality and simplicity of owning it.

      @@RUBBERNMETAL I know what you think about the price. That's why I choose the 500F instead of something like Z650. The 500F has cheaper spare parts, less fuel economy, more reliable. About the engine, I mean it is boring compared to the I4 on the 650. But it is still solid for me. The 650 is more excited but only if it reach its power band and it is too fast for my commuting. The 500 is just a perfect sweet spot between going fast and going comfy. Honda should keep that engine forever.

      @@cxn_media price depends on country as different countries have different bikes available and different tax structure. In Malaysia the price for a 500F is close to a Z650, SV650 and a conti GT 650, so it is on the high side considering the output and class. It is no doubt quick enough for most things being reasonable.
      I remember going to the bike shop with the intent to buy a ER6F but ended up with a CBR500R as my first bike purely on looks and feel.
