I went to Metal super markets yesterday. I picked up some 12 foot aluminum stock. Worked great. No issues. I did put a red reflector on the back so drivers will pay attention.
A couple of small casters at the rear would ease any clearance tail dragging that might occur with that much stick out when going over a curb, backing etc. Nice project that ought to 'get her done'. Take care. Doug
Greetings from UK, just found your great channel, looks like a fantastic extender👍 I'm looking to make a support for a kayak from my tow hitch so the kayak comes level with the roof
Here you go. 2x2 1/8" thick square tubing. The extension is 55 inches long. The top support is 30" long. The center support is 11.5". Your support may need to be longer or shorter depending on the distance between your hitch and tailgate.
Great video I have a 8ft box on my truck I have a back flip cover and I can’t install ladder racks with a bed extender like this what’s the longest ladder I could carry over the tailgate .
Thank You for the instructional video. Also, you have a nice shop. Have A Good Day! 👍🏼
Thanks for watching!
Hey look a blast from the past. Big difference between your old shop and your new one.
Ha ha! Yeah 3 times the space and a bunch more machines.
That is neat idea for long stuff, I normally use my 10 foot trailer for that.

Thanks for watching.
Put some tail lights on it, looks good. I may have to build one for my sons truck to transport a kayak.
Used it today. Worked great.

Glad you found me and enjoy the projects. I try to post a new video once a week.
Hi Tom, great having a welder in the shop. Any chance of a wee walk round your shop. Kindest regards. Joe.
Yes sir. Shop tour video is coming. Trying to get caught up on a couple of projects first.
Years ago when I was limited to a half ton truck I made a half rack. I could haul 20 ft pcs on rack and over top of closed tailgate.
What are the chances you can provide the cut list with measurements? hahaha... Looks really well built 👍
I can get some thing together for you.
