On July 31, in the men's 81 kg weightlifting final of the Tokyo Olympics, 37-year-old Chinese athlete Lu Xiaojun won the championship with 170 kg snatch, 204 kg clean and jerk, and a total score of 374 kg. The snatch, clean and jerk, and total scores all broke the Olympic Games Record.
Very nice documentary!Weightlifting deserves these things.Deserves the "King of Sports" title. The most demanding sport requiring agility, strength, speed, concentration among others and all those at the highest value. No fancy clothes and arrogant athletes.Humble and hard working modern Hercules guys! We love weightlifting!
Profesional sports at its best are all on so high level you must using lets say enhancers for your body to get to that level. Athletes use the enhancers because the competition is crazy and there are a lot of money for medals. Simple as that.
Funny to see in 2015, Dmitry Klokov had hopes of winning gold then the same comity (IWF) that made a documentary starring him decides to ban the Russian lifters, sort of disheartening.
When will we stop pretending that high-level and pro athletes aren’t all using PEDs? It’s been that way for decades in most sports and about 70 years in Olympic weightlifting.
Worth the wait! Brilliantly produced, shame there was no Ilya, but it's really motivating! Can feel a 200KG Snatch coming tomorrow morning :-) THANKS IWF!
This documentary was made 6 years ago.. cant believe Lu Xiaojun is still the best one all over the world....He just won another gold medal in Tokyo Olympics 2021 😂😂😂 Congratulations! Lu Xiaojun!
The best video that i never saw in my whole life, this define the weight lifting in all forms. weightlifting will be always the best sport in the whole world!
Great documentary, I really enjoyed it, specially because it shows different approaches to the art of weightlifting. In future features, I would enjoy seeing Illya Illin and Lydia Valentin. Thanks for the film IWF!
i do a lot from bodybuilding, powerlifting or even a little bit of crossfit no "bs movement like flapping pull ups etc" but i fell in love with weightlifting.
such a nice video..weightlifting it is so addictive...once you try it you never can quite...even though you retire it you will always be one of them...a lifter...
I appreciate that the U.S. wasn't even mentioned once in this documentary for 2 reasons: The U.S. sucks at weightlifting and The U.S. sucks at weightlifting!
06livefast lol... but they started out by talking about Mexico (wtf?)... they also left out many renown WL countries like Bulgaria, Khazakhstan, Iran, North Korea, etc.
***** Yes, but it wasn't about acknowledging all the great countries, it was about talking about the future of Olympic Weightlifting and how Weightlifting has touched even the poorest and war-torn countries like Mexico and shown how the future is bright with Weightlifting. Also, to mention the Chinese and Russians (because they are currently the masters of Weightlifting) is only suitable, and finally to not mention the US at all in regards to Weightlifting is just out of respect for the sport and not sugar coating reality, because when you swallow that cup of pride, its not hard to see that the US is fucking garbage at anything besides Gymnastics, Track and Field, and coming in second for every time in hockey.
We have some great lifters... Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they suck. And yes, most Americans have little respect for oly lifting, but that doesn't defeat that there are some amazing lifters in the US.
Sam 22 The US has amazing weightlifters? Please, give me a list of current world champions we have. How many world record holders do we have? How many Olympic medals have we brought home in the 21st century? While many of us would like the US to be at the forefront, don't be delusional, our lifters don't necessarily bring fear into the eyes of the international weightlifting community. Perhaps in the future, but not today nor in the recent past.
***** Like others have said, 'Clair de lune'. It's a favorite of mine mainly because my mom used to play that on the piano quite frequently at home when I was growing up. Always love hearing it!
@11:06, the man in the red shirt watching Aukhadov lift is Gennady Anikanov, Klokov and Klokov's father's weightlifting coach. He is the coach Dmitry is talking about here.
great vid..but once again this documentary was still male dominant, there are so many great female weight lifters the IWF could have used...being a new subscriber to IWF...I've noticed that in a lot of their vids...
New to olympic weightlifting , im still a teenager , but i know what i want in life , a world title in this sport , this beautiful beautiful sport , ill work hard to get it
IWF ,You have to make The second part of the movie. And include other great athlets from Iran,Poland,Kazakhstan and ect. And even ,the third! And of course, thanks for your working.
I think its quite out of the ordinary that Lu can train at such a low body fat %. Even Klokov has a bit more bulk to him. The amount of tension his muscles take must be astronomical incl. the energy output since the Chinese train exceptionally hard. These guys are built for greatness.
"out of the ordinary" As in not natural, right? Dude's clearly on roids. Still a beast though. It's a shame the public demonizes PEDs and hence athletes lie about it.
