5.00 is my all time favourite classical song! Would love to hear the full peice when it's done! I'm saving for my first harp and would love to eventually be able to play that piece.
You are doing so well learning by yourself. You mentioned that you would like to take lessons. If you can’t find one locally that is a good fit for you there are great one on one lessons by accomplished teachers on line. For me that worked better than in person local. The local teacher and I didn’t mesh
Congratulations for making this video! You've done so well on the harp within one year! I especially like when you play and sing (in week six) - I'm not sure I could do this! So all the best you your harp-journey!!!!! Werner Hebeisen
Very interesting I've been playing by ear for some time and have built two harps and perchased 2 others it's nice to see your progress.thanks for sharing and the last part buy the fire was beautiful ❤️
Thanks for sharing your progress! My 1st harp will come to me in about 9 weeks. I think I will begin looking at music theory teachings until it arrives.
So beautiful and inspiring! I’m getting my 1st harp tomorrow. I had beginner piano lessons and beginner guitar lessons. My background is mostly voice lessons and performance. I probably won’t learn as quickly as you have, but your video was so encouraging. I also will be trying to learn mostly on my own. Did you join a community or use specific resources you could share for getting started on the basics and finding music to play?
Funny enough, my background is voice and piano! Best thing about learning the harp is that it sounds beautiful even if you play the wrong note haha! I learned mostly from RUclips videos and Pamela Bruner's Play The Harp Beautifully beginner books! They helped a lot!! But mostly, I just fiddled around a lot until I found a song I really wanted to play, then I tried finding Piano sheet music that I could use for the harp. It doesn't always work, but its a fun process either way! Congrats on your new harp and I hope you love it a lot
Great video and wonderful to see you progress so well and so quickly. Your finger positioning is pretty much perfect in my eyes. Also I love your harp (I have the same!). Can you advise how you recorded your journey as the quality is perfect. I have been learning for a year now and I have put up one video so far on youtube. However, the quality of my video sounds awful compared to yours. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Absolutely amazing. You are an inspiration to all who watch this video. Could you share where you found that version of Claire de Lune for the Harp? I've been looking for a simple version for a late beginner or early intermediate player.
I’m sorry for never responding! I actually had an old piano sheet (original notation) and just sorta adapted it to what I could do on the harp 😅 I’m sure there is an intermediate edition out there though!
You've done so well! I got a harp just over a year ago and have been tracking my progress (trying not to compare is hard!) Did you/ will you get a teacher?
Youre learning fast but I think most of it has to do with that have a background in music. I would like to find a video like this on someone who does not have a background. A complete novice so I can relate too and see if its possible to learn on my own.
ingrid R I understand completely! Learning from absolutely scratch is definitely daunting. My advice is to just try! Everyone starts from the beginning after all :) I just happened to start with piano.
This is an amazingly video of someone’s progression in less than a year with absolutely zero musical background : facebook.com/groups/691971634572993/permalink/921670491603105/
I would really like to start with arp but the thing that is stopping me, if I understood correctly, is that you cannot modulate to other keys because of the tuning of the instrument. I'm pretty sure I would feel limited.
If the harp has pedals or levers you can change the key easily enough. If there are neither then you must retune the strings accordingly, but depending on the key and the size of the harp, that's not a huge deal. It might just mean 4 b-strings, or 4 f-strings, which doesn't take long. But accidentals will be unavailable. You could just set your harp to a favorite key. But a levered harp is not much more cost than the same model, without levers. Especially if you only get levers on select notes rather than all the strings.
Hi Krystal! Here's some of the tracks played. Most of the practice pieces were from Pamela Bruner's Play the Harp Beautifully self-teaching books, level 1 and 2. The other tracks: Day Five - Can't Help Falling In Love with You End of Week 2 - Dearly Beloved from Kingdom Hearts Week Four - Breath of Air by Christy-Lyn (ruclips.net/user/christylynmusic) Week Five - Sailor Moon Theme (Moonlight Densetsu) Week Six - Falling Slowly from the movie Once Week Seven - Somewhere in Time Movie Theme End of Month 2 - Claire de Lune by Debussy Month 3 - Ancient Stone by Jeremy Soule (from Skyrim) Month 6 - Colors of the Wind from Pocahontas Month 7 - Whispering by Lisa Lynne Month 8 - Night Sky by George Winston Month 9 - Heartstrings by Rolf Løvland (Played by Secret Garden) End of 2019 - O Come O Come Emmanual
You sound really good from the beginning to end. Did you use gut strings? What type of harp do you have? Thank you. 🙏 🎶...is this a dusty string boulevard with gut?
Carmen Freeman thank you so much! The bottom octave are steel and the rest are nylon that came with the harp. This is the Dusty Strings, Ravenna 34 floor harp. I think it has a great sound, but having gut strings would definitely give it a nice sound as well!
Eirini Tsiarta it depends on where you live! I was fortunate to live closer to a physical store, but yes you can absolutely purchase online! It just might take some tuning and TLC once it gets to your door.
Week 6 listening was amazing
Thanks so much for responding and the advice. Thanks you , im very excited, feels like a dream come true ❤ now i just need to put in the hard work😊💝🎶
i gotta say, your song choices are very unique. ps i loved ur vid
You did fantastic. I'm getting my Very First Harp very soon. And your video Inspired me more.
Angel Of Heaven yay!!!! The harp is so much fun. I hope you enjoy it!
I recommended a 33 or 34 string harp.
So beautiful! It's so cool to see the progression in each part of the video. I hope you're loving your harp! Keep up the amazing work!

You are an inspiration! Was the Sailor Moon Theme song in that book? I’m interested n getting that book for myself.
I played it by ear just for giggles, but I’m sure there is a rendition out there!
Keep it up, you’re sounding great! What song is that on 7:27? It’s beautiful. 🌺
Night Sky by George Winston! It’s a lovely piano piece ❤️
How often did you practice? This was really good !!!
I try to practice a little everyday ❤️
You've done so well! I got a harp just over a year ago and have been tracking my progress (trying not to compare is hard!) Did you/ will you get a teacher?
I haven't gotten a teacher in person yet, but I do a lot of the online tutorials by Learning the Harp on youtube!

Did you play instruments before the harp?
Yes! I studied piano and violin in middle/high school, and then went to music school for voice. It definitely helped my progress on the harp haha!
Could you please tell me your harp details
Do you know where i can buy myself a floor harp like yours? But online?
Eirini Tsiarta it depends on where you live! I was fortunate to live closer to a physical store, but yes you can absolutely purchase online! It just might take some tuning and TLC once it gets to your door.
@@mt07_cas thank you!!
