The way I jumped when you said my name like I didn’t submit a question. I’m forever doomed to be an awkward black girl, lol. Thank you for answering. It’s cool how into science you are. If you ever did do a hair line, it will definitely come in handy.
Girl being a smart black from the Upstate in SC is so intimidating because that oreo label is soooooo loud. It followed me for years, I'm sure it still does in some ways. I'm glad people are finally coming outta that mindset.
Such a sad mindset because it makes black people scared to achieve in a way that is not "socially acceptable" for a black person to achieve; the fact that the stigma is perpetuated by our own people just makes it that much worse! I've definitely heard my fair share of "you talk so white!!".😮💨
@@galatea5455 for sure! it’s such an interesting concept when you think about it. it goes so far back in our history. the origins of it are very sad when you really consider our history here in America.
I was called an Oreo for years ( hey fellow SC girlie) and it was annoying AF. My intelligence and my love of learning doesn't conflict with my blackness. Like, black folks can't even just do well without getting criticism 😵💫 it's less of a hurt now and more of an annoyance when certain micro ( and rarely macro) aggressions happen in my job now, but it's just like "really? Someone has to explain why this is low-key racist to you at your big age?" Idk, just a rant to echo your annoyance.

i felt every single answer, ESPECIALLY the one about speaking up to the ones close to you. i have and have always had such a hard time letting close friendships/relationships know how they make me feel because i don’t want it to be an argument or any sort of difference in the relation. it gets to the point where i endure so much of it that when i’m finally fed up i just disappear 😭 and it’s NOT RIGHT! but it’s an easy escape and the thought of communicating that person’s actions and how they affect me gives me extreme anxiety. some friendships and relationships were meant to fade, but there are definitely a few that i’ve ruined because i can’t speak tf up
Lowkey some people you know in your heart that if you bring it up they either won’t change or the energy shift will feel off and they’ll subtly make you feel guilty so you just leave. Bids for connection are usually either ignored or noted and you’re made to believe you’re dramatic. I’d rather walk away.

Loved this so much! To the question about finding your passion..... this may be a bad take, but as a 40 year old woman I'd say finding a career you're passionate about is a trap. Many people who go unto a field they're passionate about eventually get tired of it. Career-wise, find something you like or are neutral about (and you're good at) that will give you the financial stability to pursue your passions in your downtime. 😊
I agree with getting an assistant! Consider teaming up with the local colleges to get interns. Students work free for experience to be able to put in on their resume. Approach a college that has a communications major. The school need not be local. HBCUs are a perfect start!! I’m a Spelman College graduate and SC has a very strong arts department. I recommend SC!

To the person Empress S, find an apprenticeship! They have a lot in tech and other fields for people in your situation and you get paid to learn while also building skills. By the end you have work experience and if you don’t like it you can still switch to new careers.

How much of that is the product and how much is genetics. Bc i have very dry 4c hair and I don't want to believe that this will work for me
I’m not sure honestly but I think that genetics may make some ppl have slower growing hair and it may require them more effort to reach a certain length however I think it is possible for everyone to grow their hair long, you just need to find products for your hair porosity and minimize breakage/manipulation/damage.
