During Miles' interrogation of Uncle Buck , John Candy wrote out the script's dialogue, and wore it atop his head when the camera was on Miles. Macaulay Culkin couldn't read the lines quick enough, and was going to be replaced until Candy came up with this workaround
Definitely one of John Candy’s best roles. I saw an interview with his daughter and she said her dad pretty much WAS Uncle Buck. So it was probably one of the easiest characters for him to play.
@@BrettJW Same here. When Chadwick died I was the same age, and THAT hit really hard. Here I've done nothing for the world and these guys are the ones gone.
@@judethaddeus9856 Especially the Q&A scene with his nephew. That was awesome. Still, a pancake that size is a dream come true for a little kid. And grown ups, too
It's a classic film image that makes you smile, but also kind of shed tears because you just remember how charming, warm-hearted, charismatic, and especially funny he is. We need people like him in this world.
Wow guys. I'm really glad you liked the tapestries. Thank you so much for the kind words. No kidding, you two can make tough days a lot easier and I thank you for that. Enjoy the gifts and I look forward to this October's pics and all your reactions. ✌️
John candy was genuinely a good person. When filming only the lonely he gave maureen o hara his personal trailer when she discover she had a leak in the roof of hers. Since she was an older lady he felt that she didnt deserve water in her trailer.
Somebody, I think it was Ebert, talked about John always thinking badly of himself. It kills me that someone who everybody loves would feel worthless. He single-handedly has brought so much good into the world.
Friend of mine was in Toronto at the Olive Garden and John Candy came in and made the rounds around the room cracking jokes with everyone there giving them his time. He was a charming and funny guy in real life as well as on screen.
To see Macauley Culkin in something different, check out ‘The Good Son.’ He’s still a young child, but he’s not playing the funny, amusing kid anymore but a different sort of child. Let’s just say, you wouldn’t want your kids playing with him. He does it so well, it gives you chills.
When I first saw this, I did not expect Buck to be responsible with the kids. From the moment he arrived he turned into the best uncle / father figure / housesitter / friend that everyone should have in their life. Fun fact - they originally wanted Danny DeVito for Uncle Buck. But boy did John Candy make this role his own.
Buck is often a nickname of William. Bug is a synonym for crazy. When someone is Bugs or Bugsy that usually means their crazy. Bugs Bunny = crazy wabbit.
Buck KNEW that as soon as Bug got what he wanted from Tia (sex) he was going to toss her aside and move onto some other angry teen age girl. And that is exactly what happened.
@DaleHardiman I think it's up to interpretation. Because essentially, we don't need to know the details if he did it with her. We just know for a fact he dumped her for someone younger. It's assumed he did since Tia tells Buck that all he said came true, and one thing he told her was that he was going to sleep with her. But hey, he got his payback.
Don’t worry about Culkin. He’s doing great these days, shows up a lot on the Red Letter Media youtube channel as a guest, he’s HILARIOUS, and he just recently had his first child 💖 Things really REALLY sucked, but they got better for him.
Very cool...I've aged alongside Culkin and I am happy he has overcome his demons and found some peace. I was just listening to RLM on Culkin's podcast in which Culkin gave Mike a spirit box lol.
Uncle Buck is one of my favorite movies ..... That pancake was a Masterpiece! And an added scene with a clown getting his clock cleaned was brilliant . Thank you both so much for your reactions and comments for Uncle Buck . As always I look forward to many more here .
Thanks for entertaining us! You never know who you are helping. Love hearing Larry's story. My husband passed away and you guys have made me laugh again. Thanks. Great reaction! 🙂
This is one of my all-time favourite films, ever since I was a little kid. Hilarious and heart-warming. The birthday pancakes: Mr Sandman: drilling the door open at the party and kidnapping the guy to teach him a lesson: the bowling: telling the little kid he’ll deal with the principal first: bonding with Tia: the one-sided argument on the phone: the bowling-ball when he’s trying to pack… Absolutely adore this film, was giggling along with you!
The part where the kids won't let her in the house until she showed them ID and proved she knew Buck is what inspired John Hughes to make "Home Alone".
YAY! The ever missed and adorable John Candy! My favourite movie of his, too. I'm so glad that you are watching this timeless classic and it remains one of our favourite family movies. I hope I can be a defending responsible parent like Buck. ^_^ Thanks John!
Buck Melanoma, Moley Russell's Wart! BTW you may not have recognized her, but you just saw the actress that that played Tia in Top Gun Maverick playing Iceman's wife. Hang tough, Larry! You're speaking for more people than you might realize!
I love the look Buck gives Bug after coming through the door with the power drill. As a dad with a daughter, damn right I keep a power tool in my car for just such a opportunity.
Loved your guy's reaction to this classic John Candy film! You guys should react to another one of Candy's best films, in my opinion. It's called "Only the Lonely" which co-stars Maureen O'Hara and Ally Sheedy. Macaulay Culkin also has a small part in the film as Candy's nephew.
John Candy was an amazing comedic actor weather he was in a supporting role or as the lead like this movie.... He was brilliant in Brewsters Millions and Cool Runnings.
Uncle Buck is one of my kids favorite movies... Man when I grew up I had all these great movies... My kids we're born in the wrong decade apparently. They love all my childhood movies and they really can't stand alot of the new ones.
Miles had his entire side story cut out. Buck would send him to school everyday with a weird lunch and Miles would trade with kids who thought he had cool items, like a jar of pickles, sardine sandwich or block of cheese. At the party the other kids were supposed to think Buck beat up the clown because clowns are for babies, they told the other kids about it, by the end Miles was supposed to be the coolest kid in school. All of it was left on the cutting room floor.
It's weird how Candy and Culkin were in each other's movies, but I don't remember it until I watch one of them again because they are not the protagonist. 😆 Another solid 80s-90s film. They don't keep it so simple, yet so funny anymore.
Mac Culkin is doing fine and living comfortably with all the money he made as a child. One of the few former child actors that grew up to be financially set for life.
Maculey Culkin sounds like he is doing well these. I know there were rumors that surfaced that he was doing drugs after some photos came out of him looking guant and skinny. But from what I know he has been on the up and up for awhile now. He genuinely seems like a cool person and relatively normal. Like, he sounds kind of like a nerdy hipster but it's still endearing.
I loved John Candy....he was so Funny, Sweet, Adorable, and amazingly Talented. my favorite movies are The Great outdoors,Who's Harry Crumb, Uncle Buck.,Only the Lonely....Cool Runnings
I love this movie too. It is so sad he died. But my favorite movie with him is Planes Traines and Automobiles. Love watching you too. Greetings and hugs from Germany, Heike ❤️
My mother reminds me of the heart John Candy displays in this movie as this character my mother was like John Candy and Meryl Streep had a kid it was pretty f****** nice to be raised by somebody that merciful but also someone who didn't let you get away with anything all she had to do was look at you and you knew you were trying hard enough

John Candy is one of those movie greats that I will, always miss. He was one of a kind. And in this movie the way he could switch from being the kindest silliest uncle, to a cold and, honestly, TERRIFYING, protector of his family was amazing! If John Candy was, genuinely, mad at me I would be in fear for my life. But if I knew he had my back, I feel like I could face anything.
This movie is such a classic. My younger brother was a lot like John Candy and he also passed away at a very young age. Every time I see John Candy it makes me think of my younger brother. They were definitely cut from the same cloth
I love Uncle Buck. I love John Candy and pretty much most of John Hughes' films were my childhood or damn close to something in it. To me it's just one of those movies I still go back to watching all these years later. While it's true it can be a bot sad thinking of all the loved ones I've lost that loved these films, I can still feel a bit of joy watching them and the memories they bring back. 🐾🐾🍻🍻

Big facts

Awww poor kid! Man! I couldn’t imagine this movie without him.

I mean a lot of John Candy’s characters were a big lovable guy.
RIP to John Candy, a true legend. I've always loved this movie. The jumbo pancakes is an iconic scene.
I just looked it up he died at 43, I’m now 44 that’s so sad

What’s iconic about fixing a big pancake????? Did you watch the movie in entirety?

Macaulay culkin is AMAZING in this. Seeing him get those giant bday pancakes lights up my eyes every time!
To see another side of Mac Culkin, they Have to check out The Good Son with Elijah Wood. Especially now that Halloween is so close

Absolutely loved this sweet family comedy!
Ayo Tim!! Funny seeing you here 😉
I LOVE this movie. Buck is an absolute legend. "Here's a quarter..." rofl.
I met John candy when I was in high-school and he was visiting some schools.
He was even more charming and kind than any film could convey.
One of mine and my mother's favorite movies! So many quotable lines in this movie. We lost John Candy way too soon!
"Here's a quarter, why don't you go downtown and hire a rat to gnaw that thing off your face?"
Greatest line in cinema history.

@@delwynklassen3644 Jacob's Ladder is a great movie and rare in that it's genuinely scary. He did a great job in it.

I liked him as Gucci's model this past year. He's definitely back baby
The role he has in this movie is what got him the Home Alone movies as Kevin
Reminds me of my childhood with these great 80s movies! This and The Great Outdoors were the best! John Candy was the goat, RIP Uncle Buck!
What's great about Buck's character is that it's practically a mirror image of Candy in real life, minus the dead beat parts.
FUN FACT: The actress who plays Marcie is the voice of Andy's mom in the Toy Story movies! :)
Everyone knows Aunt Jackie, don't they?
And Sheldon’s Mom from the Big Bang Theory…
