Love You and tfs mark!🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤
Mark, I like ya but please review Fire Punch. I've been asking for around a year and it's such a good manga by the same author as Chainsaw Man.
Yo what up
There trending like three reviews your opinion
You ever watched MistareFusion?
The idea that Popo could have easily eradicated Buu but chose not to is just too hilarious.
And that was only 50% of his power.
@@adams3560 Nah was only a hand of power. Got a whole lot more where that came from.
I loved that bit. As my wife and I watch through Dragon Ball and DBZ ive told her he is the strongest character in the universe, and cant help thinking of the pecking order.
We all know Popo is holding out on us, like this guy just casually holds back two Super Saiyan kids.
And Dende had to be the one to ask him for help. Otherwise the whole universe could go f*ck itself for all he cares.
i'd love to see tfs's version of some interaction between zeno and mr. popo
Vegito’s inability to say ‘Goku’ because of Vegeta’s will to not call him anything other than ‘Kakarot’ is the best thing ever

The Buu scene with "the voices he failed to save" was horrifying. Top notch nightmare fuel ending with a comedic yet still terrifying last bit, God I missed TFS.

Jokes aside, you're entirely right.
And you know it was actually the real character because unlike Cell's impression of Android 17, they were all spot on. Even Doordash guy!
So thankful that didn't happen in canon. Jesus Christ that would have fucked up SO many kids🤣
I'm watching in memory of Akira Toriama. RIP. The last bit of this video hits different now.
RIP the GOAT, I don’t think a lot of people understand how big of a hole he just left in our hearts. He had so much more to offer us.

1:47:17 hits hard. Every line swaps a language and I thought Dragon Ball was always a universal thing. But....going halfway across the world and climbing up a mountain in a third world country in a remote region.., I ran into a kid with a Goku backpack and smiled, said "Bueno Goku!", gave him a thumbs up and he gave it back. It really made me realize there's very few stories that have reached every end of the earth....and Dragon Ball is one of them.
Why am i crying in the Club rn
Were you by chance climbing a mountain to train with a hermit.
I love how Yajirobe is just like "ugh, fine" and halfheartedly raises one hand
it is an Amazing artistic choice well done
Goku is the most popular anime character in the world
Its funny to think that the period of time from the beginning of DBZA to its ending its almost the same period of time in-universe for DBZ. 15 years full of glory. Thank you TFS for all those laughs and TNM for giving us a glance of what could have been.
They even did the year long wait to match the HTC year
Maybe theyll come back after 7 years are up
Oh wow it was 15 years from Episode 1 to Episode 291😮
@@XDarksoulX1129I have always held a torch of thinking that after TFS finishes the creator commentary they would announce season 4. Even though I know it will never happen
I really thought that dbza would return after 7 years just like in the anime but this is so good as well
Am I the only one who tears up whenever the section about animators pops up? This is stuff most ppl would never be educated on, it feels like a real heroes roll call.
It's so rare for animators to get much recognition. I admit that the first episode I honestly felt like I was being told about a bunch of faceless names and companies that I wouldn't remember, but seeing the way they've changed, grown or dropped out over time has really changed the way I see animation as a medium.
@@TheD736Dragon Ball is one of the rare exceptions to this thanks to Ajay and some others
Leave it to Mark to help his friends finish their passion project. And as a result, give all of us DBZA fans some closure. 15 years, and everything finally feels right.
Buu healing the blind boy was honestly a very emotional moment. It shows us before Mr. Satan's intervention that Buu was only a misguided child. Curiously, according to the timeline guide of Dragon Ball Online, that boy, named Tommy, would later create an amusement park in his honor called "Buu World", in which most of its employers are Majin creatures
Never noticed that moment for what it was before. Glad I do now.
@lovesweetdreams yes, and we're talking about the fat buu who cured the blind boy.
I always enjoyed that scene. Especially how buu turns someone into a carton of milk just for the boy. Buu is like goku in that way, a dumb but kind hearted child with major power, and Mr. Satan set him on the path of good.
yep. as soon as buu came out the ball, everyone just attacked him. Dabura, then vegeta. Only Babidi was "nice" to him, LOL
It made me cry when I first watched it as a kid
That ssj3 scene with masako is utterly brilliant. The writing, the performance...just perfect.
"what's that smell" legitimately made me lol. Good payoff with "Super Dee Duper Saiyan"
Good lord the lungs on that brit
I'm so happy he got to do the scream. It's one of the moments which I was always looking forward to, and felt so sad thinking we were never going to hear it.
I love the little callback to Vegeta’s comment about achieving “Super DEE Duper Saiyan”
@EB081997 it’s easy the little sappy zaps (bzztzz) see?
1:30:00 The fact that SSj2 Goku vs Kid Buu is entirely filler, but happens to be one of the best pieces of animation in DBZ as a whole is kind of insane to think about. It also makes SSj3 Goku look like he was weaker fighting Kid Buu lol.
It's beautiful animation but definitely makes the beating SSJ2 Vegeta took stand out even more
Classics like DBZ should stay in animation; Live Actions reboots don't always honor the original anime series
@@SSGoatanks agreed
@@SSGoatanksCap, you can say the same about the anime adapting the manga. It's good if the people working on it love the series, and it's bad if they don't.
@@OkPe-ww5rs That's true, reading the manga also saves you a lot of time going past all the fillers. It's the true essence of a great series ❤🔥
Watching vegito effortlessly slap buu around was so cathartic. After episodes of braggadocio and absorbing his way to power and victory, seeing him impotently wiped was perfect.
SIR! We will fight you in a minute.
I feel that if Scott and Lani had the time and opportunity: they would've made Old Kai into a therapist.
Instead of the silly dances and meditation, it would be like telepathic talk therapy, where it goes into all of Gohan's trauma, blocks, and guilt and lifts them so he can tap into his Mystic form.
In Gohan's mind, it took years to unravel, but in Morty time, it only took an hour.
And then Old Kai gives him the bill.
The bill is just "now go waste Buu"
That's actually a great idea.
The dance is actually a 'rain dance' like thing to get the printer to work
Seeing Piccolo going from trying to kill Goku to getting mad at him being dusrespected is beautiful
Also a bit of Toriyama critiquing himself in the process. The Old Kai at this point, is LITERALLY the man kicking himself in the kaioshin having recently written himself in a corner thanks to a seemingly-unstoppable foe, that was meant to be the END of Z. The penultimate final challenge the next generation must face.
To be fair I think he would've killed anyone who dissed Goku back then
@GaiaX5 cell was never meant to be the end of Z, no if that's what you mean by that last bit
Lol, piccolo has always had some sort of respect for goku at least since raditz, so seeing him openly express his respect unlike he had before was funny
When does this happen?
Rest in peace, Akira Toriyama
Honestly crazy how despite all the flaws the arc had, they managed to end it in a fantastic way that is still memorable to this day. Thanks for finishing this, I’ve seen the show so many times but having it retold like this was really awesome

But then he doesn’t do crap!
In my eyes during this arc, Mr Satan is the most heroic character there. No other character is so completely outclassed in the entirety of dragon ball. Yet he is there at the final battle, pitching in, fighting for the sake of the universe.
I’m glad they chose to bring him in like that. Yeah he took the credit for Cell but he was there where no one else showed up except the Z fighters. He ran in there to get Vegeta to safety. He knew he didn’t stand a chance but he put his life in danger.
Mr. Satan is that guy
I always go back to a line in the Mr. Satan death battle. "Mr. Satan is the only character to have fought both Cell and Buu, and lived"
He really made me love him as a character because of this
You know, despite the theatrics early on with Cell, I think that was always an element to his character. He was always that kind of hero. He had no idea what he was getting into. He was convinced Cell had been pulling movie gags. He just wanted to help in any way he could. With the Buu incidents he now knows his limitations against these threats and is justifiably terrified yet still looking for opportunities to help save the world however he can. That he largely succeeds in all his endeavors and makes it so that his allies can pull a W shows a level of determination, tenacity, and grit that only someone like Goku can fully appreciate. Despite initial appearances, Mr. Satan is everything Goku values about martial arts.
Ok most heroic? Nah. Don't rob that from literally everyone who actually fought Buu

1:37:29 im SO glad im not the only who noticed how perfect kid buu was for goku in term of match up,him pretty much being emotionless and painless make it so goku can have the time of his life,it makes uub even better and a perfect ending to Z :)

Honestly, the Buu Saga was kinda perfect for TFS to do in little pieces, becuase they said they wanted to get away from massive melodramatic moments and focus more on the comedy of the show. The constant joking around by Toriyama in this arc made it a perfect place to put so many of the old running DBZA jokes to rest, this was a great finale to the series, both Mark's and TFS's.
They still missed out on Vegeta boasting in front of Buu while he was getting beat up. Plus Buu was not as menacing as Cell. He has no zingers. They could have done better disagree with you.
@@Ace22yeah, Buu isn't as menacing as Cell, and that's what they _wanted._ Less melodrama, more funny. With a character who's literally a blank slate, it's perfect for jokes.
@@captaincornflakeI feel like the jokes were weaker personally but this feels like an avengers endgame situation, where it's less about surpassing infiny war and more about writing a fitting ending
It also helps them avoid having to try to adapt all the messy narrative elements of the Buu arc, and instead just focus on writing the character moments
I think they also said that they personally just were not enjoying Buu saga and how much of a mess it is in terms of narrative.
Hearing the Brazilian dub, the script, the hole video.
This literally made me cry. Thank you, Mark!

@@UnifiedEntitycope
Goku didn't need to save Gohan. Supreme Kai or Goku could have gone and picked up Gohan from King Yemma's place at anytime.
@@Luke-ow9kuThe Goku part just adds on to the original comment here, but the fact that Kibitoshin did nothing either is pretty telling: Shin was always meant to be the punchline.
All but literally Surprised Pikachu at everything the Saiyans did or said in the Babidi raid, gets a chuckle in when he thinks Buu's pod malfunctioned only to immediately eat crow when the pink smoke consolidates, be so reverent towards the Z sword and its importance only for it to be easily yoinked and then broken just testing it against hard material that *he* summoned, somehow knowing nothing about the Potara despite being Supreme Kai for ages and goofed into permafusing with Kibito (and then thinking that, somehow, he'd be a value in a fight with Super Buu), and overall having his entire position as "being with otherworldly knowledge" completely aped by Old Kai...it's sad, seeing how the arc started with him being very calculated, assured, mysterious and wise, literally putting the fear of God into Piccolo, reduced to just the butt end of multiple gags.
Mark honestly hit the nail on the head imo, Toriyama had his good character moments in the Buu saga primarily with handling Goku's character) but he was all over the place and really overplayed jokes or wasted characters just for a gag, and then still having plot contrivances to get to the finish, even if going completely against the underlying plot threads from the last saga or even the same arc. Say what you will about editorial commentary forcing his hand in the Android/Cell saga, if it pushed him to make a concise story with a focused tone and consistent throughline, I'll take it every time over Toriyama off the leash. As interesting as Android 19 and 20's intro were, hindsight makes me glad they were pushed out from being the big bads of the Android saga, much less the idea of Semiperfect Cell playing a "bigger role" for longer in the story (which I stand by, if it hasn't been confirmed, why Toriyama had it be the form Cell Max was in in Super Hero).
@@Mrryn totally agree. That’s why my memories of buu aren’t as nice and pretty as others. Fusion was cool but the disjointed nature of the plot really took me out of it

The funniest part of Mr. Satan's gag schtick is that he's a genuinely accomplished martial artist on his own, it's just that he's a genuinely accomplished martial artist in a world that has flipping Goku and Vegeta in it.
Have you watched dragon ball (the old ones with kid goku) recently?
Back then there were spiritual martial artists, not just strong men, Hercule is just a strong man (in regular human terms) but i can't see Hercule defeating General Blue or Tao Pai Pai
I still think that if Toriyama didn't decide that the Buu arc was the last arc of the original run, Gohan would've still been the main character but when he wanted to end it here, he probably went "Fuck it, let's bring Goku back in the spotlight while I'm at it too."
I dunno, having buu be defeated by a combination of Gohan, Trunks and Goten might have been the best ending, kind of a step up from the Cell arc showing, once again, that the Earth is in safe hands with this next generation
My problem with this arc was that characters like Vegeta,Gotenks and especially Gohan were hyped as the ones to beat Buu but they are all sidelined by the end by Goku, kind of makes most of the arc feel pointless but I still enjoyed some parts of it.
Honestly Mark, the parallels between Gohan and Buu don’t even end there. So for starters, they are both characters with a connection to the Satan Family, in fact they are the first two characters to get Videl and Mr Satan to let their respective guards down so we can see their genuine characters. Gohan does so to teach Videl snd Mr Satan does so to teach Buu. Additionally, Gohan is introduced into the story as a child with great power who doesn’t know how to act on it, even to do good, whereas Buu is a child like being who only acts on his power to do bad. It’s only when they gain friends and mentors that they learn how use their power properly. For Gohan, this is to fight for thousand that help it and for Buu it is to stop killing. Buu becomes a villain when he thinks he’s lost his mentor, Satan, even though he last act of heroism is to save him, the damage is done and his wrath is untapped. Gohans mentor dies by the hands of Nappa and I’d argue his first use of the masenko is when he becomes a hero, using his wrath to right a wrong despite the great pain he feels. Honestly, if toriyama planned his writing more, Buu could have been an even better villain for Gohan than Cell was on a thematic level.
Toriyama like mark said...was more interested in jokes then telling a good story. He was like george lucas with the prequals. He had no one to reign him back.
I'm incredibly grateful you added the multi language clips. I grew up watching DBZ in Spanish and those voices mean the world to me. I got chills the first time y'all did it.
Some of my earliest memories are me sitting on my couch watching dragon ball Z Kai when it first started airing. Dragon ball is what got me back into anime and therefore made me who I am today. Kai is the reason why I’m watching this video appreciating the people who made it and and the show it talks about. I just want to thank mark and his crew for an incredible analysis video and for Toriyama making such an incredible piece of pop culture defining an era of anime
I remember when I first got into dbz. Went to my friends house and while his mum was making his dinner he asked if I wanted to watch some tv. And then the dragon soul intro started as we sat on the floor in front of the Tv. From that day I was in love. I remember after we ate playing in his garden shooting kamehamehas at each other.
Theres something so bittersweet about getting a true ending for DBZA. Its like having the Buu saga unfinished always left some room for hope on the table, but now we're finally getting what we asked for, albeit not in a longform format as the rest of the series. It's like saying goodbye to someone that you still left something unsaid to. A moment of closure, but also a moment of melancholy. Such a beautiful team and series, and nobody but Mark could have brought it all together like this. Thank you so much, Im so glad I found your channel years ago.
Let's give them momentum to compete the buu ark!!!
Honestly if Super ever continues the anime then it's possible by the time that might end TFS might just piss DBZA enough to come back to it fully. That or Senzu dubs got our backs.
@luchoandresgomez3238 highly doubt that will happen, but one can hope.
I held out hope since the release of episode 60 and we got this now. There's always a chance.@@bnice1374
Ehh this was the worst batch of TFS content. I'm sorta glad it's over now. Kinda feels like them not caring really showed in this side project.
The cut between King Enma going "Please, hang in there, Son Goku" while Kid Buu is kicking Vegeta's crap in is so genius :D
This has been such an incredible review series to go through. It’s actually the greatest display of intellectual comprehension and breakdown that Dragon Ball has ever received imo. Every one of these videos was a beautiful reminder of why I’ve deeply loved this story since I was merely 6 years old, and somehow that feeling continues to grow as I get older. Thank you for what you do Mark, you’re simply the greatest at it.
“Let’s go Buu”
“Uub”
“Boob”
And a decade of Goku being a lot to deal with!
Perfection and great job TFS and Mark!
I was hoping for DBZA to end coming full circle back to "OH NO MY MARIJUANA PATCH"
but having the final zinger being goku saying "Boob" is pretty good too.
Bringing back Nappa as one of Gotenks’s Kamikaze ghosts was straight up genius
But bringing back Vegeta and having ghost Nappa hunting him even while being dead is Wild Lmao
My favorite moment from this arc is at the end (sadly the filler section from anime), when all the villains who were defeated by Goku and the earthlings on the heawen are watching the fight from Hell with a cool soundtrack, even workers on heaven wacthed that fight, the kaioshin gang and the rest are also watching the fight between Goku and Kid Buu. Shows how strong this opponent is even the villains who were defeated are greatly surprised, it’s just wonderful. To see the reactions of Frieza, his father King Cold, Cell, Dr. Gero and Ginyu Squad. I think more moments like this should have been added, it's great fan service.
Facts, would've been cool if TFS also made that scene lol
But that scene was always super stupid. That's not how the Afterlife works in Dragonball.
They shouldn't even be in hell. They should have been cleansed and reborn for a very long time by then.
@@She-Devil94that part about Hell cleansing got retconed even in Super with Frieza staying in his cocoon in Hell for years
@@BigMacBurgr No that wasn't retconned in Super. It was just explained that Freezas soul withstood the cleansing and therefore they decided to just keep him in hell.
@@She-Devil94 when was that explained or stated?
Also, Vegeta's response to Dende asking him what about the third wish from the namekian Dragon Balls is another huge proof of his brilliant character development: "I don't care. Do what you want with it..." From looking for immortality to that, just think about it...what a ride, since the Freeza Saga...seriously, what a ride!
For a character Akira once said he didn't like so much, he sure as hell paid him one of the finest and most complete developments you'll ever see in a villain.
You got me good in the emotions with the multi lingual montage. Being reminded that Dragonball is a story that has roots in so many areas of Earth always makes me feel more connected to the rest of the world. Thank you for that.
Also... Vegeta refusing to say "Goku" when fused is PEAK comedy.
Here for the bits:
3:27 - Dende's lookout
20:37 - SSJ3 Transformation
27:41 Gotenks Fusion
39:20 - Buu meets Mr. Satan
48:46 - Gotenks Vs Super Buu
1:00:00 - Meeting Kaioshin (Old Kai)
1:03:24 - Ultimate Gohan Vs Super Buu
1:14:25 - Gohan Vs. Super Buutenks
1:19:27 - Vegito Vs Buu
1:34:02 - Vegeta and Goku Vs Buu on Kai's planet
1:41:58 - Goku's Spirit Bomb idea
1:51:43 - Vegeta Requests for more Energy
1:54:42: - 10 Years later
1:56:59 - Goku and Uub
You're welcome.
We now have the Buu Saga abridged... even if it's in bits.
Thanks
Buu saga abridged: abridged
uub trained by tfs goku does not turn out well
Thanks!.
I just want more😢
Mark's crew needs more than just a bone after this fantastic job bringing this to life with teamfourstar backing it up made this perfect. Also, throw the editor a bone, a big one
You did it, sir. You did a truly wonderful thing. You recruited Team Four Star for the Buu Bits and thus, they were able to finish their decade long tribute to Akira Toriyama before he passed. You deserve the third highest praise for that.
My favorite parts have always been the times where you bring so many of the different dubs together into those climactic build-ups. And I expected that to precede the fight with Kid Buu.
But putting to the gathering of energy for the Spirit Bomb? And then splitting it to share it with Satan's plea? That was so beautiful, it began to make me tear up. Bravo, Mark and Editor-san! The both of you are fantastic at recreating such resonant moments.
Buu's character development while with Hercule is legitimately my favorite part of the saga. Just by treating the monster with kindness and patience and taking the time to befriend him, he almost saved the universe. Buu genuinely wanted to change and make his new friends happy. And his bond with the puppy is... well, it's really adorable and it makes me tear up a little every time I see him get shot. Heck, even Buu's evil self hesitated to attack Hercule when he finally broke free and absorbed the good Buu. It's just so heartwarming and tragic.
The ultimate irony is that Evil Buu (who is literally the most conceptually evil character in the series. In the BT games the Devilmite beam does more damage to him then any other character, even Kid Buu) never actually commited any evil acts. He killed the man who shot a puppy for fun so fuck him, he spared with Fat Buu (literally fighting with himself, not involving anyone else), and beat him fair and square. He didn't even beat Fat Buu directly, just defended himself from the Chocolate Beam. I have no idea whether that was intentional or not but it's interesting to examine.
"Does he stick it's landing? Does it have it's issues? Only one way to find out for sure!" Mark knows how to sell it for nearly a 20 year old arc. lol
I had to check. And yeah at least for the U.S release it was exactly 20 years ago back in April, that Z ended.
About 27 years since Z ended in Japan 😅
This whole time I’ve kinda been thinking “this should be like 12 hours of in depth analysis” and now I’m at the end and Mark has convinced me otherwise. Outstanding work.
I think the problems in narrative could have been fixed by Goku and Vegeta saving Piccolo, Goten, Trunks and Gohan and having THEM fight Kid Boo.
That would let the younger Generation fix the mess they made themselves after a little help by the older generation.
I'm so glad you highlighted the multiple language sequences. They were the most impactful part for me as well. It's so cool to meet strangers from all walks of life and still be able to relate to them because of a shared love of Dragon Ball and this story. You and the team have outdone yourselves, shattered your limits, and reached further beyond. Kudos to all of you.
You know, for many years I have hated on the Buu saga, and Mark certainly covers why, but I ended up forgetting the parts that were actually good. It will always be a drawn out and problematic arc, but when it works it has some of the best parts in the entire series. Thank you for helping me see this.
I've always said the Buu saga is not bad infact I'd call it pretty good. However this is the point where you can really start to notice the cracks in Toryiama's writing that were present before but not as obvious. But the stuff that does work in the saga really freaking works and still far better than anything GT or Super did in their entire runs.
@Cloud-dt6xb I think if it did not devote SO much time to hyping up things that are ultimately pointless it would be fine. Between SSJ3, Gotenks, Ultimate Gohan, and Vegito, they are all cool, but when we finally see them they either contribute nothing to the story or only serve to show that pushing past limitations does not help, going against every other arc. I actually love how they beat Buu, it is a fantastic ending, but it feels like the journey to get there is all...unnecessary.
I just hate that Toriyama didn't follow through on the whole "passing the torch to the new generation" idea. Especially since just before we had the Cell saga, which was not just one of the best "passing the torch" moments in manga, but in *all of fiction.*
@@TheIncarnadine042 I would'nt call any of that pointless though all of those things do their intended purpose and put Buu on the backfoot more than once even if they never outright defeat him. Goku was only fighting Buu to buy time for Trunks to get the Dragon Radar, Gotenks forces Buu to hide and wait out their time limit giving time for Gohan to power up and arrive. Gohan curbstomping him at first requires him to retreat and play it more sneaky until he absorbs what he needs. The only reason Vegito does'nt kill him is because they were more concerned with rescuing everybody first.
While accidental it creates an arc where the tides constantly shift between the heroes and Buu. It also really sells just what a monster Buu is no matter which form he's in. The heroes literally throw everything they have at him and he's able to take all of it or find sneaky ways to gain back control. So the tension is always really high all the way until the end. In my opinion it's what makes the final battle on the kai planet so great, it's a desperate scrap to try to gain any sort of advantage over Buu and even when they get a solution it still takes alot of effort to do the job.
i kinda wish the Super review was after this, so we could get more TeamFourStar clips hahahahha. they're going to live rent free in my head for a long time!
incredible series and really somewhat emotional at times as a viewer. fantastic work by all here
The final words you give for this video just hit sooo much harder now with Toriyamas passing and giving us all this tremendously amazing tale
It's insane how a single line of dialogue can impact so much. Your multi-language montages have been nothing but punches to the gut, but this one hit hard especially because we got to listen to Luis Alfonso Medina's work as Gohan, may he rest in peace
This series, no matter how many flaws it has, will always be my introduction to anime and stories in general. And I don’t hate it one bit. Thanks for reviewing Mark.
Edit: As of March 7th 2024, Akira Toriyama has passed away. I was left speechless. This man has influenced so much in my life starting from childhood to adulthood. From getting into anime to even writing fiction, it all has Dragon Ball somewhere in its roots. From the anime to the games, and from manga volumes to movies, it all has been with me essentially my whole life. Even with Abridged. RIP to the Legend. You were #1.
shut up
Most shounen doesn't make much sense at all, DBZ in its simplicity is more consistent than most and I appreciate that.
@@TheLKStar
At least db has themes that Akira stuck with it
Akira Toriyama isn't some next-level writer or anything, but he had so many memorable "lighting in a bottle" moments. Especially to our generation that were just young kids when watching DBZ unfold...Super Saiyan, the spirit bomb, Super Saiyan 2, Cell and Buu's absorption abilities, the fusion, SS3...this series was literally the best thing ever to me during my childhood.
46:12 Trunks falling here has me dying bro landed FLAT on his face 😂
1:10:20 I think you also touch on something here with Gohan in that his power for the longest time has been drawn out through rage Raditz, Cell, Etc. To have Super Boo be the incarnate of rage/wrath gives Gohan an external force in confronting really who he has been through the series.
The editing choice, amidst all the different languages' dubbed lines, to have Paolo Torrisi chosen to represent Goku in the italian dub, is honestly heart warming and it made me tear up.
Paolo Torrisi *was* Dragonball for us in italy. His passing was painful and abrupt, and it has forever changed how we have been able to hear Goku ever since.
It means so much to all of us in italy, who grew up with Dragonball.
Grazie infinite, Mark.
Same goes for Adult Gohan's VA in Latin America, Luis Alfonso Mendoza, who sadly passed away in the most unfair way. Hearing his voice again was like remembering an old friend. Dragon Ball truly is a gift for the world.
Gracias, Mark
@@Arausitoman, I completely forgot about his passing. He was such an amazing VA for Gohan 😢😢
hey wait a minute... he used old Gohan Voice Ours Luis Alfonzo Mendoza Also pass away not too long ago... and it was hard on us... Did Mark use only voice Actors that are already Gone ?? XD
@@arcos1127 Que mas podían hacer? Pedirle a Junior peluche que diga esos diálogos? (el es la voz actual de Gohan, y es un excelente reemplazo)
🥹🥲 ho appena pensato la stessa cosa
I don't know why it brought me to tears, but hearing Gohan say that line at 1:03:45 made me so happy.
Years of setup for an incredible payoff. That's why. That's why we're all crying.
"I'm an adult, you re..."
Not even TFS went there.
Hi Not Mark. I know you likely won’t ever see this but I wanted to express my gratitude for what you’ve done here. This Ultimate review series is more than a review. It is such an incredibly passionate and well thought out piece of content. It is essentially a documentary of this series that so many of us grew up with and is a core part of our being. Not only do you carefully break down each aspect of the show. You take the time to give the roses to the superbly talented people behind it all that worked to give us the Dragonball we know and love.
So thank you for all that you’ve done.
that genkidama part made me realize how universal DragonBall is. We all loved Goku and his adventures, tried to channel ki, trying to learn to fly, trying to do a kamehameha. It legitimately made me cry in joy.
I think the massive kick in the balls to me personally is the fact that my dad never got to see the end of TFS DBZA. I lost him to colon cancer and he absolutely loved Dragon Ball and the Abridged Series. Without him I wouldn’t have loved Dragon Ball like I do now. It’s kind of sad that he never got to see the ending. I am however happy that I did witness that. Thank you Mark. Thank you TFS. This was one hell of a journey.
I'm so sorry you never got to experience that with your dad, RIP. I hope you're doing alright!
The buu bit with gohan and buutenks (at 1:14:26) was probably the one I liked the most out of the ones we got in this episode. It was like you could feel the weight of Gohan’s failure to finish off Buu when he had the chance and the overall dread of the moment and then door dash joke out of nowhere caught me off guard and got a laugh out of me.
Yeah, but was it really comparable to Freeza and Cell's best lines? It was pretty weak tbh. It being one of the ONLY real villain lines for Buu is not a good thing either.
Also, amazing payoff to how Piccolo's fusion works differently in Abridged. Taking that idea and making it monstrous was a really great move
@@Ace22 wh- why
@Ace22 I guess so but it all we got. Although I wonder if the Door dash joke undercut the whole thing.
@@Ace22I thought Fat Buu’s “Buu has played this game” line was a pretty good villain line.
Despite its shortcomings, this saga is a great finale for a special series, not just for everyone watching, but even for those who put their love, care, and passion into making Dragon Ball into what is it. Even this series of reviews shows a ton of love for Dragon Ball. Thanks, Mark. It was well worth the wait. Also, thanks to Team Four Star for giving us the Buu Bits. While I wish it was a full series, maybe it is for the best that the Abridged Series keeps the Buu Saga short.
I believe I can talk for all the italian fans out there and say thank you for these amazing videos, especially for the multi language sections. Unfortunately, Goku's original italian voice passed away around 2006 if I remember correctly, his last performance as Goku being in GT's A Hero's Legacy, and for this reason, every time i heard his voice in your montages I just broke into tears. I just wanted to say thank you again for letting us hear him again in this special journey. A nome di tutta l'Italia, ciao Paolo. Sarai sempre il numero uno.
The number of people cutting all of these TFS shorts together and reuploading them without any changes must have no idea the history that you have had with fair use.
Thanks for the great content sir. You and TFS are legends.
I love all the jokes and running gags throughout DBZA are finally being closed in these Buu Bits, from Vegeta admitting to Goku that they are best buddies to Gohan against Buu saying that now HE'S the adult, all of it is just so beautiful to watch
40:16 is perfection.
The amount of frames in the lead up juxtaposed to the amount used in the payoff. Is what makes animation great
As someone who has only watched dragon ball as a kid and only watches it nowadays through fight scenes on youtube, these videos have given me a much deeper understanding of the series. Its themes, characters, lessons it was trying to teach, etc etc. These were great man
Gohan saying "You legend." at 1:26:48 instead of the famous line really got me
When I first started watching DBZA, I basically didn’t know English yet. Now I do, after almost 15 years. Watching DBZA, always dubbed in English, seriously helped. Thanks guys
For those wondering: subs were often available
Thts cool man!! I’m curious what dbza must have sounded like when you didn’t really understand lol
@@mookiestewart3776 It raises a lot of eyebrows 🤨🤨🤨
What is your first language?
@@Julian-mc3tc For me, it raised a _lot_ of laughter. XD
Granted, by the time I started watching my English was decent enough that I could understand most of it (I had serious trouble with specific idioms and jokes, like Freaky Alien Genotype. Gohan's "I thought it was a derogatory word for homosexual" saved me from _so much_ confusion).
But the laughter, man.
The very first episode I stumbled across was episode 14, with the Namekian warriors speaking to Freeza and getting interrupted with his counting? That joke is _burned_ into my mind.
@@twaggytheatricks4960 Same for me !
The 1st episode I saw was the _Plan to eradicate Christmas_ special. Ironically, the joke I didn't understand was Gohan speaking in french after receiving Moby Dick.
Those subtitles were a god sent.
the only moment I missed is Vegeta being brought back because he's a good guy now. His look when he hears that is priceless
That's true, I wish he could have pointed that out, but I think his entire exploration of Vegeta could only lead to that conclusion. 😅
