This arc actually did justice to Yamcha, who trained, and led a group of galactic patrol to their own respective victory. I did not expect that at all.
Yeah, the non top 4 Z fighters hadn’t got such respect since the Saiyan/Frieza saga. Well, there was Tien holding Semi perfect Cell like a goddamn boss, but you get what I am saying.
I believe Yamcha can be a very potential source for very good character development. Uptill now, Yamcha has been over too cocky to underestimate his opponent and let his guard down and resulting him dying to finally giving up fighting as scale got very high. Unlike Tien who still trained even knowing he would never be in saiyans league, he was atleast in TOP. But what embarrassment for Yamcha that Roshi got picked instead of him and he had low PL than him. That embarrassment enough could be motivation enough for him to train again so that he won't be far away from Krillin and Tien atleast. So an arc which helps Yamcha overcome all his character backdraw can be a very good arc even if it's a small training arc as well.
Didn't expect to see you here. I feel like Vegeta in Battle of the Gods already had his End of Z persona, when he threw away his pride to prevent beerus from destroying the planet.
@@vegamatic2434 How was it an asspull? The essence of the supreme kai remaining in Buu was not an asspull at all, I've always thought that was a possibility.
Although I am a huge fan of buu and also a bit disappointed Mark didn't talk about him, it does kinda make sense since he really didn't do much besides dominating Moro, which makes little sense power scaling wise, and then sleep again through the whole arc until the very end.
straight up. I think the author and Toriyama really underplayed Zamasu’s influence in the story. Hell, they could’ve used his example of a “failed Kai” to justify the “defeated Universes = erasure” in the ToP. Not necessarily saying “Zamasu was right”, but at least mentioning him and taking into consideration what his actions meant for the system of Angels Kais and Mortals as a whole. And, with the final wish by 17/ Goku, they would confirm Zamasu was indeed wrong and that mortals weren’t barbaric beings that would crumble themselves. Hopefully what happened with Merus ends up having an influence in the universe later on, hell, the fact that THE grand priest himself resurrected him shows some trace of that impact.
We still need more focus on characters like Gohan, Piccolo, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, and Goten and Trunks (WHO NEED TO AGE), as well as Pan and Bulla, and Uub

I’m a Japanese dude who happens to live in America, and I want to say something. 1.The phrase “Vegeta has never been one to underestimate his opponent” is actually a little different in the Japanese version of the manga. In the Japanese manga, it says 「相手の力を知らないようなやつではない。」In short, this says that “Vegeta isn’t the type of person to not know his opponents strength”. So it’s really similar, but it implies a bit of a different meaning. It doesn’t really say that Vegeta hasn’t underestimated his opponent cuz that’s dumb, more like he knows his opponents strength. So maybe it’s more of Vegeta’s pride and overconfidence that comes into the equation, rather than him not knowing his opponents strength. If I recall correctly, Vegeta said something about wanting to stay away from Frieza because it would be bad if something happened. So he clearly doesn’t “underestimate” the evil lizard, it’s more that he thinks he can win from the Zenkai boosts he got on Namek following up to the boss battle. That’s my take, i might really just be stupid and overthinking this, but it’s something I wanted to say. But yeah, saying Vegeta has never underestimated his opponents is dumb. Edit: I suck at typing
I think Vegeta usually doesn't underestimate his opponents, rather, i think his main problem is that he Overestimates himself. Vegeta is a very strategic and tactical fighter. He fights with caution, but his own pride and overconfidence get in the way. Vegeta knew Perfect Cell would be obscenely powerful, but he algo though his own strength was greater, which it wasn't. He also took Goku seriously enough to fight him personally, yet "knew" that a low class Saiyan, even one as gifted as Goku, couldn't beat the Prince. He doesn't misread his opponent's strength, only his own.
Vegeta got the greatest character development he's ever had in this arc. He learned an actual TECHNIQUE that isn't a new way to blast energy at people.
Fr. Also that scene where Moro asks vegeta if he believes he’s going to hell, and vegeta says yes. That whole moment was meant to show the true effects of guilt and how in vegeta’s case, he believes he’ll never be truly redeemed no matter how many times he saves the universe, even tho everyone around him knows he’s going to heaven. That was a side of vegeta Ive never seen before it was beautiful but also pretty damn sad to know that’s how much guilt he was carrying. For some reason, everyone overlooked that moment and criticized it because they only took it at face value.
@@zenithpath8707 wasn’t nerfed at all. The time he got defeated was Moro outplaying, and later on when he uses on “earth fused Moro”, he significantly weakened him. ffs, he was literally separating a guy from a planet. That’s not nerfed
Always cool to see Vegeta acknowledge his mistakes...like, it's cool because even while being a prideful person, he understand that he has wronged, and that he want to redeem himself. This is why Vegeta...is my 2nd favorite, right after Goku😁
Honestly when I was reading the manga, it suddenly clicked for me at some point that Merus was something I’d never seen in anime. He was (for lack of better term) a god with a mortal complex. His training was to make him the neutral ground an Angel is supposed to be, but his exposure to the world around him influenced him that gave a god who’s supposed to be neutral, a moral compass. It is amazing!
@@PeaceOfMind8190 superman is a nonexample. It was changed so much by different writers that he's just not a relevant character to discuss from a cohesive story telling perspective. Does what I say make sense? im a lil high rn so im not 100 on wat i just said. (soz english isnt my 1st language)
I was surprised that Yamcha could take part in the action because for so long Yamcha had correctly been portrayed as a person who gave up when he couldn’t contribute in power levels.
My biggest issue with Moro came with his combat. Moro was set up to be an all powerful Mage and really showed that off in the Namek part of the story. But as the story continued he just kept using more martial arts, instead of magic, taking away the feature that made combat with Moro really fresh and interesting.
Yea I wanted to see Moro magic. There was like with his absorption and ability to become one with a planet, but I wanted more fighting magic. I was part of the point tho. The more greedy and power-obsessed he became, he lost more of himself. That’s why he started using less magic and solely relied on his greed. And in the end he got all the power but lost his sanity.
Reminds of the differences between Merged Zamasu in the Anime and Manga. In the anime, Merged Zamasu hovers over the battlefield like the true god he believes himself to be, and refuses to dirty his hands by fighting the Saiyans in direct combat, that is until his mortal half starts affecting the balance of his fusion. In the manga, however, Merged Zamasu is just another guy using his fists and martial arts to try and win, and just feels like another muscle-head villain. He doesn't even put up an impressive fight compared to his anime counterpart.
@@kamikazelemming1552 I actually found the manga Goku Black to be interesting because the contrast came from how the Savage Saiyan instincts manifested itself through Goku's body while Zamasu was in the driver's seat against how Goku channels these instincts in a much healthier fashion. Goku controls them while Zamasu just got taken over.
I was curious about that side of Moro to, but I couldn't really think of any magical combat ideas for Dragon Ball outside of maybe some elemental magic, but even that seems a little cliche.
@@JakeSmith-mq5dc I actually had the opposite problem, any esoteric ideas for magic in a fight I could think of just seemed too broken, like I expected him to like manipulate matter or bend reality or something, but then I would think “ok but how is goku supposed to fight that”.

@@zenithpath8707 I didnt mind the concept of Lizard Cell, another great example of Toriyama fixing the power creep by making a character that just eat it and becomes a bigger threat with each opponent he kills. He could have go trough his metamorphosis just by eating more and more powerful people and so the mecha tweens wouldnt be necesary.
Moro’s powers were one of the best aspects of dbs. Only thing I hated about him was when he absorbed 73 and became “Cell 2” both in design and fighting style. That said, it was a really damn cool seeing Moro be able to use MUI due to absorbing Merus. Like, top 5 moments in all of Db imo. I actually cried when reading Vegeta's line "I have done the people of this planet the Namekians untold harm, so no I cannot allow even one more of them to suffer." I truly felt like the full circle moment of his entire character arc. When you read that line it takes you all the way back to the atrocities he committed on Namek and you see what makes Vegeta the best character im Dragon Ball.
No, Merus is like the opposite of Toppo. Toppo had to throw away his justice centered morals and become God of Destruction to have as chance of winning the tournament of power. On the otherhand, Merus became an angel after accepting his morals and turning away from his actual role.
@@jantheking7028 i guess the comparison is applicable to both. I said zamasu because they both divine beiings, wanting to help in the universe. Because of their status they dont really have the ''right'' to intervene in these matters. @@DLxxx that senzu bean scene is VERY misunderstood. The whole point was to show goku’s character development from the effect merus had on him, and how he was truly carrying on his will and the dream he trusted him to protect.
@@leultrainstinct406 Exactly, most of the people complaining have very selective memory. They even forgot the scene where Merus literally tells Goku that the job of a true galactic patrol officer is to reform villains. And you are also right about Vegeta overestimating his own power. Vegeta KNEW how strong Frieza, Cell, and Jiren were, but he went to fight them anyway because he overrestimated himself.
If mister "Pain makes me stronger" can make a goddamn scythe of ki and rip appart dimensions with it, Goku can manipulate his aura to make a giant version of himself.
Exactly. Ki manipulation has always been a thing in db. The things they can create all depends on the character, their creativity, and amount of ki control. in order to fit the situation he was in: he needed something big to hold Moro still while he went in for the final blow. So he projected his ki into a giant avatar that could help achieve this goal. Anyone saying it’s an ass pull doesn’t understand ki.
I'd say Goku Black wasn't ilogically strong in the manga, he was all about zenkais. On the other hand, since DBZ, DB fighters are able to materialize their ki in different forms and not just blast, take a look on Gotenks' kamikaze ghosts attack. Goku just made a giant avatar from ki, defintely not an asspull
@@bloodraptor Goku and Vegeta are not able to use them anymore since Frieza arc. While Goku Black, it was more about using zenkais to merge his godly to ki to the saiyan cells of Goku's body. People keep comparing the senzu bean moment to the cell arc when I personally think it has more in common with the ending of the frieza arc. Goku is being merciful to an opponent who no longer has any chance of actually beating him, the previous chapter made that very clear. Hell when Morro attacks Goku after eating the bean all he does is cripple himself. Goku had nothing to fear from this man anymore, he’s ceased to be a threat. The only reason he becomes one again is because of a desperate Hail Mary that even Morro wasn’t aware of at the time. It’s not like Goku was just gonna let him go either, he was planning on placing Morro back into custody and, after Morro attacks him again, killing him. People complain about it and how it’s a stupid thing Goku did, but in the proper context it seems perfectly fine to me.
The senzu bean thing can be reconciled if you take in, the philosophical background of Son Goku's character archetype. The character archetype of Goku, is a synthesis of Shintoism, Confucianism, Daoism and Buddhism. In this case, For Buddhism they believe in innate buddhahood for all sentient beings(which includes all evil doers like King Piccolo, Frieza, Cell, Kid Buu, Zamasu, and even Moro). Goku is like a "Bodhisattva" which, are enlightened beings who strive to get others to achieve enlightenment and awakening. They believe in universal compassion. This is why Goku is written to be pure "kokoro" (heart) and empty minded. forgiving, as well as doing things like giving a senzu bean, or giving mercy to the most malicious beings in the universe. Goku's character archetype is based on the central character in Journey to the West, Son Wukong. The story is about a tale of retrieving buddhist scrolls from India. It's also apparent that Eastern Philosophy is there. Because historically, Buddhism spread from India to China and then Japan. As it spread to China. The Shaolin Monks incorporated Buddhism into their martial arts(Kung fu) as it spread to Japan, in influenced the way of the warrior, or Bushido. (Zen Buddhism) One of the coolest things to come from Dragon Ball, is "Migatti No Gokui". Geekdom101 did a video on it's basis, which is Mushin. However, I also believe it to be a reference to a real life swordsman named Miyamoto Musashi, he founded a Zen Buddhist school of thought, for kenjutsu technique called niten'ichi (二天一, "two heavens as one") or nitōichi (二刀一, "two swords as one") or 'Niten Ichi-ryū' (A Kongen Buddhist Sutra refers to the two heavens as the two guardians of Buddha). All of Son Goku's lessons from his martial arts masters(Roshi, Korin, Popo, Kami, King Kai, Whis, and even Merus, have all led up to his spiritual culmination, the mastery of self movement. Goku being a pure and empty minded being, is the first step in spiritual enlightenment in achieving such a state. Goku's inner aggregates is his selfish desire to fight. He queals this desire to fight (even if temporarily) and that is what allows him to achieve Ultra Instinct. In the East, specifically in terms of Buddhism, the primary struggle facing people is the cultivation of self and freeing themselves from the cycle of samsara. Those who selfishly pursue things will be forced to endlessly reincarnate and thus, continue to experience "dukka"(suffering) and "anatta"(impermance) until they let go of the five aggregates of Buddhism. In Confucianism, You have a humanist centered philosophy, that espouses, the flourishing of society as being the best good. Anything deviating from this or the virtues of a enlightened individual in society leads to the imbalance and gives the impression of "Evil". that is Specifically to "way of the gentlemen" are benevolence (ren 仁), righteousness (yi 義), ritual propriety (li 禮), wisdom (zhi 智), and trustworthiness (xin 信). However, in Shintoism, there is a struggle and balancing of kegare ("pollution" or "impurity"), while ensuring harae ("purity"). Which contradicts some Buddhist ideas of the non-self(atman) I really think people need to understand that the Eastern Philosophy in Asian cultures is vastly different than in Western cultures. In regards to Metaphysics and Ethics, it is night and day on concepts of Gods and Evil. For example, Evil in the East is not a "substance" in a monist point of view. It does not have matter associated with it. In the West, from a theological point of view, St. Augustine viewed evil as a "privation of good" he didn't believe Evil was created since that would deconstruct the presumption that a God was perfect in the sense of omnipotent, all good, and omniscient. Also in the West, people tend to believe in a concept in Theodicy called the "vale of soul making". This would be the explaination for the problem of evil. That is, the existence of evil as a phenomenological effect, that motivates and breeds self cultivation of behavior and harmonious virtues in mortals. The reason I added the stuff about evil and Godhood, is that people always struggle with coming to terms of why don't Whis or the Kaioshins or the other Gods, actually intervene. This is a struggle that parallels actual history in theology and is across cultures. Thinking of these things, helps to appreciate the ideas behind the fiction.
Finally, someone who agrees. Goku giving Moro a senzu bean is not a big deal at all. Goku knew damn well that there was no way Moro could hurt him anymore, so even if Moro were to attack him after being given a senzu (which he did), Goku would be unharmed and would simply put him down again.
I agree with this but I also have to say that they said they would be executing Moro not keeping him in custody. so there wasnt really any point to him doing this. correct me if im wronng tho
@@MrFlip2247 No, they couldn't kill Moro in the first place. That is the reason why he was in jail for so long, they tried to execute him but no one could do it so they changed his sentence to life in prision. Or maybe I mixed up his backstory with Kaido, I honestly don't remember anymore lol.

13:04, I love these moments where we get to see Mark just unscripted! Yes, I love his fluent style of speak when he's reading from a script but when his voice drops to casual and he sneaks a laugh here and there, I can't help but smile!
I loved how cohesive every character was with the themes. I percieve the ultimate theme of this saga to be "Where your strength is derived" and Moro, Vegeta, Goku, and even the Z fighters and goons fit this perfectly. Moro's strength is derived from killing, stealing, and cheating via his energy absorption and use of Seven Three, which ties perfectly into both Goku and Vegeta. Vegeta derives his strength from himself, not cheating like Moro does. This makes sense as he has polished his own energy even better than Goku in this saga and uses his knowledge of inner spirit to temporarily defeat Moro. Goku, like Moro, derives his strength from others, however he is motivated by his friends and makes use of their combined will to get stronger. Goku's way of gaining strength is brought into the story in the most powerful way when Merus dies, as his will finally motivates Goku to become stronger than Moro. The two are complete opposites, but this is made even more apparent when Moro recieves the very same power as Goku from the very same source, only through HIS unique means. One has trained and the other has cheated and now, as both are armed with Merus' power, Goku and Moro's strength is tested one last time and the latter gets bit in the back. Due to his killing, stealing, and cheating, Moro can't handle the strength Goku can and he ultimately gets finished off by Goku, who is literally using the strength of the friends he made along the way to defeat him. I love the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga.

People seem to hate how goku spared Moro and gave him a bean, but it wasn’t really out of character. From what I can tell goku doesn’t want to kill. From gokus perspective at that point Moro was a helpless person who couldn’t fight back. While other characters would leap at the opportunity to finish Moro off goku doesn’t want to beat him like that. Also he believed(rightfully so) that he could beat him. Not to mention his relationship with merus also changed his perspective .This being shown with how instead of being getting mad for merus’ death he accepted it and was calm
Personally, I loved this arc and reading it it brought back so many memories from the original DB and DBZ. I love the character that Merus is, I love Vegeta and I love the concept of Moros. This arc didn’t feel like what Dragon Ball Super is being seen as (lazy, money grabbing), It felt like the masterpiece that is DBZ. of course there are some flaws but the feel of the story, the situation feeling dangerous and like something could go wrong even if you know Goku would manage to defeat the Villain, really makes this arc one of the best stories I’ve ever read in DBS
I believe that this acr's success has a lot to do with Merus' character. He was really well introduced and his eventual reveal as an angel, although expectable, was pretty well handled as well. His death, for me, was much more meaningful than Android 16's, for example. That's because he actually had a bound with Goku to begin with. I also love how that scene goes hand to hand with what Merus himself said to Goku at chapter 52, I believe. "You will only achieve Ultra Instinct when being able to control your emotions in the midst of a chaotic moment", or something like that. Everything felt way more connected and planned out than a simple rage boost. Besides all of this, his moveset is also pretty amazing (especially as a galactic patrol agent). Not only being creative, but also unique in a lot of ways. If I had to ask for something else from his character, it would actually be more scenes with Goku in the Room of Spirit and Time, to help convey their relationship. But that's all.
Merus was alright.. But the fact that he actually didn't die undermines literally everything about him. Say whatever you want, creating cheap shock value through a character's fake death is shitty and balless writing. I'm not saying that every character should die etc but when he came back it undermined so many things about him and even all the stress between the Grand Priest and Whis etc. And Goku pulling perfect ultra instinct cause Merus inspired him is just.. Bleh. I have no idea why people see the character writing in this arc good, it was very basic and borderline cheap writing for the most part. Even Moro went from an interesting unique villain into Cell 2.0 at the end smh.

Merus literally told him earlier that the key to unlocking ultra instinct was to have self control in a chaotic moment (or something along the lines of this), and Merus death was a perfect time for him to achieve ultra instinct given this prerequiste. Usually Goku would just get a rage boost there, but he managed to mantain self control in order to master ultra instinct.
What I really appreciate about this video is the emphasis on the influence of fan culture on the enjoyment of media. I'm a firm believer that we should always try to understand storytelling from the perspective of the storyteller, critiquing a story based on its own merits not unfairly pushing our own desires when it's something that the story wasn't even trying to be, at that point your're just projecting not critiquing. If your intention was to make up for your previous video I'd say you've done that and more.
Arc is goated. Brought goku back to form in a tangible canonical way. (Reasserting his long forgotten heroic side.) And Made Vegeta a badass who learned from his mistakes. I genuinely think this arc is what happens when torotaro was allowed the reins on an arc instead of toriyama meddling. It was the first time I felt like I was watchinf a story unfold, not watching hazbro cream over new merch
Yup I agree. All these other Dragon Ball fan-mangas fail to capture Toriyama's artstyle, comedy, and combat style. The only person I see who has actually been able to capture Toriyama's exact style is Toyotarou, and he has only continued to get better and better so far. During the Black Goku arc, Toriyama was frequently correct Toyotarou's drawings, but then by the Moro arc, Toyotarou gained more creative freedom because Toriyama trusted him more. As a result, Toyotarou delivered 2 of the best DB arcs: Moro arc, and Granolah arc. I'm excited to see where Toyotarou goes from here.
It's true, it is MUCH more similar to the avatar state than the Susanno. If you don't know what I mean, go watch the fight between Giant Korra and Vaatuu, Korra made an energy version of herself similar to what Goku did. I never understood the Susanno comparisons, it is much more similar to Korra's avatar mode.
Eh, most people use catchier names for the arcs compared to the official ones God of Destruction Beerus arc - BoG Golden Freeza arc - RoF Universe 6/U6 arc is fine enough Future Trunks/FT arc - Goku Black arc Universe Survival/US arc - Tournament of Power/ToP arc Galactic Patrol Prisoner/GSS arc - Moro arc Granolah the Survivor arc - Granolah arc
@@Grizzexploder Has nothing to do with "catchier" imo. Especially for the first two, those aren't really "catchier," those are just the movie names lol. Not to mention you purposefully abbreviate because if you didn't abbreviate, it'd be painfully obvious they aren't catchier at all
Oh Lord I just realized, I'm not getting my hopes up or anything, but Granolah's whole grudge with Saiyans and Freeza could flow REALLY well into reimplementing Broly back into the story
@@jantheking7028 all the Z villain wishes were from the films. They were used by Garlic Jr., Dr. Kochin, Lord Slug, (technically) Hoi, and Sorbet. and as for GT--not counting Pilaf's accidental wish--Baby used the black star balls to wish his planet back.
One of the biggest complaints i've heard from a staunch critic of the Moro Saga is that Vegeta wouldn't train on Yardrat because of his saiyan heritage. Although, looking at it now from the angle of Vegeta having matured past that sort of mindset, I can see him training there being a bit more believable.
Let's just say first Super arc read all the way through. Moro was an engaging villain. Liked how Toyotaro gave the side characters spotlight too. Particular Piccolo,Gohan,Krillin.
Speaking of dealing with power creep, I loved the buildup to the Buu arc. Suddenly Goku & pals couldn't just beat everyone to death with stronger powers, they had to race to find Babidi's hideout and reach Buu in time before he's released into the world. Then you have Vegeta making things even more complicated by his 180 in character back to being evil and raising the suspense over whether Buu would be released or not. I haven't read the Moro arc but I will after watching this video!
My biggest problem with this arc is how Vegeta didn't get the kill. He was such a responsible person, he realized that he could not depend on Goku and trained in his own way, he was trying to redeem himself after what he did on Namek, and Goku did the same irresponsible shit again. I would love to see Vegeta defeating Moro and putting some sense on Goku
@@kirby778confeti5 not necessarily he could know fully well how good his opponent is and still try and fight them because he just thinks he's so much better even if he knows how powerful his enemy is
Have you heard how the new arc is called the survivor arc? I was thinking going along with this idea of Vegeta making up for past mistakes like he did on namek what if Oatmeel and Ganolah are survivors from one of Vegeta's previous conquests and they want 73 to take revenge on him. So the new twist on the story could be the new villains aren't strong enough to actually threaten Vegeta but he wants to avoid harming them because he feels guilty about it. Would that be interesting they current threat could be ended immediately but Vegeta won't let the Z team fight the antagonists?
Very good video. It actually made me check out the manga after only having seen the anime, and I have to say this Arc feels so much better than the previous one. Despite the whole galaxy being on the line in the tournament of power, I personally was never too invested since, how you said it yourself in your anaylisation of that arc, the "villain" was Zeno. No one on that battlefield seemed as dangerous as most past villains, Jiren had so little motivation he was barely alive, AND the fact that even the timelimit was IN FAVOR of universe 7, are all reasons why I personally felt let down. But this one is different. We actually have someone that not only was powerful enough, but it was also a scary and twisted individual. Moro really captured what I wanted from a villain, from an arc. I'm really happy that this video made me give the manga a chance.

This arc actually did justice to Yamcha, who trained, and led a group of galactic patrol to their own respective victory. I did not expect that at all.

Well, there was Tien holding Semi perfect Cell like a goddamn boss, but you get what I am saying.

@@ValGOPLock same
I believe Yamcha can be a very potential source for very good character development.
With that, Yamcha has become more important than Tien
This Vegeta, Hav and I feel, is the beginnings of his End of Z persona.

I just realized Merus' development is like Zamasu's but in the right direction instead of the wrong.
straight up.

@@_neon-xeon_3966 Totally Not Mark. The Big O guy.
Also, that Japanese phrase is in the present tense, right? That also makes much more sense, Vegeta isn't the blind prideful bastard he was in DBZ
That's a pretty small translation error that has quite a big impact on that scene.
Thanks for the clarification
Your comment deserve to be pinned.
Geez this makes me wonder what else was lost in translation

This arc was the best dbs arc. However, I still have a feeling that the stories in dragon ball super rely on call backs to DB and DBZ. Tho the ending of this arc was impressive, I want to see dragon ball super break out of it's mold and create its own moments worthy being showcased as call backs

I really wish more people read your comment
The senzu bean thing can be reconciled if you take in, the philosophical background of Son Goku's character archetype.
The character archetype of Goku, is a synthesis of Shintoism, Confucianism, Daoism and Buddhism. In this case,
For Buddhism they believe in innate buddhahood for all sentient beings(which includes all evil doers like King Piccolo, Frieza, Cell, Kid Buu, Zamasu, and even Moro).
(Zen Buddhism)
One of the coolest things to come from Dragon Ball, is "Migatti No Gokui".
Which contradicts some Buddhist ideas of the non-self(atman)
I really think people need to understand that the Eastern Philosophy in Asian cultures is vastly different than in Western cultures.

The fact that this all works better being read back to back rather than in short spurts shows the level of careful writing and note taking. They made this so that upon revisiting it, it would be better because of the pacing.
I’m so glad you got me into goat piece, but it’s a blessing that there’s a db vid, without a hating opinion on the Moro arc like many others
Did you seriously forget to bring up Majin Buu's whole purpose in the arc? How he was the reason the arc got started, his really fun fight against Moro, and the additions to his backstory. Come on dude.
I agree, though at the same time not. Buu was only a trigger for the arc to occur. Then he got to beat up Moro for a bit. And then he was out for the rest of the arc. Now he did wake up to find uub but what did he do other than telling uub to just put his hand in the air. They could've more with him since buu was a magical being as well.

@@oscar3153 that’s not full circle though. @@CoryFenix That’s solved in the Ganohola arc where we learns to,let go of his guilt and thus gets Ultra Ego. He WAS destined for hell lol. He was a villain
Yeah, it's frustrating. He did kill Kid Buu though.

Well stated, I really liked Merus as a character, in some ways I'm actually glad that he wasn't killed off as soon as being introduced.
@@yiangaruga4928 I actually agree with you. I think that losing immortality was a good consequence for his actions, but he came back to fast. It felt weightless.
I think that actually exploring the mindset of Goku, after losing his friend, would be way more interesting. Even if they wanted to bring him back, I believe that an entire arc should be set up for his revival (maybe the whole crew would start to look for the Super Dragon Balls in order to bring him back to life or something).
@@yiangaruga4928 Now, about Merus helping Goku to achieve MUI. I thought that was actually interesting. Suppressing your emotions in order to get stronger. That's new for Dragon Ball.
It also felt earned instead of a mere ass pull. After Super Saiyajin 2, I feel like every other transformation came out of nowhere (especially Super Saiyajin 4 and Blue). MUI, on the other hand, was the outcome of Goku's training with two angels. He learned how to control his emotions and there was lot of trial and error as well.
At least that's my take on it.
@@yiangaruga4928 I greatly disagree, I think coming back as a mortal was a good consequence fitting his character. I also disagree on your thoughts of Goku mastering MUI. Merus literally told him earlier that the key to unlocking ultra instinct was to have self control in a chaotic moment (or something along the lines of this), and Merus death was a perfect time for him to achieve ultra instinct given this prerequiste. Usually Goku would just get a rage boost there, but he managed to mantain self control in order to master ultra instinct.
mark literally watched the entire one piece series whilst waitng for the moro arc to finish

After reading this, I have a newfound respect for Goku's character. especially towards the end
I honestly am really impressed with Toyotaro. I think he will be a very good successor to Toriyama.
No no no no no. God no. Fucking think man my God.

@@Alyumic Isn't that the same as underestimating his opponents? (9 months late, I know)
@@kirby778confeti5 not necessarily he could know fully well how good his opponent is and still try and fight them because he just thinks he's so much better even if he knows how powerful his enemy is
Glad that Uub FINALLY got introduced. I complained from the beginning of Super that I was kinda upset that he wasn't in it. I love Uub.
Wasn't Uub already introduced in the Top arc
@@jahnaviketha6300yes, at least in the anime
@@dankerbellmanga too I believe
Love him? 😂
You cannot call that a character
Mark redeemed himself in relation to the Moro arc like Vegeta did inside the Moro arc
DBS haters denying its canon when it says written by Akira Toriyama 🥴
@LeoGBA that is the worst excuse i've heard lol. Its crazy that they say that.
@LeoGBA toriyama not involved? He is def involved
In what world did anyone say it's not Canon?
It's just a bad show is what it is.
@@adoogabadooga9271 kinda crazy even doe it’s bad miles better then gt lmao.
@@adoogabadooga9271 A lot of people try to say that Battle of Gods and everything that comes after is non canon, which is an objectivley false claim.
