Bruh, I feel you about leaving the sketch at 85% perfection for real. Every time I 100% the sketch, like you said, I definitely feel like I lose something in the transfer to the inked version. So would much rather wing the last 15% so I dont inflict that frustration and minutes (sometimes hours) of work trying to get the line art just right lol.

    I love csp

I usually use Clip Studio Paint for my comics, and it's my number 1 choice to make comics digitally. But, when I want to color like this way, you know, soft shades, I have a hard time figure out how to do it. I still haven't picked up my right tools for CG in this way.
Anyway, awesome art on Clip Studio Paint. Keep making something awesome!

It makes me really happy to see your process is very simple but effective for digital art. Growing up, I always had it in my head that I had to make things more complicated for myself otherwise I wasn't putting in enough work? It's weird, but seeing this makes me feel better at being more simple with my art.

I've been a traditional portrait artist for quite a few years kind of as a slightly paid hobby. Typically I would use pencil, color pencil, watercolor, or all of them combined. For a very long time, I have wanted to get into the digital realm but life finds a way to screw me. If I'm making enough money to afford the monthly subscription to Photoshop, I don't have the time to use it because that money is coming from a 70 plus hour a week construction job. I could never get the following I would need to promote my art because, while my work might be stunning, I just don't have the social skills to deal with people. I saw that there is a buy it now price for Clip Studio of $50. If that's all I would have to pay to have the ability to start my digital journey, this is a Godsend. Also, I love your style. I feel I've all but killed my desire for ultra realism with my art, and seeing these stylized works, such as yours has really peaked my interest.

    Matthew 25:31-46

    The Sheep and the Goats
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

clip studio has... auto save, with extremely quick saves, that you can set to any time increment, so you don;t have to worry about losing too much work.
It also has... auto flatting tools. The combination of its ability to set a reference layer for tools like close and fill and paint unfilled areas, means flats, especially for the more painted styles, are almost instant. Especially with line work as clean as yours.
These work flow changes are some of the biggest mistakes newcomers to clip studio make. They use it like procreate or photoshop when clip studio is so much more than those two programs. I realise this is your first use of the software, but if you take a little time to explore some of its more unique features, I know very few people that have ever gone back to anything else.
Not to mention ipad and desktop versions being identical, with iPad actually having the edge due to its sidebar hotkeys.
Having done my art digitally for close to 20 years now, and having used alot of software that has come and gone... across multiple updates... photoshop, procreate, painter, kirita, paint tool sai, sketchbook... absolutely nothing comes close to clip studios tool set.
The only reason I still use photoshop, for anything, is custom shapes, but thats a very specific workflow most don't need.
Anyway, lovely image, and I do highly recommend exploring some of clip studios more unique tools. Close and fill paint bucket tool and set reference layer combination for flat colors, being one of them ;)

Good results even not being familiar with the software, I work mostly in CSP and for your style I am certain is the best software you can use, after a couple of days you will be on track just take advantage of the tools of CSP has, because I can tell you dozens of things CSP can do while PS can’t, from improved navigation and workflow, vector layers (PS doesn’t work with vectors) rulers, flatting(better I king brushes and tools and supreme fill tools), full use of 3D models (PS is far behind about 3D manipulation integration) from my perspective Photoshop isn’t for artists if for photography while CSP is absolutely oriented to become the best tool for artists, plus the price make it the BEST option in the market

Forgive me if this is a noob question... i have seen a few artists doing this; however, yours definitely had the best result. Thanks in advance!!

    • @omgfarore
      @omgfarore 2 года назад

Flipping your canvas frequently while drawing is a great tool for improvement because it forces your brain to see the image with a fresh perspective every time. Especially while sketching it's important to flip regularly so you can see any perspective skew, weird angles, lack of symmetry, etc that you wouldn't notice otherwise because your brain quickly gets used to what it's looking at and fills in the gaps to make the drawing look more accurate than it actually is. As for choosing to flip this pic only at the end, I suspect Cosmic just decided she liked the composition better that way.

@@CosmicSpectrumArt yeah I'm not getting much results from the blender brush. It might be a bug or something with current clip studio or its just me.

@@CosmicSpectrumArt Nevermind. I had to change my tip feel sensitivity on my tablet to even get the brush to show clear results. Could you tell me if you have your pen setting somewhere? Sorry for bugging so much. Just wanted to get to the bottom of why this brush seems to function this way. I tend to have my pen set in the center between soft and firm. Only setting it to all the way to soft seems to make it work.

@@buttpicker247 That's weird. My settings are default for the classic pen, i also noticed that i used the other pen (the one that comes with cintiq) at a setting 1 tick closer to firm, so the opposite of what you said.
Have you used blending tools before, do you know what to expect? Just wondering if maybe you expect it to function differently from how it actually does or something haha.
