For as long as I had Clip Studio I never used the vector tools because I thought they were more of a graphic design thing. I'm so dumb. Needless to say, this video just blew my mind and I'm frantically looking up tutorials to incorporate this into my lineart.

I've been a tireless advocate for Vector Layers since I discovered the feature's appeal some 5 years ago! I've been a lonely voice in the wilderness until only recently. Glad to see it finally get its due. And Steven only helps its attraction. This alone makes CSP worth it!

Vector layers/tools in csp are probably the most time saving features in any program I have tried so far. Apart from lineart, you can manipulate complex textures like ornament etc when you paint them in a vector layer. Also the coloring process is much easier with vector layers, in addition to what was demonstrated in the video, the fill tools have a sub setting called fill up to vector path which practically guarantees to cover your lineart with color underneath and therefore when coloring you can easily manipulate the lineart color with blending modes. On the lagging, it definetely depends on the specs of your system, but brushes can also cause a lot of lag when used in bigger sizes more so if they have color blending properties. Finally on all your brush settings you can check a setting called vector magnet which as the name suggest drawing over the same line merges it to one single path, I find this feature useful for long continuous lines

Very impressive drawing specially if it's your first in CSP. It looks like Kentaro Miura's (R.I.P.) art in the latest Berserk chapters.
There's a way to make digital drawings very similar to traditional ones in this awesome program, but it depends on the brushes and the technique you're using.
Some artists I've seen doing this were Shinichi Sakamoto (a mangaka), Dave Rapoza, and Hanzo1011.

As someone who's used Clip Studio since it was only called Manga Studio, I can attest that as a drawing program it's bonkers. And that's the biggest thing about it, it's a drawing program, not a "digital photo drawing illustration 3D application". Almost all the tools in it work towards making drawing faster and more fun. Oh and the fact that it has tools for perspective.. and digital mannequins which give you perspective guides also make iterating on ideas and concepts and ideas so much more fun.

For the little gasp that the bucket leaves you can also use the "paint unfilled area" under the same fill subtool, that feature lets you fill those spots by only dragging your pen over the unpainted spots. Amazing video and inkning skills!!

Your style of hatching remembers kentaro miura, a mangaka that drawns monsters, he uses a lot this technique, and i will gonna say you are really good in inking, and there is lot of strokes that can use, different pens and inks, just sit down relax and do happy accidents, have a nice day

Yes! Digital inking has been obssession of mine, personally I work in a monochrome layer in CSP. I personally love the 'tooth' in inking traditionally and found that by working in a monochrome layer I could replicate that. There are special brushes I use that replicate dry brush pens and microns that really help with the flow of my work.

Hey steve, nice video. I have a question about how you change your brush size, do you manually change it or do you use some kind of mechanical wheel like ahmed? I wanna buy a tablet with one of those, but i dont know if that would truly help with effieciancy, seeing you inking like that made me think about how do you manipule the size of the strokes so fast and naturally on digital.
