All the designs are so nice, I'm certainly nowhere near as skilled so I don't see the flaws as easily, but your breakdowns and explanations on how to push things even further make so much sense and I can really visualise how much more effective the designs would be with those adjustments. Super great video, very informative and insightful!!
Wow, its so cool that your mentorship program is so affordable! 50$/h for having you just with a few other students help someone is amazing! I am not a character designer or even an artist but I really enjoy your teaching style and how practical your advice is! So cool!
Jackie, you've helped deepen the way I think about creating art. Your videos are so informative and always fun and calming to watch. Thank you for inspiring and teaching artists 😊
I found you on shorts and I love it. Now idk if this is a purely adult targeted channel but I'm in highschool and I've taken, and currently taking art right now and both of the teachers are absolutely horrible. I just don't feel like it's what an art class should be. And from seeing your short on that witch character made me think thats how teaching art should be done, I love it
Hi Jackie! I recently purchased your Domestika course on character design- and was super excited because you’re one of my favorite artists! Unfortunately I was unknowingly signed up for the plus account and charged over $100 without my consent, and on the account it says there is no way to get a refund 😭 Apparently this is a common scam with the service when you buy a course. If you could offer any help or advice it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!
Another great video Jackie! Love the your explanation of having a "busy side" with a "clean side". Im not a chracter designer myself but I do backgrounds. Thinking I might take this aproach with some of my designs. Thanks! :D
I’ve just started my first year at university, and I’m really inspired by these videos! My goal is to develop a strong body of work over the next couple of years, and by my second or third year, that I hope to have built up a more professional portfolio! Maybe one day I can submit it here so I can get valuable feedback on and continue improving! Please keep up the amazing work, your videos inspire me so much!!!
Um novo video, um novo aprendizado, aleluias I had an artistic block for about 6 years, and well, I'm finally overcoming this bogeyman and managing to illustrate again. It's not been easy, but I finally feel like I'm leaving this block behind! And I am so excited!!! I really want to work with character design, and thanks to your videos, I see that it's quite possible to make this dream come true, so thank you, Jackie!!! One day, I'll send you my portfolio hahaha
love the angel CEO devil assistant kinda thing, the CEO all head in the clouds and the assistant is hard core getting the job done, making things happen she needs a raise tho
I'm developing a new character on my own, your work is amazing, I've become your biggest fan, thank you very much for the precious tips, a big hug from Julio Freire here in São Paulo Brazil
i love Jackie's portfolio reviews- the energy she brings is so upbeat and positive that when receiving feedback, it doesn't feel like an attack but a push in the right direction :3 i think that's so important bc it not only motivates the artist being reviewed but other ppl who are looking for ways to improve
can you make a video talking about your day to day work responsibilities and how character design/vis dev contracts work? I've read that a lot of character designers have to find new projects frequently because once the character design portion is finished, your work on the production is done. Does that make it difficult to get a stable income in this industry?
Hi Jackie, could you do a video on how to design and make your own character and maybe fit them into a story? I struggle with it a lot and would love some tips!❤
Amazing video but was the ceo and assistant design intentional like the assistant is the hardworker and the ceo looks like they are out of touch with reality (the actual work). That's just my perception
My hunch is that working for a studio is more financially doable when starting out. Once you build up some runway, you can then invest in your own projects. That's my guess? Plus there's probably really good training you get from working on big projects collaboratively
When working on different projects how do you teach yourself to draw in the different styles? Especially for creating new characters that there isn’t a character sheet for yet.
Hey Jackie I was wondering, how do you feel about reviewing animation portfolios? I was sure your exclusively character design portfolios, I just wanted to be sure😊
Jackie, could you inform us about the viability of working when you don't have a work visa? I am never sure if I'm allowed to apply, I'm from Brazil and they usually ask if I am legally allowed to work there and it has something to do with the visa. I don't know if I need a special visa or if by default everyone is able to get this visa unless we have some dodgy past or something. So I never know if I can check I'm allowed to work there. Information isn't readily available online about that either.
You generally need a valid work visa to be employed legally in another country. Each country has its own immigration rules and work visa requirements. It’s crucial to check the specific requirements for the country you’re interested in working in. If you're trying to work remotely, without relocation, you might not need a visa unless the employer states specifically that you do for one reason or another. Some countries have specific remote work visas. I'd suggest checking out the countries website where the studio you're applying to is located to get details about their specific policies and procedures or you could speak with an embassy or consulate.
Thank you for sharing this awesome video. Actually, I have a question from anyone here who is making their portfolio. Is it possible to add a turn around video made by Tvpaint to a portfolio pdf? Or it's only possible for uploading on the website?
do you guys know any websites that are ood for making and uploading portfolios (for free ?) i'm using carrd but i'm very limited with the number of projects i can post on that website...
seems like you want kevin to take on your style. if someone is going for a more grounded, subtle, less exaggerated look, that's a stylistic choice. it doesn't need correction.
the thing is that she's not changing his style but rather making them stand out. The exaggerated proportions I agree with, but the poses or appeals should pop out more and need to get more interesting just to not make them look plain or boring. They are the main characters, after all.
@@JM-nr4tf nope, the poses are a huge part of the style. imagine batman doing those silly exaggerated poses that she demands. no one would say that makes sense. but for her, she can say that everything should be over the top goofy. that's not right. stop licking her boots. she's wrong,

Why are you blaming the mail app when you can just configure it to your preference? Like, this seems like a weird oversight in order to condemn a really useful feature. I agree copy paste button is helpful but harder to implement on no-code sites. Plus, it feels more like an issue with Mac defaults than the feature itself. Also worth pointing out that 50% of US uses apple mail client.
Im just not sure i know anyone who opts for clicking the mail button instead of copy-pasting an email address into their client or site of choice. Most of the people i know use a site instead of an actual programme, like gmail for example. aaaand not everyone is from the US
