Anyone who hasn't played and beaten this game is missing out on a real treat. I beat it last year. It's hands down my favorite JRPG.

I've beaten this game several times now. Once when I was much younger and the rest when I was older. It just never gets old and the story is incredible.

Drawoh dot Hell yes. One of the best games ever made. Pretty much perfect in every way. To this day, I don't think I've come across a game that had more love put into it than Chrono Trigger. If you are even remotely a fan of JRPG's, you owe it to yourself to play this. The defining title in the genre.
I remember my first time playing CT. Seems just like yesterday, when it was actually just under ten years ago. Now I see more people are still getting to experience it for the first time. That's when you know a game is timeless (pun only slightly intended).

I didn't really care for zeal for some reason... at least not at the time. Not high enough energy. I think I'm starting to like it more now that I'm about 20 years older though.
xelink 12,000 B.C. is so awesome in that game, especially when you first enter and it appears to be nothing more than a snow-covered world... Until you travel up to Zeal.
Discovering the floating kingdom of Zeal for the first time remains one of my "Top 3 Greatest Gaming Moments of All Time" to this day.

I listed to this when i was 14 years old. Every few years i come back amd rewatch. Im turning 25 soon.
This is the one track from this game that completely floored me. Not just the music itself, but the context in which it's presented. You're sent to a icy wasteland and then suddenly surprised by a sunny Shangri-la/Atlantis like paradise with this track to bring home that point.

Today's release of Schala's theme brought me here for nostalgia....Corridors of Time, Schala and Magus' theme are my favorites in the entire game. I've got a thing for Zeal, evidently

All three are objectively brilliant pieces of music.
I love how he always looks happy in his videos. People tend to make fun of video game music or at least not take it seriously but for me it brings back very happy memories and nostalgia. Songs done like this just make me smile and be in a better place instantly. Thanks and well done Smooth McGroove.

Not to mention the fact that video game soundtrack is indeed something really serious. I mean... someone came up with something that would make you fell however you feel. And to do that the composer used apropriate techniques and experience he got through years studying and practicing music.
I am a musician and I don't have any idea on how to achieve this or that atmosphere for a given scenario...

I imagine it's a lot like a movie. Sure, the actors might suck and the plot could be terrible, but the one thing that is SUREFIRE to set the mood is the music. In this case, the music is icing on the cake.
It was actually THIS particular video, some years ago that really made me realize Smooth here wasn't just making vids to nod the head to but really engraving a piece of his soul onto em. Hell..one cant HELP but smile...even if the melancholy memories of years gone by come flodding back in.

This game is actually close to my heart. It's the game that my dad told me to play. I remember playing it day and night.
I'll run to him whenever i need help or I'd I'm stuck. He taught me triple combo and other triple techniques. He reminisce how he plays it with his friends and how hard it is to beat back then cause there's no net.
Now I rarely see my dad. He left home.. He left us and this reminss me of how close we are before..

As someone who generally hates JRPGs, I loved Chrono Trigger. It's a brisk 20-25 hour game that doesn't waste your time with needless grinding and has an amazing story.
I'd have given anything to live in Enhasa. Gotta be one of the coolest environments in any rpg. Just beautiful...

This track is so good I wish I had played the game when I was still a child so that the nostalgia would be overwhelming today. Too bad it was ahead of my time.

Munzu Ah. Also Nostalgia is typically a bad thing. Its the primary emotion used in propaganda. Just something to keep in mind. I'm amazed that I played it only a few years ago and then, and now, feel its a work of art. Knowing its NOT nostalgia that fuels my love of the game is a great feeling.

I watched a speed run of Chrono Trigger the other day and I forgot just how amazing it was. They don't make games like this anymore.

I played this game almost 15 years ago, and it was just by coincidence, just searching for good rpg games, and then, this masterpiece appeared, the moment when you enter the Zeal kingdom and this song hits... man.... just wonderful.

I played this game when I was at university in the early 2000's. Couldn't believe 24 years have already passed by... Anyway, this was one of my best JRPGS together with FF7, FF8 and FFX and legend of dragoon. Many memories and emotions. You are a MAGUS ;-) Epic work!

So many wonderful memories are connected to this game and this song in particular...
I used to play it with my mother back in the day. She wasn't much of a fan of video games yet, but Chrono Trigger, Terranigma and Tetris won her over.
This song was one of the few I remember us humming along whenever we got to that part. ;_;
It hurts bitterly right now, since my mother is in Rehabilitation after she suffered a heart attack in early January. She had been in Coma for 3 weeks after that and contact has started slowly about a week ago.
We can only see her for a short time over Skype, when the Nurses and Doctors allow it.
Hearing this song made me choke up a little. :,(

Currently playing through the DS version of Chrono Trigger for the first time. Never gotten to play the DS version before, and found a great deal for a complete in box copy. Seeing the cutscenes have been pretty dope!
Anyway, got to Antiquity, heard the track, then had to come back here to hear Smooth's version again. One of my all-time favorite tracks, and he KILLS this rendition. Best cover ever.

I like this theme, but is somewhat sad...
Zeal itself is a sad place - an empire on the verge of collapse yet no one's aware of it. We know it doesn't end well and that adds to it.

The entire game of Chrono Trigger is bittersweet to me. It's one of my favorite games of all time...and it always reminds me of an old childhood friend who I haven't seen or heard from in years. He's the one who first introduced me to the game 18 or so years ago. We played through the entire game one summer, and it was one of the best summers of my life. Everytime I play this game and hear the music...it invokes strong memories of a wonderful time in my life that has long since passed.
