The humble Indian age old Haldi doodh has been Americanized as golden latte 😂 oh if I know correctly, it’s taken when suffering from any common flu/cold and a bad cough to ease it out. Pepper and sugar ( the og recipe) are used to combat cough and turmeric to combat the infection and inflammation! Not to activate the turmeric! Vanilla is not traditionally used so that’s the Starbucks style extra I guess 💁🏻‍♀️ No patronizing intended! Infact I enjoyed the video presentation and your sweet voice! 💕

Turmeric milk has been consumed for ages in India. The typical way we make it in our home is 1 cup of any milk, a teaspoon of cumin powder, 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger, a pinch of pepper and of course turmeric .. at half a teaspoon. Bring it all to a quick boil. Sweeten with honey as you showed in the video or a tiny piece of jaggerry. It's just too good for your health. Aids good sleep, heals inflammation and joint pains, aids digestion and helps keep your body warm from within. Excellent drink for winters.

Turmeric is an excellent anti-inflammative. That is major property but it has so many benefits that you can find when going in detail. Have the Golden milk the way she made, and yes avoid using artificial sweeteners, she used honey so sticking with natural ones is beneficial. This golden milk is excellent for Muscle soreness, cold, flu, Sleep troubles etc etc. Originally originated in India, this recipe was given as a Testosterone booster by the bride to the groom on their first night of marriage. That was a ritual but there was medical science behind that.

You shouldn't boil your almond milk. You can heat till it starts to steam, but boiling kills anything good in it (like boiling can kill honey). Easy to make your own and better for you. As for cinnamon, you should use Ceylon Cinnamon, not the grocery store Saigon Cinnamon. Saigon Cinnamon has 2000-5000 ppm coumarin in it. Coumarin (Warfarin) is a known blood thinner and is used in heart patients. Too much ingestion of this cinnamon over time can damage the liver. It's also very easy to make homemade vanilla. Store bought vanilla also has questionable ingredients.
Otherwise, I make the dry mix and store in a mason jar and just add one teaspoon of the mix to a cup and pour hot water (or almond milk or coconut milk) in, stir, add honey, and enjoy.

    • @MsBeachLizard
      @MsBeachLizard 5 лет назад +4

Joy Schultz I prepare a dry mix for an 8 oz Mason Jar in the following mix:
      Ingredients Needed:
      Organic Turmeric -- 9 Tablespoons
      Organic Ginger -- 1-1/2 Tablespoons
Organic Blk Pepper -- 3/4 teaspoons
Organic Ceylon Cinnamon -- 3 teasp
      Raw Honey -- to taste
Organic Coconut Milk -- to taste
      Instructions:
      1. Measure out first four ingredients into 8 oz Mason jar, close lid and shake well to mix. (At present, I purchase all dry ingredients in bulk from Amazon at very reasonable prices. However, I have started growing my own turmeric and ginger.)
      2. Heat water in a kettle or pan on the stove. I do not use a microwave.
      3. While water is heating, in large mug, place honey and One (1) slightly heaped teaspoon of mixture into a large mug; pour in heated water about 2/3 full.
      4. Add Coconut Milk to taste and stir.
      * You can use almond milk (make your own) but not as creamy.
      * If you like more or less cinnamon, feel free to play with your ingredients! Ceylon is milder than Saigon Cinnamon but it is smooth and very nice.
      * You can add a touch of lemon juice if you like.
      * You can also add a splash of MCT Oil. MCT is a medium chain triglyceride (fractionated) coconut oil that is more bioavailable to the body. It's a healthy fat -- and like black pepper, it also makes the turmeric more bioavailable to the body. This is, of course, optional. But the black pepper is not.
      * If you prefer, you may use the nut milks as a base in lieu of the heated water, but it will add to the cost. That's why I add the coconut milk as a type of creamer (for lack of a better way to put it). I prefer the coconut milk creamy consistency with this tea. The whole drink is very soothing and yummy. And good for you!
NOTE: Turmeric will stain!!! Use a few paper towels underneath as you're preparing your mix. Just in case you accidentally spill any.... IDK what kind of countertops you have, but a bit of spray bleach will take care of mine.
      Enjoy!! 🤓

I love "golden milk". Tastes real good. And I feel refreshed after.
The only downside is the staining. Turmeric stains the tongue really easily. After drinking turmeric, I'd have to brush my teeth, but it will take a day or two for the yellow to completely go away. The bristles of my toothbrush even turn yellow, and it will NEVER turn back to it's original white colour. Not fun 🤣 Any tips???
