Princess has had medallions for years that includes tracking your family. The technology is great, very convenient and safe. The rest of the cruise lines need to step up their game and get rid of the cards.
You can turn off that function, though.
It is amazing what will set some people off; they apparently have no self control and see themselves as being wronged when, in fact, they are wrong. Several months ago, on the Carnival Glory, I walked directly to the priority desk at guest services (my right as a Diamond passenger). Suddenly heard a guy screaming at me about cutting in line; at a normal volume I told him I had Diamond status and was in the right place. He replied that he didn’t care if I was gold. The sad, upsetting thing about this encounter was that the man who was screaming at me, an eighty-year-old woman, had his two young boys standing by his side! What a horrible example he set for them!

the 'Kid Finder' would also be great for vulnerable adults; i.e., those with autism, downs, dementia, etc. We travel with our adult autistic son often.
I've been on 9 carnival cruises & have yet to see a fight. Then again we never cruise when a lot of kids are on like summer, & spring break.😮

I’m a teacher so I can only vacation on school breaks and on NCL at least have never seen a fight, physical or verbal
My mom was on the Carnival Breeze with family & friends recently. She said there were no fights that popped off while she was there. Of course that's not to say they don't happen at all. And on my last cruise with NCL I didn't see any fights going on. Only fights with Mother Nature with all the fires & hurricane winds going on at the time in Hawaii 🌬🔥.

Idk. I’ve been on four cruises with Carnival and the guests have always been nice and and the crew professional. But, we always sail in January. Maybe that’s a big factor.
One of the best things princess does is the medallion system tracks location of your shipmates. You can see where they are on a map and get directions to find them.
Royal should have something similar. It's nice not just for kids if you get separated from your party. On Princess it works down 10ft to 20ft.
I just understand anyone losing it so much they will get in a physical fight. I’m 73 and have NEVER started or gotten into a physical fight, except with my 5 brothers when I was a kid. And I love the kid tracking.
Would love to see carnival switch to wristbands. They could do different colors for loyalty levels.
Love they have the trackers coming out and that they aren't charging! Will be great for parents, but also for families that are sailing with certain family members, like early stage dementia.
Dementia patients should sail without same sex minder. Too many points of separation at port bathrooms, etc.

I have been cruising for 34 years with 400 days at sea and have never seen ANY fights on a ship. I do think the bev packages are a large part of the problem, but clearly it is also something about the type of passenger attracted to certain lines. I don't see such classless behavior on the cruise lines on which we sail (mostly Princess, but also Celebrity and some smaller lines). I haven't sailed on Carnival since 1997 (and won't) nor on NCL since 2007 (and won't) nor ever on MSC (and won't).
So you pure saying people who sail Carnival are classless? Clown!!! I’ve been on 8 Carnival cruises, absolutely has class and NEVER HAS seen anyone fighting. I’ve seen nothing but bubbly passengers simply having a great time unlike my RC experience of stick in the mud, boring folks and boring entertainment.
If carnival has a problem with this, then they need to fix it. This is the kind of people they are attracting and that's what comes with it.

Fights can happen anywhere
Honestly the answer is simple but many would say it’s not fair but pricing the LCD out will get rid of probably 70-80% of their issues.

The same is true with Carnival, every quarter the cruise lines release incident reports & guess who is #1.

Disney has a tracking Ban that track up to 3 feet. They knew exactly where my child was when we went to pick her up from the kids floor. Pretty cool. But it would be nice to add it to the app also

Disney had a version of this. I got one for my daughter years ago.
We use wristbands that hold AirTags for our kids on vacation. However I am see reasons why Cruise lines would want to manage the tracking with technology they can manage.
They need a “husband finder” cause some husbands get lost.
The reason they didn’t roll out the child finder sooner is because they are worried about liability if a kid gets lost and they have the band. They want to make sure they don’t het sued if the system fails.
Zero tolerance is what Carnival should employ! My hubby with 51 yrs of port experience doesn’t want me on paradise which is easier for us since we live in Carrollwood section of Tampa. We both love Carnival out of port Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale & even Miami (nope Jax) The Longshoreman are a union that protects their own; never starting fights. But definitely ending them quickly 👍🏾😍 We ride dirty, as neither skies or seas are “friendly “ we don’t want 2 leave as passengers & come back as cargo. 💯
I have been in the elation and for a first cruise it wasn’t bad, but definitely a once and done ship.
At least they both made their 15 drink maximum.
Disney has that. The parents don't track on the app, but when you pick your kids up from their club, they know excatly what part of the club they are in from the computer.
Princess Medallion you can track everyone in your party. Makes it nice at times.

The wow band is available for all Royal Caribbean guests on supported ships. Suites get it for free but all other passengers can buy it for $7.99 at guest services.
Disney does this...been doing it for years. Im happy Royal is implementing it now.

My issue on both Royal and Carnival is the amount of children running the halls after midnight!
The unattended minors.
If the cruise lines have a policy that charges families after 10 to watch them, they should be charging the families for the kids running up and down the hallways.
The kids are just having fun! But they should not be in the halls where people could be sleeping.
And as for the fighting…. I am actually getting concerned for the safety of the workers on board!!!

I am so glad I have never in all my years of cruising seen fighting like this.
I have been seeing bad behavior and choices lately, but this behavior is hard to tackle for the cruise lines.
We are all there to relax
People go on vacations to escape this sort of crapola. Seems like nowadays, especially with Carnival, it attracts the type of people you’re trying to avoid.
I understand that people want to drink and enjoy themselves on the ship, I enjoy a few drinks every now and then too but don’t drink too much that you get like this or even black out.
If I'm not mistaken, Disney already has magic bands for their kiddos
The problem with the wow bands or whatever you want to call them it that a child old enough to be out and about on their own can easily remove the band if they don’t want to be found!
That fight definitely looked like drinks was involved 😂😂 and the new tracking system implemented by Royal Caribbean should definitely be immediately used across all ship lines!!!!
Plus it should be used for all guess, or at the least, everyone under 21.

I just got off the carnival Conquest July 8th through the 12th had a good time. But parents are not watching their children.. it was a gang of kids had to be between the ages of 10 to 16 running from the little dead the promenade that the lobby through the casino. Then on the last day of the cruise here goes the fight I don't know what carnival is going to do. But they're going to have to do something. On these three to four day cruise they need to beef up more security

I am SO glad they FINALLY came out with the kids' bands. I've been telling others to use air tags and get like a fun or festive band to attach it on. This need to be rolled out Industry wide!!! Even in the theme parks I dare say.

It’s great that parents can track their kids, epically the younger ones. But I wouldn’t want someone else being to see my children with an app. I am not saying people would use this tech. With Malicious intentions, but the risk is there, so privacy must be properly tested to protect the children.

That location technically should be given to everyone. It would probably help when trying to figure out a MOB or lost person that may be a bit older or forgetful.
19 carnival cruises over 20 years. Never seen a fight.
No, the technology allowing parrnts to track their children isn't just about having the bands. Quite a lot of processing is needed to track large numbers of bands and report back to large numbers of mobile devices.
Also, I don't think tracking the teenagers bands will be useful -- if some kid doesn't want to be followed, they will just leave the band in their cabin.

Princess already had this with their Medallion system. They know where passengers and staff are at all times. Can find family members easily.
Princess medallion system has a tracking feature on them. Whenever I split apart from my cruise buddy we find each other with the tracker. "Royal & the other lines need to step up & take Princess Crusies lead" should be the headline
Carnival people don't get upset when you equally cite. It was the fact that that post was supposed to be about another cruise line. You wouldn't show the video if that cruise line. But did show that carnival fight video, discussed carnival, but already posted the carnival fight in another video.

The wrist band sounds great in theory. My only negative thought is will this give parents even more license to just let their small children roam the ship unsupervised. One of our last sailings on the Harmony there was a little girl about 8 with her little sister who was about 5 all by their selves wailing for the elevator and no parents in sight and they traveled up,to the pool deck alone. This might tell you where you might locate your chill.. but it certainly won’t protect your child from anyone or trying to har them or any danger.
