      @@JSHIPLIFEthey're all very good, transparent and honest. What sets it apart is this can directly affect your livelihood. The good description of expectations and who the various cruises should appeal to and those it would not. It would be easy just to say it's great theres something for everyone. Which would be most likely true, in a sense. But being able to offer the first hand experience is great customer service and satisfaction that gets repeat customers. They'd have a good time on one ship, but have a great time on another.

  • @michaelvitale4029
    @michaelvitale4029 Месяц назад +52

    A ship of this magnitude IS the destination. Notice how short the actual "cruise" is ? They've basically designed a "resort hotel at sea". When you home port in Florida, and set up itineraries to the Bahamas for 3/4 days, you operate at maximum revenue while burning a minimum of fuel. The revenue of a full ship doesn't change from day to day. But the operating expenses DO change based on the nautical miles traveled. Why travel 2,000+ miles on a 7 day cruise when you can sail just a couple hundred miles during the same 7 days ?

      @@kay22100 I think the problem is Kay they don't really take some of the big ships anywhere spectacular a lot of the time. Admittedly the cost of actually cruising to far away places will notch up the $ costs! The Amazon, and South American ports can be stunning places to visit. However each to his or her own! If you like just hanging out on the ship then good for you. Port days can be great if you just want some space on the ship and chill! 😉👍

  • @robzilla69

    Maybe it would be cool for those short sailings if you're not into visiting ports. It seems like it's all about the ship and the private island instead of visiting new places. I guess that's what most people want but I like to explore places these monster ships don't go. They are Killin it so I guess I'm in the minority. Great review Justin, and the hat, shirt combo is money!

It was a peaceful & quiet day until it was changed to an amusement park where cruisers spend more money to have “fun.”

      This! We just got off our first cruise ever onboard Symphony OTS this month for seven nights and these Utopia OTS weekend sailings are the same price that we paid when I booked Symphony last year. They’re making the same money in half the time, half the over head. It’s genius on their part.

  • @ChickenFriedCorgi
    @ChickenFriedCorgi Месяц назад +16

    Think thats the issue. smaller ships are generally fine for 3-4 days, in terms of 'stuff to do'. oasis class ships are 7+ day cruises in terms of shows, dining venues, etc. idk if you can even optimize every show and dining location and party in 4 days. Maybe you should try that! Equivalent of ppl doing like all rides in a day without fast pass challenges at disney lol.

    If I am going on a ship that is that big and has so many venues, then I want to cruise more the 3 or 4 days. Departing and Leaving takes two days so if it's 3 day you really only have one day to enjoy the ship, two if it's 4 days.

    • @monkeyb1820
      @monkeyb1820 Месяц назад

      I don't think they count the departure morning as one of the cruise days. So for a 3 day cruise, you board around noon on day one, and I think day 2 and 3 are full, you depart on the morning of day 4. At least this is how it typically works.

    Was just on this ship last week with my wife. My first cruise ever but my wife grew up going on cruises. We had an inward facing balcony overlooking Central Park on the 11th floor and honestly we didn’t have an issue with outside noise, and my wife is a light sleeper. I felt the room was much better at limiting outside noise than I expected. However, everything else he pointed out is spot on. It felt rushed, timing for stuff was off, and the food I felt was very underwhelming. We got lucky and got on the railway dinner show thing when someone cancelled and that food was better. The short ribs were truly spectacular. It seems this ship was trying to push specialty dining for the extra money. Which is fine but when I’d rather have eggo waffles than the waffles on a massive cruise line supposedly known for their food, that’s a problem. Everything was just bland and tasted low quality, mainly speaking to the Windjammer. I was really looking forward to the food and was kinda bummed tbh. Shows were great and really was the highlight of the cruise. That being said, we will definitely be back but not sure if it will be on Utopia until they offer 5-7 day cruises. 3 days, especially without a day at sea, just isn’t enough to truly enjoy everything on the ship. Didn’t like feeling like I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to play mental chess with how to spend our limited time on the ship.

      Obviously that's not an option for those of us with already limited funds to begin with. So people with a lot of disposable income would be able to do that. Or just do the back to back cruises as mentioned.

    The smart elevators are great if you are on the lower floors, (cove balconies on Carnival). Carnival doesn’t have them on the newest monster ships though. Guess that’s because many couldn’t figure them out. I wouldn’t want to be on a lower floor of a monster ship without them.

    So I appreciate your video because it isn’t “fluff”. Some may take offense to the rather pessimistic take but my bride and I are sailing out on the 16th of Sept for our 5th year anniversary, and I truly appreciate the TRUTH (from your perspective of course) about what to expect. I really believe we will be slightly overwhelmed with all that is available to see and do in just a 5 day/4 night cruise (her first cruise ever) but I did find the idea in your video of the back to back cruise to make it a 7 day rather intriguing.. wonderful idea… even down to the ports (not seeing or doing everything you wanted to do on the 3 day.. you can do on the 4 day when you go back). Last note: I hope the walls aren’t as thin as you suggest 😏

    This ship is simply too big for such a quick turnaround, too much trouble for a few days cruise. I’m actively looking for my next cruise and it will be on a much smaller ship. It will also be a 7 day cruise as it’s not worth the airfare from Boston to Florida for a few day sail. IMO

    • @MicrosoftWest
      @MicrosoftWest Месяц назад

      @@CathyEM The entire vibe is fun. The workers get you involved in the party and you literally meet people as soon as you leave your home port. There is lots of participation from cruisers and Carnival promotes that. Also, it is packed and the more the merrier. As on this video, not many people are even there for the RC party and the vibe is dead. As this creator said, it’s the “who” that is on the ship that makes the cruise. Most Carnival passengers appear to be more loose and free, whereas I found lots of RC passengers to be “stuck up” quite frankly. It was too much like business and not about fun.

    I feel like people in this comment section dont realize most new generation cruisers dont go for the ports but for the ships themselves. Its ment to be a resort on the sea and people want to stay on the ship and enjoy it. Let people enjoy what they like and not have to criticize what they enjoy. Clearly there is a reason cruising has had a new boom. If you like the old and small ships stick to those you dont need to yuck other peoples yum.

The food and service was awful, even in specialized dining- 150 gave me a dose of food poisoning due to fish cooked incorrectly and Caesar salad on a warm plate. It was documented as food poisoning! 😮

    I watched a bunch of videos and booked two cruises and we recently finished our first cruise on the Carnival Jubilee. I have traveled a lot in my life and this was the first time cruising and I must say that I really hated it. I felt trapped and the only parts that I liked were when we ported and did some beach time and snorkeling. We also booked Utopia of the seas for late January and we were looking forward to it and now, not so much. I do hope royals experience is better than carnivals. But I am not sure I would ever book another cruise I would much rather book a resort in the Dominican Republic or Bali and explore while still being in a controlled environment with our little one. Anyway, I really hope this Utopia cruise is an overall better experience, but this video made me think otherwise.
