My girlfriend and I haven't sailed on Icon, but I already went ahead and booked the Star of the Seas for December 2025. From the ship overview video you posted, her and I are very excited to go on this ship! We've only been on Liberty and Grandeur of the seas so this is going to be a big change of ship for us, literally and figuratively!
@@wavey61 That's what we're hoping for! When I booked the two cruises on those ships we were first time cruisers, so I had no idea of the different classes on Royal Caribbean. Now that I've been on a couple and understand things more, we're really looking forward to the Icon class!
@@ReneIsSoCool101Yes I know this is a bit late, but I’ve been on many Oasis class ships and one Icon class. Before, Oasis was my favorite, but after going on Icon it immediately became my fav! You will absolutely love Star! It is a much bigger jump than the Oasis class and it is SO worth it!
I was looking forward to that video, because some of the images we have been given make the Star look very similar to Icon ! Thanks once again for the great content !
We went to Pier 7 on our last day on Icon and absolutely loved it. I kinda like the idea of it being maybe exclusive to Icon so it is something unique to that ship.
Booked our suite on Star for November. Passed on Icon hoping they would tweak or add a few new ideas on Star and so for it seems to have paid off. Cant wait to see the final amenities. Also if we booked today the same room the price is $1000 more today than we paid this past May.
I think they need some kind of solarium. The reason is that where the adults only section on Icon is there 8s very little shade coverage. I have been on wonder, harmony, sympathy, oasis, Allure etc and the covered solarium is very very popular on all of those ships.
Hey Matt, keep the content coming. Can't wait to hear more and more new features for the upcoming star of the seas. Can't wait till they announce the new shows and when the beach clubs will be actually opening. We'll be on icon for New Year's and then doing a back-to-back On Star early 2026. Can't wait so will love to hear more and more about her as it's released. Thank you so much for all your continued information... Would also be interested to know if they're going to modify any of the new suite categories besides finishes
Honestly? I don't think we're going to be sailing on Icon or Star any time soon. Our currently booked cruises are on Harmony, Quantum, and Mariner. While we enjoyed Icon a lot, we definitely missed things about the Oasis ships too. I don't know that the net plusses were enough to justify the premium cost, especially since Harmony/Allure are sailing out of our home port in Galveston now.
The icon class has improved on the suite deck by adding a plunge pool. It would be nice if they could add a real pool for the suite guests compared to the Oasis class where the plunge is more for your ankles and it's really just an oversized hot tub.... that started on wonder n now utopia...they're slowly learning! Maybe the third icon will add something new. Can't wait!
We felt Icon offered less for our toddler than oasis class ships. With Star shifting Surfside to a higher age range, looks like we won't be going on another icon class until our toddler is closer to 5 yrs old. Maybe prices will come down slightly by then (or at least not continue to rapidly increase!)
Matt I know they said Star won't necessarily be any bigger than ICON in physical size, but when you start adding things like more pool space etc.. then it could possibly increase Gross tonnage and not necessary increase physical outside dimensions, so we know ICON came in at 248,663 gross tons, instead of the projected 250,800. Do we think that Star will actually reach 250k or the projected 250,800?
Matt, as a RC cruiser, I think they should have a section at their private Coco Cay for suite guests. Is that even a thought?? It's weird they have a private area in Haiti but not at Coco Cay.....
Hopefully they fix the cabin storage areas, however I’m sure that ship has sailed (pun intended) since they didn’t wait for feedback before building the Star.
RC needs to do something like Princess and their medallions, not bother with facial recognition. We really liked it on our last cruise. Plus you can track your family!
Icons prices have increased drastically since we booked a year ago. Just got off a back 2 back Nov. 2nd and the 9th, and was going to book for April. For the same room, it had gone up over 3k. They wanted over 12k for a family of 4. Insane!!! So we booked 2 rooms on Wonder for just under 8k.
I booked a Family Infinite Balcony Cabin on the Star of the Seas over the week of Thanksgiving 2025 and it's cheaper than the sailing for the Icon for the same week. I'm sure port fees have a something to do with that as the Star will be on a western Caribbean sailing and the Icon will be on an eastern Caribbean sailing.
It would be nice if they went back to the huge, covered solarium like on Oasis class ships. Also, get rid of those baskets in the rooms and bring back the drawers and more closet space like on Oasis class ships. I definitely don't like the junior suite on Icon; less room compared to other ships. If people want to pay more money for this, good for them! Oasis class is my favorite.
If you want a covered solarium, you will have to sail on Oasis class ships. Icon is a different class of ship, that's why it's called Icon class. Basically, you want them to move aqua dome back to the back of the ship and have a covered solarium in the front. OASIS CLASS! They have a new one like that called Utopia. 🤣😂🤣
@@victorlindquist5154 Obviously you didn't read or comprehend what I said! I said Oasis class is my favorite and I've been on plenty of them, including Utopia.

The fourth ship will be handed over in 2027, the contract also includes options for the fifth and sixth icon class ships. Let’s see if there is going to be updates to third and fourth ships.
Idk. I went to Disneyworld in 2019 we stayed at an entry level resort and I think I paid 7k for 6 or 7 nights, 5 days in the park and the dining package.

Really wish they'd put a hot tub in Surf Side for the parents especially since they realized parents didn't use the pool. I mostly just ended up sitting in the chairs for an hour while the kids played.
I’m booked for April 2026 and can’t wait. I really hope it has the crepes place! Other than that I’m excited to see the changes and looking forward to hearing what the entertainment will be!
Really I would be excited if they truly focused on upgrading what's actually on the plates in MDR I recall a couple of years ago at the Presidents cruise a kid innocently asked, why can't you take the same food and ingredients and just make it better? They need to partner with outside chefs and say: here's our budget per plate, please provide menus that are interesting, tasty, present well when plated and that we can easily and CONSISTENTLY monitor quality As high a price point as Icon is, there is no reason that they are serving the same mediocre dishes with weak quality control as you would get on Grandeur MSC recently was introspective about its food and really has stepped up its game. No reason Royal cannot SIGNIFICANTLY improve with a major shift in mindset Incremental changes focused only on driving down the cost and head count will continue to result in a sad MDR. They are taking in enough revenue to step it up
Teens and tweens on Carnival roam around the ship unsupervised like feral animals. We woke up many mornings to some areas of the ship torn apart and damaged. Eventually security had to be stationed around the ship to try and rein them in. I really wish cruise lines had more engaging, structured, and supervised programming for this age group. There is also a big liability having unsupervised minor children that might interact with drunk or unruly adults. Maybe Royal can come up with something.
Oh I swear they better fix the teen club. It was actually a letdown. Edit: I had expected to spend more time there. Instead, I was barely there as there was nothing to do.
@@RoyalCaribbeanBlog while I haven’t been to a teen club on other ships, (I’ll be going on Symphony in a few months) I have seen videos of the clubs on other ships (mostly from your channel) and heard from people. Speaking of people, I thought I’d make more friends there and while I did make a few, I made the majority of my friends walking around or just sitting on 15, 16, or in the Aquadome.
I’m surprised by their position on not making this the biggest ship by like one meter (compared to Icon). I am not sure I believe them! It ends up being such a big part of their marketing of each new ship in a given class. I think they care about this claim (even amid their own fleet) more than they say!
Looks great. Sadly, Royal Caribbean is no longer affordable if you want just a basic balcony cabin. We've been Crown & Anchor cruisers for about 20 years and prefer Royal Caribbean to other lines, but we can't manage to cruise on their newer ships. Not a huge loss since they all seem to only sail to the Caribbean and that's not interesting in the least to us. But it would be nice to be able to sail on a newer ship. Oh well. MSC it is. :(
I like RCL but they are creating more pay for food options with specialty restaurants. Why not improve the food options and create more eateries that isnt an extra fee. and have late night options.
With these family friendly mega ships I am baffled at how Royal STILL does not allow someone to search for rooms based on five people. Almost every other cruise line does. As a family of five it is such a hassle to do a search and find out what rooms are available for 5 people when I’m trying to book a cruise. Any word on if or when this will ever be an option?
Can I get a kidfinder bracelet for my boyfriend so i can find him on the ship? finding your spouse on the ship can get challenging too sometimes hahaha
Please advocate for us parents to have ways to communicate with our kids along with the kid trackers. The messaging doesn't even ding a notification. Also, please allow our children to bring their water bottles into the kids club. It is the dumbest thing to not allow. Have little cubbies they can be stored in. Our children have a blast and are so sweaty, which is fantastic, but they constantly complained about being really thirsty and not liking the gross water fountain. Have cubbies where they can keep their water bottles and have flooring that's easy to wipe if they spill and keep it as a designated area to rehydrate so they don't have to worry about spills in the general playing areas.
