When a Super Yacht Capitan is also a hidden vlogger inside what do you get? One of the best channels on RUclips with some of the best views and content along with behind-the-scenes access that only few were privileged to. In other words, views on views on views.
My wife asked me why I enjoy watching M/Y Loon on RUclips. It’s because of videos like this. Paul is such a likable guy (so is the crew!), where would I ever see a video of a tour up this river and…it’s not Below Decks! Shout out to eSysman Super Yachts for spending a segment in Monaco about Loon! The two best RUclips super yacht channels, bar none.
Brilliant, thank you, John. 😎

Paul does indeed appear to be a nice guy but I also get the impression that he's not a man you would want to "disappoint". He'd be a great boss but his expectations would be very high. That makes him an ideal superyacht skipper.
💯 percent agree, the 2 best channels on RUclips 😊

Ye, i agree 100%, the only 2 yachting channels that i follow.
Sorry i missed one, of course it's Nina, the Crew Chef.
Well done boss man!
We bought the boat
Just wanted to send a quick thank you for making these videos. I know you are very busy with your charters and I appreciate you taking the time to give us a glimpse into your life as yachties.
Your appreciation means a lot to us. It's a pleasure to share our yacht adventures with you. ☺️
Paul is not just a great captain but also a really good vlogger!
I'm learning from @thecrewchef 😎
And a pretty good tour guide 😅
Yes just watched this video, agree Captain Paul has made a great video really enjoyed coming up this River seeing these interesting places in Fort Lauder vale Well done!!
If I was younger (currently 61) I would be all over this life 👍
I too am 61 and I choose to live vicariously through this channel. We are never too old to dream! 🤣
Ditto
What is stopping you, BTW I'm 68
The wealth along the waterway is incredible. Just buying them for a place to park their "row boat" is another. Jeez. Thanks Paul for showing us the story, absolutely amazing as all the Loon vlogs. Off to the Med now. Paul it would be a hoot to set on the deck, drinking something cold and hearing the stories.
For those of us that can’t. Can through your videos. Thank you ❤️👍🇨🇦
English must be super hard for you 🤣🤣
Well said... 👏
Fabulous job as always fellas!🎉 " T/T Loon" will be waiting anxiously for her caring crews return. Thanks for sharing Captain, always a pleasure to watch.
I've had some experience with forklifts. Mostly moving loaded wood pallets around, in and out of steel racking, etc. Seeing that massive lift handle boats, and the racks full of boats, is just awesome! Thanks for showing how they do this!!
Little nervous that they have to reinforce the rack to hold the weight-especially up high!!
@@Marcelmopartruckguy For sure! Uhh... we'll get some better brackets....and then try something more than we've ever been rated for...
The coolest thing about those forklifts is that the forks have to go down into the water. Obviously a typical forklift’s forks don’t go lower than the wheels like these ones are designed for. So cool
Always up for learning something when Captain Paul is off loading knowledge....😊... same as the comment above.... im in my 60s now and totally love watching the Loon crew.. !
Thank you, Susan. ☺️
Keep bringing this content to us. As a land based creature, I learn so much about the yachting world. So interesting.
This is a sweet tour of the area from the Tender and the process of storing it. The video edit was also great; the music was normalized with the other audio, and even the little things, like the animation of the crew flag, really made the video great.
Another awesome video! Really loved all the tech details and the tour of the river was fun too. Two questions: 1. will the boat get shrink wrapped or covered in some way before going on the rack? 2. why not get a diesel powered chase boat so you can bunker from Loon? Just curious... Thanks for all the amazing content!!!
Thanks, Barry. Yes, we have a full boat cover for the tender. It was just off getting serviced. The cover will go on once the detailing team has finished before it goes up in the rack.
Unfortunately, Yamaha doesn't make diesel outboards. Our chase boat in the Med is a diesel, and we bunker it from Loon. Luckily, the HCB holds over 1,000 gallons of gas, so we don't need to bunker her that often.
Thanks for watching

Thank you Captain Paul and Team for another great educational and insight video. 🙏🏽🫶🏽 love from 🇯🇲💚💛❤️, 🇻🇨💙💛💚, 🇦🇺💚💛 and 🇳🇿🖤🤍
Loved the history lesson!! Nice job.
I grew up in that area and I've boated those rivers countless times. Thanks for the lovely trip down memory lane!
Really enjoyed this video! So interesting and informative. Nice to learn about another part of the whole picture. Thank you. 😀
Very much enjoyed another look into Loon life. Love seeing the canal water ways and storage solution’s needed for the tender. Cheers 👏🐨🍍
Great video well done Loon team, love the river journey.
Just realised how big she is it was the aerial shots. Which where great thanks boys Chris and Tim????. Doing good with shots of the river, showing off F.L.
Great informative video. Still loving the new editing style. Calm and pleasant to watch. Thanks guys!
I grew up in Florida and around the intercoastal waterway. I've been from St Augustine to the end of the waterway on a 44ft sail boat and never knew the history of it. We spent our summers in and around the river. Great memories.
I watched a video of superyacht captain Tristan mortlick bringing a pretty big superyacht ( I’m sure not in loons league) along that river where the left then the right were etc - was crazy. A few of the bridges and those two turns were a bit squeaky bum - I bet you’re glad you didn’t have to bring something anywhere near the size of loon up!
So, whilst you were doing this, crew had already completed their Atlantic crossing? Is it my mind playing tricks, or is everything really out of sequence?
Saw you guys in the background in one of emery wallerich’s videos when they were docked like 2 yachts behind you. The yacht was called M/y Temptation
Nice one Capt. Paul and you BOYS did a great job with the drone footage. I did not realize the extent of the water ways in and around Fort Lauderdale. I know you made it to Monaco as I've seen the video's however I hope your flight there was a good one. And it had better have been business or first class you flew. Looking forward to next video.
Thanks, Johnathan; here is a little more of the BTS of what goes into running the program. The flight was great, thank you.

Very interesting! I have a question for you. How many of those four engines do you keep running while moving through these inland canals?
Just simply love these loon videos. You guys are amazing
Love ur vids hopefully can see you guys in croatia during the summer, would be a dream
Cool video Capt. Paul, neat to see all the work behind the scenes
Brilliant! a shoe rack for huge boats!
Haha I've never thought of it like that
Paul is a cool man!
Why don't you bring the "big-tender" across the Atlantic ?
Definitely could have a beer with capt Paul!!
🍻
Love this , so interesting to see the twists and turns of this river , beautiful x
The Fort Lauderdale New River is a beautiful piece of waterway in Sth Florida.
I assume that vessel has more fuel filtration than just the engine filters? I hate having plugged filters on a diesel engine! No fun.
Editing is also great feels more like a production and no just some random snippets
Captain Paul - The Content Creator 👌
Why didnt they know when you made the arrangements what the issues were going to be and get ready for that tender.
Incorporating current date at the start of the video is great keep it up
Ascoltatemi bene! Listen to me carefully Australians and Americans, 😂since you don't have any resonant names 😂 to use, don't offend the beauties and history of a Venice you've never seen. 😂It really means that not You know nothing!
All the snappy and frequent transitions to B roll and short B roll clips are still a bit much for me. Pauls got a lot of great things to say. Im happy to watch just him for good chunks of time with some judicious use of b roll. Cutting to the fuel tanker for example was a timely and nice use of B roll. I like this channel for learning about how the industry works and the story telling.
Have you heard of any enemy being close to the US borders and attacking the US ships there during the WW2?? 😮 🤔
This is embarrassing to admit-I grew up in Georgia, live on the SC coast and have spent loads of time in FL and boating on the the ICW-but I didn’t know it’s WW2 history. You can tell parts of it are man made, but I always assumed it was just done for commercial purposes. Always learn something new on your videos 😊
Check into FAA Part 107; It covers commercial drone use, a 107 pilot maybe able to request a waiver to fly under a certain altitude close to airport in the USA.
Great video w diff content,, enjoyed
Man I really miss home. Born at Broward General, grew up in Ft. Lauderdale.
Just down the road from where we dock. We love calling FLL our home port.
Did he just causally say it’s getting all new lower units? u would think they could have someone run river charters or a partner yacht to offset costs. Prob could order a new one each year and sell the old lol. Never liked this tender seams like it does everything but nothing well.
Wondering why have 2 boats like this? Since they can be stored in Loon's garage why not keep it to 1?
The chase boats can't come on board as they're too big and heavy. In the tender garage, we have our rescue tender, our beach lander, and our wake boat.
There are a few reasons to have 2:
- We can't tow the boats across the Atlantic due to insurance, wear and tear, and excess fuel burn. So then we have to ship them. In the past, we have found shipping the tenders to be very hard on the boats, and shipping companies are often delayed, affecting Loon's schedule
- both the chase boats serve different purposes.
The HCB in the Caribbean is the more sports tender we use to fish and dive. It also has outboard engines, which we can trim up to allow us to go into the shallow waters of the Caribbean islands we visit.
The Anvera in the Mediterranean is the more limousine tender. It's stylish and fast, powered by Yanmar 370hp inboards, giving the guests a great ride. Also, not having outboards across the transom allows us to dock stern in small Mediterranean fishing ports, allowing our guests to embark and disembark more easily.
I have to say, Captain Paul, I didn't realize you were so great at vlogging. Excellent job.
So, who took Look motor yacht loon to the Mediterranean? Only because you said you were flying out. Also, I am liking the longer videos. 🩷🩷
Very impressed with your production values. Seamless editing that we barely notice. Excellent audio, and lots of background information about the journey.
Your reference to WW11 is very reverent today, 6 June. It's the 30 year anniversary of the Allied Troops landings on the beaches of France.
Is the HCB covered during dry dock? That would be a good thing, I am sure. 🤗
Yes, it has a full boat cover. We just hadn't put it on yet at the time of filming, as there was still work being done on the boat 😎
@@motoryachtloon That is good to know! Many thanks. 🤗
Well, I was worried about Captain Paul's navigation skills after he described the bay with 365 degrees of protection, but now I know I'll never let him walk my dogs if he's just gonna drag them around! ;)
Loved the video! The ride up the river was great!
Very interesting video. I grew up in Miami so I know these areas well. I pass that boat yard every time I travel back to Miami. Great video.
Love love love this channel. Paul please check out the lump on your right bicep. It's probably nothing... But just do it. Peace and love.
had a tiny 50 ton ticket on the west coast, newport harbor in socal. I used to point out to passengers that it's amazing what 2.5 million won't buy you. Florida there, it's the same. I was running boats back in the 90's tho...
Like cooking shows about restaurants when the owner does the entire video. It's the soldiers. So many details skipped. But in the end the tender is put to rest. Money. Money. Money.
Cool vid, Cap, nice presentation. It's really good to see the behind the scenes stuff, as it were. I realize ya'll are looking for charters, but I think your videos are great recruiting videos for future yachties :).
you should've put a camera on the forklift a drive around with a forks fully extended so it is like a drone
Ahhh great idea next time!
Why don’t you use the HCB in the med?
So nice watching you guys sail past all the sites i was looking at this xmas with my family. Sadly i was on the water taxi not in the spectacular HCB but i'll take any chance to be on the water over on florida. Great video as usual.
I used to live around Las Olas and worked at the BMW next to West Marine. It’s nice to see what it’s like going through all of these bridges and making cars wait for you 😂😂
Absolutely awesome video… great information.. looks an awesome base for ur tender. Great information. Amazing as always x
Covered in the racks, or open?
Was just wondering, not knowing anything more about yachting then the common person, if it would make any sense of chartering the chase boat instead of docking it during the offseason.
For vessels like this that have multiple outboards, can you / do you ever run fewer of them to save fuel, or is the general performance compromised?
Just getting into these videos. Giving me the boating bug again lol, but I don't misss the cost of owning one 😂
Great vid and like the background of the building of the Canal and the various properties.
are those eTecs on it? what size?
Flying a drone over power lines over fuel trucks is crazy, no?
It should've put a camera on the forklift a drive around with a forks fully extended so it is like a dron
Does anyone ever fish from the deck of LOON? I've never seen that!! ❤❤
That motorized gazebo at 4:00
interesting video, any idea what the black yacht at 9:44 is? looks different
My pal is super yacht captain on a 200ft yacht. Says paul is top guy.
So much work involved with the floating hotel.
《《 QUESTION》》
Is it scary to make a passage with no chase boat in case something happens to Loon, or do you have a life boat with food / radio on it?
Loon has 3 other tenders onboard, including the 15' rescue tender, with supplies and emergency equipment onboard. 😎
The bridge you identified as State Road 84 is actually Davie Blvd. You never went as far as State Road 84. Also you should have pointed out the Greybar Hilton (Jail) next to the Andrews Ave bridge.
Correct whoops. Been a few years since I've been that far up the river. Ahh yeah, of course the jail would have been cool. Next time. 😎
That water looks pretty fresh so it would be fair to say that the motors got a good flush to get a lot of the salt out them?👍
Can't afford any of this yet. I WILL WORK HARDER!. Thanks for the great video - keeps me motivated 😀
Good luck 🍀
Is 30.000 the weight in LBS ?
yes, this is also confirmed at 15:40
you knew every inch of the way there but didn't know an airport was beside the marina......lol great video mate
LOL Didn’t have to know until he became a drone pilot. 😂
Port 32
Paul, two questions: Why do you leave that tender in FLL and not drag it across to the Med? When you're moving the HCB a short distance and low speed, do you still run all four engines?
Hey Tony, We have two chase boats: the HCB in the Caribbean and the Anvera in the Mediterranean. If you haven't already seen the Anvera video we did last year, go check it out. Both boats have different purposes and uses. Also, insurance wouldn't let us tow the HCB across the Atlantic due to the risk of losing it. Also, the extra fuel burn caused by the drag of the tender doesn't justify it on long trans-ocean passages. If we were to bring the HCB to Europe, we would ship it and pick it up this side.
2nd question: Yes, we often drop down engines if we are just putting them along. 🛥🥂
You guys make great content, very interesting…you should check out the Viggo C10 as a superyacht tender.
thanks for watching the V10 looks awesome. Not quite what we need, but it still looks like a fun, fast boat. 😎
Racking up a boat. I learnt something new
This may be a dumb question but, when you're running at low speeds up the channels, do you still run all four motors, or do you have the ability to shut down two & conserve fuel?
Hey Gary, that's a great question. Yes, we do. For most of this video, we were just on the 2 outboard engines. Reducing the hours on the motors can save considerably on fuel and operational costs, extending the time between services. A full service on quad 450hp engines can cost up to $20k, so reducing the hours on the motors can save considerably. 😎
For a #4 or #5 'cane skip the hard and just fuel it up, put it back in the water and head in whatever direction takes you where the 'cane won't be. Anything else is a likely writeoff.
Thats the Hurricane plan with Loon. Just get out of the way. With the smaller boats, we'll do what we can without putting crew in danger. 😎
Just curious but why do you need so many engines on that tender? Do you ever need to really open it up and drive really fast if it's just a tender?
In an emergency having the extra HP could mean life or death. + we like to go fast 💨
You didn’t show us your mansion on the waterfront Captain 😎😳👍enjoyed that video 👍👍👍
Hahaha, I have a little condo that I'm lucky if I spend 30 days a year in. Maybe one day I'll have one of these beautiful houses on the ICW 😎
Paul I watch the weather for a living and I'm sorry to inform you this hurricane season is more likely than not to be anything like last year 😢
Yep, we're watching it, too, and making sure our insurance is fully covered. Hopefully, we get lucky for another year. 🤞
Great video, Capt Paul, did I hear you say the Yamaha's are getting new lower units?
Yes, and theyre getting paint matched white to the engines.
Wonderful drone shots on the way up to the yard.
Do you do anything to keep the fuel stabilized and flush the engines and stuff?
The engines got a good flush prior to going up in the rack. As we use Rec90 fuel, we don't put in any additives, but we do fill the tank up 100% to stop condensation from forming in the fuel tank. 🤙
Wait, what was that, looked like a motoring gazebo on the waters?! 😳🤣
It's the Cruising Tikis there everywhere on the inland waterways in Florida. They're great fun for a couple of friends to take out for a booze cruise.
Do you ever have pax on crossings, or is it just crew?
Just the crew. 17 days at sea with guests is a long time.
@@motoryachtloon I’d love it, but I know my wife would hate it… she thinks NYC to Bermuda on a cruise ship has too many sea days 🤦♂️
What the cost per foot to pull / put in & out of water
What's the damage on portside at waterline just in front of the forklift tines?
Hey Peter, nice spotting. The boat has a wrap to match the color of Loons' hull. On the trip up from the Caribbean, some of it peeled off. It's already been repaired for next season.
