When the train was gone, so were all his young friends from days long gone. We can't go back. ALL the music from Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band tells us stories that we all can relate to.

The train is the passing of time. Old friends appear across the tracks. You can see them but they're not there any longer.
I'm 78 and think back over the many friends gone now. My time is coming too but I still feel "like a rock".
    Great review. Thank you.
    Next......Night Moves. ❤️

Well said. At 68 i feel it too. Time waits for no man. . And we can never go back.. except for in our hearts and minds. Memories of younger days. When you felt like a rock. We get just a glimpse into our past. Great song. Hits me every time . Im the only one left now all family and friends gone long ago

I'm 62yrs old and with every year that passes, this song digs deeper into my soul. My favorite scene in this video is when the young lady climbs up onto the back of the seat with the wind blowing through her hair. A time of carefree. Then both guitar solos........ Thank you for your reaction.

Uncle Bob is what we call him here in Michigan where he resides. Ive seen him and the Silver Bullet Band numerous times. My daughter now lives in CA and got us tickets to see him out in L.A.
It was a joy to see how they love him out there - when he did "Hollywood Nights", they brought the house down.
Sadly Alto Reed the sax player passed on.
I doubt Bob will tour again.

So many years. The first time i said"20 years ago" it scared the hell out of me. The imagery of the train takes me back to being a young one, waiting at the tracks, and sitting on the hood of the car. All the tough things I had to endure. I have a happy life, but there was much loss. Mr. Seger and I met several times. He would not remember. I want it said, he was kind, generous, soft spoken, and looked out for his people.

I was like a rock when this came out I was 19 in 86, Now 39 years later pushing 60 this hits harder then ever. I look back over the last 40 years when I sit out on the deck with my pup and sucking down a few wobbly pops my memories play like movie of my life, Getting married ( still married to the same woman 36 years ) career then the house the kids and then finally now the Grandkids. The good times and the not so good times mistakes, right choices the tears and the joy. I think to myself hell yeah. Yeah I have had good life not that I am ready to checkout yet but it makes me realize I more years behind me then in front of me now.

The first time I saw Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band was when they opened for KISS on their Destroyer tour ...and he blew them off the stage ! I saw them 3 more times in what was called the Derby Eve Jam in Louisville Kentucky . The then Famous DJ Wolfman Jack hosted the show for two of the shows The Atlanta Rythm Section opened for him . Lucky me I saw one ot the best bass players in the world Paul Goddard play his Bass solo ! He was a small chubby guy with big thick glasses but he could play the hell out of a BASS ! That was a TALENT LACED CONCERT from beginning to end . Rest in Peace Paul . PK PS - to get the best feeling for Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet band start with album Beautiful Loser ...
