Wait till you’re 76. You reflect on even people not things. Music pulls me back to the era it was made. The fifties and early 60s family, Vietnam my Marine buddies, 70s the start of my marriage, 80/90s my kids music, and now after 50 years of marriage I can relive the people I love in each time period. Thank you for taking me back with your reflections.
Seger was equally perfect in concert--sounded every bit as great as his recordings, all without autotune and no lip synching. At 61 he was still running up and down the stage during his performances....absolutely two of the best concerts I ever got to see.
I was able to see 5 concerts. My Sister and Father saw 6 concerts. All over a 30 year span. Bob Seger is part of my life. Always has been and always will be. It is a family affair with me. I am blessed.
100, Having an eidetic memory; I hate covers and live performances because it doesn't match the time signature, Bob Seager almost never had that problem, very few artists can keep Rythm with No metronome. lol
I was fortunate enough to have seen him live twice, the first time was front row tickets I won on a radio contest. It was amazing! I was so close I could see the red Levi’s tag on his jeans! 😂
I only heard both of those about a million times 'cause in the mid '80s they were played over and over every night in every topless bar from coast to coast!💯🤣❤️✌️
Not Bob Seger, but I gotta add one more song to the nostalgia list. Don Henley - The Boys of Summer. As a kid, it wasn't bad. As an adult, it grabs me, every time.
My favorite Bob Seger song is Against the Wind. Beautiful song with the best line ever "wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." How true in life. 😢
It's funny you say how you're beginning to notice music everywhere. I honestly, in my heart believe that music can unite people. We can all find common ground and a shared history.
You are correct Chevy trucks used the Like a Rock in their commericals for many years. When Chevy first approached Bob about using his song in their ads he said no. However After speaking to a plant worker for GM, Seger had a change of heart as he was reminded of his own time working for the car company. He relented and "Like a Rock" became the official anthem of Chevy trucks from 1991 to 2014. Bob was from the Detroit area, and always wanted to do what he could to suport the local workers. Bob has a very deep and full catalouge of songs to explore. One of the best singer songwriters of his or any other generation. THe best thing you can say about any singer/songwriter. There is not such thing as a bad Bob Seger Song. Hollywood Nights, Her Strut, The Famous Final Scene, Feel like a Number, and Beautiful Loser are some that I think you might connect with.
Im 56. I grew up in MI. I still have a cabin in Northern MI. When Uncle Bob comes on, you turn it up, and recall. Go to the woods, the lake, the river, the fishin hole, the cornfield, the bondfire, and chill with Bob.
Bob's voice and lyrics can paint a picture in your mind like no other. Put all of his songs on little pieces of paper, put them in a hat, pull one out, it's a hit. "Where did the time go?" Brother, with your b-day coming up, you are a week younger than my youngest. I can't tell you where the time went.
When I heard the truck commercial I thought "Oh my God! No No! Do not cheapen and abuse this amazing song!!!" as I get older I change the words " 20 years, where;d they go? " to 30 years now 40 years
We played this at my dad’s funeral. He worked for Ford for 39 years and he was my families rock for sure. Bob Seger doesn’t live that far from me, in Michigan.
I just turned 75 a couple of days ago. I, a US Army Paratrooper and wore the coveted Green Beret. Now, I have problems getting into my truck... where has time gone? That is why this song is so loved by me and I play it a lot... to remember...
This song was 💯 in a Chevrolet commercial! It's all I can picture when I hear this song! Kinda like The Allman Brothers song Midnight Rider in the Geico commercial! 😆 U should definitely check out more Bob! Old Time Rock and Roll is a whole different vibe than what u have heard so far!
Bob Seger. My all time favorite performer. Times of reflection, times of romance, times of road trips... all accompanied by Bob Seger and his Silver Bullet Band.
He actually worked in a GM plant before he, "made it". Certainly one of my all time favorite songs. The older you get the more it means to you. I'm a 75yo container with a 39yo inside. Well... occasionally a 12yo is inside it. As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
Quite possibly the greatest storyteller in rock history. If you want to react to more of Bob (and I know you do), write his extensive catalog of hits on a board, close your eyes & throw a dart--you can't go wrong with any of 'em!
If you want to think about the people and places that formed you, grab some beers, sit back on the porch, and put on Bob Seger. All the people and all the places will come back. Raise a toast to their memory and be thankful they were there for you.
Seger is one of what some critics call the "Heartland Rockers," guys with a working class attitude, sometimes but not always from the Midwest. Seger and Springsteen are perfect examples, along with John Mellencamp and Michael Stanley.
Bro! You brought tears to my eyes on your reaction! Bo’s Seger is a national treasure. You may be late to the game because this is before your time. Welcome to the club young man! WELCOME TO THE CLUB!!!
Yeah, Bob is my favorite artist of all time. I grew up with Bob and all the other great artists of the 60’s and 70’s. Bob touches your soul, you FEEL his music and the older you get, the more you enjoy and relate to his lyrics. He’s the best
Bob Seger transcends age groups. Something in all of his songs hits home. But this one....wow. There was a time I was like a rock. We can all remember those days. I took my inlaws to a concert of his a few years ago. Watching them sing and dance along was amazing.
Seger is what you call real life music. Especially for men. He wrote down and remembered all the things us young men went through in our years of growing older.
I cannot hear this song without tearing up. This was my dad's song - it was his anthem that we all knew was about him. Old school tough mechanic military vet that just oozed confidence and being a rock solidarity. We played this song at his funeral 11 years ago with the screen showing pictures of his life through all the cars he built and the family he made. Now this song means something more to me than ever. Miss ya dad. Every day.
Time moves on. Its one of the few things we cant control or manipulate. Memories come back as we grow and we see where we were or how we have changed. This song is really deep and Bob tells this story so well. I am 58 and I remember those days as a 18 yo .I still stand for my beliefs, i just stand slower and take pain meds to do it lol. Bob Seger makes you think and i love his music. Great reaction, keep em coming and happy Birthday :)
This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it because I had a stroke at 40 and diagnosed with Parkinson’s at 45 , but I have 5 sons and they always asked me why did I always tell them to walk and stand straight now they are grown men and well respected… thank you for this reaction
He was selling out stadiums but stopped touring to help raise his son & daughter who are now a DC doctor & lawyer, and he went back on tour in his seventies, his songs are like poems. Hes definitely one of the greatest of our generation. Next you should review " Roll me away" especially if you like motorcycles!
I think a lot of rap/hip hop fans are not aware of how deep many of the classic rock lyrics are. Yeah, it wasn't just screaming guitars; they had stories to tell back in the day too. Many of the reactors are too young to really feel this song. Glad you felt this one.
Bob Seger represents the heart and soul of Detroit, that's why this song was chosen for a Chevy truck commercial. Just like Chrysler used Eminem's Lose Yourself. Turn The Page, Shakedown, Come To Poppa, Her Strut, Old Time Rock And Roll, Ramblin' Gamblin' Man, the list of Seger classics goes on...
40’s and 50’s are special too! Enjoy raising your family. Those years go by even faster. There is a saying that goes. “The days are long but the years are short”. That holds true when you’re raising kids. Absorb all those special moments ❤️
Seger didn't get paid much for the commercial. He did it because he was from Detroit and the American car industry, mostly from Motor City, was hurting. His backup band is called the Silver Bullet Band, and he turned down a lotmore money from Coor's Light (the "Silver Bullet") because he didn't want to "sell out..."
Bob Seger :Feel like A Number". That's how I felt when I first went over seas after joining the Marine Corps. Played it over and over on the juke box.....
When you ask "where did the time go", hopefully you were living life like Bob describes in the song "unencumbered by the weight of all those hustlers and their schemes". That's what makes time go by quickly. Welcome to middle age! It's a great time to be alive.
Chevrolet ran that commercial for Chevy trucks using Bob Seger’s song for 13 years and sold hundreds of thousands of trucks. The story is that when he was first approached by Chevrolet about using his song, he declined. Some time later, he was in a restaurant in a Detroit suburb and was approached by an autoworker. The industry was going through a rough time and the autoworker asked Bob why he didn’t help the industry by making a commercial for them, since Bob’s father had been an autoworker and so had Bob before he made it as a musician. Bob re-thought his decision and gave the ok to Chevrolet and the rest is history. It was one of the most successful ad campaigns for any vehicles ever. Thanks for the great reaction to Bob Seger, the GOAT. 👏👏👏🥰
I wore out my Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet' Greatest Live CD. EVERY song was on target with music, lyrics, and emotion. Each one seems to be "strumming my life" or breaking my heart or stirring the soul of me.
This song is one of my favorite songs ever, and it has been since I was a preteen. Having more comprehension of the lyrics as a middle-aged person now, I just love it more. This song reminds me so much of my late husband, who passed away at just 45 yrs old.
The girls in the background was Martha Wash and the absolutely beautiful and incomparable alto singer; the late great Izora Armstead. She had an Angel voice that could move a real man to tears.
Chevy simply used it because they're trucks were built "Like A Rock"! 💪 Song means so much more. Fun fact, there's a band here in Sacramento called CC Seger. They only sing CCR and Bob Seger jams! Fun fact #2. Bob is a 3rd cousin of mine! 😁
I'm 60 now. This is the music I grew up with. Our generation's music had SO MUCH MEANING AND SUBSTANCE compared to most of the drivel being put out today with very few exceptions.
The story has been told that Chevrolet wanted this song for their ad campaign. Seger initially resisted using his song, one of his favorite compositions, as a commercial. But the auto industry and the country was in a recession and he finally agreed and was glad that his contribution sold a lot of trucks, saving jobs and business in his home state.
OLD TIME ROCK N ROLL...HER STRUT...AGAINST THE WIND....FIRE LAKE....WE'VE GOT TONIGHT...Just a few of the songs you should check out. But. Really. any song you pick is a gem!!! Bob Seger has always been my favorite of all time.
Bob was a cross-country runner. When he says like a rock he isn't kidding. Saw him live on his last tour. Top of my bucket list and he didn't disappoint
It’s amazing how these icons like Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, Billy Joel, Jon BonJovi, and others I’m not immediately recalling, all have vast musical catalogues from hit songs they wrote from their own imagination or their own experience. True artists and poets.
If I remember correctly, Bob took minimum for the truck commercial. He doesn't commercialize his music. He basically gave them the song to help the auto industry, and in turn the city of Detroit.
"Roll me Away" should be your next reaction. The line, "Just then I saw a young hawk flyin' and my soul began to rise" moves me as much today as it did back in the day.
Seger makes you THINK! His songs speak of everyman. You can’t listen to his songs and not remember things that are personal to you and your own life. The years of 17-21 are a magical time in the lives of most Americans. These are the years of our rebirth, a time where we debut as adults. We always remember those days when we grew from school kids living the curriculum of parents and teachers, and spread our wings into what we hoped for of our own lives. These times were made of autonomy, decisions made, failures and successes, plans and spontaneity living side by side, but everything lived in a time when our lives were still FUN! We weren't tired. We weren't burnt out. We were too young to feel like failures. The world was ours to conquer. Seger's songs harness the emotion of those times and carry us back to those magical moments and poignant memories like few artists can. The qualities this song hails in a man are PERFECT to attach to a product you want people to feel will be an extension of themselves and will last for decades. It was a "solid" advertising investment for a company whose product they want people to equate to the strengths of a young man in his prime. Seger may not have written this song about a material object, but he likely wouldn't have licensed it out without being comfortable with the parallels between its original intent and its product-based rebirth. Seger's lyrics don't impress me as words written by someone who would turn into a sellout. Seger can akways make us feel special by taking us back to a time when we KNEW the world lay at our feet. Now that the long walk of life has our feet aching a little, it's important to remember artists like Seger who can transport us back to those easier times just by listening to a song.
I listened to Seger all through high school and have never stopped. Sometimes, nothing moves me like some of his songs. Against The Wind is one of greatest!
Bob seger is an absolute legend and American treasure. He has somebody great songs that are simply perfectly written, composed, and performed. Like a rock, Hollywood nights, main Street, night moves, against the wind, roll me away.... And trust me, as you move beyond the age of 40 and into your early / mid-50s ... Like I'm doing now ... Especially if you have children... Bob's songs will hit differently and even harder
Bob Seger, another Detroit and Michigan boy who does home very proud. I left decades ago but there is this feeling of being "back home" when I listen to him. Recalling days in San Francisco with friends who just didn't seem to get his music. I recall telling them 'it's OK Bob Seger is a midwest thang and we really don't expect you to get him.' For the longest time he really seemed to be under appreciated, happily that changed.
Every time I hear Bob Seger, I think he's so damn great. I know he is, but that's the reaction I get no matter what song of his I hear. Legend is too simple for him. He's above that.
Wait till you’re 76. You reflect on even people not things. Music pulls me back to the era it was made. Thank you for your service and sharing your experience.
Well said, Steve!! I TOTALLY AGREE!!! Thank You for Your Service, Sir! :) ENJOY THE JAMS!!
@@holliday0191 RIP Memory Eternal. Thanks to your family for your sacrifice. God bless.
Bob Seger doesn't have a bad song . His catalog of bangers is epic.He feels every word he sings and you will too.
Seger was equally perfect in concert--sounded every bit as great as his recordings, all without autotune and no lip synching. At 61 he was still running up and down the stage during his performances....absolutely two of the best concerts I ever got to see.
Yes sir, and as you probably know, many of those live performances ended up on the albums.
I was able to see 5 concerts. My Sister and Father saw 6 concerts. All over a 30 year span. Bob Seger is part of my life. Always has been and always will be. It is a family affair with me. I am blessed.

I'm 65 and still remember telling my brother when we were in our 20's that Bob Seger was the best story teller ever. I still feel that way.
Bob is a great storyteller, but don't forget to include Billy Joel in that list!🎹🎙🎶
Great American singer songwriter.
All you need is LIVE BULLET ALBUM Bob Seger must be enjoyed live
Nine tonight is the best live album I have ever heard. I hope you have heard it.
Live Bullet and Nine Tonight are the 2 best albums ever recorded, IMO.
"shit, i've known that for ten years!"
@@zzz7zzz9 shit I've known that for 10 years!!! 😂 the most classic line EVER 😂
Bob Seger never disappoints. One of the best, most consistent singer/songwriters ever.
Bob Seger is the G.O.A.T. of nostalgia songs that make you think of your past. Just for fun try Come To Papa or Her Strut.

It's funny you say how you're beginning to notice music everywhere. I honestly, in my heart believe that music can unite people. We can all find common ground and a shared history.
Absolutely it’s the universal language. Every human no matter race country whatever can enjoy. It’s definitely a way of communication and love.
That's what MJ said and believed. And we had the music to unite around.
Yeah, wishing. ALOT of young people are too dumb and don't have the drive or only choice to actually have to live
Amen
Absolutely 💯

Bob Seger is 79 years old today. Happy Birthday Bob
My favorite by Bob Seger is Night moves, it's a must hear❤❤
Absolutely!! 🔥
Bob's voice and lyrics can paint a picture in your mind like no other. Put all of his songs on little pieces of paper, put them in a hat, pull one out, it's a hit.

I would too! ❤
And the eagles for group!
He just rocks.

Love Bob Seger, Old Time Rock and Roll is another great song to check out
One of the best story tellers of our time!
I'm 70 now but I remember when I was like a piece of that same rock. This song brought back all of those times and emotions.
This song hits hard when your best years feel 20+ years behind you.
Bob stated he made a mint from the Chevrolet commercial. Way more than the airplay and publishing it rights.
Every man should play this song every now and then throughout his life!
Old Time Rock and Roll was the only "rock" song my dad would dance to in the 70s. He would have been 93 this year.
40’s and 50’s are special too! Enjoy raising your family. Those years go by even faster. There is a saying that goes. “The days are long but the years are short”. That holds true when you’re raising kids. Absorb all those special moments ❤️

Late 70’s we’re a special time. My boyfriend at the time had a sister who worked at the Drive In, those were the best days of my life
Old time rock and roll....watch all the geezers run to the dance floor...best song ever!!!

His song "Roll me away" is another great hit you need to hear. His voice gets me every time. His story telling lyrics are some of the best .
He basically gave them the song to help the auto industry, and in turn the city of Detroit.
you are absolutely correct, Bob Seger is the GOAT, he has been for me since i was 15. i'm 57 now.
Seger’s voice is iconic
I recall telling them 'it's OK Bob Seger is a midwest thang and we really don't expect you to get him.' For the longest time he really seemed to be under appreciated, happily that changed.
.."Mainstreet " , an absolute must !!!!!!
I saw his very final concert in Philadelphia after 50 years of wanting to see him and he was so good. He has so much fun on stage. A REAL icon.
If you ever get the opportunity to see him live. GO!!!!! I've been to quite a numbers of concerts in my day, his show ranks in my top 5.
❤At 78 this year will be hi last tour 2024.
He deserves to retire.
Every time I hear Bob Seger, I think he's so damn great. I know he is, but that's the reaction I get no matter what song of his I hear. Legend is too simple for him. He's above that.
