It is impossible for Bob Seger to do a bad song. His voice is so distinctive , and he has such a gift in song writing. Not many artists are the complete package, and Bob Seger leads the pack. He is the music of my generation, and I am lucky.

The reason you don't know Bob Seger is because at the height of his career, he took 20 years off from music to *Be a Dad*... I have to respect that so much. He didn't want to hear about the milestones of his kid over the phone or something while he was on tour.

Metallica covered this -- Seger's been a star since the 60's -- HUGE catalogue. Old Time Rock and Roll, Main Street, Night Moves, Feel Like a Number, Her Strut... and the woman or man comment was because for nearly all of his early career, Seger wore his hair long and much of conservative America at that time still held the opinion "no son of mine's gonna have long hair"

I grew up listening to Bob Seger, even before he was a super star. I’m from the Detroit area and Seger was a hometown star. Way back then, FM radio was considered “underground radio”. That’s where you’d hear Bob Seger. His first hit song in Detroit, which so many people haven’t even heard of, was called Heavy Music. It was 1967 and I was just 10 years old when I heard it on an older cousin’s radio. I’ll never forget it!!! At 10 years old, I became a hard rock fan!!! It was in 1968 when Seger became more well know with his song Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man. He had some great songs, and one of my favorites in 1979 was called We’ve Got Tonight. Omg, that song makes me cry!!! It’s so good. Check out his catalog. I believe he even wrote for the Eagles.

Bob Seger found out he had throat cancer not long after he put out his song against the wind. He was told he’d never sing again. 20+ years later I got to see him in concert on his return tour. It was an amazing concert. At one point he forgot part of one of his songs while playing the piano (solo) and the fans were singing with him. They (we) sang so loud that he just kept playing and let the fans sing his song for him. The crowd never missed a beat or word! It was amazing and he was so overwhelmed by what happened after all those years away that he could hardly speak at the end of the song. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been too. The crowd sang every song with him after that.

Many thanks to you, BP, for keeping it real and not monetizing requests/reactions. The number of reactors that I follow has been declining as I watch the same people with limited preferences paying for reactions - noticing the not-so-authentic where money buys reactions that reactors think the people that pay them want. I would much prefer to see a genuine reaction to something regardless of whether I prefer the something being reacted to.

Bob Seger wrote Turn the Page & Like a Rock. Like a Rock was in his 1986 album. 5 yrs later Chevrolet used it in their advertising campaign. You probably heard the music & lyrics on their tv & radio commercials. I just found your channel a few days ago. I just love your interpretations. I always learn something new. Thanks for sharing these songs.

Bob Seger was born in Detroit and grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. When my dad was a member of a motorcycle club, he hung around with Bob Seger, Alice Cooper, Mitch Miller,Ted Nugent and all the Detroit Rockers. He would get tickets for their shows when they were in town. My sister and I went to see Bob Seger in concert. ❤

Anyone who spent much time working on the road can relate with this song. Another song anyone in their 40s would recognize from old chevy commercials "like a rock"

I was blessed enough to see Bob in concert back in his prime. After all these years, this song still gives me chills.
The band Journey when Steve Perry was still with Journey, they toured 11 months SOLID every year plus also being in the studio creating albums. All of which lead to Steve Perry, the voice, to leave the band. There were other events too like his mom passing away and a hip injury that Steve experienced while hiking in Hawaii. He would hike to keep his lungs and the rest of his body in shape to tour.

It's interesting the lyrics speak of hearing the whispers in cafes, over how he looked. He had long hair, "is that a woman or a man...", and the hostility he could feel from the eyes looking at him. I'm not a black man, but I imagine they would have got the same thing walking into an all white cafe in the south, in the late 60's early 70's?

The "woman or a man" line was common when long hair became popular in the 60s-70s.

Bob Seger was my first concert ever. Back when tickets were $7.50 LOL! That was 1975-ish and I have never forgotten that show.

    Bro, Bob Seger was HUUUUGE!!
All through the 70's and 80's Bob was topping the charts.
His 1975 "Live Bullet" album is off the chain! Try "Get Out of Denver" from that album. It's a fast-paced Chuck Berry-style banger, and you've never heard anyone spit some bars like this!
It got overshadowed by his many big ballads and other hits over the next decade, but it's amazing! 🤙🤘😎
