  • Disney is not done trying to turn mens entertainment into girl franchises. Marvel Studios are reportedly still pushing the X-Men as their premiere girl team in the MCU. This comes after a string of MCU failures featuring female superheroes. And goes against the X-Men since the day they were created. The X-Men have always featured a diverse array of male and female characters. More rumors suggest Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are planning to do Avengers Vs X-Men before Avengers Secret Wars. Wes breaks down the latest rumors that X-Men is becoming a girl franchise in the MCU and AVX is coming. Marvel pushing X-men as girl team, setting up Avengers Vs X-Men.

I wish Disney would sell Star Wars and Marvel too. Just like I wish WB would sell the Dc brand. Here’s two things we have to ask tho. Maybe three.
      1. Who would be willing to buy these franchises?
      2. Are the current parent companies who own these brands willing to give up huge money makers like these?(Answer to that is probably no)
      3. If they do get sold to somebody else, how do we know they can be trusted to make good stuff with them?
I don’t think Disney or WB will ever give up their most iconic brands. And if they did, we would need to consider who would realistically own them and actually do right by them.

1st. So the box office bomb of the marvels the superhero freaky Friday box office bomb. they learn nothing from that and want to still do a comedy superhero genre.
2nd. feel like we have already seen all the female x-men members in live action even the underrated ones that existed in the early 2000: jubilee, Siryn, Psylocke, Angel Salvadore, Negasonic teenage warhead, and dazzler
3rd. If the MCU introduces Jubilee, they better do her right and give her justice. They did jubilee dirty in live action fox x-men film series. She’s a popular character and we only get to see her in deleted scenes.
4th. If counting the gifted 2017 series they gave Polaris, blink, Sage and many other underrated mutants in the show spotlight.

He writes DC characters like they are real people with real issues plus all the superhero nonsense we all love.

@OnionSavoya-jf5hz I can think of 2 characters that Tom King properly wrote well. The rest of his writing has been awful. I would never bring him on as part of the writing group, if I was making the cinematic universe. DC has been trying to push King as if he were an Alan Moore, but he is nowhere near that level. He's done so much harm to the brand of DC. A huge reason I stopped reading. Other writes continue to clean up his mess. "Real people with real issues", this just sounds like he's a wannabe Zack Snyder, not Alan Moore. Moore understood that these characters were larger than life and meant something more. King seems to have a very limited understanding of these characters.

I would love all X-Men female focused live action movie, but only on the condition its Marvel pre Disney era. Im just a few episodes into the X-Men 97 animation, but the thing feels so incredible off to me. It does hit some nostalgia snares, but I cant look passed the clear androgynous treatment the women received, and although discrete; the men still received a sissification treatment. The X-Men for me always gave me a certain "awe' feeling; these characters just dont have it. Kneon saying its ok cause its the closets what we've got in years I dont to find it to be enduring. Ive got the feeling these characters (I dont consider them to be authentic) are constantly biting their tongues, but there plenty of signs of nihilism and the typical Disney activist "self reflection thoughts" in there if that makes any sense. It just feels off to me, and if its a major success I dont think we will ever see authentic X-Men ever again. Than Im not even talking about certain colors and hair issues but; it feels like one big self enforced make believe show to me.

I'm morbidly certain the only way Marvel can SUCCESSFULLY turn the X-Men into a girl's team, is license it to Hustler or another "adult entertainment" company to make "adult entertainment" parodies of. The company burned all other bridges it could've used.
Children aren't interested in "current year" Marvel Comics- they're too young to see LGBT as anything but a bunch of letters, anyways. Parents- former Marvel Comics fans, who could've turned their children into fans- aren't interested. Teenagers- those buying manga and manhwa (Japanese and Korean comics) because "current year" American comics have NOTHING they want to read- are too angry to even give Marvel Comics a glance, after the company stupidly let its writers insult them on social media.
Meanwhile, Takeuchi Naoko- creator of 'Sailor Moon'- is still getting royalties from companies that licensed her manga and its merchandise for distribution in North America, because girls can actually relate to Sailor Moon, which is NOT the case with the Mary Sue self-inserts of the narcissistic writers that Marvel Comics keeps hiring.

@@kaczok1985 I'm a heterosexual man, but I frequently read shojo ai manga- NON-EXPLICIT Japanese comics about lesbian relationships- and occasionally read shonen ai manga- NON-EXPLICIT Japanese comics about gay men- because Japanese writers have enough self-restraint to refrain from making their characters Mary Sue self-inserts whom NO ONE can relate to, with the obvious exception of the writer.
It's especially heartbreaking when I remember this was not always the case with American comic book writers. 2003's 'Rawhide Kid: Slap Leather' had a gay male protagonist who was MORE THAN an insulting stereotype- having survived an abusive childhood, he CHOSE TO fight crimes, save lives, and prioritize his (heterosexual) love interest's happiness over his own.

Men like beautiful women just as much, hell I'd say more, then Women like beautiful women.🤷‍♀️ Forge, Stryfe, Longshot, Thunderbird/Warpath, Hope Summers, Karma, Armor, Dust, Feral, Layla Miller, Warlock, Rachel Summers, the real non cloned version of Rictor, the real non raceswaped Shatterstar etc. There are still really cool characters who have never been in Live Action.

XD XD XD Okay. NOW I can believe X-Men '97 is gonna be a possible swan song for Disney X-Men. X-Men a girl's brand? Making an Avengers vs. X-Men movie? AVX was the very event that started turning the X-Men into the Brotherhood by putting powers over basic human life and safety with their brains shut off treating something as dangerous and galaxy-destroying as the Phoenix Force as the answer to mutant progress like a bunch of cultists! Putting Magneto as the new leader of the X-Men was an insane idea, even for X-Men '97 to do but dragging the X-Men down with Magneto in a AVX movie is not gonna create any fans for the mutants, let alone the X-Men. If they thought the critics were bad with the 'Magneto is Right' garbage in X-Men '97 ep 8, it will be nothing when the critics make mincemeat out of the movie like a feeding frenzy and tank the rep of the X-Men even more. All that movie will do is make the Avengers look like the sane ones! And as far as the re-branding goes...it will put the final nail in the coffin for the X-Men brand.

You need both men and women for the X-Men as a team, and brand, to be successful. Yes female mutants have been very important to the X-Men lore. But so have the male mutants. X-Men work when it’s in unison. When the men and women of the team band together for whatever reason. They don’t want a majority female X-Men team because it’ll be good for story reasons. They want it because Hollywood can’t have male characters take up too much spotlight anymore, even though like I said in one of my videos, this is a MALE DOMINATED GENRE.

God I hope they go full woke and start pre attacking what few fans they have left. I'm cheering for em to royally fuck this up and lose hundreds of millions of dollars.
Fantastic Four is already shaping up to be a dumpster fire and months of re shoots haven't been able to put out the trash fire in progress that is the new FalconCap movie, theme park attendence is crashing.
It's going to be a great few years for those of us who hate Disney as a company.
May they utterly destroy these characters and properties to the point of the brand under Disney being irredeemable as quickly as possible. Then either hopefully Disney will go real bankrupt and cease to exist or at least be forced to sell the IP's for whatever small value they have left to people who actually care about and can write them.
That's the only way we get anything resembling the characters we loved back.
I look forward to the day when classic Marvel and DC heroes get a new publisher and a renaissance like GIJOE and Transformers seem to be experiencing right now.

We already had Polaris and Sage in a tv show as main/secondary characters on The Gifted. Marrow was in Deadpool 1 for a cameo. You're basically relegated to Armor, Revanche and Rachel Grey (retconned into lovers), Meggan, Feral, Magma, Moonstar, Karma, sunpyre, and Frenzy. Not much going for you there
Unless the pull a Taylor Swift as Dazzler, ticket sales for an All/Mostly female Xmen would kill the property entirely, with no chance of resurrection.

When they say focus on characters they haven't really done so far, they're likely including characters that have been seen, but haven't really been developed. I mean, sure, Blink, Jubilee, and Dazzler are characters that were shown, but were glorified cameos. Psylocke borders on that same area since the movie she was in, had almost nothing to do with the actual character. Oh, and Polaris was featured in "The Gifted" TV show.

Makes perfect sense in today's world. Why use 60 to 70 years of stories already written for you via amazing comics. Try to reinvent the wheel again and pander to anyone other than your core audience. If Disney got hold of Taylor Swift they would force her to abandon her pop music and make a classical album or rap album. ANYTHING to piss off your core audience. Thats their goal apparently. Sigh, Ill keep reading my old comics instead

Can someone explain why fans argue that their persona headcanon is the correct representation of a character?
Magneto has been a hero/anti-hero member of the X-Men in every single in-continuity appearance, by dozens of different writers for 15+ years, and Marvel has marketed and featured him in that role. The same applies to the movie version, as the last time he was an outright villain was 2006's The Last Stand.
It makes no sense why anyone would think the correct characterization of Magneto is their own, rather than the one by the people who actually own and create stories for the character
