When we were little I'd look forward to my aunty's roti coz she dips them in fresh coconut milk and serve them warm with green lemon leaf tea 😊 good childhood memories.
That sounds amazing! Thank you for sharing such a precious memory! ♥️
In 🇮🇳 we call it Maida.
The gentleness of your voice did it for me- roti is the byproduct. Thank you. I love roti- struggling to make one :)
Thank you so much for kindness. Keep practicing and I promise you’ll get better at it. ❤️
Jamaican Indian here, my mom used to make these when I was a child, I would bring them to school and sell them for pocket money. She thought I was eating 4 to 6 each day, it was after I graduated I told her what did with them
Wow! What did she say?
That’s some hustle 🤣 but such a great core memory. I’d love to know what her response was too.

Thank you for sharing and going the extra mile that others don't by sharing a very good detailed recipe. Can you tell me how to store these for later use and how long will they last please? Brilliant well done.
Thank you for your feedback. You can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for about 7-10 days.
@@SBLtasteoffiji Thank you for taking the time to reply. Can I reheat them in a pan again?
Yes, I recommend reheating in a pan with some ghee/oil.
Love the video, so easy to follow. Only question, how hot does the pan need to be? Thank you in advance!
I’d say around 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
I am making it now I like to do diff types so trying yours

Thank you for this. Mine were NOT round but were still delicious.
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback! The more you make them, the rounder they will get :) but honestly, shape does not matter! It’s the taste that does 🩷
Look so tasty and delicious
Thank you
I will try it now
Hello beautiful 🌷💕🌷💕... oh you are making me homesick 😅.. this looks so delicious! I will try n I know exactly what you are talking about!! Awesome! Hope all is well, dahling.. also could you please do a Fiji crab curry please if you haven’t already done it? Thank you n cheers, babe 🙏🌷🌷🌷💕💕💕💕🥰🥰🥰
All well love! I’ll do a crab curry recipe sometime in winter when they’re in season here. They’re so expensive right now 😂 even at Costco! They’re usually more affordable during winter season here.
@@SBLtasteoffiji ... sounds wonderful. Can’t wait n I totally agree with you regarding food prices!!! 😳 omg! I will wait patiently for your wonderful recipe. Take care 💕💕💕💕🌷🌷🌷🦋🦋🥰

Do you have any tips for layering the roti? Yours looked layered when you broke it open, but I didn't see you folding it over and re-rolling. Do I need to do that? Have an AWESOME day !! 🎥💥🔥👍☮
I think if you make sure your dough is done kneaded properly, the texture will be somewhat layered. But if you wanted to make more evident layers, you can spread a little oil or ghee after rolling it out to maybe 4 inches wide. Then sprinkle a little dry flour and fold over and roll again. I’ll try to make a video showing the technique one of these days. Hope the instructions are helpful.
@@SBLtasteoffiji Made them yesterday and way pretty pleased with the results. Will definitely be doing them again.
Totoka 👏

Hi, How much water? My first roti was from a Trinidadian friend love them.
About 1 cup, but you have to watch the dough. Depending on the flour you use, you may need more or less.
Thanku divine oil Rotie best oil rotie
So easy thanks
You’re welcome! ♥️
Bula can you show how to make puri, I only eat puri at weddings And that’s once in a while 😂
Thank you.
Bula Vinaka. I have a recipe for puri on the channel already :) let me know if you’d like a direct link.
Man thanks, great with just rewa butter and Tea
Yes! Best butter! Thank you for watching!
Please show how to make daal for roti
From start like do you soak it or not
I can do that! Will post it soon!
Hi, I thought when you use All purpose flour you had to used baking powder to get it to rise? whereas if we use Self rise flour no need for baking powder. How long do you bake the roti on the tawa?
Hi! Cook time can vary depending on thickness of tawa and flame etc. As for the flour, adding baking powder would just make the roti thicker and not necessarily make it puff up.
Can someone tell me what all purpose flour is ? I live in Australia, and we only have flour :/
It’s just plain white flour.
Plain flour
❤
💕
That's the way I make 😅
Mine come out harder than yours. Can you give any insight into this issue. I did use steaming hot water and ket it rest for 15 minutes
I’m not sure what could’ve gone wrong. This recipe always turns out right for me. Maybe you didn’t use enough water? Was your dough hard before you rolled into rotis? Or maybe it was cooked for too long on too low of a flame?
Can i make my roti in a non stick frying pan
You can but keep an eye on the heat. Non-stick pans usually can’t be used on high heat. If you make roti frequently, I recommend getting a cast iron pan. They last forever and are better for your health ♥️
@@SBLtasteoffiji yes i tried it worked
Is this the roti to roll up the meat in?
Like a Kathi roll? Yes, you can use this for rolling up cooked meat.
How much oil and water???
@@houstonale 1 tablespoon + 2 teaspoon neutral oil and about 1 cup hot water. You may need more or less depending on your flour. Recipe is linked in the description box
You should make a video using coconut shreds…
Good video though.
Great suggestion! Thank you for watching!
Thank you
@@carolkeung5666 my pleasure 🩵
So i basically followed your instructions the outcome was the roti came out hard so what did i do wrong.
Perhaps there wasn't enough water, or it was cooked for too long. I've usually had success with this recipe, but sometimes factors like the type and age of the flour and humidity can affect how the dough turns out. I encourage people to keep practicing.
Thank you to know the water must be hot
❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉🎉❤🎉❤🎉🎉❤
What’s the difference between all purpose flour and Fiji atta?
They’re pretty similar - but I know there are various types of flours available in Fiji now. All purpose flour works for this recipe.

Thank you! 🩵
What’s the measurement
In the description box there is a link to the written recipe.
@@SBLtasteoffiji Okay, thank you !
Dough is too stiff
Adjust the water gradually, adding one tablespoon at a time and allowing it to rest. Due to variations in flour and other factors, it's difficult to provide an exact measurement for the required water.
It is stiff
So sorry to hear that! Did you add really hot water and ensure that the dough was nice and supple? With making roti, the more times you make it, the better you will get at it. Don't give up!
It’s better to use boiling water
@itzbunaaababez yes, water that was JUST boiled is best. It yields the most soft and supple dough
